Photoshop Elements 8 Editor will not open

I'm running Windows Vista (Home Premium) on a Sony vaio laptop that exceeds (by a landslide) all of the requirements to operate Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.  The organizer opens just fine and functions properly.  When I try to open the editor (either through the organizer or by its self it states "launching" and does not open.  Instead within three to five seconds I get a small windows error window that pops up stating "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working" even though I can't even get the editor to open.  I've tried some of the support suggestions on the Adobe web site but clearly this is something else.  I've also removed and reinstalled the software twice with no changes.  I downloaded all of the windows updates as well.  PLEASE HELP!

Re: Photoshop Elements 8 Editor
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.
I found this in the Elements forum and it worked!!!!

  • My recently purchased Photoshop Elements 12 will not open.

My recently purchased Photoshop Elements 12 will not open. Clicking to open, will not reveal the usual “edit” or “organize” choice windows. Only the main “edit” working window opens. In a moment, a smaller window within will also open. It states “Photoshop Elements 12 Editor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.”
I am running it on a Dell laptop with six gigs of RAM and a Core i5 processor.
Should I attempt to reinstall? During original installation, the only thing I was not asked was to give blood! So, if reinstalling on the same machine is the solution, will Adobe allow this?
    Thanks,
    Frank

I have tried and failed.  It was loaded from disc just purchased at Best buy.  It loaded fine but will not start up at all.  I have looked for the launch program and tried other methods but no success yet.

    Hi,
Can you post back with the following.
    1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.
    2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 will not open photo files

You are rude, to say the least.  It is adobe's fault for marketing it as compatible.  Yet another reason why I want nothing to do with adobe.  The fact they marketed it as compatible when it is not is what I have a problem with.  I am not blaming the software, I am blaming the company.

  • Photoshop elements 6 will not open!

Purchased photoshop elements 6.  My dad has that one and recommended it for what I want to do with photos.  It was the only elements in our budget and since my dad uses it, I figured instant help should I need it.
I tried installing it.  It said it was installed, but it will not open.  Tried uninstalling it then reinstalling it and restarting computer.  Did not work.  Tried to run it as an administrator.  Did not work.
I have windows vista 64 bit.
If I can't get this to work, I know I won't be buying anything from adobe ever again and will tell all my friends that want to get into editing their photos to stay far, far, far away from photoshop elements.

  • PhotoShop Elements 8 will not open

I have been running PhotoShop/Premiere Elements 8 on Windows 7 64 bit system with an ATI Radeon graphics card since last August without problems.  I have made no changes to my system other than Microsoft updates.
Yesterday when I tried to open either I get an error message that the OPENGL32.dll file is missing on my computer, and to reinstall the software.  When I check the C/Window/System32 the opengl32.dll file is indeed there.
      - I tried restoring my system to a date prior to my last use of PhotoShop, this did not help.
      - I updated the driver for my graphics card to the lasted driver, previous driver update was from 10/2010.
      - I tried uninstalling both PhotoShop and Premiere and reinstalling PhotoShop only.  It still will not open, I just get a 'program not responding' and have to 'end task'.  If I try to open an image file using the 'open with' and select PhotoShop Editor I get the same OPENGL32.dll missing error message.
    Any other suggestions?

I seem to have resolve the issue on my own with the help of the following link:
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/opengl32-dll-not-found-missing-error.ht m
I tried each option and finally option 7 seems to have fix my problem.  After runing the sfc /scannow I am now able to access PhotoShop Elements 8 as normal.
I hope this will help others that may find themselves with the same issue.

  • Need help, Photoshop Elements 11 will not open anymore.

I have Photoshop Elements 11 and will not open anymore, it hangs up on initial window with credits & version info. I tried everything I can think of, shutting down all the background programs, windows update, uninstalling & reinstalling the Photosphop. I am able to open the Adobe Photoshop Editor and I even updated the Adobe from Editor to see if that would help but no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

    You say:
it hangs up on initial window
    but then:
I am able to open the Adobe Photoshop Editor
Does this mean the problem is with the organizer? If so, hold down the shift key when starting it and try creating a new catalog in the catalog manager that should open. If that works, go back to file>manage catalogs and try repairing and optimizing your real catalog.

  • Photoshop Elements editor does not open from Lightroom edit command

I have PSE 12 and LR 4.4 on iMac 10.9.5.  My LR preference is set to PSE Editor and was done so by LR, I cannot change it.  When I try to edit in PSE, an 8 bit Tiff is created then I get the error message that "there was a problem.......".  In the details is this line:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/AdobeLinguistic.framework/Versions/3/AdobeLinguistic
Referenced from: /Volumes/VOLUME/*/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor
      Reason: image not found
I do not understand this, but the problems seems related to the Library, which, I don't know.  I had PSE 12.1, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled PSE 12.0.  It made no difference, same error message.

