Photoshop CS5 Motion Problems

I own the 64 bit version of Adobe photoshop CS5. The motion option I'm talking about resides at the top right-hand corner.
Today, I was making an animation; I drew all the frames as layers in the 'painting' mode first. I had the fx option on for all frames (outer glow). I then switched to 'motion' mode, and made frames from layers to test the animation.
It ran smoothly, but it didn't look right near the end bit, so I stopped the animation and then corrected that frame.
Big mistake. The fx glow refused to adhere to the new shape of the image in that frame. The glow continues to outline the part that I'd erased off. The new part I drew in is not covered by the glow.
I've experienced problems like this when entering and exiting Photoshop's motion mode before (other than today). I don't understand it. Is it because the motion mode destroys coding, which causes it to turn out like this? I have tried saving, exiting and reopening the file. Nothing works. The glow still exists around the part of the image that is no longer there. Meanwhile, the part of the image that I added in is not outlined by the glow. As anyone who has used the fx option before should know, the glow appears around the new part being drawn drawing whenever you draw something in the layer. It's stopped doing so on this particular layer ever since I exited motion mode.

I think I might have found the problem. The eraser tool seems to have changed the layer's colour to the background colour, rather than having
deleted the colour from the layer. So instead of having a transparent section where I'd erased things, I was left with a black shape (the same colour as the background). That's why the glow wouldn't go away; the shape was still there, just invisible by contrast.
So I have a new question. How did I get my brush to do this? The brush sometimes seems to erase perfectly well by deleting the colour in the frame. Other times it does a weird trick (like this occasion) and substitutes the colour in the layer with the background colour, making it look like it's done its job when it's just pulled a colour substitution for the background colour. What settings control whether it does one or the other?

  • Adobe photoshop cs5 stroke problems

    Dear Adobe Team,
We are using adobe Photoshop CS5 in our HP Workstation machine, but since we changed our OS in windows 7 we are facing stroke problems.
Like whenever we draw a straight stroke than it does not go straight it becomes curve type. Please find the below attached image of stroke.
We are using cintiq Pen display & HP z420 workstation.
So requesting you to kindly provide the solution ASAP

Well, works perfectly here... (PSElements 6 “Mac”)...
Select your image or specify an area...
Go to Filter / Render / Lighting Effect.../ and specify your desired options...
If that doesn’t work, delete the preference file...
If that doesn’t work either, you might have to reinstall PS Elements...

  • Photoshop CS5 Multiple Problems

I have recently loaded Photoshop CS5 and I have found some functioning problems.  When I am in Bridge and go to Tools>Photoshop>either Load into Photoshop Layers, Merge to HDR or Photomerge, the processes start and progress to a certain point, then I get an error message stating that "Photoshop Quit Unexpectedly."  This is in 64 bit mode.  If I switch to 32 bit, then the same options function properly.
In addition, I found that the ability to combine two open files in Photoshop by clicking and dragging a layer from one file to the Tab of the other file does not work at all.  When I try it, nothing happens.
Has anyone had similar experience and if so, was there a solution.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Herman R

Yes I too have the same problem. When using CS5 in 64 bit mode and  opening two or more NEF Raw images in  Merge to HDR Pro or Photomerge,  PS crashes after 10 seconds or so, doesn't happen in 32 bit mode.
I'm using a 2 x 2.8 Quad Core Mac Pro with 10Gb ram and NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 Graphic card

  • Photoshop CS5 shortcut problems after panel has been executed

    Hi,
I have a problem with Photoshop panels.
After executing a panel keyboard shortcuts stop functioning, especially copy/paste.
My panels are simple one-button panels that call a bunch of Javascript functions.
I tested it with a simple "create new file", with a more complicated Export panel and with the sample Colorpicker panel that is shipped with the SDK.
After activating them the keyboard shortcuts do not work anymore.
    I am using Photoshop CS5 64Bit.
I searched through the forums and it seems two other users had a similar problem without ever getting an answer, but I do not know where to ask if not here.
The other two threads are these:

Yes, basically we have all the default fonts installed on our computers, but we use a program called Universal Type Client to get the fonts we need, and UTC grabs fonts from a server and temporarily makes them usable on our computer. But everyone has this software so I dont think that would have anything to do with it.
Could it possibly have something to do with my Video Drivers or Graphic Cards? Our tech guy mentioned it was strange that my computer had two different things (I believe he said I have a CORE i7 vPro and Nvidia NVS 5200M or something and that they may be competing?) or the amount of monitors Im using?

  • Photoshop CS5 Crashing Problem

    Hi,
I have Photoshop CS5, and use Windows 7. I have started having problems with Photoshop crashing frequently when I have more than one photograph open at once. As soon as I try to save an image I have worked on, I get a message on the screen saying the programme is about to close, which it then does. Is there something I could change in Preferences for example, which would stop this, as it is incredibly frustrating!
    Thank you.
    Tom

What are your Performance Preferences? (Posting a screenshot might be more convenient than typing them down.)
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

  • HT204135 Photoshop CS5 Printing Problem on iMac with Epson 3880 printer

All of a sudden I can't print from Photoshop CS5 on my iMac with OSX Mountain Lion installed.  I am able to print from Illustrator, however.   Have tried to update the Epson 3880 driver. After clicking on "Print", it doesn't register with the computer, and from then on, the "Print" option is greyed out.

