PI 2.0 configuration archive problems
Hi,
I've got 2 problems with archiving device configurations in Prime Infrastructure 2.0.
1. Configuration archive job status is Completed and Last run status is Success
Looking at Configuration archive results, I see this:
Fetch Running: Success
Fetch Startup: Success
Fetch VLAN: Unsupported operation
Fetch Modules: N/A
Archive: Success
It's a Cisco 7200 router.
Looking at its Configuration archive, I can see just the running config. Startup config is missing.
2. Configuration archive job status is Completed and Last run status is Partial-Success
Looking at Configuration archive results, I see this:
Fetch Running: Success
Fetch Startup: Success
Fetch VLAN: Unsupported operation
Fetch Modules: N/A
Archive: Error in archiving for device '3663756'
It's a Cisco 6500 FWSM.
Looking at its Configuration archive, I can't see anything, it says 'No data available'. Both running and startup configs are missing.
Do you have some ideas what is wrong here, why can't I see the configurations?
I've found the reason why this is happening. In the case when startup and running configs are identical (disregarding lines like 'last configuration change', 'ntp clock-period',...), Prime doesn't show startup config under Configuration Archive, it
just shows the running config.

Cisco PI 2.0 Configuration Archive fails Nexus 5000
Hi,
we recently upgraded Cisco PI from 1.3 to 2.0 and i thought this problem would be solved but it did not. I have added two Nexus 5548 switches that i can monitor and configure through Cisco Prime but im not able to read the running och startup config to the Configuration Archive. When i run the job i get the following error:
"fig from device: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out"
Current NXOS: 5.2(1)N1(2a)
Before i proceed troubleshooting i just would like an answer if it should be possible to archive configs from Nexus to Cisco Prime Infrastructure?
Cheers! // Mattias AnderssonThanks for the quick reply! Well, i did some more troubleshooting and i noticed that through Ethanalyzer and inspected the telnet packets that Prime tries to set the terminal lenght and width before it shows the running-config but it fails as it is in the default role of priv-0, and therefore gets % Permission denied. So, it times out after 2,5 min.
I added these two lines and worked like a charm!
role name priv-0
rule 12 permit command terminal length *
rule 11 permit command terminal width * -

Cisco Prime Infrastructure Scheduled Configuration Archive not executing
We have a deployment of Cisco Prime Infrastrcuture 1.3 (1.3.0.20).
Configuration Archive is a feature that collects and archives the device configurations i.e. cisco switches.
You have an option to schedule this to run, say daily, weekly etc. Once scheduled you can see it in the "Jobs Dashboard" and with the "next start time" of what you configured. I have a situation whereby the time it is suppose to start - it doesnt - howevere flags the job as a "success". Not newe device configurations are archived and the "next start time" remain the same. Its almost like it is failing to execute, but some other process under the hood thinks that it was been executed correctly?
Any ideas or experience that could help here would be appreciated! Some extra info that has just come to my attention. At one point we were running (we're actually still running) CiscoWorks with LMS3.2 and Cisco NCS 1.x. I merged these two things together into Cisco Prime Infrastructure (upgraded the licensing to get 450 lifecycle licenses to cover the APs + all of the devices coming from LMS3.2). I followed all of the documented procedures to upgrade the NCS appliance to Prime Infrastructure. But when I type "show application" from the CLI of the NCS appliance (now the Prime Infrastructure appliance) I see this:
HQ-NCS1/admin# show application
NCS Cisco Prime Network Control System
Is that normal? Maybe this is my problem. Should this output list "Cisco Prime Infrastructure" instead of (or in addtion to) Cisco Prime Network Control System? When I login to the GUI it shows "Cisco Prime Infrastructure" and the GUI has changed considerably (menus are different) so I'm assuming that the application upgrades I launched from the CLI to go to Prime Infrastructure worked fine. -
WLSE Configuration archive download SNMP timeout
HI, I´m new to WLSE. My AP´s are already discovered and managed, but when I try to download the configuration archive from them, the Job Always fail with a SNMP timeout error message. This problem occur in the upgrade firmware job too.
Whe I go to reports, device center, I can see the AP configuration, but in the configuration>archives>view archive I have nothing.
I appreciate your helpYou can configure the timeout value by selecting Firmware > Advanced Parameters. From this option you can change the "Per device job operation timeout value" to a higher value

