Photoshop Elements 11 Photo Editor won't open, trial info keeps popping up

Okay, I own Photoshop Elements 11 but the Photo Editor refuses to open. When I click it, a pop up shows up for the trial version of PSE 11 saying I should buy it. I already have the lisence for PSE11 so i don't know what the problem is. (Also Organizer works but won't upload images and I tried the CRT+shift+Alt things but the delete preferences popup doesn't show.)
I might have deleted a plug-in or something by accident, not sure if that would effect it but I did a systems restore.

I don't want to re-install because my account says I can't.
What exactly is the message you're getting?

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Editor Won't Open

I have PSE 9, and the editor won't open (organizer will, but not editor). When I click "Edit" from the welcome screen, the welcome screen just disappears and nothing happens. I tried accessing the editor directly from the program files folder, and again, nothing happens . I tried right-clicking on photos and telling them to open in PSE. Nothing happens. No error messages or anything-- it just won't open.
It worked fine on my old computer in Windows 7, but I recently got a new computer with Windows 8. I tried running in compatibility mode for Windows 7, but that doesn't solve the problem. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing.
Please help me-- this is driving me nuts! Thanks.

Yes, but the odds are that you chose the logical file instead of the correct one. The actual editor is hidden away inside the support files folder for PSE 13 and the file at the top level of the Applications>PSE 13 folder is just an alias to the Welcome Screen. You really want this one:

  • Photoshop Elements 7 editor won't open

I have Photoshop Elements 7. The organizer, create and share tabs work fine but when I try to open any 3 of the editor modes I get the error message: Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.
I tried restarting my computer because I heard that someone was able to fix a similar problem that way, but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Try this
    1.. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.

  • PLEASE HELP! Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 editor won't open!!

Hi! I'm new to the forums and to Adobe. So, I'm a little clueless about all this stuff.
    WELL
everytime I click my Photoshop icon the welcome screen appears and the editor begins to load.
However, the screen doesn't pop up at all. Just the welcome screen. It just shows the Photoshop Elements editor's small window on the bottom of my screen. I click on it and the editor doesn't show up at all.
It did this a couple of times before. But, now the editor isn't showing.
My organizer works just fine, but I'm wondering if I can somehow open Photoshop's editor on the organizer?
If you could please PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME and reply as soon as possible! I would love to draw  and color on Photoshop again as soon as I have fix this problem!
    Thank you so much!

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Organizer and Editor and that will bypass the welcome screen and any advertising.
On Windows right click on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Organizer application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
Inside the Adobe >> Photoshop Elements Organizer (yellow folder) you are looking for an application file “PhotoshopEementsOrganizer” with six small icons (e.g. representing thumbnails)
    Select it and click OK
    Click next
Rename by taking out Photoshop Elements leaving just the word Organizer
    Then click finish
You should now be able to launch directly form the desktop by double clicking on the icon.
You can set up a similar direct link to the Editor application (.exe file which has the blue PSE icon). As before take out Photoshop Elements just leaving the description Editor and it will show up clearly on the desktop.
You can keep the standard Photoshop icon which links to the welcome screen but I prefer to delete it from the desktop. If you ever need to get to the welcome screen you simply click Window >>Welcome on the top menu when the application is open.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 editor won't open.

I get the Adobe sign-in menu when I try to open it asking me if I want to buy or try a 30-day trial.  I can open the Organizer (by going into the program files).  I have been using PSE 12 on my MAC for several months--no problem.  Do I need to reload the program?  If so, how?

Did you install other programs or drivers since the last time your PSE12 editor worked? If so, did you try to restore windows with an earlier restorepoint which should be stored on your computer? You'll find info about restoring your windowsversion on the Microsoft website (for O.S. windows 7 look at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore). For other O.S. just google

can someone help me with this issue?

Two suggestions:  the first one is a workaround. You just have to drill down your program file tree to Adobe Photoshop Elements Organizer and find the .exe file - the one specifically for Organizer, not Elements.  Make a shortcut to that file on your desktop and it will open Organizer. The second suggestion resolved the problem altogether for me. I actually called Dell and after working with several different techs over several different days, I talked to a tech in premium support who was excellent. I discovered from them that it is actually a problem with the windows system files. I have 8.1.  I went through a "refresh" on my computer which rebuilt all the files. Then reinstalled Adobe as well as my other programs again and Photoshop Elements Organizer works from the standard desktop shortcut.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Editor will not open

I'm running Windows Vista (Home Premium) on a Sony vaio laptop that exceeds (by a landslide) all of the requirements to operate Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.  The organizer opens just fine and functions properly.  When I try to open the editor (either through the organizer or by its self it states "launching" and does not open.  Instead within three to five seconds I get a small windows error window that pops up stating "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working" even though I can't even get the editor to open.  I've tried some of the support suggestions on the Adobe web site but clearly this is something else.  I've also removed and reinstalled the software twice with no changes.  I downloaded all of the windows updates as well.  PLEASE HELP!

    Re: Photoshop Elements 8 Editor
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.
I found this in the Elements forum and it worked!!!!

  • After 2 mos, Adobe Elements 12 Editor won't open

Worked fine before, now Editor won't open at all either from the Organizer or from anywhere else, such as Lightroom. Suggestions please

Interesting.  I just closely examined the error dialogs I was getting when PSE 12 failed to launch.  There were numerous problems with case sensitivity errors for various frameworks inside the application.  For instance, one of the errors complained that it could not find the "AdobeLinguistic" framework.  The reason evidently is that the name was actually spelled without capitals.  It was "adobelinguistic".  I manually correct quite a number of these types of errors by renaming the offending area in the Framworks section of the application bundle.  This continued with each launch.  I'd get a new error.   I'd correct it and try again.  Another error.  Another correction.  Finally, it got past all the issues and launched PSE 12.  However, at that point, there was some internal error in PSE 12 (no surprise) that prevented it from running yet didn't show any kind of dialog where I could attempt to perform any further corrections.  I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that I have my disk partition setup as a case sensitive partition.  If someone else has a disk that is not case sensitive, I suspect they wouldn't see this error.
I've reported this as a bug on the Photoshop Family Customer Community in the hopes that someone from Adobe will see it and take corrective action.
I realize that some of you may find this post over your head a bit technically and for that I apologize.  But since I had already posted here earlier, I wanted to get this out so people would understand that there does appear to be a real issue with PSE 12.  We'll see what Adobe has to say.

  • ? Photoshop Elements 8 Organizer won't open on Windows Vista ?

I installed Photoshop Elements 8 onto a Windows Vista computer and registered. The Organizer opened with broken thumbnails throughout and I could not update the thumbnails. Therefore, I closed the Organizer and opened it again, hoping it would clear up. Instead, the Organizer would not open at all, and I've not been able to open the Organizer since.
Despite several Support cases, Tech Support could not help. They said to uninstall Elements and reinstall it, but when I uninstalled, the disc software screen said I must first deactivate my serial # by launching Elements 8 and going to Help > Deactivate.
However, when I launched Elements 8, a screen appeared with a choice of either a free trial or to enter my serial #. I entered my serial # and got a red "X", and it would not accept the serial #. Tech Support said there is nothing wrong with my serial #.
Tech Support then said to download the Trial Version. I did that, but could not open the trial version either!

"The following applications are using files that need tro be updated by this setup.

So it thinks my Organizer is open and using files, and it's not open. I can't get it to open!
I clicked RETRY and got the same message.
I clicked IGNORE and it was installing files, got almost to the end, said "registering product", then said "rolling back action" and started going backwards.
I had uninstalled my Elements 7 software because I intended to now use Elements 8. I decided to reinstall Elements 7 to use that while I was dinking around with version 8, and now it gave me the same message:
the serial # is in error, or is already in use by someone else!
    Now I can't use either 7 or 8.
HELP! Does anyone know how to deactivate a serial # when the software has already been uninstalled? Can it be done?

    Hi Ankush
    Thank you for your reply!
Unfortunately, I can't try out your suggestion until next summer, because in early November I moved to my winter home in Florida. I left my Vista computer in Colorado Springs in its sorry state of nonworking Adobe Elements versions 7 and 8. I took the software discs with me.
When I arrived in Florida I bought a new computer.  I had left Colorado without being able to deactivate the Elements 8 serial number, so would not be able to use that software disc in Florida. Therefore, I asked Adobe for a refund. (Some of the tech support cases regarding the problem were still open and unanswered.)  Adobe replied that the month warrranty had run out so they wouldn't give me a refund. I argued a little, then gave up.
Therefore, I bought a new Elements 8 software program. And the old XP Florida computer contains Elements 7 and I have the disc.
The new problem: I must know how to DEACTIVATE a serial number before I dare install the new Elements 8 softtware, in case anything goes wrong, or in case I have to reinstall Windows 7 for some reason, which would wipe out any 3rd-party software. I also must know how to DEACTIVATE the Elements 7 serial number on my old XP computer so that I can install it on my new computer.
I opened a CHAT session with Adobe and asked how exactly to do this, because their FAQs and other information aren't at all clear. Here's what the tech said to do. Launch Adobe. You will see "Help" on the "toolbar". Click "help" and select "deactivate". Well, all I get when I launch is a Welcome Screen and there is no toolbar with help there. So I thought, maybe he means, open the Organizer or Editor and look for the Help menu. I opened the Organizer, clicked on Help, and there was no deactivate option listed. So I opened the Editor and clicked on Help and there was no deactivate option listed.
I just opened a case with Adobe asking what I have to do to deactivate a serial number. I don't see why they can't explain this.
Have you any idea how this is done?

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Files Won't Open

Just got my 1st IMAC on Friday and am trying to figure it out.  I have downloaded a trial copy of Photoshop Elements 8 and am not having any luck opening the files I download.
The .zip file downloads into the downloads directory,  I double click on it (had to google how to unzip a .zip file on a mac) and move it to my folder called scrapbooking.  However, when I start elements and go to files > open file and go to the scrapbooking folder I can scroll up and down through the .jpeg and .png files and I can select a file to open, but the open button is greyed out and it won't open.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Wait, wait. You're not installing Elements at all, by the sound of it. PSE does not install by drag and drop. Get that installer out of the scrapbooking folder (for your general info, programs need to go into the applications folder, not wherever you like. Sometimes it doesn't matter, but any program that has any kind of update function will not ever find itself if you put in some random place.)
Starting from the zip file: double click (click once if you're accessing via the downloads stack in the dock) to unizp it. Find the unzipped file and double click that to mount the disk image. Double click the disk image. Double click Setup in the files you see there to run the installer. Do NOT change the installation location from what PSE suggests.
However, your post is very unclear--I can't tell for sure if you already did install it in the wrong place, in which case you will need to uninstall it before doing all this. Uninstall by means of the uninstaller, which for PSE 8 is in the program's folder.
