Picture looks more fuzzy and compressed ONLY at start of movie

I am using IDVD 6.02 on my MacBook Pro 17" Intel Duo. I am also running OSX 10.4.7.
I have made an Imovie project that begins with some imported titles (white text on a black screen) and then leads into the movie. When I make this full movie onto DVD, these opening titles are perfectly clear, but as the actual image part of the movie begins, the picture looks fuzzier/ more compressed than normal, but after about 10-15 seconds it seems to clear/ correct itself so the picture looks as it should. I have tried actually deleting that bit of footage and remaking the movie, but it still makes whatever the first part of the movie is, fuzzier. This fuzziness is not so bad, but there is a definite difference after the picture clears itself. The odd thing is that its only just started doing this. I have gone back through DVD's I made only a week or so ago and they are fine.
Does anyone know what this could be? Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I am also having problems with burning a DVD. 18mins into the movie it "Shakes and id fuzzy" but clears up after 4 minutes and the rest is fine. Tried a couple of makes of disc but no change.

If you don't have a background in programming you're going to
be in for a steep learning curve. The actual interface the user
would see could be done in Flash, so perhaps that forum is a better
place to start. Your Flash application that you come up with is
going to have to integrate some sort of database I would assume, so
you'll need to look into that as well.

The colors appear more vibrant and redder ONLY on Photoshop

Hello! For a long while I've had a problem with my Photoshop CS5.
I had bought Photoshop CS5 and using it on two computers, the older one I usually use more often, it works about perfectly. But on my working laptop my Photoshop shows the colors
differently:
As you can see, how the colors should look like is on the right, how Photoshop twists the colors on the left.
However, once I save the picture, the colors looks like they should (on the right) but not seeing them correctly when editing and manipulating the picture, causes a lot of problems for me and I have no idea how to fix it. It's RBG (At the moment for the web, but when actually working, then with CMYK).
I've tried many different color settings and God knows what and nothing seems to work.

here, the bottom image has a moderate saturation boost
but you don't include the Doc Profile in the middle image
(and i don't know what app that is, if it is color-managed, if it actually CONVERTING to the Monitor Profile)
and you are using the sRGB targets (not the WhackedRGB target)
moreover, your uploaded image (yOznPEp.png) doesn't contain an embedded profile, so it's anyone's guess what you are seeing
but i captured the original sRGB target above yours
i guess your middle image is unmanaged or not fully managed because my 10/10/10 black wedge is darker in your "correct" middle version
if Photoshop is not displaying proper saturation with the settings I recommended, then your monitor profile is off
there is a ton of search hits on how to calibrate and setup a window's monitor for photoshop
at this point i don't know what else to add except to start slugging it out...

I did the update to ios7 on my iphone, my pictures now look like negatives, I've lost the calculator and many more apps that were original on my phone when I purchased it new and apps that I purchased as well. How do you turn off the running programs. When you hold the home key it doesn't show the running apps like it used to.

the function to hold the home button NEVER was a way to close apps. That calls up siri.
You double tap the home button and then swipe up on the apps to quit them.

if you are missing apps that are supposed to come with it, they may be on another screen. Swipe from right to left in the middle of your home screen to see if you have mutliple screens setup somehow.
If not, you may need to restore your device through iTunes to get them back
And as for the colors thing, it sounds like the colers may be inverted in the settings.
check in settings>general>accessibility and see if inverted colors is on,or off.

Create Blu-Ray: Encodes and burns only small section of movie

I have a late 2013 Mac Pro and I am trying to use compressor 4 to burn a Blu-Ray disc. My source is an Apple ProRes422 encoded Quicktime file (about 1h of video). After about 1 h of submitting the job, compressor displays the status as successful. When I test the disc, the beginning of the movie has indeed burned successfully but the disc contains only a short stretch of the movie. I check the encoded files and they are small (ca 300-500MB) which is telling me that only the beginning of the movie was encoded. How can I burn the whole movie onto a Blu-Ray successfully? What I am doing wrong?
Furthermore, I have several movies that I would like to burn onto one Blu-Ray. How can I do that with compressor other than putting them all into one project in final cut pro and exporting the project to compressor?
By the way all 8 movies burned successfully onto one Blu-Ray with Toast 11 using the same hardware. However, I would like to be able to achieve the same or better result with compressor 4.

You are probably not doing anything wrong. The FCP X and Compressor discussion boards have multiple threads from users who are either getting no output from Blu Ray encoding projects - or they get strange results, like very low bit rates, regardless of the settings. Long projects seem more likely to be affected. If you haven't tried it already, see whether you can make a disk image, which Toast should handel without re-encoding.
Not everyone has experienced these difficulties, but AFAIK, no one – on either forum – has come up with an explanation of why.
One of the workarounds has been one that you're already using – Toast. Others have subscribed to Adobe CC Premiere to her the Encore download. One suggestion – apparently originating from an Apple support person – was to use a high bit rate MPEG2 setting.
There have been several posts (from users) that Apple engineers are aware of the issue. I can't confirm that one way or the other.
If you want to put multiple movies on a disk using Compressor or FCP X(assuming the larger issue is somehow overcome) you would need to bring the finished movies into an editing program (including quicktime Pro) as clips, assemble them on a timeline (or track), insert a gap clip and chapter markers and titles for navigation. That's because the process only allows for one track.
The only other suggestion I can make is that if you have a system back up, then you can probably restore the previous versions of FCP X and/or Compressor. and use them for Blu Ray.

Moved house and TM only goes back to move date

We moved out temporarily to restore our home in Nov 09- I have had TM working backing up my Mac Pro to an external drive for a year or so. The MP wasn't used for a while work was going on. I was actually working from another machine, a Book. I disconnected the Drive to access work from my Book. I've now brought the MB to the temp home and will use it there, but now I've connected the drive back to it and ran TM, if I enter, it only goes back to the date I switched off and moved the drive! Does this mean I've lost all previous evidence of back up?

NO. First, that means you only have one copy. When your backup drive fails (and they all do, sooner or later), you risk losing it. Plus, Time Machine will, eventually, delete it's copy of anything that's no longer on your system.

Exactly. The essential part of a good backup strategy is to have (at least) two copies of everything important, in (at least) two places. Three is much better, especially if one is off-site (safe deposit box, workplace, relative's house, etc.). That way, you're also protected against fire, flood, theft, direct lightning strike on your power lines, etc.

Installed 10.4.8 and now only white start-up screen

I used the software updater and installed the new 10.4.8 update and when it restarted, the computer is stuck on the white screen. Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get into the computer?

the first time after installing, the start up takes 3 minutes or more and then it restarts suddenly by it self....on purpose..

Ok....many of us also had blank screen problems with 10.4.7 and here is how we got rid of it:
push the start up button and immediatly after press down all these four keys:
option (alt) + command (apple key) + p + r
Then you should start up fine... BUT to avoud having to do this all the time you have to do a manual fix:
In system preferences, togle the screen settings away from the standard setting to some other setting, and then back again.
Voila.. so far it seems to work. The explanation is, that some default setting for the screen somehow got lost.
But the above fixes...fixes that
IF... next time you still get a blank screen. Turn it off by holding down the start button for 5 sec. Try Start up from the original apple dvd (insert the dvd and hold down the "c" key under start up). When the loading is over - DONT START the software install but under tools choose start-up disk, and choose the hard disk system folder. Then simply choose restart.
If you still have trouble.. you need to make a new software installation of Mac OSX.. you can choose the archive and install to save all your personal settings and files from your present home.

Installed more RAM and the MacPro wont start

When i installed the new 1GB the computer wont come on - the light that usually tells you that the computer is asleep just keeps flushing...Has anyone heard of this? Am i supposed to take off the sticker (which indicates that the memory is no longer covered by apple care or something...) before i insert the memory?

Try these steps in order:
Reseat the RAM

If still unable to turn on the computer, remove the new RAM and reinstall the old RAM, reset the PRAM and test.