Configuration archive after configuration change
Hello,
I'm assuming this can work with switches, routers, and controllers. I'm running PI 2.1 and am trying to get the configuration archive functionality working. I have both of these options checked under System Settings > Configuration Archive:
:: Archive configuration out-of-box
:: Archive configuration on receiving configuration change events
On the IOS device, these settings were configured for syslog/snmp:
logging buffered 100000
no logging event link-status
logging trap notifications
logging facility local6
logging source-interface Loopback0
logging <Prime IP>
snmp-server community ***** RW 13
snmp-server enable traps config
snmp-server enable traps syslog
snmp-server host <Prime IP> version 2c *****
I do not see any syslog messages in PI under alarms/alerts and the configuration never gets archived. I haven't run tcpdump yet to determine if PI is receiving these traps but I was hoping it was something simple I was overlooking. Thanks for any assistance that can be provided.Thank you for the reply. To answer your question, yes. Community information matches with PI credentials.
I actually did get it to work yesterday. I did original testing on a 1921 router which is still not working, but when I tried configuring the same information on some switches (3750's) it worked. I thought routers would be configured the same - are there hardware limitations to this?
I look in the built-in CLI template 'Configure Logging' in PI and it only has switches and WLCs as available devices to push out to but I don't know what to make of it. -
Export Wired Device Configuration Archive in Prime 2.1

Configure archiver to read from both redo log members
Hi, We have moved our Data Warehouse to a new SAN. The luns for the redo logs are getting hit heavily. Just trying to find out if on AIX it is possible to configure archiver so that it reads from both members, current iostat data shows reads of the redo logs are only happening against the first member of each group and none against the second member. Cisco Prime Configuration Archive on Interface Flap
Hey All,
We've been using Cisco Prime 2.1 for a bit now and I have a question about the configuration archive based on change events. Will Cisco Prime go and attempt to perform a config backup based on an interface flap? Looking at the audit logs it appears that it does that (see attachment). Is this a default behavior and does anyone see any benefit to this? It seems like if an interface is flapping it will continuously log into the device to see if the configuration has changed.
BrianHi Brian,
I don't think configuration achieve can be triggered due to interface flap ,however if there is any change in the configuration yes PI can do the config Archive
Go to Administration > System Settings > Configuration Archive
Archive Configuration on receiving configuration change events? Check box this option
Thanks-

Log-Configuration.xml Problems
Hi, I have been trying to use log-configuration.xml but it seems like i cannot get it to work at all.
From what i understand, once i deploy my application, i should be able to edit the config via the Visual Administrator. However, after i deploy my app, i am still unable to see it with visual administrator. furthermore, i cannot find the file anywhere on the sever. Also, my settings are not reflected in the behaviour of the defaultTrace.
Am i suppose to be able to find the "log-configuration.xml" file in the server if i have done the correct steps? If so, what are the likely mistakes i have made? I am at my wits end, anyone can help me?
Just to add, this post seems to describe exactly my situation except i have no idea how to "manually" correct it... log-configuration.xml outside META-INF due to NWDS
TIA!