Before anybody asks, no the editor won't open from the startup screen nor from the right click menu when displaying a folder with pictures.

  • Photoshop elements 12 will not open since updated Mac os to 10.10.2

why can't 12 open? I updated to mac os 10.10.2.  And all 12 does is look for a scanner. will not open. Can anyone help?

Did you trash the prefs after updating to 10.10.2
    Quit Elements.
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following Folder/files:
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Settings
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Re-launch Elements
Also if you haven't updated, go to the help menu in Expert mode and install v12.1

  • Photoshop elements 9 will not open

I recently bought photoshop elements 9 and installed it. I opened it for the first time and it worked fine. I closed it and then went to open it again. It displayed the welcome screen and I clicked 'edit' the welcome screen closed and nothing happened. The organizer will not open either. Any solutions?

I received negative feedback as if I had isolated problems.
I was even given a 10 step solution to one issue with Organizer (which actually if you read it is 14 steps)
AND then when I said that I was not going to do a 10-14 step process for PSE which is designed for simplicity they questioned my logic about the 10 steps.
    See for yourself :
    1) Create a new folder #1
    2) Create a new folder #2
    3) Copy NEF files from camera card to folder #1
    4) Open DNG Converter
    5) Select source by browsing to folder #1
    6) Select folder #2 for new location
    7) Select preferences e.g. Jpeg Preview: Full Size
    8) Click convert
    9) Wait for conversion to finish and when successful exit
    10) Open Organize, then click File >Get Photos >From Files & Folder (then browse to foldeer #2 & click OK)
I am looking at other programs like Aperture.
It is a MAC program and the Apple forum is as good as it gets otherwise the Apple Care and the in-store are a way of dealing with a real person.
The major difference I am told is Layers and frankly I never have used the ability in all the years I had PSE.
This forum is way too defensive, mistakes happen,

  • Photoshop elements 12 will not open

I recently got a new computer and installed my Photoshop 12 disc and everything works except the photo editor part will not open the organizer opens but not the photo editor, tried uninstalling and reinstalling again and no luck.

I have tried and failed.  It was loaded from disc just purchased at Best buy.  It loaded fine but will not start up at all.  I have looked for the launch program and tried other methods but no success yet.

  • Photoshop elements editor does not open

I had photoshop elements 12 for windows working fine on windows 7 professional 64 bit .   Then recently attempted to  install the12.1 upgrade which failed with the usual lack of any useful information.
I removed elements, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, ran the update successfully, rebooted and now, as has been since the upgrade attempt, the editor won't start.  If I right click a photo in the organizer and pick edit, I get a message "Loading the Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor Workspace..." for a couple of minutes, the message disappears, and no editor appears.
How do I diagnose and fix?

Before anybody asks, no the editor won't open from the startup screen nor from the right click menu when displaying a folder with pictures.

  • Adobe photoshop elements 12 will not open photo editor crashes every time.

My elements 12 does the same thing I have seen written here over and over. Can not open editor, crashes every time. It is updated, reinstalled and administrator is set. Does anyone from Adobe read these boards?

I asked you to try that because one thing that often happens is that the dock icon gets corrupted, and it's best to get the simple obvious problems out of the way first.
What do you mean by "several students"? Is this in a classroom situation? Are these computers all on a school intranet together? We tend to assume here that you are talking about a personal version and a problem with your own computer, not an institutional installation, unless you specify otherwise.
If this is your personal computer, the next thing to do is to delete the prefernces. Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elemetns 12 paths
and any lockfiles with the same names. To see the user library in 10.9, option click the Go menu in the Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in the library, go to the saved application states folder and delete anything in there for PSE.
    Repair permissions and try again.

  • My Photoshop Elements 11 will not open up.

I just downloaded my PSE 11 for my laptop and it won't open. It will start loading and then have a pop up that says "Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 has stopped working". I've tried going through to a short cut to the editor, downloading a newer driver for my tablet, restarting my computer, and opening it through pictures but none have worked. This happened to me after I got my tablet with PSE 8 so I got my laptop cleaned thinking it might be my computer but now the NEW one won't open. IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS.    HELP PLEASE!

Which tablet are you using with PSE 11. Also try deleting preferences file. Follow these steps
    Close Elements.
Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Have you tried launching PSE with tablet driver uninstalled.
