Photoshop files into LiveType

Hi everyone.
I was wondering if anyone of you knew how to import a photoshop cs2 file into LiveType without merging all the layers and being able to modify the already existing text created on Photoshop.
Every time I import a photoshop file with several layers, containing text on each layer the file comes up as a 1 layer image, meaning that I cannot modify the existing text. The only workaround that i've found has been to redo all the images on LiveType, but that is very time consuming for several "slides."
I am using LiveType 2.1, Final Cut Pro 5.1 and Photoshop CS2.
Any ideas, suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
Thank you.

About AE...I've use that before but I honestly don't like the final product that you get out of it. I dunno, to me motion and now livetype seem like....liquid, while After Effects still seems cartoonish. dunno another way to explain it.< < </div>
Bizarre observation, utterly unfounded position to assume. AE's output is a direct result of design decisions or operator error.
I do understand that fact that it requires another workflow, but I was assuming now that Photoshop has become a standard format for input and output (even Maya uses it, which they don't import/export from/to any other program).< </div>
This is an incorrect assumption and a dangerously myopic misperception. Photoshop is not a standard for anything. CS supports a large collection of "standard" image formats including psd, png, dng, pdf, jpg, tif, gif. While there are standards defined for formats, there are no standard production tools in this industry. Not a single one.
Besides that, there is the fact of simplicity. It is much harder on AE to great an animated text than just select special effects/glow...done.< </div>
I'm not commenting on this except to say one learns to use the tools one has at one's disposal or one learns to use the tools for which one has an affinity.

How can i turn a photoshop file into a website with knowing code? can i upload Muse or DreamWeaver?
I created a few images (pages for a site) on photoshop and want to turn them into HTML code for a website- Can i Just upload the file into one of these programs and make a file with the correct code imediatly?
I was reading about using EDGE Reform but i did not understand if i can create the code with it, in the end it says it still needs to be sent to website developer after?

You need to look at Dreamweaver as a code editor. You need to learn to create good, clean HTML code with style sheets to make websites with Dreamweaver.
There are tutorials that will take you from a layered .PSD file to HTML. Here's a good one:
    http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/site-builds/from-psd-to-html-building-a-set-of-website-d esigns-step-by-step/
Adobe's Muse is a semi-WYSIWYG website layout creator for small websites (1-5 pages). But there is no way you can go from a .PDS file to Muse, you have to start the site in Muse.
I have seen a few Muse sites and they're OK, but there is some code that Muse creates that is kind of odd. If you want a good, clean website that will work for you or your business, Dreamweaver is the best choice. Alternatively, you could hire a pro.

  • Can't import Photoshop files into Premiere Pro

I am learning Premiere Pro CS6 and I am using a book titled "Classroom in a Book".  One of the exercises is to import a Photoshop file into Premiere Pro.  I received a generic error message "The importer reported a generic error".  I found that if I run Premiere Pro as an Administrator that the issue goes away.  I wasn't too worried about it until I realized that my ShuttleXpress does not function when I am running Premiere Pro as an Administrator.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on???? This is very frustrating.

I only have one account on the computer and it has Administrator priveleges.  What I am doing to make it work is opening the application using the "Run as Administrator" command (e.g., right click application shortcut on desktop, choose "Run as Administrator").  I am not a Windows guru but I would guess there is something different between opening an Application with a user that has Administrator priveleges and opening an Application choosing "Run as Administrator".  Also, your answer still does not address the fact that I can't use my jog wheel.
    Anyone else have some ideas?

  • Coverting photoshop file into an illustrator file

Is it possible to convert a photoshop file into an illustrator file - I am using CS3.
My client has sent me a logo which is a small photoshop image of the logotype logo on a black background at 300dpi. The text is 3D and has a gold gradient on one section and silver gradient on another section.
Originally the logo was created by an animator for a film - the animator says he cannot provide a vector file
The client does not want to remake the logo from scratch as the gradients and 3d effects would be different.
I now need to have a vector file for a large print job - can I take the photoshop image - place it into an illustrator file and save as an illustrator file? Is there a better way to do this?
I have tried cutting out the text area of the logo but it is still a bit scratchy round the edges so not really very useful.
    Thanks for you help
    Regards - Brian

The client made the mistake of not having the logo properly made as a vector in the first place. He needs to accept that fact and let the logo be properly created now. It's easy to turn a vector image into a raster (Photoshop) image, but going the other direction is generally not possible without recreating it from scratch. Although the Live Trace feature in Illustrator converts rasters to vectors, you probably won't like the result, and a logo needs to be be properly constructed, not knocked out by Live Trace.

  • How does one convert a photoshop file into inDesign and maintain edibility??