Got Mac Mini with Mountain Lion ; the GOALS for this computer:
Writing for publication, filling out forms, sending data, photo editing and adjustments, artwork, tasks, email, online consulting, volunteer advocacy, research, etc.
Was beginning to get the hang of things, with some difficulties;but was not finding what I needed.
Unknowingly took bad advice: updated to Mavericks.
Everything FUBAR'd.
Straightened some things out; at least can access email, get online, do a few things--still can't do meaningful work on it.
Mini = very expensive Entertainment Box; NOT my priority.
I Thought: download programs that can do work.
Got Pages 5.1. It fails to work right:
Margins refuse to adjust.
Pictures pasted into Pages document, very hard to adjust on page or get type to wrap around picture, adjust sizing, etc.--time wasting, unable to adjust as wanted on pages--settled for what it would do at all.
Page Setup is hardly relevant to actually setting up a Page.
Won't attach to Email.
Won't allow reading it anywhere but on the computer it was made.
Won't allow saving Pages nor Text documents using ANY other extensions.
Saving is a contorted mouse-hunt; there's no "save-as".
For one typed page, a box told me there was HTML in the thing, and that it couldn't deal with it, even though there wasn't.
Pages document Won't save properly to a Pendrive for transport: it reads OK on the MAc, but on the PC, only 1st page visible, the rest unitelligible, pixelated, when moved to a PC.
I thought to transport the Pages document to the PC to copy/paste it into a Owrd Document--THAT failed, too.
Trying to print this Pages document turned into a nightmare: 1st page almost printed, ensuing pages resembled NOTHING I'd saved; a 10-page Pages document turned into many more pages of garbled mess.
I haven't had time to try other features; just making a pretty basic Pages document has been a wicked time-waster.
There doesn't seem to be ANY work-around.
I Thought: copy/paste the content of the Pages document, into a Text document: THAT FAILED.
Copy/Pasting one page at a time for this maneuver, also failed:
Pictures [.jpg] turn fuzzy and HUGE, and refuse adjustment in any way I can find.
Pictures refuse to adjust Easily, whether Pages or Text--couldn't make pictures in Text adjust at all.
Very UNimpressed with the picture editing on this Mac, to date.
Having terrible time doing ANYthing to adjust .jpg's in any document--forget putting photos in emails.
"Help" has been fairly useless; tutorials instruct to do things the programs won't do, or has no suggestion.
Pages is Useless, if it only allows making a basic document that's ONLY visible or minimally usable on the unit it got made on.
Feartures hark back to antique MS Word, like having to go up to Edit in order to copy/paste [as in this message], instead of being able to use Mouse to copy/paste directly in document, for instance.
This computer refuses to allow printing via ethernet or hardwire; Mini sees there's a printer, but can't print, thinks it's not on, or some unknown blockage.
Uninstalled printer, tried to reinstall, Mini refuses to allow reinstall; can't auto-find printer, refuses manual entry of information.
This Mac nearly choked/crashed after updated to Mavericks, in many ways.
MAYBE all this is really yet more Mavericks issues? ?
I paid dearly to get a computer that SHOULD have been Stably ready to roll; instead, it's caused about 3+ months worth of time-wasting.
This fails as a reliable, stable WORK unit.
Getting vetted, stable software should be easy, but it isn't.
ALL the problems APPEAR to be software issues.
This isn't just a Learning Curve, this is diabolical Sudoku gone horribly wrong!
Microsoft historically, repeatedly, rushed unstable, incomaptible software to users before de-bugging/de-glitching, or issues incomplete licenses to ancillary programs making htem disfunctional: it's what I've hated MOST about PC's.
IMHO, the contract that conjoined Mac with Microsoft seems to have caused Macs to take on the worst of PC habits.
This MacMess is turning my brain to mush! Where do I send a BILL to Apple for premature onset of Dementia / Stressed-Brain injuries + Time Lost, related to bad computer software?!
At this rate, I'll never finish a book for publication anywhere, and must fall back on hand-writing forms and reports.

Using "conjoined" was perhaps, not exactly the correct term. But that contract changed how Macs operated; dependability has, IMHO [and others], declined, while PC's have gained some bits of dependability.
Macs subsequently started using other processors, instead of Apple hardware--[not knowing how that might change things].
There's been more of Apple rushing software to users prematurely; always a badly played Microsoft trick, for instance.
It has some hints that MS and Apple are becoming more homogenous; that would be sad. It will take longer than this, to accomplish; but this kind of contracts between industry giants, often portend that sort of merge at later date, done in a step-wise manner. These kinds of things can take years longer than this; meanwhile, users deal with bad products.

Thanks. So there's no means of knowing whether a text message has been delivered, not to mention time of delivery. Perhaps I've gone for the wrong phone. It might do a lot but seems to miss out on some basics.

You should be importing all pics taken with your iphone to your computer as you would with any digital camera. Have you failed to do this?

I have a problem with my 4s camera which has come up recently. Everytime I take a picture and look it up via the 'Photos' app, it shows as blank. But when I click on edit on the blank picture, it comes up and I am able to save it back on my photo album.

There are a few things that are confusing in your question.
As far as I know, you dont have to install Time Machine on this OS as it is already installed for you. You only need to connect a hard drive to your computer via firewire or usb, click on the Time Machine icon, Open Time Machine Preference in the drop down menu and select a disk: your connected hard drive.
You can of course reformat this connected device, partition it into a few volumes to organise data if you so wish.
I find it strange that your mac's hard drive is divided into two volumes... perhaps this was created through bootcamp?
You can access the configuration of your hd through Applications/Utilities/Disk Utilities.
Clicking on one of the icons on the right hand panel will bring the details of the contents of your hardDrive and volumes. From there you can decide to erase a partition, reformat etc....
If your hd contains more than one volume, and one of them is empty, you could decide to remove it. Back up all your important data before doing so.
