Photoshop icons too small in PS CS5 installed on Windows 7.

I have just installed my copy of Photoshop CS5 onto my Windows 7 running as a virtual machine in Parallels on a new 13" MacBook Pro.
The icons down the left hand side and menu items across the top are far too small to be used comfortably.
I see this problem discussed on a number of Adobe related forums but no solutions.
Do Adobe have a fix yet?

Thanks, Mylenium, for letting me know. I suspected as much simply because I couldn't find an answer on any of the forums where people are complaining about this.
I must say I am less than chuffed (British understatement) about this. Adobe are nothing less than an absolute disgrace.
I bought Photoshop CS5 extended for £365 just less than three years ago and it's now more or less useless: certainly difficult to use anyway.
I shall be looking for an alternative and it almost certainly won't be supplied by Adobe.
Strangely enough my very old copy of Dreamweaver works fine running on the Mac. Hey ho.

It looks like it is an issue between Adobe and Microsoft. (Many Adobe programs are responding this way to Windows 8 and 8.1)

there are many many more out there......
I tried this first, it comes with Windows and changes your display properties by application: (but it didn't work)
The program above basicly edits these settings (you can get to these by right clicking on the exe application) I tried many combos, an even tried them under the "change for all users" setting.....NADA!
I have tried editing the Windows display settings: (all screen shots below are with this setting size)
The screenshot below is at 250%. It does not make any difference in the application (check out the menu bar, properties, icons....) If I go over 150% I lose dialog box space...the buttons disappear! If I keep it at 150% the words "Advanced Actions" at the top of the dialog box shrinks slightly, enough to fit the buttons in...) I showed the difference using snag it (12 pt arial compared to the appearance of the UI ~ 4 pt.) This is so hard to see! Same issue in some of the other adobe applications. (fyi...they are all up to date)
Photoshop = same problem
Dreamweaver = working fine
Flash = working fine
Premier Pro = half working....(menubar is ok but everything else is real small)
Muse = not working
Adobe Edge Code = Working fine

Photoshop CS6 Menus and Icons too small on Windows 8.1 with 4K UHD display

So I have seen that I am not the first one to ask this question, but I have yet to find any true resolutions. I recently bought anew laptop, a Lenovo with a 4K UHD display which I already love for so many things. But, like a few other programs, the high resolution means the icons and menu text of PS CS6 are incredibly small, which may be alright on a TV, but on a laptop screen, it make it incredibly difficult to work. I have tried all sorts of different approaches in Windows, such as changing the OS font sizes and icon sizes, which do indeed change everything else on the computer, but PS is still the same tiny size. I have also increased the text size under the interface preferences to large, but with little real change. I understand why this is happening, but I am hoping that there is some sort of workaround, beyond just bumping down my screen resolution, which defeats the whole purpose of using UHD to edit photos. I have heard rumors of being able to code in some UI changes manually, but have found no concrete examples of how to actually do that.
I am sure that it would not take Adobe too much time and effort to create an update to help with scaling, but they are very set on pushing forward with Creative Clound, leaving the rest of us loyal customers to the dust until we pay up. If anyone has found any resolutions or workarounds, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

Well other than that, I can't offer anything else as a forum volunteer. I have no idea if anything, what Adobe plans to do for CS6.
I do know that Photoshop CC 2014 has a 200% ui feature for Windows and you might like the Photography Plan which for $10 monthly includes Photoshop CC 2014 and Lightroom for $10/month.
You can trial CC 2014 to see if it does solve your situation

Characters in Photoshop 8 too small

After installing Photoshop 8 successfully in my new computer equipped with Win 8.1, the characters are too small (size 6 and 8), so are the tool icons. In my old computer equipped with Win XP, the characters were normal (size 10 and 11) nd icons larger. I arranged in Win 8.1 that all display's characters have the size 10 or 11. Photoshop 8 doesn't follow it. How to make it display the same sizes as it is in the other applications which follow suite? Thank you.

Sounds like you have a high resolution display. The Photoshop user interface has the same number of pixels it always had. Its just thatthe you pixels on your high resolution display are much smaller then the ones on your old low resolution display. Your old display had a resolution around 100 DPI your new display had a resolution around 300DPI so everything is 1/3 the width and 1/3the height of your 100 dpi display 1/9 the size you use to.
Adobe is working on making their PC UI adjustable to be useable on high resolution displays. Like they did in the Mac Photoshop version. For now Attach a external display to your laptop. All desktop display have low resolution around 100DPI. Photoshop will not be the only application you will have problems with.

Like the title, everything is too small. This applies to all my adobe software. The software was given by my school and not pirated , I can update all of them. Now photoshop is at 13.0.1 and it won't update any further. Help?

I don't know if it does, but as the software running on the Mac that could be aware of the Mac's retina display, Bootcamp should provide some sort of pixel-doubling compatability mode or something, right?
It still isn't clear why you are not using the Mac version. Do you have a serial number? Have you tried installing the Mac version and using the serial number to activate it?
If you're not sure of the serial number, anymore, you can try using the Belarc Advisor to analyze your Bootcamp partition and find various Adobe serial numbers:

And if what the school has provided doesn't use serial numbers, then talk to them about supplying a Mac version for you, then.

Elements 13 editor screen font, icons too small to read on Surface Pro 3

I thought this product was designed for high resolution screens. The Experimental sttings in regular Photoshop work fine. Am I missing a setting that is too small to read?

Elements 13.1 provides manual control for settings 200% scaling for HiDPI:
Choose 200% and see if it resolves your issue.
Choose Help>Updates... to install the PSE13.1 update.

Firefox toolbar text size & icons too small

Hello Firefox Help:
I have Windows 7 Home Premium with Firefox 3.6.13.
The icons and text is far too small in my toolbar. I used the add-on "Theme Font & Size Changer" and it helped with the text. However, all of icons are too small.
I recall this being a problem with Windows XP Media Center 2005. Is this a "bug" with Firefox and Windows 7?
How do I change the size of the icons?

Increase the String pref layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from 1.0 to 2.0 in 0.1 steps to see what works best.<br />
In current Firefox versions this pref is a String value parsed to a float and allows to fine tune the dimensions of all elements (user interface and web pages) more precisely.

If the content on websites needs to be adjusted after changing prefs then you can look at NoSquint or Default FullZoom Level.

Another Failed CS5 Install in Windows 7

I have seen many users post similar problems as mine. The StartSrvice fails then the certain values aren't set in the database that lead to fatal SQL errors. The thing is CS5 had been installed and running on this same machine before. I simply had to replace a drive that died. I used the Acer replacement disks to install Windows and then installed CS5. Now, with the same set up, the install fails. s
The fatal errors involve the failure of the installer to create the database begining with ArkServiceControl;SERVICE. I ran PC Doctor on the drive...in fact on the whole system and everything passed. Given that so many people have this problem it has to be the installer...at least the 64 bit installer although as I said, I installed and ran this prior to the drive going bad. That was a 1.5 TB WD drive abd this is a Seagate 1.0 TB drive.
I have installed this first with all background applications on and after uninstalling it, installed it with background apps off. I also tried disabling all non Microsoft services. (Just in casr there was a program or service that was stepping on the install process)
This is crazy and I have tried everything I can think of. Has anyone solved this issue? What does Adobe have to say about all of the problems users have had with the 64 bit installer? I have this expensive program but can't use it and I have a lot of editing to do.
EDIT: Actually even with the rrors including the FATAL ones, Photoshop opens. To me a fatal error means the install ends without completing. What effect do these error have on the performance or the capanilities of PS?

The original install was on a newly created Windows system so there wasn't anything to uninstall. Then I ran the MSFixIt that reported no problems. The uninstall from when I did have the failed CS5 install cleaned everything out. My system is working. I installed my NIK software and it's seems fine. I don't know what functionality I am missing because of the install errors.

Photoshop Elements 13 Icons too small

After recently installing Photoshop Elements 13 onto my new Dell laptop, all the icons are rather small, yet they show they are at the largest size. When taking a photography class and we uploaded a RAW photo, the instructions were too tiny to read and I had to use a magnifying glass to read them. Anyone have this problem before?

Have you used Help>Updates from within the pse 13 editor to get the 13.1 update?
After that in the pse 13 editor you can go to Edit>Preferences>Display & Cursors and set the UI Scale Factor to Large-200%.
Then restart the pse 13 editor for the setting to take effect.
Also, you might want to install the 13.1.1 update, which fixes some bugs in the pse 13 organizer:

Photoshop prints too small in windows7 and windowsXP

I have just installed my new OfficeJet Pro 8500. Everything went fine on both my new os7 and xp machine. Documents print fine. The test page Printed fine. When I tried to print cd labels from both machines it prints them 1/4 size. I have checked everything I know to check. different label pages.....to no avail. What am I missing?