I have an entire print file done by another person in Photoshop but would like to convert it into inDesign for fluidity. 1st of all, is that the best scenario? 2nd, is that a possibility? I've begun working with the files in inDesign by creating Photoshop PDF files for it to be linked to; however, that keeps all of the editing within Photoshop. And I would like to have the entire document in inDesign only. This is my dilemma, can anyone offer advice?
    Thank you!
    K.D.

You can't convert Photoshop to editiable InDesign (though there is a plugin from RecoSoft that claims to make editable ID files from PDF: http://www.recosoft.com/products/pdf2id/).
About the best you can hope for is to leave pixel information in the Photoshop file (where it really belongs) and place that into an ID document, then set any type in ID.

  • Importing Photoshop files into premiere pro CS6 issues

    Hi
I recently re-installed Premiere Pro CS6 on my work computer (i changed from a HDD to an SSD). Ever since I did this I am having an issue importing .PSD files into Premiere.
I try and import a photoshop file. The importer window comes up. The progress bar starts to move, then pauses and the Importer says 'Not Responding'. After a few seconds it comes back and throws up the following error:
Error message - 'The importer reported a generic error'
All projects i previously worked on that had .PSD files in them are now reporting these files as 'Media Offline' meaning I have to replace them with .PNG files which is really annoying.
Any ideas what might be happening? The files I am trying to import are RGB .PSD's. They worked previously without any issues.
    I have Premiere Pro Version 6.0.5 (001 (MC: 264587))
running on a Windows 7 machine with Service Pack 1, 64 bit OS, 16GB Ram and Intel Core i7-2600
Many thanks in advance for anyone who can help me with this!

Yes, MXF should play perfectly in PP CS6, but if you can't work this out at this point, you may wrap your MXF video to something intermediate. as a matter of face, Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 seems to work fine if you import your MXF clips directly from a camera or camcorder, but if have already copied MXF recordings your HDD or you downloaded them from somewhere else, the import error may occur.
So i suggest you convert the MXF footage to something mezzanine we would recommend DNxHD.mov (if you are on a PC) or Apple ProRes .mov (if on a mac). those two intermediate codecs are good mezzanine codecs that handle recompression well and standup well in other areas of post-production (color grading, graphics, compositing, etc,). You can see what I wrote about the solution. "Why Premiere Pro CS6 can't import MXF files?" i hope that it is helpful to you.

  • Importing layered photoshop files into FCP7

I have made a photoshop file (tiff) with a transparent background. The file has three layers. When I import it into FCP7 it appears with a white background. Also when I double click on it it does not show me the layers...Where am I going wrong...help!

Also, there may be a problem with a layered photoshop file saved on a PC.  You may need to open and save in photoshop on the Mac before importing into fcp.

  • Importing Photoshop files into Illustrator CS3

I'm running into a problem in Illustrator CS3 when I try and import a native CS3 Photoshop file. If I try and place the file as a linked file I get an application error stating that there was insufficient virtual memory. And, if I select cancel I get a run time error and Illustrator crashes.
If I try and embed the file I get the same results. It doesn't seem to matter what the file size is and .tif's work just fine up to huge sizes 100Mb+.
As to the system I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate (x64) 8Gb of ram, two SCSI drives with virtual ram assigned to both so memory issues, well, shouldn't be issues.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Ok, so ADOBE needs to get up off their a$$e$ and address this problem, However some of you guys make it sound like its the end of the world... Here's a way to go around it in the meantime- at least this is how my PC is reacting (you might not be as lucky, but worth a try)
After getting my "insufficient virtual memory" error, try closing Illustrator down and then open the file from the OS window (not from within illustrator or browse)by double-clicking the file you'll automatically open Illustrator,it might take a couple of tries but after my second attempt it opened my file (took a little long) and I got a different error message "there was an error with the embeded file what do you want to do - replace file, correct file, ignore file, cancel" (msg not verbatim but close - not at my comp right now)
Then just ignore the files delete the links (they'll show up as blank boxes) If your just using those embedded psd's for previewing purposes you'll just have to save a flattened tiff everytime you make a change and keep saving over that same tiff so illustrator will automatically update it to you illustrator file.
sorry for the long post, but hopefully it helps ease the pain!

  • Not correct import of CS4 3D PhotoShop files into CS5.5

On the default, when I open 3D PhotoShop file (created in CS4) The Environment texture of 3D object (created in CS4) has scale equal ZERO (instead 1, as it was in CS4). How it can be solved? Thanks.

Don't think so. This stuff has changed in every version and this could simply be a design limitation/ compatibility issue.

  • How to import Photoshop files into iPhoto?

