Photoshop CS5 x64 doesn't run.

Hello!
I have just installed the trial version of CS5 master collection on a Win 7 and the x64 version of Photoshop doesn't run and displays the error code (0xc000007b).
I have the uninstalled both CS4 and CS5 suites and reinstalled the later and the problem continues.
My computer has the folowing sistem requirements:
Intel core i7
6 GB ram
Nvidia GeForce GT 330M with 1 GB.
windows 7 home premium.
So i guess it should be running.
Can anyone please help?

Given:  You know Photoshop CS5 x64 works on other Windows 7 x64 systems, so something's wrong with YOUR setup.
You have two avenues you can travel:
1.  You can try to modify your existing system configuration so that it will start to run Photoshop CS5 x64.
2.  You can start afresh with Windows, make Photoshop CS5 one of the first apps you install, then install the other things that you have chosen to make up your Windows environment and find out which one breaks CS5.  Then back that component out.
You've mentioned several things upon which you have made decisions that may not be valid.  For example, you mentioned shutting down the Comodo firewall and Photoshop still didn't run.  Did you uninstall the Comodo firewall completely?  With this kind of problem that's what it may take.  Frankly, I've yet to see any valid justification for running any firewall other than the one that comes with Windows 7.  Another invalid assumption is that just because the computer is a few weeks old it cannot have a virus yet.  I'm not saying you DO have a virus, but you could have gotten one 5 minutes after you plugged it into the internet.
As running Photoshop CS5 x64 seems important to you, I'd suggest not fooling around with your existing system configuration any longer and start afresh with suggestion 2 above.

  • Photoshop CS5 x64 crashing while editing layer styles

    Hey there,
I searched and seeked through the whole interweb, but hardly anyone seems to have ever had such a problem, so I am guessing this is the right place to ask and hopefully be helped . Short version is: Photoshop CS5 (x64) is constantly crashing when editing a layer style.
I recently installed my CS5 Design Premium on a new laptop (Fujitsu Lifebook AH351) and am having severe problems with Photoshop CS5. On first run everything was fine, and it kept that way for a while. Now everytime I try to edit a layer style Photoshop crashes immediately. I do not need to alter anything, just open the layer style, press OK and Photoshop is gone. I can workaround by resetting preferences which works until next reboot, no matter if I change ANYTHING on the settings or not. Had tried this on the initial PS release and on the latest update (12.0.4). Once I reset settings again, I can work on layer styles again. Did anyone of you have a similar problem or a hint at what I might look?
The Lifebook has a decent feature which I suspect to somehow be the culprit of this case: it has an onboard graphics unit and a separate GPU (nVidia GForce GT 525M) which can be added in on a program-to-program basis. Photoshop indeed recognizes it and lets me activate OpenGL features as well, so from that point it seems fine. The internal GPU cannot be disabled since you connect your monitors to it.
    Some data about my system:
    Fujitsu Lifebook AH531
    Intel® Core™ i5-2410M
    RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
    750 GB SATA HDD 5400 U/Min
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (up to date)
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M with 1GB VRAM
    Photoshop CS5 x64
    no plugins in use/installed
no settings changed, not even shortcuts
    Thanks in advance

Funny replying to myself repeatedly. It seems I have found the problem with no solution in sight. My findings are as follows:
I am running two external monitors on my laptop (HDMI and VGA), the laptop screen is off. If I unplug one screen, Photoshop is fine with me. No crashes.
In nVidia settings you can choose what GPU is being used for specific programs. Changing it to the internal one, Photoshop is fine with me. No crashes. Crappy performance.
I came to the idea of it having to do with dual monitors in my long way through help forums, and one thread here (on problems with 4 monitors) suggested to disable the ScriptingSupport.8li via re-naming which didn't work for me nonetheless. Now it seems up to me whether I'd love to farewell either my powerful GPU or my second monitor for working with Photoshop.
Still, does anybody have a notion of what else I could possibly do? I won't assume Fujitsu to offer a fix for this, since it is hard to track down precisely where the problem comes from.
    All the best

Edit: BTW, Windows settings confirm both screens are handled by/connected to the internal GPU, no matter what Photoshop is using ultimately. That seems like normal behaviour, and I cannot switch since the two ports are on the internal card.

  • Trial of Photoshop CS5.1 doesn't work

I downloaded CS5.1 Trial off Adobe site (I have CS4)
I installed it (Windows 7,  12Gb ram,   4.3Tb hard disks).....
When I try to run CS5 I don't get past the License Agreement (I 'Accept' it and it keeps asking me to 'Accept' - it's like its in some sort of loop).
    What's the problem ??
    Thanks,
    Jez

    Hi Everyone,
This thread has seemed to degenerated, and if you want my perspective on it, Noel, you've played your role in that and in quite an unprofessional manner (please stop using the word 'assume' in your replies - as a troubleshooter, don't assume anything either personally about me or what I may or may not have done, or have, or otherwise).....
The thread seems to have been hijacked by Commando?   (sorry, there is an inefficiency in the reply system of this forum, I only get to see the last post of the thread so have to rely on memory......).
Noel, I don't really know who you're talking to regarding a poorly built system and it not working (I don't remember reading Commando saying that his system couldn't handle CS5, but I do remember him saying he'd paid $150 for it, so to me, it must be a counterfeit copy at that price).
I myself, as a Computer Graphics person, love using my software, and since day dot, have always used legal and paid for versions.  (I use other 3D software which are far far more expensive than even the Adobe Master Collection and even in those instances I refuse to use cracked software - my take on it, is that I enjoy using it, so the pleasure I derive needs to be paid for in full and why not ?).  Always have done, and currently while I can't actually afford to go to CS5, that doesn't stop me trying to enjoy for 30 days the new features in a trial version.
I was wanting to download and try the new Content Aware Fill (is that what it's called) in Photoshop CS5.  What I'd seen in demos and on YouTube blew me away.
I don't believe that the file I have downloaded has been corrupted. To dispell any confusion, I downloaded it from Adobe's own site using their download manager.  Don't downloads use Checksums to ensure that the file is complete as its supposed to be ??   And if it were corrupted I don't think the install would have even worked, I don't think I'd have an installed version of the Software on my system disk.
I believe, if ANYTHING, the problem lay in the fact that I didn't disable my virus software before installation.  But that to me is a bit meek of Adobe to expect the USER to know to do beforehand (yes, it does say that in the Installation notes but it should have said it in the install dialog box).
I haven't uninstalled the software yet so maybe I'll give it another look later on......hopefully in time before the Trial runs out.
    Kind regards,
    Jez
P.S.  Noel, I hate to say this, but I'm not confident that you'd be able to fix my problem - my 'call' to uninstall seemed quite convenient for you !

  • Photoshop CS5 update doesn't fix artifact problem in the menu bar !

    Hi to all,
I've installed the new update (december 7) recommended by Adobe, but that doesn't fix the Artifact problems in the menu bar !!!
More, with my Windows 7 Pro (French language), Photoshop CS5 video pilot create artifacts in the menu bar in several situations.
With Windows classic Theme chosen, theme management disabled:
    1. Opening a photo and applying a filter (especially Noise Reduction).
    2. Opening a photo and changing some preferences.
    3. Opening a photo with Windows 7 File Explorer working cause the pilot to crash with a black screen, ans followed by a message saying that Win 7 has recovered the video pilot.
To suppress most of the problems, I need to Activate "Themes" and choose an Aero theme or the Basic Theme.
I also need to activate some items that slow the PC !
    Very strange !
Could someone help, me please ?
    Have a Nice Day.
    Thierry

Yes, I've an Asus ENGT220/G/DI/1GD3, tried Windows default pilot, 2009 Asus pilot "nv19045_Win7Vista64.zip", and 2010 latest version "nv25919_Win7Vista64.zip", no change !
More, I've exchanged the video car by a "monster" ENGTX465 with it's driver, NO CHANGE !
    So what to do ?!
    Help, please !

  • Photoshop CS5 x64 error (graphics?)

I haven't spent the time to search for other topics related to this yet because I am on a tight deadline and wanted to start using Photoshop right away for my project.
It's Photoshop CS5 64-bit on Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate.  I am wondering if anyone else has come across the same error?  (If there's already a thread about it please feel free to point me to it).  Thanks in advance.  (I have an nVidia graphics card, don't know how much memory is on that card though.  It's a Quadro type.)

    Hi Mylenium..
I did in fact recently update my driver but I guess when you say configure you mean using the nVidia control panel and I can't seem to make heads or tails of that dialog.  It lists all of my programs and a bunch of optional attributes that you can set but I just have it set to the control panel's default settings which I think should be good enough for a 2D-sometimes-3D application such as PS Extended.  Do you know of a specific setting that would cause this error in the control panel?  Or is there a link I should look for with nVidia's website?
    Thanks.

  • Why does Photoshop CS5 require me to run as Administrator?

I just installed a fresh copy of CS5 64 bit Extended Student and Teacher edition obtained direct from Adobe.
It installed fine and for the first ten or so times I used it it started without any difficulty.  This morning it is refusing to start with an error message "could not open scratch file because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access priveliges'.
(The first thing this morning it installed some updates - don't know if that has a bearing on the problem)
I CAN start it if I right click and 'run as administrator', but then the UAC dialog box comes up asking me to allow changes to my computer.
I have only on account, and it is an administrator.
I installed CS5 while logged in as administrator
I am logged in as administrator when I try to run it
If I look at the shortcut, it appears I have full access.
I changed my scratch disk location so it is not on my boot drive.
I believe I have the latest updates
I am running WIndows 7 64 bit, and the CS5 install was the 64 bit version.
While this may be a WIndows 7 issue, I don't understand why, if I am logged in as administrator CS5 won't start without the UAC nag dialog box. Is is something to do with it being the student edition?
    Thanks in advance,
    Henry

Welcome to the joy of Windows UAC.
Even though you are logged-on using an account in the Administrators group, you are not normally running applications as an Administrator.
Therefore, if your permissions aren't set up properly to allow read-write access to the root folder on your scratch drive, Photoshop will not be able to access that folder.

