Ping issues on 80Mb Inifinity

Hello!
So I'm getting an unsual ping issue. It's repeatable on all of my computers whether wireless or through ethernet/powerline, and I can only describe it as hangs in the traffic, where the entire connection will lock up for 500ms-2000ms and cause extreme issues while gaming. I'm attaching a ping test though which I have been using to monitor the issue, and that's done through a simple "ping www.google.co.uk -t" command in cmd.
My pings are fantastic for a BT connection, except when this is happening. This is better than any ping I got with Virgin. I just wish I could get this resolved. I think because I'm using fibre that I am missing all of the ADSL information that's been posted around here. My router home page shows no power levels etc.

I would just like to add to this, I am suffering exactly the same problems.
Homehub5, tried wired pc, wireless laptop, and doen ping tests on 2 tablets
UK Server    Minimum = 19ms, Maximum = 3166ms, Average = 132ms
BBC.co.uk    Minimum = 19ms, Maximum = 3148ms, Average = 78ms
ping.sunet.se    Minimum = 57ms, Maximum = 3477ms, Average = 179ms
google.co.uk    Minimum = 18ms, Maximum = 3249ms, Average = 109ms
it's all the time, not just at a specific time either.
This problem affects any online gaming to the point the games are completely unplayable.
Speaking with support yesterday, they informed me that the game servers website cache information was wrong and "we have fixed that now because we are able to"
I'm a community moderator for EA Battlelog, and I know for a fact BT do not have access to the EA backend.

  • Intermittent high ping issues

I've been having occasional high ping issues for quite a while now. They come and go at irregular times, and I'm not sure how to resolve this. Other computers on the network are showing similar latency.

#1 Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) will contain a hop with your IP address in it. Remove that line. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.

  • Ping issue

I recently added a new server to my network, 2008 r2 box and it acts as my storage server. It has a storage array connected to it via iSCSI and there is a GP to automatically map it to all the workstations. This works great, however no matter what domain
site I am on I cannot ping it. I have no issues at any of my 3 sites getting the mapped drives to connect and work properly but I cannot rdp into it or ping it using the IP address or the servers name. It is in the DNS server with the correct IP address and
everything it seems. All the other servers and computers at the site this storage server is at can be pinged no problems. So I'm guessing it's not the DNS server at that particular site. I have ipv6 turned off on the nic and primary dns server is the dns server
located at that site and the secondary dns server is setup to point to the main dns server at our main office.
Here is what I get when I try to ping it.

  • ITunes Ping Issues

I am having issues with Ping like everyone else. My issues are:
My activity such as Like & Post only randomly show up, I have liked and posted about a ton of album, yet hardly any of them show up in my activity. For example I have liked and posted on maybe 20 albums today but my activity that shows up on my profile stops at yesterday and only a small % of yesterdays activity is actually on my profile
When I try to reply to something a follower has posted about one of the albums I have liked, it will not let me click on the "Post" button. The text box opens and lets me type a response but clicking on the "Post" button does nothing.

So far I have figured out it directly related to pre purchases, at least that is in my case anyway. I had pre-ordered Salt but when i went to download I received error 5002 and it said to try later. I tried for two days. I ran disk utilities and repaired permissions that did nothing, then I ran Disk Warrior, it showed the directory was all messed up. Still nothing, so I tried to just download Salt directly and sure enough it worked just fine and it is downloading now. As I said I believe it is related to the pre- purchase somehow. All of that is from an iTunes dedicated mac mini, nothing else is on that computer, no email at all.

  • DNS / Ping Issues

    Hi,
Have upgraded a Mac to SL and since then we cannot ping the IP address of the server nor ping by name. This is also causing issues with PPTP as well. The user can get in but not access email etc. Any ideas appreciated as I have been everywhere to try and resolve this ?
    Thanks,

It's actually very common that "everything worked ok" before it broke.
Verify that you have link between the network switch and your mac. Check to see what address has been assigned. Open a terminal window and type "ifconfig" and see if it shows that your en0 (if it's your primary ethernet interface, else whatever is appropriate) is up and connected appropriately.

  • Aironet 1100 Ping issues poor connectivity LAN

I have setup an Aironet 1100 on our old office, and we never had any connectivity issues.
A month ago we moved to a new location, some new equipment and i moved the Aironet to the new office.
The problem i am experiencing right now is packets drops. The AP is connected straight to out Poe switch. If i telnet into the switch and do an extended ping command, i can see a lot of packets dropping. I've check the interface duplex - speed and everything looks just fine. I have not change any settings on the AP since i moved it to the new location.
    What else can i troubleshoot?
    Thanks
    Zeek

    1) Did you try rebooting the AP?
    2) Which switch model is it?
    3) How is the switch port connecting the AP configured, trunk or access? If trunk how many VLANs are allowed?
    4) Check the CPU/Memory on the AP, how much is it?
    5) How many clients are connected at once?

  • Remote access VPN on ASA5520 Ping Issues.