Message was edited by: ah bengHi Rajeshkr,
Sorry, i am kinda new to web dynpro and sap in general so i may need you to be more explicit
I am not quite sure what this part means or how to check "...has been deployed successfully in the deploy node of the visual Node and check for the Log Configuratior Node and check for your deployed application...."
What i did do is go to the server to and search the entire directory structure for the log-configuration.xml but could not find it. Also, the config cannot be seen via the log-configurator in visual administration engine which its supposed too i think. and lastly the behavoiur i set in the log-configuration.xml is not reflected in the defaultTrace
Then i saw this post so i went to check the EAR file in my workspace and found that it was just like Manik described.
Maybe u could check this link where i posted more about my problem Log-Configuration.xml Problems
I would love to award points if it helps -
CPI1.3: WLC Configuration Archive - Failure
Good day, everybody!
I try to make Configuration Archive for Wireless Lan Controller. WLC managed without any mistaces, SNMP v3 and SSH v2 have already configured.
But, when I start Configuration Archive task and check Status in Jobs Dashboard - I always have Failure, like this:
Does anybody know why I can't normally save configuration? Thanks for advices! In the Jobs Dashboard I choose Configuration Archive Results - Failure and see Fetch Running information:
SNMP: Failed to establish SNMP connection to 10.0.10.101 - Cause: Device is Unreachable. Check the ReadOnly community string. SNMP: Failed to establish SNMP connection to 10.0.10.101 - Cause: Device is Unreachable. Check the ReadOnly community string.
But I don't understand, why Check the ReadOnly community string? I use SNMP v3!
For example, I've successfully got Configuration Archive from c3560G by using same SNMP v3 and SSH parametres.
Does anybody have ideas? -
Sender Adapter archiving problem
Hello All,
In the sender adapter channel, we are getting the following error message. The messages are not getting archived in the archive folder that we have mentioned in the Sender adapter configuration in the ID.
Putting message into send queue failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.DuplicateMessageException: Message Id 36f5f1e6-97a8-41b0-1fb8-b9c2bdbb6008(OUTBOUND) already exists in duplicate check table: com.sap.sql.DuplicateKeyException: ORA-00001: unique constraint (SAPPIXDB.SYS_C00159667) violated .

Could you please let me know the exact problem? And how to resolve this? Thanks.Hi there,
This error is issued if a user tries to insert an already existing value into a column defined unique.
This error will also be generated if an existing record is updated to generate a duplicate (unique) key. Typically this is a duplicate primary key, but it need not be the primary key.
Remedy:
Only one of the following will be appropriate:
1. Remove the unique restriction.
2. Change the restriction to allow duplicate keys. An index could be changed to be a non-unique index, but remember that the primary key must always be unique.
3. Do not insert the duplicate key.

Where is a part of configuration archive file of network devices
Hi everyone,
Today I'm already install Cisco Prime 2.1 for my customer but I'm having trouble about backup configuration file. Originally my customer use LMS to backup router/switch configuration and they can copy configuration file from local disk to backup storage immediately in anytime that they want but now when they use Prime 2.1. They not know where is the part that program will save configuration file (.txt or .cfg) to local disk. Prime 2.1 is the appliance box and we can login root to see the linux part.
I don't know that exactly the Cisco Prime will save backup configuration to database file (such as sql file) of text file (.txt or .cfg) and if it save as text. i would like to know where is the part of backup configuration file that I can access to copy it via ftp.
Thank you for advice,Hi ,
Right now this feature is not available in PI , enhancement has already been filed to address this issue:
transferring device config archive from PI to other server is not supported and currently
there's no way to achieve this.
Previously, the following enhancement bug was previously raised but I'm not sure whether
this feature will be announced from the further PI version or not.
CSCud84458 Need separate folder for config archives to be stored on NCS/PI
Symptom: Device Configuration can not be retrieved from NCS/Prime Infrastructure using CLI
or an LMS 'shadow' directory equivalent
Conditions: PI 1.x and 2.0 are affected by this limitation.
Workaround: None
Further Problem Description: Unlike precursor products, such as LMS, device configurations
are not natively stored in the filesystem and are rather stored in the inbuilt Oracle DB
as BLOB objects.
Thanks-
Afroz
