Hard Reset – While printer is powered ON, pull
the power cord from the printer then from the

and printer. This will trigger a ‘dirty power up’

  • HP Photosmart Pro B9180 Printing Blank Sheets

I have a HP Photosmart Pro B9180 printer. I joined two scanned images into one photo and saved it as a .tif file. I then resized it to 8x10 and it printed fine. When I resized it again to print it as an 12x16 on 13x19 paper, the printer will only spit out blank sheets. I took it to a mini lab and they couldn't print it either.
Anybody have any ideas what might be wrong?

  • Photosmart Pro B9180 printer

I bought my first TI-55 calculator from HP in high school.  Since then I have purchased numerous calculators, printers, scanners, computers, iPAQ’s for home as well untold printers for my practice.  I have always thought that HP made good products and stood behind their products.  When my Photosmart Pro B9180 printer (MY66M1101V / Q5734A) required new ink cartridges last week, I ordered new ink cartridges and printheads from HP.  After I installed them, the printer cycled through its closed loop printhead calibration and allowed me to print one picture and the produced the error code “00C78475”.  I contacted HP service chat on 2/17 and was advised by Brooklyn S. that the code was a hardware error and that the best thing to do would be to replace the printer and that I could not get refunded for the cartridges and printheads I had just purchased from HP.  He offered to sell me a new printer which was not anything like this printer at a discount price that was identical to that printer’s price on Amazon.com.  He also offered to sell me a refurbished Photosmart Pro B9180 for $559.00.  He said he would refer the case to a case manager.  I have not heard back from a case manager.  I called HP support on 1/18/2011 and spoke with Manoja (reference # 804 770 0954).  He referred me to the ISB TEAM, HP, 11311 CHINDEN BLVD. BLD. #7, MAILSTOP 475, POST J3, Boise, Idaho 83714.  He said I might be able to return the unused cartridges and printheads to them but could not provide a phone number or further contact information for the ISB-Team.   I would like a solution that allows me to print archival photos.  If there is no way to make this printer work again, I would like to return the opened but unused cartridges for a credit or a refund if possible.

    Hi Photo3
I know your post was made a number of months ago but I see that no one has replied to it. Has this issue now been resolved?

  • Anyone printing with HP Photosmart Pro B9180?

Has anyone been successfully printing with their HP Photosmart Pro B9180 after upgrading to Leopard? I am considering buying one of these printers but only if I am sure that it will work with Leopard as a network printer.
    Thanks for any comments.

I haven't printed a lot yet, but have run a few test prints on my B9180 under Leopard and have been getting very good results, comparable to those I got printing under Tiger.
So far my tests have been restricted to printing from Adobe Lightroom and onto HP Advanced Glossy paper, but I haven't seen any problems yet. I hope to be trying some other papers and applications over the next few days.
Note: The print dialog has been completely reorganized under Leopard, and some of the options you need to adjust to get good prints have been relocated to places that aren't obvious, so it pays to poke around.
    Jim,
Did your monitor appear any different after installing Leopard?
I did manage to pick my way through the new dialog boxes and found everything that I needed but the color is bad.

  • I have faint but noticeable horizontal lines on prints from my Photosmart Pro B9180.

When printing grey scale pictures on my Photosmart Pro B9180, I can see faint horizontal lines not quite 1/4 apart.  I have aligned the heads and cleaned them 3 times and the lines remain.  The Head analysis indicates that three of my heads are in fair condition and one is in good condition.  I also notice when the print out after head cleaning is on glossy paper that multiple lines appear in virtually all the color swatches.  I have not received a "replace printhead" message, but I'm beginning to thing that is the next step.  Any insights?

This document may help. I have a feeling the manual cleaning section may be applicable:

  • Printing Success with Aperture 1.5.2 and HP Photosmart Pro B9180

With so many "hit-and-miss" posts regarding printing, I thought I'd post my result with Aperture 1.5.2 and my newly-acquired HP Photosmart Pro B9180.
Firstly, I have my monitor calibrated using ColorVision's Spyder Express. It's a cost-effective solution to monitor calibration and what I see on the screen is what I'm seeing in the print. I calibrate weekly.
Secondly, I'm using HP's Advanced Photo Glossy Paper for prints. HP provides the ICC profiles for their papers (and thus far, they seem to be dead-on accurate).
Thirdly, and I believe this is where issues can occur, is to set, via the Print Driver, color management as Application Managed. This bypasses the default of allowing the printer to manage color for you. This allows Aperture to use the ICC profile of the printer and calculate the proper color "conversion".
Finally, via the Apple's support article on optiziming print (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302821) save the customized printer setup for a specified print size, paper, etc.
I have made 20 prints thus far and all have come out satisfactory. The only "tip" I'd make is that I noticed the gamma setting in the print dialogue is ideally set at 1.15. Otherwise, the print seems to be a bit dark.

I just got a B9180 too so thought I would try printing from Aperture. As you suggested I set Gamma to 1.15 - but I still feel the prints are a bit dark. Tried 1.20 but that looked identical to 1.15!

    Hello apple support community,
I made changes in the single user mode and my MacBook Pro does now not boot anymore. It displays a grey bar and the "work in progress" wheel. My intention was to change my admin password following these steps:

Any idea how I can undo changes made in the single user mode?

  • HP Photosmart Pro B9180 - Printing photos on Hi Gloss paper.

I am a professional photographer and I have an application that requires perfect glossy prints.  When I compared the prints that are output of the B9180 to the prints I have done at the professional studio,  there is no comparison.  The professionally done prints are glossy no matter what angle you hold them or the direction of the light source.  The B9180 output has a different light absorption rate for each color.  If you view a print at an acute angle to the light source,  you can hardly make out the subject.  When I expressed my grief to the "offshore" HP technician,  he (or she) stated that the Pro B9180 was incapable of printing on the Hi Gloss paper.  When the technician's supervisor contacted me, she offered me $50 for my B9180  in trade for a less expensive model HP printer.  Is it true that there is a less expensive printer that will do a better job printing glossies?
The biggest question:  Is it possible to produce a print on any HP printer that will measure up to a glossy print produced by a professional lab?

I just got a B9180 too so thought I would try printing from Aperture. As you suggested I set Gamma to 1.15 - but I still feel the prints are a bit dark. Tried 1.20 but that looked identical to 1.15!

  • HP Photosmart Pro B9180: resolution to mention ?

    Hello,
I'm quite happy with my HP printer 9180 and get excellent results with it for my "art photography".
I generally use Photoshop cs3 for pp and I recently bought the Nik Software "Sharpener Pro 3.0 (as plugin).
By using it I can make the difference between sharpening for screen or sharpening for prints.
I have therefore to mention a parameter for the resolution of my printer (2400x600, 1200x600, 4200x1200, etc...etc...).
What resolution do you think I should mention for this setting ?
    Thanks in advance !

    Hi there,
This article should cover the issue you are experiencing but the product may need servicing. Give the steps outlined a shot and let us know if it helps (particularly leaving the powersupply unplugged for 30 seconds and plugging back into the wall directly and not into a surge protector).
    Best of Luck!

  • MacBook pro battery not charging anymore, Replace Now, Unibody 2011

    Hi everyone
I have a MacBook pro unibody from 2011 (usually used on power but sometimes dischared) and suddenly my battery is indicating "not charging" (is constantly to 0%) and I have the following diagnostic (in the about my mac).
If I remove the plug, the Macbook shutdowns immediately, I cannot connect it to any wifi network, and the date & clock are reset if I unplug it.
I tried the SMC reset and event the reset the NVRAM (PRAM on intels) (I am not sure about the SMC reset as there is no evident signs it has worked...).
My battery only has 120 charge cycles... and my warranty is of course finished. I have read on some forums that I maybe have to "unplug the battery" manually ? And changing the so few used battery seem to be too expensive...
Does anybody has an idea ?
    Thanks for your help

Whether you had the Applecare extended warranty or not it would not cover the battery on a 2011 model. Apple considers the battery to be a consumable item that will fail eventually. Because of that after the first year of ownership Apple does not replace the battery for free, in warranty or not.
That is not necessarily the case.  I had a battery replaced free of charge well after one year of use.  There is latitude exercised by Apple in determining if and when a battery should be replaced for free.  I suggest that there is a strong argument in the case of one with 120 cycles.  As is the case with any part, some that are produced are defective and fail prematurely, whether it is a battery, HDD, RAM chip etc.
    Ciao.

What do I do with this 40 pound desk weight call a HP Printer? Will HP own up to the fact it made a lemon? Tell me what is being done to fix the many problems with this printer. Anger is a mild  word compared to what I would say. After spending hundred's of dollars on ink and a printer it's very sad to find you have a large paper weight sitting on your desk.  I've been a loyal HP customer; having purchased a lap top computer, 2 scanners, a  laser printer, a desk top computer and this this printer. Today I tried to print a page and the printer says the paper jammed; yet I can print a test page all day long and no jam. I've already downloaded the most recent firmware and drivers. If the jammed paper problem doesn't get me the a "service stall" will. It would be great if HP would own up to it;s problem with this computer and tried to help all those who purchased  this printer worldwide. I think HP be ought to be looking at recent events in the auto industry and see that putting ones head in the sand is going to bite the end they dear most, profits. Obviously they don't have customer satisfaction in they business model.

    Hi jogchum
The false error paper jam is most likely paper mismatch issue.
The printer properties for the paper have to match the application you are printing from or will cause this error message.
What is the paper setting from the application that you are using set to?
You said you are selecting 10x15cm. paper type,  HP advanced Photo paper250 gr. from the printer properties.
Can you print us letter size from these applications without any errors?
    cherryart1951
I understand you are unable to install the printer software.
During the install is it not finding the printer and then reversing back?
How is the printer connected? (usb/ethernet/wireless)
If you are using it by a usb connection then you can start here to resolve the issue.
This is a url how to get to the device manager and check for conflicts.

Look for the printer entry, might be other devices, unknown device, delete the entry by right clicking it and select uninstall, it might show up under universal serial bus controllers as usb printing support,  delete the entry by right clicking it and select uninstall.
Then disconnect the usb cable and run the install again.  Don't connect the usb cable till prompted.

  • SkyDrive (not SkyDrive Pro) does not sync anymore

    Hello guys,
Recently I noticed that the built-in SkyDrive in my Windows 8.1 stopped working. If I see my SkyDrive folder on File Explorer, it always shows the blue sync arrow icon regardless of many hours I waited for it to complete.
Sometimes I open Task Manager then I noticed that SkyDrive.exe is not running. I started it manually and tried to give SkyDrive.exe a high priority for both upload and download bandwidth in NetBalancer. Still it does not finish syncing.
It consumes network traffic only ~20 KB per second.
Out of curiousity, I attach a debugger (Microsoft Visual Studio 2012) on SkyDrive.exe and see the numerous repetitions of the same error message:
Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? And how to resolve this issue? How to reset the built-in SkyDrive on Windows 8.1 possibly?