I'm just starting to use iPhoto 6 and my picture collection is mainly in Photoshop (v7) format. Is there any easy way to import them into iPhoto or do I need to figure out a way to batch-convert everything to JPG first? I hope not - the images are in a nested folder tree with many different depth branches... If that's the way, does anyone know of a batch convert utility that can follow subfolders recursively?
    Mike

    Mike:
Locate one of them in the Originals folder and check out the ownership and permissions on it. Try resetting the ownership and permissions on the entire iPhoto Library folder as follows:
Setting Permissions for iPhoto Library Folder
1 - Select the iPhoto Library folder and type Command-I.
2 - When the Info window comes up go to the Ownership and Permissions section and make sure You have Read & Write permission and that the Owner and Group have Read & Write also. Others - Read Only.
3 - Then click on the "Apply to enclosed items..." button.
Just in case also do a batch "unlock" according to this Apple KB document: iPhoto 6: "Unable to upgrade this photo library" message. Although you've upgraded your library OK this just unlocks any file that may have gotten locked somehow. Just a precaution.
For those that you can't import select one and bring up the Info window, type Command-I. The in the Default Application section select Preview as the default application and click on the Apply to all... button. See if that helps.

  • 9.2 doesn't allow dragging photoshop file into album artwork field?

    hey all.
i've often used photoshop to quickly clean up/crop bad album covers before adding them to my albums.
this used to be super easy: just open in photoshop, make the changes, then copy and paste into itunes' album art field in the bottom left.
however, since the most recent (9.2) update (using os 10.6.4 and photoshop cs4), this is apparently no longer possible. i now have to SAVE my file before going to the desktop and then dragging it into itunes? are you kidding me? now, whenever i try to copy/paste my album covers from photoshop, the itunes art field just turns into a black square and then the art disappears. is this for real?
am i the only one having this problem? a google search turned up no results. this is indescribably annoying; why would apple remove this perfectly functional capability? please tell me that there's a setting or something that was changed somewhere.
    any help would be outstanding...

I didn't update to 9.2 when it came out because of reports that it was buggy. But I did upgrade to 9.2.1, and now am having the same problem as the above. I have used photoshop to clean up/change/create art for almost all my music, and have always just dragged and dropped into the itunes artwork field. Now this doesn't work. Any suggestions?

  • How can I avoid pixilation and image degradation when I import PhotoShop files into Final Cut Pro X.9?

When ever I import a RGP file (11.8 MB) into FC 10.9 I get pixilation with jagged images showing up on the full screen view.
Any way or possiblity of solving this problem?
    Happy New Year!

An RGP file?  Not officially supported by FCP X.  Now, if you're going through Photoshop, save it out as a PSD or PNG, you'll be fine.  And make sure the frame size matches the frame size of your FCP Project tilmeline.  If it is smaller, and must be enlarged to fit the frame, it will pixelate.  Can't enlarge digital images much without distroying them.

  • Really wierd stains when inserting photoshop files into my indesign document

    Dear Indesigners,
I had encountered this problem before. Then I exported the file as JPEG and printed from there on.
But now it really bothers me what adobe is doing.
I am creating a birthcard. There for I designed the background (in indesign with simple lines & circles). Photo with ribbon I designed in photoshop. The circle pattern around the picture is also in Indesign.
Whenever I print this file from indesign I get really wierd stains on my Photoshop part of the document.  You can verify this in the attachment.
If I export this and print from there, the stains are nowhere to be seen.
Is this some weird setting that I have looked over? The Photoshop document is in CMYK format.
    This is the export file:
This is the scanned, printed file (increased contrast)

  • Why are my photoshop files distorted and not the tifs?

    Hi,
I've been importing tifs and photoshop files into my FCE project, and here's my problem. When I view the .psd file in my canvas viewer the still is squeezed and does not fill the entire frame with white background above and below the still. I then import the same file but resaved as a tif and it appears in the canvas frame in the correct aspect ratio. What is going on? (The image properties are 1920x1080 aspect ratio: square) This happens with all the .psd files that are imported into my FCE project. All imported tifs appear correctly.
Other info: I have started with a baseline photoshop template that is 1920x1080, aspect ratio: square. I saved the images either as a .psd file with one layer or tif with one layer. The reason for the .psd file is that I need to have some areas of transparency in my FCE project (I have overlays). Which leads to another question: If I need transparency within the still in FCE, can I save the file as a tif with "save transparency" box ticked on?
    Thanks for any info!

when saving as a png should interlaced be set to none?
Also regarding the tif images...I had been saving them, as a copy and under tiff options:
    image compression: none
    pixel order: interleaved
layer compression: discard layers and save a copy
I assumed that this tiff file would be one layer. Am I incorrect?
And I did a test save with "save transparency" ticked on and imported the image into FCE. It appears that the transparency is there when I view the still in the canvas window. Can I do it this way? Are there disadvantages/advantages to using png files rather than tiffs?
    Thanks!