Are you using moab icc profiles or are you using one of the epson profiles?
I always use the moab profiles which you can download from their Web site. This way you are matching the specific epson printer with the specific moab paper.
At that point you change the printer manages color to Lightroom manages color and select the specific profile. Very easy to do - they even have instructions on the Moab site for installing the profiles if you haven't done that.
Once installed you can also use them through the system print dialogs in PS but it is really much much easier to use in LR - Since coming on board with LR last summer, I have switched to doing ALL printing from LR. Since you mentioned that you are having the same problem with LR and PS, I'm betting you are using epson profiles and this will solve your problem.
    Hope so

  • Photoshop CS5 3D Problems

    Hello,
I've been working on a large-scale design project in Photoshop CS4 involving 3D models. I tried the Photoshop CS5 demo, and it works great. However, whenever I make any changes to one of the 3D layers in renders in horribly with no anti-aliasing, low resolution, and different colours. I think it corrupted the diffuse textures because I am no longer able to edit them. Double clicking on them does nothing. On top of that, the rendering seems to be much slower in this version (scanning the entire canvas instead of just the layer). I tried fiddling with the options (ray-traced, etc.) I tried to open the file in CS4 but apparently it is not forwards-compatible with CS5, asking me to rasterize all the 3D layers. I know I should have saved a version of the project before opening it with CS5, but it's too late now.
Is there any way to revert to CS4 rendering or another way to fix this problem? Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

The import of CS5 into CS4 started working; however, Photoshop CS5
and CS4 do not co-exist nicely on my computer. I kept getting errors
when trying to open either, and thus I had to uninstall both.
Can you provide an example, what does this mean?
    Can
anyone provide any insight on what has gone so horribly on the 3D
rendering in CS5? I don't understand at all. The models don't render the
same way as in CS4, and the rendering mechanic is much slower and
    bulkier.
CS5 provide color correction that CS4 does not have, which would explain color changes you might see. No other 3D app does this.
The renderig is not slower than cs4. If you would like to provide evidence to the contraty I would like to see it.
    There seems to be inconsistencies within the program itself;
two models with the exact same settings produced one black translucent
one and one that rendered properly.
Provide an example because this depends on where your model came from, there were slight changes (fixes) to transparency handling. However it turly depnds on the interpreation (by the othe 3d app) of the where that 3d model came from.
    Additionally, before rendering there
is a decent preview image that appears for a few seconds and is then
replaced with a a pixelated version.
The pixelated image right before the ray trace render is an OpenGL  snapshot - this is a place holder for you to see *something* before the  render. Otherwie it would be a blank canvas. The reason it is overly pixelated is because your doucment is 300 ppi vs 72ppi - but we'll get to that in a moment.
Why it does this I cannot
understand for the life of me, and the good preview seems very appealing
as an alternative to the absurdly slow render (5 minutes to render a
small model at draft quality on a 300 dpi US paper size).
300ppi? Why on earth would you render at this (300ppi) resolution? If there are no plans to print this image then don't do that. It will be much faster at screen resoltuion (72ppi). You are better off rendering at 72ppi and 2550x3300 pixels.
    Is anyone
else experiencing these frustrations and/or has some sort of solution? I
hope Adobe can look into this and not make such drastic changes to a
feature from one version to another.
You will have to be more specific because I could point to the changes as tremendous time savers.

  • Photoshop CS5 color problem

    Hello Photoshoppers,
I hope you guys can help me out with a problem i am facing for a few months now. I still haven't found a solution for it.
I was buzzy with a tutorial from the megazine "Webdesigner". The left side is the document i just started. The right side is the .psd that came from the CD which is delivered with the webdesigner megazine for learning purposes. This is a screenshot i made from it. As you can see there is a difference in the colors. Both files are .psd. When i use the 'eyedropper tool' and compare the color codes they are the same.
    Here a second example:
A document i created from scratch. I saved it for the web (.png) and put it side by side.
On the left side the .psd document, and on the right side the .png that i saved for the web.
Again the same colors when i use the 'eyedropper tool'.
    I use Photoshop CS5 with a Macbook Pro 15
I hope you guys can help me out with this.

  • Yosemite and Photoshop (CS5.1) Problem

I recently updated to Yosemite and now Photoshop (CS5.1) won't open and I get an error message:  An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred. Photoshop will now exit. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a solution?

My answer may be somewhat late, but I had the same issues (Installed Yosemite but PS and Dreamweaver wouldn't operate without Java update).  I went to the attached site >> and it solved the issue.  Didn't have to reinstall CS5.  Hope this works for you.

  • Photoshop CS5 installation problem

    Hi there,
I had PS4 and PS5 co-existing without problems on my system. Finally, I decided yesterday to uninstall PS CS4 since all my plug-ins are now available for CS5. I removed CS4 using CleanMyMac, which unfortunately also uninstalled CS5. No problem, I thought, and reinstalled from my CS5 download - and PS5 won't install! No Photoshop CS5.app on my system! I verified permission, repaired them, had no other programs open during install. I tried three times, three failures, and now I don't know what to do! I have no back up available since I am away on vacation and my back-ups are at home. I need this for x-mas! Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
    Regards
    GS

Are any errors being reported or does the installer claim success?
If remaining parts of the old installations should be part of the problem maybe the Cleaner Tool can help.

  • Curious Photoshop CS5 redraw problem

We have seen an interesting redraw issue that has boggled us and our Apple Consultants. In using Photoshop (currently CS5) we quite often use the quick keys to enlarge and decrease the viewing area of the file we are working on. What we are finding is that if we enlarge the view once, from the viewing size the file opened at, the screen redraw is dramatically reduced, in some instances, 90% of the image is grayed out. Enlarge view again, redraw is excellent. Decrease once form that view (from the 1up from original view) image on screen is mostly grayed out again. This does not happen if you reduce from the original view, only on the first increase view from the default. (very odd) Now, when the screen is grayed out, adjusting the size of the window by manually pulling the corner corrects the redraw, but that is incredibly annoying and cuts into the typical work flow.
We have seen this on both of our MacPro systems that are running CS5 with Snow Leopard. Both are currently using Photoshop CS5 12.0.2 in 32-bit mode (for 3rd party filter use) but also saw the problem in the 64-bit mode. Both MacPros are Quad-Core Intel Xeons, both have NVIDEA GeForce GT 120 cards (2 each). We are attaching 3 images that shows the default view, 1st view enlarge view that shows problem and 2nd enlarge that does not have the problem (see images).
If anyone has a solution that does not affect performance (our files are for print, so quite big) then we would love to resolve this. If this is a known problem that Adobe is working on, then that is fine too and will look for an update. If there is something else we need to look at (not sure what that would be) then we would address that also.
I have not seen something like this before, at least in recent time, and I have been on the platform since 2.5.1. Any help her to correct this "curious problem" would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    ScanInk

in some instances, 90% of the image is grayed out.
That would be an OpenGL drawing bug (most likely a driver bug, but could also be a conflict with another app).
What OS version are you using?
Are you running any other applications that use OpenGL at the same time as Photoshop?
Until you can find the source of the problem, turning off OpenGL drawing should avoid the issue.

  • Photoshop CS5 Performance Problems with Optional Extension Plug-ins Installed

If you installed any of the Optional Extension Plug-ins in Photoshop CS5 (they aren't a part of a default installation of Photoshop CS5) - we determined that some users have had serious performance issues due way these Optional Extension Plug-ins were installed on Mac systems.
We have created the following knowledge base document to help users determine if they are affected by the use of these plug-ins. The document contains instructions on how to remove the plug-ins and restore your Photoshop prefs:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/889/cpsid_88974.html
Note: It's important to both remove the plug-ins and restore your Photoshop prefs in order to get back to a 'good' state.

  • Photoshop CS5 mask problem

When I use Photoshop CS5 as an external editor in Aperture 3.2.3 and apply a mask to an adjustment layer, the image often just brings the "masked" portion of the PS file back into Aperture, even after I flatten the layers in PS and save the file. As a basic example, if the image I send to PS5 from Aperture is a bird against the blue sky and I put a mask around the bird to work on the sky, then flatten the layers and quit PS, the image which comes back into Aperture will just be the masked bird - as if it had been cut out and pasted onto a black background.  Any ideas how to fix this?  It doesn't happen all the time, but it's frustrating when it does.  I send tiffs to PS5 from Aperture in case that's relevant.  Also, I'm working on an old iMac 2.8GHz with 4GB Ram.  My image files are stored on an external HDD.  Thanks.

    Hi Barney
This is exactly what I deal with all the time.  I usually work in tif and will try Leonie"s pdf sugesstion. So when I collasp the layered file and we have saved the mask as an alpha channel (auto) we have to go to the channels pallet and delete that mask.  I dont have too much trouble with masks in layers if I place them in a group.  But I still go to the Channels and delete masks before saving.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 Problem

When I start my Photoshop CS5.1 I get an error saying that my standard brushes, standard colors etc. are missing. Anyone know how to fix this?

I haven't seen that message personally, but it implies either the preferences are corrupt or that you're missing some of the files originally installed with Photoshop.
    1.  Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt (or Shift - Command - Option on a Mac) immediately after cold-starting Photoshop.  If you're quick enough to get the keys down - and you have to be VERY quick - you'll get a confirmation dialog asking whether you want to delete your current preferences.  Confirming that will return preferences to out-of-box defaults.
    2.  If the above doesn't work, I'm afraid you might want to remove and reinstall photoshop from your original media, making sure to remember to install all updates afterward.
I would also try to think through what it is you have (or some software has) done that's caused components of Photohsop to be removed or moved.  Computers don't just lose files without there being a reason.  Check your system logs to see whether you may be starting to have a disk failure, and perhaps even run some diagnostics on your system.
    Good luck.
