Photoshop CS6 on MacBook Pro

Ok, so i downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS6 on my MacBook using the Adobe Download Assistant. My net speed is really slow (30 kb/s) so it took a while. Now the programme is 'Extractiong files' and also says "this may take a while."
the extraction has been going on for 2-3 hours now. is something wrong?
Also, i can see a file named 'Photoshop_13_LS16.dmg' (size: 774.1 MB) on the MacBook. but when i click on it, it gives me a message saying that the disk image couldnt be opened (reason: illegal seek)
Should i wait more?
(i have OSX Lion. the MacBook Pro is a 13" mid-2012 base model)
Also, i am using FileVault2.

No there is no ned to wait any longer.  The download apparently was not successful and the reason you are receiving this error is because it is incomplete.  You can either cancel the download and try again or initiate a direct download by following the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369.

I installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 on MacBook Pro, OS 10.7.5. Now my DVD player will not work. Any ideas?

Problem solved. Yes, it was a coincidence. The problem had to do with my DVD preferences, not the Adobe installation. Thanks for your reply.

  • Spacebar not moving marquee selection on photoshop cs6 on macbook pro.  Have not found any workable answers on adobe forums.

On my MACbook pro retina display, OS X, I'm having a problem when running PHOTOSHOP CS6 extended where the spacebar doesn't move the selection of the marquee tool.  I've deleted the preferences file and also reset tool(all) but to no avail.  I've also searched every photoshop forum and searched on the web for solutions to this issue.  No help found!  Very frustrating.  Is there a solution to this issue?  If so, I certainly would appreciate knowing what it is.
    Thank you,
    frustrated PS user

I don't know what to say. I see the same behavior on both my Mac and Windows editions of Photoshop.
I select the Marquee Tool, draw out my Marquee. If I need to move it, clicking and dragging inside the marquee using my Trackpad ddoes the trick.
If I want to resize the Marquee, Ctrl or left-clicking and choosing "Transform" allows me to resize it.
The tool above the Marquee is the Move Tool, but I don't see to need it for that.
I see the same behavior down to CS6. I certainly would like to know Spacebar does not work like that for me.

  • Photoshop cs6 and macbook pro.

do you need a dedicated graphics card to run this or can it run smoothly on computers with a shared with the memory (macbook pro 15-inch vs macbook pro 13-inch)?
    thanks.

thanks for the reply. however, the SSD gave me pause...
instead of the 13-inch MBP, should I rather get the 13-inch MBA?
The reason I am not considering the MBA is because of the small capacity (yes, i find the 256GB small and I don't want to do a DIY to replace the SSD in it).
right now, i am using my old MBP with a firewire 800 external hdd as my scratch space. i would have liked to get the MBA to expand my capacity but i feel USB 2 is not fast enough and the mini-display port peripherals are not yet common and still very expensive...
    thanks again for the reply.

  • Does anyone know how to select multiple files in photoshop cs6 on macbook pro lion

I'm new to Mac operating system. Can anyone tell me how to select multiple images in cs6 photoshop? Without having to hold down a shift or cmd key and clicking on each one.

I assume you are using the Shape tool to draw your hexagons. After you drag out the shape, use the Transform controls to tweak the size, so that the width is evenly divisible by 4, and the height is an even number. If you wand a gap between shapes, include that in your adjustments. Make a note of the new width and height.
Once the scaling is committed and the shape is selected, Control+Alt+T to Free Transform Copy, and in the Option Bar, set the X and Y to Relative. Set X to zero, and Y to the height you set earlier, and commit the Transform. Then Repeatedly press Shift+Control+Alt+T to make more transformed copies.
With a vertical column of shapes, Alt-Click on the Shape Path in the Paths panel to select the whole path. Control+Alt+T again. This time, again using relative, set X to three-quarters of the width you noted earlier, and Y to one-half the height, and commit
Finally, again Alt-click on the Shape Path in the Paths panel, and Transform Copy relative with X = one and a half times the width you noted, and Y to zero. After committing this, Shift+Control+Alt+T as above to extend more columns.
And JJ, those are Octagons .

What are CD features? Are you looking to download a trial or have you purchased Adobe Photoshop as a download from the Adobe online store?

  • I need help installing Photoshop on my Macbook Pro.

