Photoshop CS5.1 Won't Load Images On Screen at retina MacBook pro.

Photoshop CS5.1 Won't Load Images On Screen at retina MacBook pro. Any help? Thanks!

I'm surprised that Apple would attempt such a "hack" design...  Switching graphics adapters mid-stream is no small task, and I can't imagine that they could ever make it work seamlessly.
Keep in mind that the nature of the complex GPU beast is that graphics hardware doesn't all work the same (or right) and application software has to make decisions about what to do and what not to do, and even when to invoke certain workarounds - or it would never be possible to run on multiple platforms.
Yes, that seems wrong, but it's necessary and it makes developing cutting-edge graphics applications in the real world much more expensive.
The decisions aren't re-made by an application all the time - that would slow things down terribly.  Instead, often the run-time environment is characterized at application startup and the features remembered for later use.  Modern applications actually even create programs (e.g., shaders or OpenCL programs) to run on specific GPU hardware, and they have to be compiled - something usually done by the application at startup.
Now imagine that someone changes the capabilities of the graphics hardware completely after the application has started - even from one vendor's implementation to another (Intel to nVidia).
Like I said, I'm surprised a reasonable system designer could ever think that swapping GPUs at run-time could be made to work.  At least Apple allows you to turn it off!
Does Apple offer any "geek-level" configuration options that can force the use of a particular GPU for a given application?  It seems that this could be an automated workaround that would allow a given application to see only one GPU, which is what Photoshop appears to need here.

  • Photoshop CS5 won't load since I installed Yosemite!

Since loading Yosemite, Photoshop CS5 won't load and I get this window!
    I'm on an iMac 21.5 mid 2011.

It seems a lot of people are running it without a problem, just seems to be me that has this issue at the moment, I have just got CS5, but I need it and can't afford the stupid leasing system they now have. I just want the product I paid for to work, or I will have to find a similar system that I can simply buy and use, not pay out for every year!
I had this when Mavericks came out and it was sorted, something to do with Java, but can't remember what...

  • I cannot load logic studio into my retina macbook pro from disc

I am trying to load logic studio from the upgrade discs that I brought when it first came out and it's not loading on my retina macbook pro. I'm loading it through the external superdrive. any help would be great.

Could it be because you are trying to install from upgrade discs?  Do you have the installation media for whatever version you upgraded from?  If so, you might try installing that version and then doing the upgrade installation over that.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 Won't Load Images On Screen

I'm having the weirdest issue.... sometimes when I try and load an image it won't actually appear int he workspace. I can see it in the Navigator thumbnail and it's got a check next to the filename in the Window dropdown, but I cannot see it anywhere nor can I seem to be able to make it appear. Am I missing something or is there a shortcut key to force the image to the center of the screen/workspace? I have the latest Nvidia drivers installed and I've even downgraded to PS running in 32-bit mode, with no better luck. I finally disabled OpenGL which seems to fix the issue.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Photoshop cs5 won't load, start or open

I have a 32 bit windows vista os. I used to have Master collection cs3. I installed photoshop cs5 stand alone on top of it. It worked for about a month then one day when I clicked the Ps icon I was asked what program I wanted to start photoshop in, The same thing happened for dreamweaver cs3 and photoshop cs3.
I ran a malware scan and when I tried to open photshop it said my license had expired.
I took ps5 and all the cs3 programs off and did a clean install of ps5. Photoshop said it was a successful install. Now when i click the ps5 icon the hour glass/circle spins for a couple seconds, then stops and no program comes up.
The adobe bridge and lightroom 3 work.
I can't open the ps cs5 by file association or through adobe bridge either. It's like everything is there and ready to go but adobe doesn't want me to use the program that i bought a month ago.

how do i get an event log for the event of not opening

  • Using 'my image garden' on new retina macbook pro....

    canon printer: pixma mg5420
i downloaded 'my image garden' the other day---thought i would give it a whirl with my new mac. i scanned approx a dozen photos and all was well. next thing i knew, the pics seem to be gone from 'my image garden'.  i looked in the documents file on the mac side and they appear there---but not when i switch to my image garden. i figure it must be something i did, but, was wondering if someone might know how to get them back on my image garden. maybe i will have to scan them again?
nothing on the screen asked me if i wanted to delete the photos.

Hello mthimm, sorry to disturb you.
I am having the same problem that you have, but with my new macbook pro retina.
Had you receive a solution or explanation any were?

