Photoshop Elements "Invalid Serial Number"

I recently did a Windows 8 refresh, which uninstalled my Photoshop and Premiere Elements. Now, when I download using the Adobe Download Assisstant and try to enter the serial number displayed in my account under products, it says Invalid Serial Number, this is not a valid serial number, please go back and reenter your number. I don't have a box or CD, because Photoshop and Premiere came preinstalled on my computer. HELP!

I've checked the details on your account and from the looks of it you are using the wrong installer. As in your case Elements was preinstalled on your system, I would request you to reach out to the hardware manufacturer and request them to provide you a copy of the software.

Where are you looking for the serial number?
If you have the disks, the number commencing 1057 is usually inside the packaging. It’s necessary to pull out the white inner box.
If you purchased this some while ago and the product, the serial number should be in your Adobe account. Click on the red Adobe logo (top left on this web page) sign-in with your Adobe ID (email & password) and choose Manage Account. You should be able to browse your purchase history and registered products.

Photoshop CS2- Invalid Serial Number

I am installing my Adobe Photoshop CS2 on Windows Vista.
When I try to install the program after entering my serial number that is on the CD case,
the program states "Invalid Serial Number."
Customer Service gave me new serial numbers to attempt at fixing this issue and those numbers still yielded an "Invalid Serial Number" error.
Tech Support had me create new accounts with admin rights on my laptop (which didn't work) and then gave me a link
about the issue that had nothing to do with me since I have no VCOM software on my laptop (so that too was bogus).
I requested to speak to a manager where the agent diverted with giving me solutions that did not work also in which
he had me use this registry cleaner software and it still didn't work (I didn't have previous adobe software on my computer,
so it wasn't a surprise that it didn't work)
So... Does anyone know how I can install my program on my laptop without getting an Invalid Serial Number error?????

I've only had similar happen once, when I upgraded AI over about 3-4 versions. My S/N was from the first PC release, and the internal database in the upgrade did not recognize the format, or the S/N. In that case, a 5 min. call to C/S resulted in a number to enter from Adobe, and then it took my S/N fine.
Obviously, you've gone that route, and it's not working. Seems that things have changed with C/S, but I am talking over a decade ago. Are you talking to C/S (Customer Service), or T/S (Technical Service)? For "sales" related things, I have found that C/S is the better. I am assuming that they are still separate departments, though both might well be in India.
Now, one question, you say that C/S told you to run on one machine with "administrative rights." Did you try as an Administrator? These are similar, but there can be differences.
Wish I had something else to offer.

I am having trouble installing Photoshop Elements 12. I get to the screen where I can input my serial number and it says it is invalid. in fact the number on the box and the receipt which also has the serial number on it match perfectly but they seem to be one number too long than what can be inputed. What is wrong?? I don't know what to do!

If you bought a boxed product then the serial number should be inside the box in the CD sleeve (this is exactly 24 characters long - 6 x 4). See this picture:
If, on the other hand, you have an insert in the box rather than a serial number then you have what is called a Redemption Code. See this picture:
If this is the case then you need to redeem your code for a real serial number:

If none of the above then clearly there isn't a real solution.

I upgraded to Photoshop Elements 8 in May 2010. Now when I try to access the program, it starts asking for serial numbers and, when entered, I get a meassage it is invalid. What's up?

1. Had you purchased the bundle - Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements? If yes, check whether the serial number which you are using is for Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements.
2. What is the name and version that is written on the Activation window?
3. What is the platform and version you are using?
4. How did you install the product from? Did you use anything like "Time Machine" in Mac?

Photoshop Elements 11 serial number invalid after computr reset

I reset my computer (Windows 8 OS) and all programs installed through disc were deleted. I need to reinstall Photoshop Elements 11, but when I entered my product's serial number it said it was invalid. The program was completely erased from my system, and yet it is still activated. Is there any way to deactivate it without the program being on my system? Is there any way to reinstall it at all?

you don't need to deactivate if you're installing on the same computer (as long as there were no major hardware changes).

Has the photoshop elements 12 serial number issue been fixed? is there a version that works?

I bought a new in the box photoshop elements 12 just before christmas new in the box from Amazon. I tried to install but it said the serial number was invalid. I talked to help staff for hours and could not get it to work. Did this issue ever get fixed? Is there a version of photoshop elements that will work? By work I mean when you enter the serial number on the package that you can install and the serial number will work. I am replacing photoshop elements 7 which says I have installed it too many times.

Reinstalling Photoshop CS4 invalid serial number

I have had this software since 2008. It has been running on the same PC for the last five years, now I have finally upgraded the PC, my serial number is invalid and wont activate. Customer service chat says its an incorrect number and could I provide Proof of Purchase (?) Are you kidding me?! They don't show the software was registered -ever- then why was it functioning just fine for the last five years?! To make matters worse, India chat hung up on me -twice!! So I get to thinking, I wonder what our corporate serial numbers say on the Adobe Volume Licensing site -guess what?! They're invalid too!! Coincidence?! I think not! I want an answer as why any serial number I enter from Creative Suite 2 Premium, Technical Suites 2, 3 and 3.5 and a privately owned Photoshop CS4 Extended are ALL invalid according to Adobe?! Is there a translation error from English to Hindi?! Or are your corporate systems so screwed up, you have no clue as to what is a valid serial number and what is not, so you just lead them around and around and around until you just hang up on them or they get so frustrated and angry, they go get a pirated version and generate a key so they never have to speak to you again. I'm certainly not spending another $800 on another Adobe product that may or may not have a valid key. I want the key I legally own validated!! Today!!!

