Photoshop keeps quitting

Before it even finishes loading up, Photoshop quits automatically. It's version 8.0. Any suggestions?
-Adam

Just off the top of my head, if I remember right, photoshop 8.0 is a really old version. That dates back to the old 10.2 days if I remember right, so I wonder if it's compatible with tiger 10.4 - or you may want to see what kind of upgrades you can get and see if that helps.
Edit: forgot to mention that if you haven't, it's a good idea to repair permission or boot from your software cd and run disk utility and see if that helps.

  • My photoshop keeps quitting every few weeks. My subscription is active. System Info - OS X - 10.8.5.

I have been extremely frustrated with Adobe CC. It has delayed my image delivery to clients because photoshop keeps quitting and I am asked to renew subscription or go on trial. I find it ridiculous that Adobe has not found a fix to this issue after over a year now. Every month I am asked to renew my subscription and now I cannot even open photoshop and my subscription is active. I am being told its an apple issue. I spoke to 3 senior techs today for 8 hours and all they could say " Its not our problem ". I dont run any antivirus or firewall. Its very frustrating that my business is suffering because Adobe cannot get their act together. Extremely rude and rather dumb tech support. I am on a Mac Pro. 1GB RAM. Mac OS X. Version 10.8.5

  • Photoshop keeps quitting on 10.5.5

    Hi all
Since I have updated to 10.5.5 a few months ago, photoshop (both CS and CS2) quits unexpectedly... as soon as it launches.
Keeps doing that all the time, I have tried re-installing Photoshop but that doesn't help.
    I even re-installed system (erased n Install)
I sense that it might be a font problem but I am not sure and I don't know how to verify this, esp that Illustrator 11 works fine and I have never had any problem whatsoever with it since 10.5.5.
So I don't know what to do.
    Pls help
I use Linotype Font Explorer X.
    thanks

    rubina,
The TWAIN interface is supposed to be a uniform standard linking applications (e.g., Photoshop) and image acquisition devices (e.g., scanners). Unfortunately, some of the scanner manufacturers do not properly implement the standard, resulting in Photoshop freezes or crashes.
The "problem" solved by placing a tilde before the TWAIN plug-in name is that you disable that interface and possible conflict with your scanner software. The workaround is to just use your scanner software as a free-standing utility, which offers the benefit of allowing you to scan, while using Photoshop for something else while scanning. Remember that scanning through Photoshop directly, even if your TWAIN interface works, means that you will spend all that time just staring at the progress bar while scanning.
The TWAIN problem is serious enough that Photoshop CS4 doesn't even automatically install its TWAIN plug-in.

  • Photoshop CC Quits After Running Camera Raw Filter

During the past week, Photoshop keeps quitting after I have used the Camera RAW Filter and then pressed OK.
    Anyone else experienced this.

I have not, but I guess the generic advice may apply …
    Boilerplate-text:
Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting Photoshop until the appropriate dialog appears after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)

  • Can't trigger LR CC download because Adobe Application Manager keeps quitting.

I recently updated to Mavericks, I have CS5 package installed since it came out, now wanted to update LR and Photoshop to CC. Can't trigger the downloads because Adobe Application Manager keeps quitting. How do I get the dog files????

I can think of a few things to try:
Download and install the latest version of CC Desktop from:
    https://creative.adobe.com/products
Update it until there are no more updates to CC Desktop.
See if that fixes the problem with AAM quitting.
If not, then maybe uninstall everything from Adobe using the normal OS uninstall process, then run CC Cleaner, then reinstall just CC Desktop and PS-CC:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
Before uninstalling it, check your PS-CS5 to see if there are any plug-ins, presets, or other customizations that you want to make note of so you can replicate or update them for PS-CC.

    SOLUTION:
    Navigate to
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014
Locate sniffer.exe and rename it ~sniffer.exe
    SOLVED
This solution was offered by Adobe chat support, after a very long and fruitless exchange. Apparently, the support tech finally asked around, and someone else in the room gave him the correct answer.
Adobe: I understand you are unable to launch Photoshop CC 2014 as getting error Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working on your Windows 7 computer, is that right?
    Me: Correct
Adobe: Thank you for confirming the issue.
Adobe: I will be glad to help you with this.
Me: PS goes through initialization, then quits
Adobe: Please click on start Button and type Event Viewer and open Event Viewer Window.
Adobe: Once you have it open, let me know .,
    Me: Done
Adobe: Now please expand Windows Logs option and select Applications.
    Me: Done
Adobe: You will get Notification on right as Error , Warning, Information
Adobe: Please check if you have any Error Notifications.
    Me: Yes
Adobe: If yes, please double click on Error Notification and check if it is for Photoshop
Adobe: If yes, please copy the information and paste on this chat.

