Photoshop Elements 12 on public PCs in a public library

I need to be able to run the 4 copies of photoshop elements 12 on public library computers without an Adobe ID login...these being public use computers, having a login associated with it it a problem.

Sign-in has replaced the activation method of previous versions, there's no way around it if you have bought retail licenses.

You don't say which OS you are using.
You have to delete the MediaDatabase.db3 file. This file will take several minutes...maybe up to 10... to rebuild so be patient. From what I understand, you must delete this file not just simply rename it.
1. Start by closing Elements.
2. Navigate to MediaDatabase.db3 file.
3. Delete MediaDatabase.db3 file.
4. Lauch Elements...and leave it alone for about 10 minutes while the MediaDatabase file rebuilds.
If on a PC, you have to first "show hidden files and folders" as the file you need to delete and rebuild to get your effect back is in a hidden folder. Note: I recommend changing this setting back to "do not show hidden files and folders" once you have deleted the MediaDatabase.db3 file.

The Library is the top level library (the one on the same level as Applications)

Scanning with Photoshop Elements 12

I recently updgaded from Elements 9 to Elements 12, but the Import pick is greyed out in the File menue in 12. I can still scan in 9 and my everything has been upgraded for OSX 10.9 (Mavericks). Where exactly should the Twain plug in reside to make it work?

I did this and restarted the computer but still nothing. I tried 9 afterword and it still works, but no doubt added these deleted paths back. I'm stumped. Sorry for being a nuisance. I don't suppose it should be this hard. Jumping around and fixing this and then that makes it difficult to know if something is being missed or still needs to be done and then there is the possible issue of accomplishing all this in a certain order.

Also go to the Saved Application State folder in the library and delete anything related to PSE.

Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer ERROR

Perhaps renaming your preferences file might do the trick. the file locations on the mac are supposed to be at these links:
Photoshop Elements 11
/Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
/Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Paths
Folder: /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 Settings
Perhaps locate these files and rename them. Make sure PSE isn't running when you are doing this. After renaming, you can start the PSE to see if it loads normally. It will recreate new files automatically and in doing so also correct or the errors.

You would really need to export copies from the Aperture database, to folders on your hard drive and then import them into Organizer.
Or continue with Aperture (don’t use Organizer) and simply send photos to the Elements Editing app as required.

No! That will give you no end of trouble and will not fix anything. If you ever do need to uninstall you MUST use the uninstaller in applications>adobe photoshop Elements 12.
Go to your username>library>preferences and delete the following:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
com.adobe.Elements Organizer.12.0.plist
com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer.12.plist
and any lockfiles with the same names. That library is hidden. To see it, option click the Go menu in the Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account.
While you're in there go to the saved application states folder and delete any pertaining to PSE. Y
Repair permissions and try again. You will need to select your catalog on first opening organizer.

Possible play iTunes movies from USB flash drive in iTunes on public PCs?

Posting on behalf of a friend who wants to play movies purhased in iTunes from a USB flash drive (thumbdrive) on pulic compuers (Win XP) with iTunses installed on them. Again: he wants to play movies puchased in iTunes on computers other than his own and he wants to be able to play them from the USB drive. Is this possible and, if so, how would one go about doing it?

Start itunes on the public PC, and immediately go into itunes preferences > Advanced.
Make sure the setting for "Copy files to itunes when adding to library" is unchecked.
Then add the file to itunes like any other file (either through the itunes menus or windows drag & drop).
The file will stay on the USB, but it will be listed in itunes so it can be played.
When finished watching the movie, it would be a courtesy to others on that public PC to remove the movie from the itunes library. Once the USB is unplugged, itunes will give a "original file can't be located" message to anyone else. This is assuming everyone uses the same windows login.
I've never heard of public PCs having itunes installed. Just curious, where is this at? A library? Workplace?

Tags in Photoshop Elements 11

I just converted to Photoshop Elements 11 and have all my picture file organized using Tags, which has worked very well in previous version of PE.
Everything converted OK but the way PE11 uses Tags is quite confusing.
First, Tags are shown on the right side, but when you click on a group another menu of the tags pop up at the top of the screen, why in 2 places??
Second, In previous version I could choose a group of different Tags and they would all show up. In PE11 if I pick a second Tag the picture screen gives a message "No Media To Be Displayed".
Third, To move from one Tag to another I have to go back and start over.
Is this a glitch in PE11 or am I missing something in the logic of Tags?

Can you help out? I have received an invalid serial number when installing the Photoshop Elements (Windows) 12. I have the serial number from the Adobe website for this product. What can be done to complete the installation?

If the serial number is from Adobe website then all you need to do is to copy and paste it in your PSE so that there isn't any error in copying the serial number and inserting it manually in PSE.

I just bought a new computer a VAIO, pink 15.5 screen e series with window 8, internet explorer 10, adobe reader x, Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 & with an Intel Core 15-3210m processor 2.5 GHz with turbo boost up to 3.10GHz1 already installed on it
But when i went to update it sai d i needed a serial number or prove that i bought it (therefore i should have the packet it came in, well it was on my computer but this still isnt acceptable??)otherwise i cant update to photoshop elements 11
What can i do, how can i prove it
i bought it at harvey norman & they seem to know as much about it as i do, which is nothing!!

As your product came with the new computer, the problem can only be solved by the OEM (Original Equipment Maker) because they know or should know what the serial number is for their product.
If you want to get PSE11 then you can buy it from Amazon and it will workout cheaper than buying an upgrade from Adobe IMHO.

Hi Gordon,
It is not a good idea to post live email addresses in replies as this is a public forum and somebody might harvest the addresses for scamming.
For clarification, I will go through the preferences that you should have set up.
Go to Edit -> Preferences - Email
Click on the New button
Give it a Profile Name like MyGmail, select Gmail from the drop down list of service providers and then click on OK
Enter your Email address - this is the account to send the photos from not who you are sending them to. The address should be in the format [email protected]
Enter your name
Enter the password for the email account you gave in 4 above
Click on Validate - It should come back and say credentials validated successfully - if not check your settings.
Click on OK and close the preferences.
Now try sending a photo.

Why cant I access any ICC Profiles in my Photoshop Elements 10

I have installed Red River ICC Profiles as directed. Photoshop Elements 10 will allow me to choose the profiles for my canon printer, however, it will not allow me to choose "ANY" ICC profiles for my Epson Stylus 1280. Whats going on? I didnt have this problem with PSE 7, which I no longer have.

I have found the solution!
Indeed I had to extend my access-list on my outside interface!!!
I have succeeded using ASDM.
First I created a NEW network object for each of my servers. When you create a new object you will be asked for the internal IP address and "this is where the magic happens" you have to set the NAT IP address (the external address) !!!
Secondly I extended my access-list on my outside interface by defining every server and the required service (echo, echo-reply) in the "Public server list". When I performed these 2 steps I was able to ping the server from the internet.
My access-list looks the following now:
