Photosmart 7520e: no signal when print job finished

I previously used a Photosmart 7510 printer. At the end of a print job, the printer emitted a small "jingle." This was helpful in letting me know when the print job was completed. I now have the 7520e model (follow-up model), and it doesn't emit that "jingle" anymore. Is there any way that I can configure the printer to emit an accoustic signal when a print job is completed?
Thanks for any help!

Hello @booth6262
Welcome to the HP Community,
I have checked through the printers menu and cannot see where a setting could be changed to prompt the printer to make a noise when a print job is completed. However, you can try turning the sound effects volume up on the printer to see if that will help.
That would be my best advice for you. If the printer does not make the jingle, it doesn't have the feature built in.
Select Setup, Preferences, Sound Effects Volume, change to Soft, Medium, Loud or Off.
Have a wonderful day

  • Icon still in dock when print job has finished

I am printing successfully to a Brother HL2700 Color Laser over a network. Can do this with Bonjour and also IP Printing. When my print job finishes the generic printer icon stays in the dock with the active triangle underneath it. This is not mission critical, but it is VERY annoying! I didn't need to install any drivers from the Brother site as the printer was automatically added. Could this be a driver issue?
Any ideas on a fix - short of resetting the print setup. I'm not sure this would resolve it, and I don't want to lose the other correctly configured printers - all of which demonstrate the same behaviour.
My MacBook Pro is brand new and has demonstrated this from the day the printers were first added.
Similar reports from Googling the net (some frome way back in 10.3), but couldn't find a fix or an explanation.
    Thanks for any input...

  • HP Photosmart D110 - detail missing when printing tickets and statements

When printing on line tickets or bank statements, the form itself (heading, column heads, etc) prints, but the personal detail data that is on the form does not show.  The print preview screen shows all the data.  There is no error message.  Printer works fine for email and most other documents.  Spread sheets and word documents also only show partial data.  This is a recent occurance; but there had been no previous problem.

Hello, I noticed you said "Network via Wired" and then said "wireless. I will gladly to assist you. Just to you let you know, you cannot be WIRELESS and WIRED NETWORK (Ethernet). You can be WIRELESS and plug the main PC in as USB cable. So here are some steps to downloading the drivers and connecting your MAIN PC (USB) and the others (Wireless).
Connecting to the MAIN PC wired (USB)
    1. Connect the USB cable from the printer directly to the main PC.
    2. Download the drivers from the website (http://goo.gl/BVOOg), or if you have the CD.
Note: Whenever you download the software and drivers from the website. Make sure to choose the FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE.
    1. Choose Drivers and Software
    2. Type in Product name (click search)
    3. Choose Operating System (click next)
    4. Choose Download (scroll down to the FULL FEATURE SOFTWARE)
    5. After downloading the Software, it will EXTRACT
    6. It will give you an option on how you want it connected
    7. You will choose USB for the Main PC
    Connecting NETWORK WIRELESS
    1. Go to Settings on your printer
    2. Choose Network
    3. Choose WIRELESS SETUP WIZARD
    4. This will search for your router (If wireless). Choose your router and it will set the printer up wireless.
    5. Go to the other computers and follow the steps above on downloading the drivers.
    6. When it comes to SELECT Connection, Choose (Wireless/Network)
This way, you can print from your main PC through (USB wired), and the other computers wireless.
If your ROUTER is not wireless, and you only can use the network with a cable (Ethernet), then you can only print by plugging the ETHERNET cable from the router to whichever PC your choosing to print from at the time. Also plug another Ethernet cable from the router to the printer.
I hope this helps out, if you need anymore assistance please ask, thanks.

  • Photosmart C8180 Squeaky noises when Printing

I have a Photosmart C8180 all-in-one printer.  When I hit print and the wheels or mechanics of the printer start to move, I get horrible squeaky noises.  It's not from the paper tray or photo tray but somewhere else.  It happens a lot during the process of the printing before printing actually takes place and once it's done.  The noises are getting worse.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of this noise?  I am worried my printer will break down if not taken care of soon.  I print a lot of photos but these noises also happens when printing documents.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi - Assuming you're in the US, you can call 866-234-1377 for service related options.  As for parts for the printer, you can go here to find the parts that are avaialble for the C8180.  I don't have any idea which part(s) would need to be replaced.  If you're interested in going that route, you might start a new post with that question specifically and see if another user on the forum might have some experience with parts replacement on the C8180.
    Hope that helps.