I too have just been victimized by this same scenario, Windows XP machine replaced by a Windows 7 machine, installed CS4 extended to new machine, no serial # acceptance, deactivated XP CS4, reinstalled CS4 on to Win 7 machine, deleted Adobe PCD cache as seen on blogs and chats, activated Win 7 CS4 and it still tells me invalid serial #'s. Advertise a phone number that allows us to speak to a human being that knows what to do! Don't use delay tactics like people in India that can't make decisions or hope people just give up and buy a new software package!
This is a situation that has me disappointed in Adobe. I always had great performance and stable software until now. And to find out how difficult it is to rectify the problem only because of Adobe's unwillingness to do so is really sad. This is how companies fail, People will spread the word if something is not done to correct and or at least set up a means to help those suffering this debacle.
I for one, am fed up with the hunt and peck search online for an answer and the lack of getting hold of an English speaking person that has a solution that will correct ADOBE'S mistake here. I, like so many I have read about, have a valid copy/ license of CS4 Extended and have only used it on 1 computer until now for many years. We are licensed to use on two computers at a time at different locations, up to 20 reinstalls! This record of valid users and serial numbers is an easy archive by Adobe and should be self explanatory to anyone that researches it. Activated year one on one computer, used for many years on same computer, being activated on a new computer due to Windows XP no longer being supported! How difficult is that? What makes my serial numbers invalid? No one is accusing me of being a thief or Pirate, Adobe just made my serial numbers invalid for no good reason and I have to spend many frustrating hours chasing it down a dead end road! Adobe! See the problem and come forward with a place users can go for a centralized solution! I am a professional that can not afford this interruption to my schedule. A class action law suit is sure to follow if something is not done soon.
Bad press is sure to follow. Your loyal customers will look elsewhere for what they need. I can't believe this is the plan.

This software is expensive to buy originally. This software may just get a reputation that it is too expensive to purchase if Adobe is going to randomly shut it down by any claim they choose. Abuse of power? yes! A company that does this sort of extortion to it's loyal clients won't be around long. If this is a way to force users to upgrade or pay more money to Adobe for a product they invested in years ago, with the expectation of uninterrupted use until the clients chose to upgrade, than shame on the corporate persons behind it. If this is just a bad string of poor judgement, than fix it fast- make a solution for the damage being done to your loyal customers.
There are many other software solutions out there that do many of the same things for a lot less money than Adobe. Without the professional support of their product in the long run, Adobe may be just be another Greedy corporate monster that WAS!
Prove me right in my being a satisfied long term customer, believing Adobe supports its products long term, and fix this serial number problem. My new computer and the old computer are both without a working CS4 system now. What are you going to do about this major software BUG?

The software also came with Premiere Elements and is a student and teacher edition. The Premiere Elements serial number does appear, but it does not work for Photoshop. I have a disk with Photoshop elements 6. I received this years ago and can't recall the source. I need the serial number. The disk has a number below the bar code: *310364900* Is there a way for me to get the serial number to install?

i don't know if this will make you feel better, but if you have a mac, you probably would not have been able to install pse 6 and if you have windows, you probably would have had problems installing and/or using it.
it was designed for os'es that are no longer supported by apple/ms. as you probably found from that chat, pse 6 is not supported by adobe so there wouldn't have been much help for the next step even if you had a serial number.
the current version (pse 12) is available and will work on current os'es.

Photoshop elements 9 serial number not recognized

I have replaced my home pc and when trying to install my copy of PSE9 it's telling me it doesn't recognise the serial number even though i'm copying it directly from the box. Any ideas?

I have photoshop elements 9 on my laptop but I have just bought a MacBook Pro how do I get my photoshop elements into my mac? I got my pc and photoshop pre installed So I don't know the original apple id used to activate it. I have the box and discs but my macbook doesnt have a cd reader..When I follow all the steps and type in the serial number from the box it doesn't work?? Hope you can help me as I really do need to get photoshop onto my macbook ASAP

I can only suggest this but there is no guarantee that it will work.
1) Try to download the PSE9 for Apple MAC from this link:

2) When downloading it, make sure you know where you hare saving it.
Once the downloading is complete, you need to install it. Now I don't
use Apple MAC so I don't know how the installation works in Apple but in
Windows it is a matter of double clicking on the exe file and follow the
instructions on the screen.
3) This method normally works in Windows but Barbara will conform this
for Apple Mac. Also, the serial number in the boxed version is
sometimes platform free in that it can be used for either Windows or
Apple MAC but this might be country specific so you need to try it if it
works.