I am trying to install Photoshop on my Macbook pro running OSX 10.6.8 for my student photographer daughter. Every time I try to install either the 30 day trial or buy the monthly plan it tells me that the computer can't establish a secure connection and suggests that the url has changed. I checked it on my Mac at work, today but it looks fine. She needs Photoshop, not necessarily the fastest newest version for college, but needs to use it from this older Macpro. Any thoughts?

Re: How do I upgrade or transfer existing Windows CS6 to MacBook Pro laptop

You have to contact Adobe.  Since it is a current version you can get a Mac disk but have to shred the Windows disk.  Other option subscribe to CC and you can use either OS.

  • Installing photoshop cs2 onto macbook pro

I had the old version of photoshop cs2. I want to put it on my new macbook pro. I was given the link http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html". I have downloaded it but when I try to install the message says 'Installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance'.

Looks like you're looking at buying a full version of CS6 or subscribing to the cloud.  :-/

  • Using Photoshop CC on Macbook Pro retina

Hi, I am a web designer and I am trying to find a way forward in using Photoshop CC on my Macbook Pro (late 2013).  I have found posts that say you can open photoshop CS6 in "Low Resolution" however I cannot find the same option in Photoshop CC.  Zooming my design comps by 200% surely is not the answer.
Thanks for any advice anyone can give.
    - Michael

    Exactly! Thank you dxjoel.
I'm having the same problem... I've been combing the web for a solution and nothing in site. I'm on MacBookPro Retina 15" running CS6 13.0.6.
Why can't Adobe PS render at same size as every other program? As a designer, 'lo-res mode' is not an option.
I'm attaching a screenshot of he SAME 480x480 IMAGE in photoshop, chrome and safari.
Can you imagine, as a web designer, how it's hard to work like this? There is no longer the 1:1 ratio that I get from CS6 on my iMac or PC.
Here's a screenshot of the SAME IMAGE on CS6 (at 200%) and Chrome (at 100%)... Pretty close!, but upon close examination, there's pixelation in CS6 side that's not there in the actual image. So, not comfortable with that workflow. I have relied on Photoshop as a pixel-perfect product for ~20yrs... now I can't use it on this machine.
I mean, even when I go to Help > Update ... the PS program's dialogue text is pixelated! Something is very 'off' here. Is this issue fixed in the CC version?
Need some answers, or it's time to look for new options.
    Thanks!
    David

  • Flickering black boxes on CS6 with Macbook Pro Intel Iris

I'm experiencing a flickering black box whenever using large brush sizes on Photoshop CS6 using a Macbook Pro (16GB RAM, 2.8 GHz i7, Intel Iris, Late 2013 13") similar to what is shown on: black flickering boxes on Vimeo.  The issue stops if you: Preferences -> Performance -> Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor."  I've contacted Apple Care multiple times and they say it is an Adobe issue.  I've attempted uninstalling/reinstalling CS6, resetting NVRAM and SMC, and verified CS6 and System settings are all up-to-date.  When booting in Safe Mode the issue is also resolved (as it appears Graphics Processor is disabled).  There appears to have been a similar issue on the 2013 Macbook Air that Apple released a fix for (MacBook Air (Mid 2013) Software Update 1.0) but I do not see anything regarding the Macbook Pro line.  Anyone experience/resolve this issue?

Professional engineers would look at the report, even if it happens in a single application, because usually that one application is just more commonly used and exposes an existing problem that is only occasionally seen in other applications.  (hint: the OS and video card drivers draw the cursor, not the application, so the driver and OS are responsible for drawing glitches with the cursor)
And for us to write up a bug for Apple, we need a reproducible case - but we can't reproduce it on our systems. Apple needs information about your system to see what specific GPU/CPU configuration is affected by this driver bug (and they have all the hardware variants to try it on).
And we have been testing for similar issues since the MacBookAir cursor bugs appeared - but haven't seen any after Apple's patch, despite testing on all the systems we have available (which is quite a few, but we can't have every single possible Macintosh configuration).

  • How do I start using CS6 on MacBook Pro (yosemite)? I'm getting a configuration error 16 message

I've used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone CS6 and lots of other Adobe programs onto a newer MacBook Pro (yosemite), and I'm getting a configuration error 16 message... tried making the Adobe PCD and the SLStore stuff "read & write" but no good. Any help would be great, thanks!

uninstall everything cs6 and then run the cleaner -  Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
then properly install your cs6 (do not clone/migrate/time machine/copy/etc) using the installation files.