  • Sending Userid when printing job from SAP

Is there a way to send a userid when printing from SAP?  In order to control printing costs we are requiring user codes to be input to the printer before a job will print. The windows operating system is capable of sending the codes needed to the printer., Can the SAP application send a user codes ?

I don't think so directly unless you use LOCL and capture the Windows user ID, though I'm no printer expert.  You may need to generate reports in SAP but then you're never guaranteed that the spool that was released to Windows was actually output.  We have Equitrac boxes on all of our shared corporate printers.  When the print comes out directly from SAP, the only identification as to where the print came from, other than the name of the Windows print queue, is the generic underlying SAP system user (not the SAP user ID).  We can't track the cost unless the user actually logs into the box to use the printer/copier.
For our high volume color and black/white printers in our data center, we chargeback the print costs based on the Windows queue that the print came from.  As you probably know, you can have many SAP print queues/devices that point to the same physical printer.  We name all of our queues such that the using company/department/application is easily identified and our operators track the costs in that manner.

  • HP 2510 Photosmart - blank page with every print job

    Any suggestions?

    Helo again John
Um, rather too many steps in that for me to wade laboriously through for the sake of the odd blank page at the end of each print run (it's an annoying issue, but not life threatening though!).
But I can assure you that:
    1.  my PC to printer connections are fine
    2.  ink levels are fine
    3.  I clean my PC drives and registry regualrly (at least once every week) and this problem has persisted for months
    4.  I have rebooted my PC several times in the last few months, and also restarted the printer (due in part to occasional power cuts)
    5.  I have no software installed that I can delete
    6.  Test pages alays print fine (no extar page there then).
    7.  The extra page comes from all types of programme - Word, Adobe, Notepad etc)
    Cheers

  • Auto-close print queue windows after my job finishes?

Whenever I print something, a window for the printer opens up showing me the current print queue. That's great. What's not-so-great is me having to keep on closing those windows after they open.
Is there a way for those windows to close themselves after my print job finishes?
    Thanks.

Thanks! (I haven't actually tested it yet, but I did bring the printer up in the dock and set the "Auto-Quit" function, so it at least seems plausible that it will work.)
Perhaps a new low in Apple UI design: an option -only- accessible via a Dock Menu?

  • HP Laserjet utility starts and fails to go away after print job

I have an HP Laserjet 1300 hooked to an Airport base station. After the Leopard install (a default, Upgrade install from 10.4.10), I had to re-ADD that printer in the Print & FAX Preferences panel -- it wasn't simply remembered. That went fine, and printing works as expected.
EXCEPT: The HP Laserjet 1300 "utility" application (for managing the print queue) now activates with each print job -- not just when there is a problem such as "out of paper" as before. No problems are actually reported during or after the print job. And when the print job finishes, it doesn't go away. I have to manually Quit it.
I can't find any option to have the "utility" activate only when it has some problem to report (i.e., the way it worked under Tiger), or to make it go away automatically when all print jobs are finished. Any suggestions?
NOTE: When ADDing the printer in the Print & FAX utility, it did go looking for "new drivers", but didn't announce it found or installed anything new.

Thank you. That's what I was looking for:
Right click on the printer utility icon in the dock when you see it still sitting in there. Select "Auto Quit" from the pop up menu. Click on the utility to select it and open its queue window. Manually quit the utility.
After those steps it appears the utility now activates in the dock and then goes away after each print job that finishes normally.
    Solved!

  • No Printer Job List and No AutoQuit

I have a Canon i70 printer. When I print a document the Canon i70 application automatically opens on my computer. However, when the job finishes, the application does not automatically quit as it used to in previous versions of OS X. The other problem is that be default the job list does not show up in the printer application. So, it's sort of the worst of both worlds. The printer application is open, but doesn't have any information there. To get the job list I have to open System Preferences and double-click on the printer, and then the job list opens in the Canon i70 application. Does anyone know how to change either of these settings (i.e. to get the job list to show by default and to get the printer application to quit automatically after a successful print)? They're both pretty irritating.
    Thanks.

Sorry for the previous replies. Now that you have clarified your issue I can understand what you are experiencing. For the record, I have never had this symptom on any Mac and hence my confusion with what you were seeing.
Whenever I print, the printer queue for that printer appears in the Dock, and if I click on it before it quits I see a pane that provides the ability to Delete, Hold and Pause a print job for that print queue.
If you are not getting the same then I suggest you try resetting the printing system, which will require you to add the print queues again.
To reset the printing system, open Print & Fax and move your mouse over the Printers list. Then hold down the Control button and click your mouse. When reset printing system appears, let go of the Control button and click the reset text. This will remove all printer queues but not the associated driver files. So, if you unplug the i70 USB and reconnect, the printer should automatically appear back in the Printers list.

  • Photosmart 7520e: Getting ink supply widget added to Dashboard on my iMac.

    I have a Hewlett-Packard Photosmart 7520e All-In-One printer.
I was able to get the ink supply widget added to my Dashboard on my iMac, but when I bring it up everytime I click on the Dashbord icon on my dock, the widget comes up but it says "(ink supply) info not available or disconnected."  Yet, when I click on the HP Utility icon on my dock, it pulls it up and tells me how much ink supply I have.
My printer is connected to my iMac, I am able to print and scan things with no problem.
How do I fix this on my Dashboard?

  • Print jobs won't automatically drop from the print queue after printing

I just bought an Envy 7640.  When printing multiple documents, the first print job hangs in the queue after it prints, which prevents subsequent jobs from printing.  The first job continues to show a status of Printing after it prints the job.  I have to manually go into the queue and cancel the finished job before the next job in the queue will print. Having to clear the queue manually each time a print job finishes is not an acceptable fix to the problem.  How can I get the printer to automatically delete the print job after it prints like it's supposed to do?

Thank you for your reply.  The steps that you sent are for print jobs that you cannot delete from the queue.  I also found those instructions earlier, however, it doesn't apply to the problem I'm having with my printer. I don't have a problem deleting print jobs from the queue.  As my previous post stated, when I print multiple documents, the first document prints but it stays in the queue with a status of Printing.  Because it stays in the queue with the Printing status, it prevents the second and subsequent documents from printing. My problem is that I have to go to the queue after every single job prints and delete it from the queue to allow the next document to print.  It's ridiculous to have to delete every job from the queue after it prints.  The printer should automatically delete the job after it prints it, and then print the next job in the queue. How can I make the printer delete a job automatically after it prints it??  Can you please give me a resolution to this problem? Thank you.

  • How do I cancel printer job queue? CanonBJC-250 will not function because of long queue. cannot find control.

Apparently the print order was pressed several times. Now there is a long list of print orders and the printer will not work.

This is more of a Ubuntu-related question than a Firefox one. When print jobs are queued up, you should get a printer icon in the notification area (beside your clock by default). Clicking on the printer should allow you options to cancel the print jobs. Give it a try -- I can't guarantee if it works as I haven't got any printers installed in my Ubuntu.

  • When print selected, printer "prints" only blank sheets of paper. Cartridges ok and test print ok

Printer suddenly produces only blank sheets of paper when print job is set via desktop.  HP Solution Center indicates ink levels ok.  Printed a diagnostic page ok.

I have done all the diagnostics, alignment and cleaning, but it still will not print a test page.  The page printed during alignment uses mostly blue colors.  I tried printing an email and it printed every line or item that was blue on the original.  All rest was blank.  I have downloaded all recent fixes and drivers for Solution Center and printer.

  • Printer doesn't finish printing when multiple jobs in queue

I have a Laserjet 2200D that connected to a computer running 10.4.11 over USB and prints just fine when I only have one print job in queue. The issue comes up when I have multiple print jobs going to this printer, the printer will actually stop the current job it's printing and start the next job, but not finish the previous print job. If I start to line up print jobs in queue, it will only print some of the pages and then proceed to print the next job, but the previous job is already out of the queue and gone. What could possibly be wrong?

No, it shouldn't. But it also wasn't necessary to install any drivers. That's why you should reinstall the Canon drivers from the Leopard dvd.
The reason I installed the drivers is I first was trying to print wirelessly like I did with my old ibook G4 without any problems. When I couldn't get the shared printer to show up, I then read the documentation from apple tells you to make sure both computers are running the same drivers. So I installed the newest drivers which are for leopard from canon's site, but still no luck. The driver from Canon has the same version number as the one listed in the leopard documentation, so it shouldn't matter.