Hi I hope someone might be able to help me. I have setup a remote access VPN on an ASA 5520. The VPN client connects ok, accepts my username and password and then I am in. I get an allocated IP address of 172.16.1.1 from the local pool. The problem is that I cannot then ping the inside LAN which is 192.168.1.1. I've got isakmp nat traversal set to default which is 20. Hi Richard ,
    - we don't need access-list with RA connection , we have the dynamic map that acts as a template , so your crypto config :
crypto map mymap 1 ipsec-isakmp dynamic dmap
crypto map mymap 2 match address NONAT
crypto map mymap 2 set security-association lifetime seconds 28800
crypto map mymap 2 set security-association lifetime kilobytes 4608000
    crypto map mymap interface outside
map with seq 1 is being binded to the dynamic map , now map 2 you are using the nonat access list as the encryption trigger for this map , so this should not be there as it encrypt traffic from the inside subnet to the pool .
please remove the second entry, then test if not working please provide a capture from the inside interface .
    HTH
    Mohammad.

  • Ping Issues

    Hi,
I have a significant problem with the ping/latency of my broadband connection.  Whenever my connection is being used by more than one person (even just loading a webpage, not necessarily streaming/gaming) the ping skyrockets, sometimes to 1-2 seconds. Obviously this is a problem, since I pay a significant amount of money to have a stable and usable connection.
I can also tell if the neighbours are playing games/streaming, as the quality of my connection decreases dramatically.
Any help or advice would be useful.

I'm currently on wireless, but the problem also seems to manifest when connected directly to the hub by ethernet cable.
According to the btspeedtester, I have 1.95 mbps download and 0.36 upload with a ping of 66ms currently.
Just testing an additional active connection, at the moment I'm getting (numbers are DL/UL/Ping):
    109 0.31 308
    129 0.28 257
    133 0.30 261
Although, as I said, it is not uncommon to get ping > 900ms.

  • Ping Issue / Need Clarification on subnets

I am not able to ping between PC 1 and PC 0 / PC 2 where in I can ping between PC 1 and PC 3.
As per my understanding PC 1 has Ip address of 192.168.3.7/16 which is in the range of 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 which includes other IP as well they why am not able to reach them which are in /24 subnet. Please clarify my doubt.

A device will typically use ARP to find the MAC address of devices within its own subnet and will use its default gateway to get to devices outside of its subnet. For PC 0 and PC 2 they consider devices in 192.168.3 to be outside of their subnet.
So what is happening is that the ping packet from PC 1 does get to PC 0 and PC 2 but they do not have a mac address for PC 1 and therefore can not send a response to the ping.

  • L2VPN - Ping Issue

    Hi,
I have a MPLS setup as below and am trying to establish a L2VPN.
    PE1-P-P-PE2
    (IS-IS is the IGP)
As far as I understand the loopbacks (of the PE's) should be reachable thru the IGP for the L2VPN to work.
I have noticed a strange behavior. From PE1 I cannot ping the loopback of PE2. Although from PE2 I can ping PE1's loopback. I can see the Loopbacks in the routing table thru the IGP in both PE1 and PE2.
Now if I run an extended ping with record option the ping is successful.
Any one here has come across this sort of a problem.
    Thanks
    Imran.

    Imran,
Try pinging from PE2 to P1 interface that connects to PE1. This will probably work. Then try pinging from PE2 PE1s interface that connects to P1 this will probably not work. Do the same ping that doesnt work and go onto PE1 and do debug ip packet (be careful - I hope this isnt a production network). When you do this debug look for the good old "encapsulation failed" messages. If you see these upgrade your code and you will be fine. I believe 28S is available and 30S is out soon.

  • Pinging Issues through 5520

    Hi Everyone,
Im building a Cisco 5520 with a two physical interfaces and 6 or so sub-interfaces. We have G0/0 (broken down into the sub-interfaces) and G0/1 (not sub-interfaced). I have the ACL's in place and I can ping through the devices from one sub-interface to the physical (outside) interface, but only when the physical is set to security level 90 - when it is at 100 (as the source interface is), it doesnt get through.
    This is my config:
    ACL's
access-list Outside-OUT extended permit icmp any any log
access-list NMS-IN extended permit ip any any log
access-list Outside-IN extended permit ip any any log
access-list NMS-OUT extended permit ip any any log
    access-group NMS-IN in interface NMS
    access-group NMS-OUT out interface NMS
    access-group Outside-IN in interface Outside
    access-group Outside-OUT out interface Outside
    Interfaces
    interface GigabitEthernet0/0.224
    description NMS
    vlan 224
    nameif NMS
    security-level 100
    ip address 10.11.120.226 255.255.255.240

    description Outside
    nameif Outside
    security-level 90
    ip address 10.11.121.1 255.255.255.240
Works like this - as soon as I set G0/1 to security level 100, it doesnt work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dan

However, shouldnt I be able to ping through with relevant ACL's. without the same-security command - as that just seems to bypass the ACL?
    These are my ACL's
    access-list Outside-OUT extended permit icmp host 10.11.120.227 host 10.11.121.3 echo-reply log

I get 0 hits on them when the same security command is in place, but it works - when I take the same security command off, I get no hits and it doesnt work????

I swapped out two Riverbed but still cannot ping the in-path ip address.
Anything else that needs to be done to allow this?
Any advise or hints will be most appreciated.

  • IPSec VPN & wierd ping issue

    Hi,
I have a RVS4000 at one location and a second RVS4000 at home.  I have established an IPSec VPN tunnel between them and it is UP.  I can ping the routers from each end no problem.  I can ping  the IPs listed in the "Local Group Setup" and the "Remote Group Setup" from both ends no problem.  I can even open up a shared resource from a Win 7 machine (e.g. by typing \\10.10.10.100\ in start-run from a computer on my home network).
But - i can't ping anything else on one network from the other.  What gives?  I need to access a 10.10.10.101 machine but can't even ping it.
    - both RVS4000 boxes have latest firmware (V1.3.3.5)
    - home RVS4000 setup with IP 10.10.11.1
    - home network has a server with IP 10.10.11.20
    - other location RVS4000 setup with IP 10.10.10.1
    - other location server setup with IP 10.10.10.100
Tunnel settings on home RVS4000 (the other location properly mirror these).

    hi
    Just out of interest, what happens when you change the following;
Tunnel settings on home RVS4000 (the other location properly mirror these).
      - Local Security Gateway Type :  IP Only
      - Local Security Group Type : Subnet
      - IP Address : 10.10.11.20

  • Interface vlan - ACL - pinging issues.

I'm trying to understand why an ACL which is applied to an interface vlan is affecting the traffic for a different interface vlan.
Both vlans are configured on the same device and there's a trunk connecting the "access" switch to the "distribution" switch.
    so, what we have is:
    UD-1 UD-1B
    UA
Int vlan are configured in both UDs and the vlan is allowed in the trunk that connects the UD to the UA.
There's an ACL blocking traffic to the int vlan 225 ip that is configured in the UA, but there's no ACL on the vlan 185 (the same IP that Im trying to ping).
So , why is this happening?
    configs:
    UD-1A:
    interface Vlan185
    ip address 10.8.185.3 255.255.255.0
    interface Vlan225
    ip address 10.18.225.3 255.255.255.0
    ip access-group ud1 in
    int gi1/1
    interface GigabitEthernet1/1
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 225
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 185,225
    switchport mode trunk
    UD-1B
    interface Vlan185
    ip address 10.8.185.4 255.255.255.0
    interface Vlan225
    ip address 10.18.225.4 255.255.255.0
    ip access-group al_rpf_sre_ud1_pro in
    interface GigabitEthernet4/4
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 225
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 185,225
    switchport mode trunk
    interface Vlan185
    ip address 10.8.185.7 255.255.255.0
    ip access-group ro in
    interface GigabitEthernet1/1
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 225
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 185,225
    switchport mode trunk
    interface GigabitEthernet1/2
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 225
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 185,225
    switchport mode trunk
    so, when I ping 10.8.185.7
    I get:
GMT-3: ICMP: dst (10.8.185.7) administratively prohibited unreachable rcv from 10.8.185.4
    %SEC-6-IPACCESSLOGDP: list ud1 denied icmp 10.8.185.7 (GigabitEthernet1/1) -> 10.18.232.58 (0/0), 3 packets
    anybody?

    Hello Paresh,
    thanks for replying.
But, actually I dont think this is what happening.
Because 10.18.232.58 comes from an uplink - core router, which enters from a different interface.
Let me give you the configs:
    uplinks:
    interface GigabitEthernet3/1
    no switchport
    ip address 10.18.192.26 255.255.255.252
And the core are doing load-balancing to reach the UA.
So, icmp packets are arriving from these 2 interfaces, the uplink gi3/1 (router port) and from the link that connects the UA switch.
so, pinging from the BC you have 2 ways to get to the UA, from UD1 and UD1-B, when it reaches UD1-B it goes to the vlan (ie. goes down to the UA and up to UD1A).
Not sure if this is helping.
If you need any other info let me know.
    this is killing me.

  • FMS3 ping() issue

So, what does this mean to a developer of FMS apps? Well, you
need to know if users are actually there and if they are going to
stay there when nothing is going on. In FMS3, I've actually yet to
see the problem of the user getting disconnected when nothing is
going on in the app. This is a good thing :) Nice to see it fixed.
There are less instances of ghost users, but they are there,
    especially in busier applications.
What do you do? Do you use ping() to see if they are there?
My answer is to suggest "no". The reason is that ping() can return
true even when the client is no longer connected. The router or
something in the middle actually returns that the client is there
(I don't actually know exactly what is happening here, I do know
that ping() will return true even though the client isn't there).
Does anyone know how to be in this situation?

I've answered in the other thread.
    HTH,
    John
