Pixel text over opacity fill

Hello,
I have text on top of an 85% opacity white fill.  When I save as an eps the text gets pixelated when placed in InDesign.  It doesn't happen all the time.  When the InDesign file gets exported as a pdf I can open the file in Illustrator and I've found that the pixel text is a group.  I have screen shots of what I'm experiencing:
Pixel text-
Pixel group-
I'd really like to find out what is causing this.  Beyond the text it is also affecting my vector lines.  I may have to stop using this technique and I'd rather that not happen.  Any solutions out there?  Has anyone else come across this?
I might get around this by saving the eps as a high resolution transparency eps, but I still want to know if there is something going on that I'm not aware of.
I've tried searching for pixelated text but have not found anything associated with Illustrator.  Please forgive me if this question is somewhere in the history.
Any help/suggestions at all is very appreciated.  Thank you.
Cheers,
Geokatze

Why EPS and not .ai or even pdf??? Is there some reason you're tied to the EPS format?
EPS is a flat file format. When you add transparency (or blending modes) in Illustrator then save as na EPS the file gets flattened to maintain appearance. An easy way around this is to stop using the EPS format. It's really becoming antiquated. Youc an save as a .ai or .pdf and place in Indesign and all the transparency and layers will be maintained.
You can also better prepare the file for an eps save by using the flattener preview.. Window > Flattener preview and the Flatten Transparency command in the Object menu. These will let you see what is getting flattened and how it's going to look when flattened allowing you to make adjustments within AI before saving as an eps.

  • Question about layering text over an image

    Hi -- I am trying to place a layer of text over a ghosted image that I've imported into ID from Photoshop.  By "ghosted" I mean that the image has a layer of white fill over it that has been set at 50% opacity.  ID won't let text be layered on top of the imported image, no matter how many different ways I've tried to accomplish this.  It will allow another image to be layered on top, but not text.  If I place a text frame over the ghosted image and type even one letter, the red text overset warning icon appears.
    I tried applying the text in Photoshop and that works just fine until the file gets imported into ID, at which point the text looks terrible, having become somehow degraded in transit.  I am fairly new to ID and PS, and would appreciate any helpful input.
    Thanks!
    ~Artemis

    Sounds like text wrap is applied to either the image or the frame above it, or both. Eihter turn it off if you don't need it for other reasons, or for the frame you want to use on top of it open the Text Frame Options and check the Ignore Text Wrap box in the lower left corner.

  • Is the KIN TwoM able to send texts over 170 characters to other Verizon users?

    So one thing that basically all Verizon phones have is Backup Assistant.  From what I read, the new KINs are the exception.  Likewise, it's nice to be able to send texts over 170 characters as single texts to other Verizon customers.  If you try to send texts that are over 170 characters to non-Verizon customers, you'll get an error text back.  I just want to make sure that re-branded KINs aren't the "exception" again.
    I like this phone on paper, but I'm hesistant because of:
    -No Backup Assistant.  It's not even the fact that I'd have to sit down and type all my contacts in, but rather my contacts won't be backed up regularly like they are now.
    -Some people seem to be having trouble getting the pictures off the phone.  From what I understand, the original KINs would save the high-resolution photo to the Studio, and a smaller low-resolution picture to the phone.  With the re-branded KINs, is there any way I can get the 8MP picture off the phone?  What's the point of a good camera if I can't keep the high-resolution pictures?
    -The possible texting over 170 characters issue.
    Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

    - I haven't messed with any of the uploading to the computer because honestly they didn't give any software.  I just downloaded ZUNE to see if I can transfer photos or videos through that, maybe contacts too, but thats highly unlikely.
    -ABOVE:  Trying to install ZUNE because i heard you can transfer through that.
    I have e-mailed a photo as an MMS to my e-mail but it only transfers as a 600x400 pixel image, which is not 8MP.  I will try sending a photo to another phone and using a memory card to transfer but that would be annoying and required 2 VERIZON users + a memory card.
    -You can text over 170.  I have tested this.  I am not sure if you can receive over 170 but sending is not a problem.

