Photosmart 5520e: Copying Photos

I cant find any information om how to copy photos. I have a 5x7 color photo that I want to copy onto glossy 5x7 HP photo paper. Ive been able to coax the photo paper thru the printer..which isnt an easy thing to do. Ige selected "color" on the printer but the picture has a yellow cast to it.
Can anyone tell me where I can go on the HP site to get informaiton on how to properly select settings etc? Or, can anyone tell me what Im doing worng? Thanks!!

Hi,
This is a very tricky operation and the result would be terrible. The best option is to scan photo to your computer as an image and print that scanned file using normal print function.
Regards.

  • Cannot copy photos from HP Photosmart with Windows Vista

I know how to copy photos onto my iPod (30G) and have done so before. I recently bought a new computer with Vista and cannot copy photos from my Pictures folder. I get a message that says, "Some of the photos...were not copied to the iPod...because they cannot be displayed on your iPod." What can I do to help fix this? I have tried resizing and using Adobe Photoshop and I get the same message.
    Thanks for the help.

I use Picasa. You don't have to use iTunes at all. Connect the phone with the USB cable and launch the app of your choice, such as Picasa. Click the "Import" button at the upper left. Your iPhone should appear in the dropdown of choices to import from. You can then import all or some of the photos in the Camera Roll. You should be able to do the same thing with Microsoft Picture Manager or any other photo management program.
The reason that Elements is the only choice is that's the only one that iPhoto on the phone recognizes albums in.
You cannot move photos INTO the Camera Roll from your computer; it's a one-way transfer. But you can sync photos to the Photos app on the iPhone. You either use Elements, or just create a folder on your computer for photos to sync, then create a sub-folder for each album you want on your computer. Copy the photos to each album, then go to the Photos tab in iTunes and select the top-level folder. When you sync each sub-folder will become an album on the iPhone.
However, I consider the photo app on the iPhone rather limited and klunky. Instead I use the app MyPics from the app store. It syncs photos from my Picasa Web albums directly to the phone over the air. I can also create albums in Picasa Web from the phone, and upload images from the Camera Roll directly to Picasa Web.
Another way to get photos (and other files) to and from the phone is Dropbox and similar cloud-based storage solutions.

  • Saving hard copy photos

I have hundreds of hard copy photos.  Need to make room for storage and want to either copy, scan to discs.  Which is the easiest, quickest way to do this.  I have a HP Photosmart All-in-One e-printer.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

What printer model? (There are many Photosmart models.)
I would suggest using Solution Center to scan the files, use "millions of colors" and "300ppi" settings for scanning.  Some models will allow putting several photo's on the glass at once and the scanner software will automatically scan each picture into a seperate file.  This will make the process faster.
Be aware that for hundreds of photo's this will not be a quick process....

  • How to I copy photos from my ipod classic back onto my pc?

How to I copy photos from my ipod classic back onto my pc? My hardrive recently crashed and the photos on my ipod are the only copies I have! The photos were synced onto th ipod originally - not saved or copied as file transfer.

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. I'm not sure which of the recovery tools can do photos offhand, but unless you chose the option to include full res. originals when you loaded the device then what they extract will be fairly low res. If you did opt for full res. then they should be visible on the iPod's drive when viewed in disk mode.

  • Copying photos from one computer to another, with descriptions

After editing photo descriptions and locations in iPhoto, it is desireable to be able to copy them to iPhoto on another computer, with the associated photo descriptions and locations.  In principle, this is possible by selecting all desired photos, then selecting File -> Export...  In the Export dialog box, in the "File Export" tab, select "Include: Titles and keywords", and "Include: Location information".  Copy the exported files to the other computer, and do a File -> Import to Library ...
In practice, this works fine with images taken by some cameras, and not with images from others.  In my limited experience with a Fuji F80EXR and a Canon SX230HS, the above work flow works with the Fuji.  But, with the Canon, while the exported files clearly have the description data embedded in them (as seen by GraphicConverter), it is not imported into iPhoto, nor is it visible in Preview's Inspector.  The workaround I use is to run an exiftool command on the exported files.
Exiftool is a command line utility that can read and write meta data in image files:
    http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
I run the following command on the exported files to rewrite the IPTC Caption:
exiftool −overwrite_original_in_place -tagsfromfile %f.jpg -ext jpg -"IPTC:Caption-Abstract>IPTC:Caption-Abstract" *.jpg
Note that the above command overwrites the files that were exported from iPhoto.  If you wish to leave the original files intact, with an "_original" appended to the file name, run:
exiftool -tagsfromfile %f.jpg -ext jpg -"IPTC:Caption-Abstract>IPTC:Caption-Abstract" *.jpg
I'm not sure why it is necessary to copy and rewrite that data.  Perhaps there is something strange in the format of the meta data in the file as it comes from the camera, and the iPhoto export does not correct this strangeness. Copying and rewriting the data by exiftool seems to put things right.
The above works for me, but is somewhat unwieldy.  Is there a better way to copy photos from one computer to another, if iPhoto refuses to import the description data that it was written to the exported files?