  • Photoshop CS5 quits every time i try to print from macbook pro OS 10.9.5 - ?

I have an Epson Artisan 800 and Epson can't help me because I can print fine from other programs - so the problem is photoshop.  I am able to select print, then change the format from portrait to landscape and then if i select "Print Settings" it quits - or if i select "print"  - the whole program quits.  now adobe won't help either since it doesn't support CS5 - can anyone help?

    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

  • Windows 7 won't load and keeps restarting on my macbook pro?

So my windows 7 bootcamp works perfectly fine. But I downloaded something on windows 7 and it says it needs to restart. It restarted automatically and then it tries to load w7. The blinking "_" on top left shows and then it restarts itself again and again. And when I hold the option key, it just loads the macintosh partition which works fine.
Please help. Any ideas how to fix this?

OES key of w7 i haven't activated my windows yet so my friend (who gave me w7 installer) told me to open it how do you fix virus?

  • Unable to open photoshop cs6 jpeg, tiff, and psd files from my retina MacBook Pro on a Windows PC?

Im looking for a way to save or convert photoshop cs6 apple retina display formated files to be available to open on Windows PC's?

I doubt you need anything special. The files should open without conversion. You can double check with Adobe.

  • Image size problem with Retina Macbook Pro

I exported raw images to Jpg and then resized as 1200 x 800 resolution images through "Easy batch Pro" app. When I uploaded them, they were extremely large. I've tried it several times and the result was always the same. Is it a problem with "Easy batch Pro" app, or something with Retina Display resolution? I also resized them as small size like 600x400, but the image was totally broke, and apparently had different look when I saw the original via aperture. What should I do?

What's the problem exactly?  Call and complain.  It's up to them on how they want to handle it, but if it's something normal or minor, they'll just fix the issue under warranty and send you on your way.  That's how warranty works.  In instances where a user has had repetative failure of the same kind or others with the same system, a complete replacement was done, but those were issues that border on the "it's a lemon" idea.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch after Mac update

I updated my mac yesterday to Maverick and now Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch.  Can you tell me what files I need to delete to get it to launch.  I tried reinstalling it, and that didn't help.
    thanks

It's very strange.  When I try to double click on the program to open it,
it's like I'm doing nothing.  it sort of blinks like it's going to open but
does nothing.  That's the way it is if I control click and try to open too.
I did try to reboot.  Is there something I could delete in the Library
    file or something?
    thanks

  • Photoshop CS5 won't open .kmz files

Photoshop CS5 won't open .kmz files. I did a fresh install of Google Earth, opened it, saved a place, and saved a .kmz file. It reopens fine in Google Earth.
When I try to open it in Photoshop, this message pops up:
    File Format Error
This file is from a previous version of Google Earth or it is not a Google Earth file
I get this message regardless of the following:
    - ps is closed and i right click the kmz and choose ps (rather than google earth) to open it
    - ps is open and i double click the kmz
    - ps is open and i choose file/open and select the kmz
    - ps is open and i have created and saved a new psd file, then choose 3D/New Layer from 3D File/ and select the kmz
I have tried the usual remedies, change rwx permissions, repair permissions, delete prefs. No luck.
Any thoughts? Software versions are below.
    Thanks.
    - Photoshop CS5 Extended 12.0.4 x64 (doesn't work in x32 either)
    - Google Earth 6.0.3.2197
    - OS 10.6.8

I was trying to see (since Photoshop Extended touts the ability to open kmz files) if I could open a 3D Google Earth file and edit it in Photoshop. A file like this for instance http://ecotope.org/anthromes/maps/. After more research I've learned that kmz is nothing more that a container format - you can change the extension to zip and see what's in it.
I ran across this tidbit in the Photoshop CS3 Extended forum:
Photoshop CS3 Extended supports the ability to import .kmz files created from Google Earth 4 or exported from Sketch-up in the Google Earth 4 format. Photoshop CS3 Extended cannot open Google Earth files. If you have a Google Earth file, you can convert it to a Google Earth 4 format with the free version of Sketch-up.
So, theoretically if I could get a kmz into Google Earth 4 format, I could open it in Photoshop. But I haven't had any success importing a kmz or kml into SketchUp. Even just making a native sketchup file and trying to import that in psd gives a ram error.
Probably I'm wishing for the moon.