I had the same problem and wanted to pass on the solution. Photoshop confuses printer driver names when it prints. HP installs both a standard printer driver and a fax printer driver and the similar names get messed up in Photoshop. The proper thing for any application to do is to use the default printer and stick with it unless you change it, however that isn't the case here.
How to fix it, you ask? Go to Start - Printer and Faxes and select the HP Fax printer driver. Right click and select properties. At the top of the window, change the name to something different. I recommend adding the word "Fax" to the beginning of the name. This changes the name enough that Photoshop doesn't get them mixed up. Save your changes and go back to Photoshop.
Enjoy printing directly from photoshop without having to convert to JPG on your HP Printer!

Windows on Retina display shows up icons too small

Hi. I've recently installed bootcamp because I have to use a software that is specifically for Windows (Autodesk 3ds Max, pictured). When I tried to use the actual program, I find that the icons and the contents are displayed according to Apple's spectacular retina display. Yes, I love high resolution, but in this size... I can't really make out what they say nor click them accurately if I'm looking from a distance. Anyone knows how to make these icons and text bigger?

that doesn't work. Boot camp works so that normally other icons and texts are big enough to be seen from afar. As you can see, the menu bar and the tool bar got changed to appropriate sizes. But other buttons (the polygon buttons on the left and content on the right. Not to mention the timeline bar below) did not get that increase. Though this is specific to an autodesk product, I think this question belongs more here, as it is about compatibility of applications on bootcamp

IOS 7 - Charging Icon Too Small on 4s

iOS 6 had big battery icon in the middle of the screen when phone was locked. iOS has a very small icon in the upper right corner only. This is very hard to see when driving and charging phone when cable can can become loose. Any chance the old icon will come back in next release?

PPro CS4 and CS5 installed and Windows 7 default launch from project dbl-click is...CS4?

This is sort of a curious one. I have to keep CS4 installed to edit Camtasia files as their codec is a 32 bit no-go with 64 bit CS5...
Oddly, when I double-click any PPro project (most were created in CS5), they will launch CS4, not CS5. When i go into properties and attempt to link a different application as the default for this project type, I browse to PPro CS5's executable and choose it, but end up back in the "Open with" dialog which again, only shows PPro CS4 as an option.
Oddness... anybody else seeing this? I just launch CS5 from it's shortcut and it loads whatever I want without an issue, but I still double click without thinking 3-5 times a week and have to back out...It's an annoyance.

Are you comfortable wading around in the Windows registry? If so, you can probably fix this with a quick digit change:
In the Registry Editor (launch regedit from the Run dialog), find the following key: Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open\command.
Once you select the "command" key, you'll see the program destination string on the right side; likely it's pointing to CS4. Double-click the "(Default)" string and change the value to to following, exactly as pasted here:
"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe" "%1"
That's with the outside quotes and everything. OK the change, and you may or may not need a system restart, but that should correct the issue. Basically the file extension (in this case, .PRPROJ) is associated with a class (Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project), and that class points to default application. Once that's fixed up, the chain should be put back together.
Also, there is another key in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project\shell\open\command. Changing the above should change this as well, but you may want to check it.

Right side menu too small font size of letters in Windows 8.1 High DPI screen

Hi, I just own a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and high resolution screen.
When I start Adobe Reader, the document area seems to be readable, with "normal size fonts", but the options menú in the right side uses a very small fonts size and is hardly readable.
I tried to change it using the Windows "change menu, title, icons size, but withpout success.
Any solution for it?
By the way, in a Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch, there is not "magnyfying glass" combination key and the zoom function of the touch screen doesn't work either in that right side menu área (it works in the document area, not in the right side menu area).
Any help will be welcomed.

Thanks for your suggestion, it was somehow helpful, or, let say, half and half.
It was helpful in the way that when I opened the preferences Windows I was not able to see the full window, there was a part of the right side of the window that was out of the screen. So, when I changed the "scaling settings options and behaviour" from "Auto" (default value) to 100% everything was in the display.... So, this was of high help.
BUT I was not able to find any way in all the suggested document for making the fonts used in the right window of the Adobe Reader, the one where the "Tools" and "Comments" menus are displayed more readable, bigger size, than the one that the product uses by default in the High DPI display.
So, thanks for the suggested document that helped to solve the first point.
BUT
Any other idea that could help for changing the fonts used in the "Tools" or "Comments" menu window?