  • Photoshop CS5 Help doesn't work

I just installed Master Collection CS5 today.
I discovered that the keyboard shortcuts for changing Brush Hardness (Ctrl-Option-Cmd) now activates something else.
First thing I did was goto Photoshop Help, just to find out that the fancy new Air Help app doesn't work. It says something like "this installation is damaged, reinstall or call adobe."
Well I put the disc back in and there's no option in install the Help app.
So...  I have no Help now. Any ideas?

Make Layer 3 active and select all (Ctrl-A) and copy it (Ctrl-C).
Alt-click on the empty mask thumbnail, that will give you a white work area.
Click on it and paste (Ctrl-V).

  • Photoshop CS5 x64 crashes when file dialogue opens.

I am running PS CS5 64-bit on a Windows 7 Ultimate PC with 12GB RAM.
It has been running fine, but today, all of a sudden, when I do anything that opens a file dialogue, PS crashes and quits.
If I select "Open..." or "Save As..." PS will crash/quit.
I have tried deleting my prefs. Still the same problem.
Interestingly, PS CS5 32-bit works fine, as does other Adobe programs since I have the CS5 Master Collection.
I guess I will try uninstalling PS and reinstalling.
    Thanks,
    -Darin

    Thanks for the tip Chris.
I created a new user and no longer had the problem with the open dialogue on the new user account.
On my main user, the problem is still there.
So I know this is out of the scope of this forum, but how do I go about resetting or fixing the dialog settings? I only have this problem with PS. Other apps are fine.
Oh well, I will try to figure it out from here. At least I have an idea where to start.
    Thanks again,

  • Photoshop CS5 with OpenGL enabled runs incredibly slow

    My system specs
    MacBook Pro 17"
    OSX 10.6.3
    3.06GHz Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR4
    NVIDIA GeForce 9400M/9600M GT
    CS4 is installed as well
    Photoshop settings
    Not using Application Frame
    Not using tabs
With OpenGL enabled in either Basic, Normal or Advanced mode, the whole experience is much slower.
The Marquee selection tool is laggy. I move the cursor around quickly while selecting and the selection area can't keep up.
Resizing the document window is laggy. Like the Marquee selection, it can't keep up with my cursor.
Paintbrush tool outline is slow to enlarge.
I'm sure there's more, but that's all I've noticed. When I have GPU disabled, Photoshop runs like butter.

It does it in both graphic modes.
But I figured out what the problem was...
    Vertical Sync!
I had it enabled. When disabled, Photoshop runs smooth as butter.

  • Photoshop Elements 13 doesn't run with my windows 8.1 stops.

directly after istallation it worked. But now one day later I can't start the organizer anymore. Program does't work. We will contact you, when we have a solution for this problem. What can I do?

    Hi,
After talking to 3 different Canon techs who didn't know anything about
this and told me it was Adobe's fault, a 4th Canon tech e-mailed me a list
of the Elements software that is "compatible" with the Canon Pro-10
printer. The list stops at Elements 12! In other words, Canon has not
written the software for their plug-in to work with Elements 13 yet. I
personally am stunned by this. Considering how popular Adobe Elements is,
you'd think Canon would be up-to-date on having their new printer's plug-in
work with Elements 13, which has been out there for some time.
Not only that, Canon's more expensive printer, the Canon PRO-100, also has
the same problem. My friend just bought one and told me the plug-in doesn't
    work with Elements 13.
I have figured out a solution, if it will be of help. I had just
uninstalled Adobe Elements 12 and when I saw that Canon's plug-in worked
with Elements 12, I quickly reinstalled it. Sure enough, when I clicked on
AUTOMATION TOOLS there was the Canon plug-in, and when I clicked on it, the
Canon print screen opened. So I decided I would do my photo editing in
Elements 13, and when ready to print I would open the photo in Elements 12
and print it there. Hope that helps.

  • Photoshop CS5 doesn't work properly after opening too many images

    Hi
This is my very first post.
I'm also new to CS5. I do hundreds of photo touching/cropping that is a part of my job for web.
Everything is running fine but when ever I open too many images in Photoshop CS5 it doesn't work, I mean it doesn't hang or freezes it just open all files and then doesn't show any images (just blank) and when I closes 20/30 or more images then it get fine.
I thought it might a RAM problem but i have i3 processor with 4GB of RAM. I have also increased memory usage from 60% to 80% but I'm still facing the same problem.
Would like to tell that in the previous version of CS3 I never got this problem and worked fine.
    thanks
    --Venkat

    Disabling OpenGL entirely is draconian.
You could try, if it's not already set that way, going into the Advanced settings and switching OpenGL to "Basic" mode, which uses fewer resources.