Adobe: Thank you for the information.
Me: It's an AMD HD 6700 display
Adobe: It seems there is an issue with your Graphic Card Drivers.
    Me: Well, yes
Me: But only with PS CC, so the problem is with PS
    Me: I've updated the drivers
Me: This seems to be a common problem
Adobe: Please click on Start Button and type Device Manager and open Device Manager
Adobe: Once you have Device manager open, let me know
    Me: Done
Adobe: Now please expand Display Adaptor option and right click on  AMD HD 6700 and Select Properties

    Me: Error not happening
Adobe: Are you able to launch Photoshop CC 2014?
    Me: Yes
Adobe: It means, issue is with Graphic Card drivers.
    Me: Yes, I knew that
Adobe: I suggest you to contact Graphic Card drivers and check if you can re-install the drivers and use Photoshop CC 2014 with the Graphic Card
Me: SO... PS CC 2014 is incompatible with the AMD drivers?
Me: I've installed 4 versions already. I'm running the latest beta now
Adobe: Could you please provide me with Full name of the Graphic Card?
Me: AFAIK, PS CC2014 is the only program that causes this error
    Me: AMD Radeon HD 6700
Adobe: Dan, issue is due to the Drivers, which are not compatible with Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You may be able to use other products, however if drivers is not compatible with Photoshop CC 2014, you will not be able to use them with Photoshop CC 2014
Me: I think that you have that backwards. PS CC2014 is not compatible with the drivers. It is the only known program to have this problem. Well documented.
Adobe: Please contact Graphic Card provider and check for the drivers or re-install drivers and check.
Me: I did, and they blame Adobe
    Adobe: Okay
Adobe: Photoshop CC 2014 is not compatible with the drivers you have for the Graphic Card, there might be issue with drivers.
Adobe: We have checked with the error logs as well., it show  Fault Module Name: atiocl64.dll
Me: Again, PS CC 2014 is the only known program to clash with atiocl64.dll
Adobe: I can suggest you to check if you can use the product from new Account and use the product or check with Graphic Card provider for the drivers or a proper installation for Graphic Drivers.
Me: Again, I've done all of that
Me: They blame Adobe, and frankly, they are correct. The problem only happens with your product
Adobe: Please use different Graphic Card on your computer and check if you can use it with Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You can follow below link to know more about supported Graphic Cards.
    Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq1.html
Me: Can we elevate this to the next level, please?
Adobe: We have disabled Graphic Card drivers to check if you can launch the product and you were able to launch the product without using the Graphic Drivers.
    Me: Yes.
Me: So PS CC 2014 will not work with this card?
Adobe: Issue is with Graphic Card drivers, we can use Product with graphic Card
Me: So PS CC 2014 will not work with this card?
Adobe: Photoshop CC 2014 is compatible with AMD/ATI Radeon, 6000 series.
Adobe: However you have issue with Graphic card drivers.
Me: No, Adobe has an issue. And I have an issue with Adobe.
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to [email protected] at the end of your chat.
Me: And I'm not the first person to report it, either
    <long pause>
Adobe: Please navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014
Adobe: Locate sniffer folder and rename it ~sniffer.
Adobe: *Locate sniffer file and rename it ~sniffer.
Adobe: Before that, please re-enable your Graphic Drivers as well.
Adobe: Once you done that, let me know.
Me: No such folder. sniffer.exe is present, however
Adobe: *Locate sniffer file and rename it ~sniffer.
Adobe: Please rename  sniffer.exe to  ~sniffer.exe
    Me: Done
Adobe: Just to confirm, if you have re-enabled your Graphic Drivers?
    Me: Yes
Adobe: Now please re-launch Photoshop CC 2014 and check if you can launch it or same error.
Me: No error. Program loads and runs.
Adobe: Please close and re-run the product and check,
    Adobe: * I mean, close and re-launch
Me: No error. Program loads and runs.
    Adobe: Okay
Adobe: Sniffer file is related to Graphic Processor from Photoshop CC 2014.
Adobe: You can keep it renamed and use the product.
Me: What does sniffer.exe do and can I run PS CC 2014 without it?
Adobe: You will be able to use the product without any issue.
Me: I'm sorry that I had to push you for a solution
Adobe: However I will suggest you to re-check with Graphic Provider and see if they have any drivers which you can use with Photoshop CC 2014, since issue is related to the Graphic Processor.
Me: As of yesterday, they did not
Adobe: I am sorry for the Inconvenience.
Adobe: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Me: No, thank you. Hopefully, the problem is resolved.

  • Photoshop keeps crashing

    Hello,
I keep getting "Photoshop has quit unexpectedly" and loosing all my work. It happens a lot, and with no recover work feature I am getting pretty frustrated. I have lost hours of work. Many things seem to cause the crashes, there are some things I know of, and so avoid, but sometimes it happens for no apparent reason. See below for links to the latest 3 crash logs:
    http://public.claromentis.net/andy/crash1.txt
    http://public.claromentis.net/andy/crash2.txt
    http://public.claromentis.net/andy/crash3.txt
Is it just me? Or is the software really this unstable? I'm sure crashes can be caused by third party items such as fonts, custom shapes, styles etc etc But I seem to encounter this behavior on my work computer, home computer, home laptop with no consistancy.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Regards,
    Andy

  • Software keeps quitting for no reason

    Hi
I wonder if anyone has any ideas about this, Adobe Illustrator (CS2 v) keeps quitting when I attempt to use certain tools. Occasionally Adbe Bridge just quits also.
Is this a software issue or a Mac issue? It never seems to happen when I use photoshop. Should I just blank everything and install the software again?
    Many thanks
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
before you delete everything and re-install the software, try to run repair permission; open application folder > utilities folder > disk utility > repair permission.
    And restart after that.
    Good Luck.