  • I need to add text over a still photo in iMovie.  Following directions that always worked before but not this time.

    I am running OS 10.6.8, an upgrade that I did after Christmas.  A couple of times a year, I need to make a video of my students' performances, and have always been able to add text over the still photos before, using the directions in iMovie "help."  However, this time, I am not able to choose a title style; no amount of clicking makes anything show up on the selected still photo.  And no amount of trying to choose the font style makes anything show up either.
    This is iMovie 09; is it possible that it is not compatible with my OS upgrade?
    I've been able to insert still photos into the video footage, but can't add any titles or acknowledgements.  Thank you so much for your help!  Since I only do this a couple of times a year, it always takes me forever to accomplish, which is why I printed off the Help directions to follow.

    just to make thing clear (sorry for sounding impudent!)
    you do .... :
    create a New Project
    make a selection of an Event and add it to the Project
    select a title and drag it onto the clip?

  • How do I edit text in a fill-in form?

    How do I edit text in a fill-in form?  I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 10.1.8 in Mac OSX.  The document was created in Word, saved as a pdf, opened in Acrobat, and form fields added.  Now I need to change some of the text on the original form (mostly just dates).  Ideally, I wish there were a way to edit the forms overall - add or delete lines, edit text, etc.  I've done this before, but I always seem to need to go back to Word, edit the original document, and then re-create the form fields... it takes me a huge amount of time, making sure each field is formatted correctly (font, size, wrapping, text resizing, etc) so it looks ok when the user enters their data and prints it.  Please, tell me there is a better way!
    If the solution is upgrading to a higher version of Acrobat, I'm listening... but ideally I can get this batch done in the software I have, then worry about learning the newest version.

    Fonts are Licensed asset's subject to single user use. They are not intended to be exchanged, redistributed, etc.
    As part of the PDF standard they included in a document so that the document can be viewed reliably without the font be installed on the viewing station.
    To edit you must have the font installed on your computer. The ability for second parties to use the font would violate font licenses.

  • Question on the known solution to the "Three pixel text jog" problem

    Hello,
    I'm "browser-checking" my website using Dreamweaver CS4 tool for that. I've got in various places the "three pixel text jog" IE problem. I followed the link to solution proposed by DW. It says I should add an IE conditional statement in the <head> part, so that I can define the CSS zoom property for that particular element. Hence, something like that:
    <!--[if IE]>
    <style type="text/css">
    #Content p { zoom: 1; } /* three pixel text jog IE bug */
    </style>
    <![endif]-->
    (assuming the problem occurs for a <p> inside my #Content div.)
    My question is: can I replace this by
    <!--[if IE]>
    <style type="text/css">
    #Content * { zoom: 1; } /* three pixel text jog IE bug */
    </style>
    <![endif]-->
    For another browser problem (prevent the browsers from using some of their own default settings), it was advised to reset the margin, padding and border properties using:
       border: 0;
       margin: 0;
       padding: 0;
    (although in my case I had to later remove border: 0; because it would prevent default buttons of forms to be displayed as buttons.)
    Does this * really mean "anything"? Is it valid as used above for fixing the three pixel text jog problem? If not, do I really have to define this zoom property for any single HTML element for which it occurs? (It currently occurs for some headers, <div>, "<div> <div>" sequence, some <p>.)
    Any comment welcome...
    Emilie
    P.S.: I tried it and DW doesn't flag that problem any more, but I'm unsure how much I can trust it.

    The behavior is unexpected. The file paths are
    correct?

  • Putting Text over a video is not working

    O.K.  I follow the instructions on putting text over a video (for iMovie 11), but every time I do this all I see is a black screen with the text in it.  I can't get the video to show up when I preview/play the video.  I have the same problem when trying to use the green screen feature as well.  Is there a setting or something that I need to change in iMovie?  If so what/where is it, because I am at my "witts end" trying to find it?

    I would suggest trashing the iMovie Preferences file. Instructions are here. (You should not need to trash the iApps preferences, just the iMovie one.)

  • How to write text over a picture in Pages 5.0?

    In a Pages 5.0 document I want to write a text over a picture. This text will allways stay 'behind' the picture.
    I can change the order of the picture (in front of at the back), but the text will not become visable.
    It did work in Pages '09...
    What am I doing wrong?
    For for helping me...

    Assuming your text is in your document, and you insert a picture. While the picture is selected, you will notice that on the right format panel, the Arrange tab has appeared. Select either Stay on Page, or Move with Text — depending on your image goal — and then look at the Text Wrap feature. By default, once you drop a picture into the document, it is set to Automatic. This means you can place your pointer in the image and just move it around, while text flows around it. The smaller the image the better the flow effect. This is a discussion about Pages v5.2.2, but it will work the same in v5.5.
    Let's say you want the image flush aligned to the left margin, but want text to flow above, to the right, and below the image. Change text wrap automatic to Around, select the right icon for Text Fit, and adjust your spacing up or down for the proximity of the text wrap to the image. It looks like this with Text Fit spacing set to 9 pt.

  • Setting Text over an Icon which is on a JLabel - Urgent

    Can someone help me. I need to set some text over an Image/Icon which is placed over a JLabel.

    You should simply change the iconTextGap value (according to the string width and the icon width if you want it centered) :
              JFrame frame = new JFrame("Centered label");
              JLabel label = new JLabel("centered label",new ImageIcon("im1.gif"),SwingConstants.LEFT);
              frame.getContentPane().add(label, BorderLayout.CENTER);
              frame.pack();
              frame.setVisible(true);
              int iconWidth = label.getIcon().getIconWidth();
              Font font = label.getFont();
              Graphics g = label.getGraphics();
              FontMetrics fm = g.getFontMetrics();
              int stringWidth = fm.stringWidth(label.getText());
              label.setIconTextGap(-stringWidth+((stringWidth-iconWidth)/2) );
    I have made the frame visible before setting the texticongap because you can't get the graphic context of a component if this component is invisible.
    Now the label is perfectly centered on the icon.
    I hope this helps,
    Denis

  • New user:  Problems placing text over object

    Hi,
    I have recently started using InDesign CS5 to produce the biannual magazine for a volunteer organisation.  My background is not in this area, so please excuse me if  I do not use correct terminology or am asking something obvious.  Having said that I have been very impressed with the ease of the programme to use for what we need.
    I am having a problem with the document I am currently working in, however if I place the same elements in a different document things are ok, so I know it is something I have accidently done, but after a lot of playing around I am at a loss.
    My issue is when I place an Object (a photo for the cover) and then try to place text over the top the text disappears on the object, however can be seen when you take it off it.  You see the text box with the red cross mark in the bottom right corner.  If you ask to "bring to front" nothing happens.  Same if you try it using the photo.  Oher objects (logo) can be placed on top of the photo.  I have tried using Layers, but to no success.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Inserting text over an image in dreamweaver cc

    I am trying to insert text over an image in fluid grid layout but all i can see is the text.  I have seen the previous query relating to this but it does not help.  Help on this would be great.

    Layers or APDivs won't work in FluidGrid Layouts.  You'll need to drop the image into your container's background with CSS.   Or use Photoshop to apply text directly to your graphic.

  • Shattered theme with text over photo

    How do you use the shatted theme and place text over a photo?  I have to use a blank text screen.  I did it before, but cant use i now.

    If you can't get both titles and descriptions with the Classic theme try creating a new slideshow and give it another go"
    If that fails as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

  • IE 6 - I really can't get rid of the 3-pixel text jog

    Hello,
    I'm afrait that's a bit more of the same about the 3-pixel text jog. I'm testing a website in IE6, have spent a whole day trying to figure out how to get rid of this jog, tried various solutions found in this forum and on the web, and nothing works. I don't understand why the zoom property works for most people except me!
    The website is here: http://www.cerc.co.uk/CERC/v02/
    I've put background colors to the main div tags to check the layout, so that's why it looks funny.
    I wouldn't be that bothered with a 3-pixel extra gap between elements if it wasn't turning some page layout upside down. For these pages, the content zone (light blue background) jumps down until the side menu bottom edge (yellow background).
    Examples of the problem:
    http://www.cerc.co.uk/CERC/v02/research.html
    http://www.cerc.co.uk/CERC/v02/support/training.html
    http://www.cerc.co.uk/CERC/v02/about/contact/enquiries.html
    (All other pages will show you how it's meant to be displayed.)
    If someone has an idea, I'd really appreciate to hear about it!
    Emilie
    P.S.: I also attach a screenshot to show what I'm seeing. This is in IE 6 on Windows XP emulated on Mac OS X 10.5 via VMware, so perhaps this problem only occurs with this computer configuration (which would then solve the problem!).

    If that may help anyone, I eventually managed to solve this problem! Here is the solution in "my" case. I thought it was only the 3-pixel text jog problem, but I needed two corrections and therefore I suspect I had two problems mixed—making it a total nightmare to debug for a newbie because the widely documented 3-pixel text jog fix didn't work.
    Context : in this page structure, the elements in trouble in IE 6 are the divs #SideMenu (the side menu, orangish background colour in the attached screenshot)  and #Content (the content area, blueish background colour). #SideMenu is floated left and has a width of 16 em. #Content is not floated and has a left-margin of 16 em (no width, it's supposed to take whatever is left on the page and the page is allowed to extend from 770 pixels to 970 pixels in width).
    Problem: for some pages with this HTML structure (and just nothing fancy inside #Content), the entire #Content div drops down until the top of #Content matches the bottom of #SideMenu.
    I needed two fixes, which I both coded to be for IE6 only using IE conditional comments.
    Fix 1: A new CSS rule for #Content that (re)sets the left margin to 16.5 em. That gives more room to the divs and the entire #Content div isn't dropping down any longer. However, after setting this up, some other pages started to show some problems: part of the content of #Content would drop down (e.g. a table inside #Content).
    Fix 2: applying the zoom: 1 property to #Content fixed this second problem.
    I hope this makes sense and might help someone else.

  • Overlay Drop Down Links/Rotating Text Over Graphic/Background

    I am fairly new to DW and am currently using Dreamweaver CS4. I would like to overlay drop down links and rotating text over a graphic image/background and am curious as to how this would best be accomplished. Is each piece; background/graphic, drop down links and rotating text a different layer? Can this type of thing be created using just DW or do I need Flash or something else? Please let me know if I should provide an example on the web to illustrate what it is I am trying to do - I wasn't sure if it is permissible to post links to sites that you don't own or are affiliated with in some way.
    I don't expect to be spoon feed but getting pointed in the right direction on what to research would be a big help!

    Is each piece a different layer?
    Not necessary to put everything inside an APDiv or layer.
    The best advice I can offer is to build unstyled HTML content logically from top to bottom of page.  I know, plain HTML is ugly but that's OK.
    Then use CSS to add background images/colors, text/menu styles and alignment.  Use default CSS positioning (which is no positioning at all) and use margins, padding and floats to arrange elements where you want them.
    See sample CSS Layout: (view code to see how it's done)
    http://alt-web.com/TEMPLATES/I-page-with-floats.html
    Can this type of thing be created using just DW or do I need Flash or something else?
    If you can work with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code, you can do everything you want in Dreamweaver.  Flash is certainly optional but many devices (iPhones...) don't support Flash.
    Start by learning the basics first, then DW will be much easier for you to use.