Thanks for the pointer.  I did a test with 10 images, and confirmed the iPLM works, even with the problematic images from my Canon SX230HS.
The workflow is to use iPLM to create a new Library on the computer that has the photos you want to copy.  Copy the photos to the new Library.  Copy the new Library to the second computer using a method of your choice (file sharing, USB flash drive, etc).  Copy the photos from the new Library to the existing iPhoto Library.
iPLM costs $20, whereas my original solution was free (but you need to invest the time to get exiftool installed and working).  But, unlike exiftools, iPLM also copies over the Faces information, so it is likely a worthwhile investment if you use that feature.

  • How do I copy photos from my Mac to my iPad without deleting the ones that are there?

I understand how to sync photos from my iPhoto library to my iPad. I want to copy photos from my Mac to the iPad without syncing, because syncing deletes everything on the iPad that isn't included in my sync selections. In addition,I have several iPhoto libraries and want to copy photos from each of them to the iPad. A further issue is that apparently photos can be synced from only one computer to the iPad -- how would I copy photos from a different computer? (What happens when I buy a new Mac?) I am extremely experienced with Mac, iPhoto/Aperture, iPad, etc. A year or two ago I transferred 1000 photos to the iPad but I don't remember how, and it was probably done with my previous Mac. Now I just want to add some recent photos without deleting the ones that are there. Bottom line: is there a way to add photos to an iPad without syncing and losing what's there?

You can still sync the photos and keep the photos that are already on the device. You have to include all of the albums or events in the pictures folder that you sync from. If you are using iPhoto, select that in the Sync Photos from drop down menu and then select all of the albums or events that you want to sync. Make sure to check Selected Albums, events, faces and automatically include (no events). Using that option will allow you to choose exactly which albums and events to sync.
You have to remember that all photos must be included in every sync so you cannot sync photos from iPhoto today and then try to sync photos from another folder tomorrow, or you will erase all of the photos that were synced from iPhoto. You need to maintain one main Photos syncing folder for the photos that you want to transfer to the iPad. You can have subfolders within that one main folder and you can selectively sync those subfolders. You just have to place all of the photos that you want to sync into one main iPad syncing photos folder.
There are WiFi transfer apps that allow you to transfer photos to the iPad without having to sync with iTunes. I use this one. This app (and others like it) will allow you to use multiple computers to transfer photos.

  • PSE12 Organizer - can you copy photo from one folder to another and import copy into Organizer and still have original in other folder

I have been using folders to organize all my pictures and I will copy photos from folder to folder, often having them in 2 or 3 folders based on use.  I tried to copy a photo in Organizer PSE12 from one folder to another and you can only move it, that means I can only have one copy of the photo.  That is fine if I am using tags and want to search for it, but I want to have mult copies in mult folders. Organizer will recognize that it is there but it won't import it into the new folder. Until I move it, it stays in the original folder.  I can drag it out of Organizer and drop (copy) it into a new folder fine, but it won't show in organizer in the new folder.  Is there any way to copy and have multiple copies show up in multiple folders?

    Hi,
The organizer works on the principle of not having multiple copies of the same photo.
If you have multiple copies spread in different folders, then making changes to one doesn't affect the others. The use of tags and albums are there to give different views of your photos.
You can't have multiple copies with exactly the same name even if they are in different folders. You could select a photo and duplicate it (File -> Duplicate) and then move the copy into a different folder but the name will be different.
If you want different folders for a specific reason, it is possible to use albums to collect the group of photos and then export them to a new folder outside of the organizer. You can also rename on export which is useful if you want to arrange the photos in a specific order.
    Hope that helps a bit.

If you mean you want to save them to your iPad, open the photo stream album, tap Select, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).  If you mean on your computer, save them to your camera roll, then import them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

How did the photos that you want to copy off get on the iPad  ? To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a Mac you should be able to use iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app on your iPad such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

  • I cant copy photo's out of iPhoto, I select them all but if I want to paste them for example to my nas or a folder on my macbook, the paste option wont appear. I tried with export, didnt work either. It used to work, but now all of a sudden it wont.

I cant copy photos out of iphoto (event), I can copy them but if I want to paste them in another folder on my macbook or nas hdd, I dont have the option "paste" If I select some of the pic's it sometimes works.I also tried with export them but didnt work either.
I used to load them into iphoto manged them and then simly copied them and saved them on my nas and/or my macbook's hdd in a folder, but now it wont work. I have now thousents of photo i cant copy, its a mess....
it might be a problem with an update as I had also a mess with my music after updating to the latest itunes.
has anybody an idea how to fix this??

That warning sign comes up when iPhoto has broken the link/file path to the original photos.  Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How do I copy Photos from iPhone to PC?

This sounds like a very simple question. And with my digital cameras, and old phones, this is just a case of connecting the device to the PC. and copying the files from the device to my harddrive. But with my iPhone this seems very confusing and awkward...
It seems I have to use iTunes. And it is something to do with 'syncing'. However, when I select my iPhone device in iTunes, and select the Photos tab. Pressing 'sync' does nothing. And If I select the checkbox beside 'Sync photos from:'. It warns me:
"Are you sure you want to sync photos? All existing photos and albums on the iPhone "....." will be replaced with photos and albums from the selected folder."
I have a problem here. I'm using my girlfriend's computer, and she has 1000's of photos. While I have a few hundred on my iPhone taken from our recent outings and holidays. I'm afraid that if I continue click 'Sync Photos', it'll replace (i.e. delete) all my photos/albums on my iPhone, and copy 1000's of photos from the PC, which I have no interest on putting on my iPhone. I fail to see the point in this??? - I want to take photos on my iPhone, and copy them off onto my PC, I do not want to copy photos from my PC and put them on my iPhone to view.
What should I do? This whole 'syncing' concept, is pretty alien to me? It seems like the idea with iTunes/iPod/iPhone world is about duplicating data you have on one device on another, which spirals out of control. I'm also afraid of charging my iPhone at work, because it wants to constantly sync, and backup all my personal information (i.e. Emails/Photos/Videos) from my iPhone to my work computer, which means that any sys admin can potentialy log into my computer and dig thru my personal information?
I've heard of these 3rd party pieces of software. But I don't see why I have to buy something else, just to copy photos off, when I have already forked out so much money on buying an iPhone. I've read other guides on the internet, and there is mention of being able to view the iPhone as a 'Camera device' in My Computer, and then be able to copy folders like you would on a regular digital camera, but that option is not available for me, only iTunes detects the iPhone, just about.
If you could help me, I'd be much grateful!

What is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes is for transferring photos from your computer to your iPhone only - not for importing photos from your iPhone's camera roll to your computer. As with iTunes content, photos can be transferred to an iPhone from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
When there are photos in your iPhone's camera roll, your iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to a computer. With a Mac, photos can be imported by iPhoto or by the Image Capture application included with OS X, as with any other digital camera.
With Windows, you can use the Windows Camera and Scanner wizard as with any other digital camera. Or with your iPhone connected, you should be able to manually transfer the photos from your iPhone to your computer, which should be available via Windows Explorer.
Under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, deselect automatically sync when this iPhone is connected. Or iTunes includes a global preference setting at iTunes > Preferences under the Devices tab to not automatically sync when any iPod or iPhone is connected.

  • Problems Copying Photos in iPhoto to Folder on Desktop

I am trying to copy photos that are in iPhoto to a folder on my desktop. I have just tried to copy & paste but I keep getting the error message "The items on the Clipboard can't be pasted to this location. One or more of thw items may have been deleted or are no longer available." Most of the photos were transfered from my old mac to the new one via external hard drive, could that be where the problem lies? Please help!

Sorry - got versions confused - under the file menu in '11 - "reveal in finder"
I suspect that your original photo is missing in action
if the reveal in finder does not show the original right click on teh iPhoto library package and show package contents - look (Make no changes) in the masters folder and see if the photo that we tested is there

    Hi beerexpert,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPad. If you are having unusual menu or option behaviour, you may want to try restarting/resetting your device, as outlined below:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
You may also want to double-check that you have available space, as noted here:
