Pixel dimensions not working

Hi folks,
Sorry for including a CEX file attachment, but an example speaks a
1000 words and the file is only 4Kb.
I am trying to dynamically create a PictureGraphic on a form and I want
to place and size it using pixel dimensions. This is because I need to
match this PictureGraphic against a background PictureGraphic which
lies in behind it.
I have tried using the XPixel, YPixel, HeightInPixels and WidthInPixels
attributes of the PictureGraphic (after setting it's "Parent" attribute
appropriately) but these do not seem to work (please see example).
Anyone know why these do not work? I know I could use 'mils' but to
match them to pixels involves calculating the number of mils per pixel
for the users screen resolution and there is the threat of rounding issues
there.
I am using 3.0.J.1.
Thanks in advance.

  • Pixel dimensions not rendering correctly with Extract Assets?

    Was really excited to hear about extract assets and have been trying to set up a new workflow but am having some difficulty. My PSD is set up ay 2x size, so I need to create 1x-sized assets. My 1x-sized assets are rendering with a 1px white line around them and I can't figure out why this is happening? I have tried both with the .5x button selected and also speccing the required pixel dims in the layer name, and both produce the same result.
    In my layer name I have: [email protected]%, 498x440 filename.jpg-85%
    The resulting asset is 500x442px and has a 1px white line around it
    What am I doing wrong?

  • Paste as Smart Object from Ai to Ps not working. Boundary box is there but art is missing.

    Paste as shape layer works and so does paste as outline but Smart Object and pixels paste not working. I have the latest versions of each program.

    Could you please post screenshots to illustrate the issue?
    Are you sure the copied Path has Fill or Stroke?

  • Is there any way to batch change resolution, but not pixel dimensions?

    I was changing the resolution of my digital photos from 180 to 300 ppi individually as I edited them, but sometimes I would forget. Since I need the higher resolution for printing, I decided to automate that step by using PSE's "Process Multiple Files" feature. I noted that the Resolution selection was grayed out until I checkmarked "Resize Images." Since I didn't want to change the number of pixels, I left those fields blank.
    When I started the automated processing I noticed it was terribly slow, so I cancelled it and looked at the resulting files. They had more than doubled in file size because PSE was nearly doubling the Pixel Dimensions! I don't want to try a work-around by "resizing" to the current pixel dimensions, because the processing still takes about 45 seconds per file, and if I've cropped the photos, the pixel dimensions vary. Is there an automated way to change only the resolution in PSE . . . quickly?
    Also, I really wanted to double the resolution from 180 ppi to 360 ppi, but PSE limits my choices to either 600 or 300 or less. I've read about Scripts, but I don't think PSE supports them. I have version 6.
    Thanks for some help.

    Thanks for your input, and you may be right, but I'm not sure. I'm still trying to figure this out. I know it's the same photo on my monitor, but I keep reading that print resolution (ppi) is different from pixel resolution (i.e. 2000x3000.) This is my situation-- I'm sending the photos to a publisher for printing in a book. The publisher did not specify a size in inches--in fact I think the photos will be different sizes when printed on the page. They told me to send the photos in at 1600x1200 pixels. I've heard that 300 ppi is the standard resolution for publishing, so to get decent quality printing of my photos I thought I should increase the resolution from 180 to 300. But thinking about the different sizes, it seems that the resolution (ppi) will change depending on the size the photo is actually printed. At 300 ppi, a 1600x1200 photo will be printed at size 5.333" X 4". If a photo is printed full bleed on the cover of the book that is 8" x 10.667", then it will be 150 ppi. So, I guess you are right that I don't need to worry about the ppi resolution for the book photos.
    Now, let me figure about what I need to print my own 4x6 photos. My digital camera was set to 16x9 jpg, so my workflow is to make PNG copies to work with and after editing, save them in the 16x9 format before cropping at 1600x1200 pixels, then sharpening before doing Save As jpg in Book folder. I was thinking I needed to change the resolution to 300 ppi when saving in the 16x9 format so if I want to later make 4x6 prints, I'll have good quality prints. But you have made me think a little harder--what I do is choose the 4x6 crop tool which takes care of whatever ppi resolution is needed for that size print. Oh good, you have saved me extra work. Thanks!
    (BTW, I choose the 16x9 format because I was planning to use the photos in a widescreen slideshow, but my husband wanted something he could hold in his hand--hence, the book . . . and a lot of cropping!)

  • How to reduce jpg file size, not pixel dimensions?

    I am preparing images for the web and I really have 2 questions: one about gifs, and one about jpgs.
    My standard procedure is to reduce the image to the desired pixel dimensions at 600 dpi
    That gives me a crisp small image. then I either use it as is if the file size is low enough (I try for under 600 kb) or convert it to a gif with the save for web and devices tool.
    So here are my 2 questions (I will count this solved with either answer)
    1) When I convert to a gif I have the 4 boxes: one with original size, the other 3 with options but often the options are too low res for me How do I change my 3 options to start at a higher gif res?
    2) If I try to reduce the file size of the jpg in the image size box I set the resolution lower ( 400, 300), which lowers the pixel dimensions and the filesize, but I don't want to cahnge the pixel dimensions. And  If I reset the pixel dimensions back to the size I want them, even though it is a lower resolution the file size doesn't change. How to reduce jpg file size using only the resolution, not pixel dimensions?  PS I have tried messing with checking and unchecking the 3 little boxes( scale styles, constrain proportions, and resample) but nothing has worked.

    Gif is not a great filetype, especially if you want a crisp image. What are your pixel dimensions?
    For web, it makes no difference what the dpi is, only the final pixel dimensions so once you have that as you want, use 'Save for Web and Devices' and you can lower the quality - 100% being max and 0% being lowest. I wouldn't save anything below 55%. For a 600kb image, your dimensions must be rather big.

  • Dimension resizing not working | time sensitive!

    Using LR 4.0, MacBookPro
    Hi All, I really need some help. I am trying to export a jpg to Dimensions OR Width x Height:  1224x2048.
    I cropped the image in a 4x6 aspect ratio, portrait orientation.
    The jpg is not exporting to these dimensions. It'll give me the width, but not the height. The height is topping out at 1836 pixels.
    I've exported without size constraints, and it'll give me dimensions 1941 × 2912 pixels, so the pixels exist to be used.
    **Do I need to crop to a different aspect ratio to get 1224x2048? **
    What am I doing wrong here? I've got a freaked out client, I'm on a tight deadline, and I feel like this worked last week when I tried it, but maybe it did not.
    I tried looking on the Adobe forums, no luck other than the usual instructions on cropping.
    Help?!
    Thank you so much!!

    In cases where you want to export a JPG to specific pixel dimensions (and therefore, to an imposed aspect ratio) you may not want to upset your current crop, and the aspect ratio which belongs to that.
    You can make a virtual copy, and re-crop that. Or you can make and then later recall  a snapshot, or use the History in order to return to your prior aspect; but this is maybe a little laborious.
    There is a workaround via the Print module (using that to export a JPG) which does not involve changing your crop at all.
    By starting from a print setup where a borderless printing mode is selected in the printer settings, you can fill the "page" displayed with your image, leaving no margins. Or you can have margins as a "frame" where the page background colour which shows here, is controllable - or you can use a graphic background (also a keyline around the image cell, adjustable for colour and width).
    The sizing of the page needs a little thought, since you cannot size this in pixels directly; Print happens in real-world-units. The real-world scale affects the output sharpening and the limits on line-width etc, while the PPI controls the pixel dimensions that will export from this page.
    I find it simplest to size this page not in the print setup, but in the Custom File Dimensions that you get in the Print Job panel, once you have changed this from "print to: Printer", to "print to: JPEG File".
    For example, one might size the page here in inches, presuming 100ppi for ease of calculation - so a 2048 x 1224 px might require a 20.48" x 12.24" page.  Or, 10.24"  x 6.12" at 200ppi would result in the same pixel dimensions output, though this would output sharpen etc differently. It takes just a little experiment, then saving the whole thing as a a print preset which you can recall in the future whenever this same requirement comes up again.
    The POINT of all this (finally - grin), is that your image is hosted on this Print page inside an image cell. And this cell does not have to be the same shape as your current crop, and in that case, "Zoom to Fill" self-crops the image on-the-fly, as an override. This second "print crop" starts out centred, but you can then drag this into the preferred composition as you want. Otherwise with Zoom to Fill unchecked, LR pads-out margins where the image does not fit the chosen shape; either way, your actual pixel output will still be the chosen width and height overall, in a standard "page" format, to contain a standard-size image cell.
    This image cell can auto-rotate the picture, and then some of your resulting JPGs will require further rotation outside LR in order to show the right way round on screen. Alternatively, whole separate portrait and landscape page setups can be made, and then selectively used according to the orientation of the various pictures - you can Filter the filmstrip by picture orientation quite easily, if you have previously saved the appropriate Filter presets.
    One incidental aspect of this: having selected sRGB (say), you get a choice of rendering intent.
    [edit: another unavoidable aspect of this method: the original picture filename does not get used in the filename of the new, "printed" JPG. The embedded metadata does seem to report this (for example, the Copyright metadata field was preceded in a test I made earlier, with the starting file name) - but naming has to be done specially. IIRC, multiple images "printed" in this way get the filename you define, plus a sequence number.]

  • Unable to embed External CSS file, dropdown list,filter panel and dimension filter are not working in SAP Design Studio Tool

    Hello Everyone,
    I am new to SAP Design Studio. I am working on creating dashboards and I am using Design Studio 1.2 version. Please suggest some solutions for the following issues. Thanks in Advance.
    1. External CSS file which is embeded using custom CSS option under "application component properties" is not working.
        * I kept the external CSS file inside repository-> my application folder.
    2. During runtime, getting javascript error while selecting '-' option from filter panel.
    3. Unable to select or type dimension name under "dimension filer component" properties.
    4. Getting runtime error for dropdown list, and I have inserted the following code under "onStartup" option of Application component properties.
    "DROPDOWN_1.setItems(DS_1.getMemberList("PRODUCTREF", MemberPresentation.INTERNAL_KEY, MemberDisplay.TEXT, 20));
    and dimension values are not populated in auto suggest."

    There should be an Error Log under View > Error Log that gives you more details of these errors.  Could you add that?  There is also a View > Script Problems log that provides more details as well.

  • Dimension security is not working if user have two roles in SSAS while connecting from Excel

    Hello Genius,
    I am facing the issue when user trying to connect the cube from excel if user have more than one role in ssas db.
    Role 1: Countryuser, I have implemented the dimension security with country
    dimension and  countrycode attribute.
    Role 2: CityUser,   I have implemented the dimension security with
    city dimension and  citycode attribute.
    If user is mapped to any one of above role dimension security is working perfectly according to the logic but mapped to both role, cube is exposing all the data in this case dimension security is not working.
    Please give me the solution to fix this issue or incase I am wrong kindly advice.
    Thanks
    Ganesh

    This is the expected behaviour as allowed sets in roles are unioned together.
    This is not a problem when your roles are restricting across a single attribute.
    eg.
    US_role = {[Geography].[Country].[USA]
    France_role = {[Geography].[Country].[France] }
    as someone in both roles ends up seeing {[Geography].[Country].[USA], [Geography].[Country].[France] }
    But when you have different attributes:
    NY_role = {[Geography].[City].[New York] }
    France_role = {[Geography].[Country].[France] }
    The first role is unrestricted on countries and the second is unrestriced on cities which is effectively:
    NY_role = {[Geography].[Country].AllMembers , [Geography].[City].[New York]  }
    France_role = {[Geography].[Country].[France], [Geography].[City].AllMembers }
    And when you union those two sets together you end up with:
    {[Geography].[Country].AllMembers , [Geography].[City].AllMembers }
    Which means that someone in both roles can see everything.
    So if you want to restrict someone to City = New York and Country = France you have to create a
    single role where both attributes are restricted. So if you have a lot of these combinations you will either have to create a lot of "combination" roles or look at dynamic security.
    The other thing that might work is make sure that you only give some users access to certain cities and others access to certain countries. It's the mixing of the two for a single person that causes the issues.

  • Changing ppi changes pixel dimensions but not document size?

    I have an image that is W=4.375 H=6.124 at 355 ppi the pixel dimensions area under Img > Image Size indicates it is W=1553 px H=2174
    When I change the resolution to 72 px it is only changing the pixel dimensions and not the document size. I'm confuesed.
    1. What is the difference between pixel dimensions and document size?
    2. Is the document the same physical size regardless if I make it 200 ppi, 150 ppi or 72?
    Thanks.

    Let me see if I understand all of this:
    - If I change the resolution the print dimension will stay the same, though what is it actually doing to the image if I increase the resolution, though it still is the same print dimension? I am guessing you can not just add pixels to a given size image and expect it to print better.
    - If I change the dimensions, the resolution will change because there will be either more pixels for a smaller area or fewer pixels for a larger area, depending on how I size it.
    Thanks.

  • Automatic hierarchie aggregation not working when dimension formula is used

    Hey folks,
    i'm facing the following issue. currently i'm setting up an application to plan sales quantities, prices and manufacturing costs.
    subsequently i want to calculate following values for members of account dimension:
    - turnover (price * sales)
          -> implemented as dimension formula
          -> in the account hierarchie it's a child of net revenue
          -> account type: inc
          => calculation work fine in the reports
    - manufacturing cost (manufacturing cost * sales)
          -> implemented as dimension formula
          -> in the account hierarchie it's a child of net revenue
          -> account type: exp
          => calculation work fine in the reports
    - net revenue (turnover - manufacturing cost)
          -> in the account hierarchie it's the parent of turnover, manufacturing cost
          -> account type: inc
          => key figure is empty !!
    As far as i understood BPC is aggregating automatically along the hierarchie. That means to me that net revenue should be automatically calculated due to the hierarchical relation in account dimension.
    Did anyone ever face same issue ? probably the hierachical aggregation is not working when key figures based on dimension formula is used !? Do i really have to implement script logic to solve this issue ?
    Looking forward to interesting approaches to solve this issue !
    Best regards,
    Moritz

    Hey,
    sorry my description was misleading at this point. i don't have a formula define for net revenue dimension member. i expected the system to automatically calculate it by aggregation along the account dimension hierarchy where net revenue is parent to the turnover and manufacturing costs which are calculated by dimension formula.
    Best regards,
    Moritz
