Pixelated photos in CC

My photos look terrible in CC. Very pixelated. However they look much better in Bridge and CS6. Am I missing a setting. It is impossible to edit this way.

Thanks for trying to work me through this..... Before I follow your latest suggestions, I guess I need some clarification... When I said "do I need a backup?" I meant do I need to burn all my iPhoto library to CDs to keep from losing them.... Your comment was to always backup. I don't do any backing up now that I am aware of. Do I need to purchase an external hard drive to back up my entire iMac to? Obviously, this is what happens when your computer-savvy son hightails it off to college......Please advise about backing up.... and, one more comment on the iPhoto problem.....I just noticed this a.m., that the "checkerboard" pixelatingo f my photos only occurs in the lowest (furthest left) range of my size slider. That is, if I click on a photo to edit, and the size slider is all the way to the left, it pixelates the photo. If I move the slider to the right either 1/3 or 1/2 way, the pixelating checkerboard disappears. Of course, then I have a huge zoomed in version of the photo - larger than I want in most cases. Hmmm, it's a poser, as we say....
Thanks....

How can I take a 600 x 600 pixel photo of myself using photo booth.  I need it for a passport application

If you live in the US, you will need to have your passport picture taken from the place you obtained your application, local county store (office), Federal buildling, and/or the post office.  There are even places in the "mall" that are authorized to take passport pictures.
    Photobooth photos won't do.

  • "pixelated photos in iPhoto gallery

When I try to edit a photo, the photo gets all pixelated (like a checkerboard pattern) and the same thing happens if I try t edit and switch photo to B&W. I have been using iPhoto for years and this is a new occurrence......

  • Grainy, pixelated photos in Photoshop and ACR

All my photos in Photoshop and ACR look very grainy and pixelated on my new Macbook Pro? How do I fix this? I have already updated everything and installed the plugin for my raw files. Any help is appreciated!
    Using Photoshop CS5

Check Preferences > Performance > Cache levels.  It needs to be set to a value higher than one.
If that does not help, can you tell us what camera these RAW files come from.  If a Nikon, have they been processed in the Nikon bundled software?

  • Elements 11 Pixelated Photos

I have elements 11 and whenever I try to zoom into the photo, it gets really pixelated really quickly and I'm not able to do very detailed editing.. Any suggestions on what I could do to fix that?
    (Using Windows 8)
ps.. I also have PSE 8 installed on another computer (windows 7), and I do not have that issue.

    Hi 27Prac,
    Thanks for a prompt reply.
To explain then folders are on my desktop and i require to oepn the folder and then view all the photos in that folder, currently i only see .jpeg images and not the .crt files.
Prior to loading elements 11 i had elements 10 and i could see all photos in any desktop folder, its only when i upgraded to elements 11 that this ocured?

  • Help! pixelated photos in aperture

My iphoto library with 30000 photos (over 235GB) got corrupted.  I managed to restore it from a back up but could not see any of the images in iphoto, however the structure of the library remained intact.  I imported them into aperture 3 - which worked but all the images and previews are pixelated.  Is there any fix for this problem?  Is there a setting in aperture that changes the resolution of the viewed image?
thanks for your help. I am very frustrated.
    Danielle

    Danielle,
open the Preferences Panel in Aperture
Aperture -> Preferences   and select the "Previews" tab.
There you can set the quality of the previews. Select a size at least as large as the size of your Display.
Also check the button "New Projects automatically generate Previews".
After you changed the settings, you will want to update your previews.  Select the images in the Browser and from the Photos Menu select: Update Previews.
Hopefully your images will then look better.
    Regards

  • Grainy (pixels) photos in iPhoto

I recently transferred and combined 2 iPhoto libraries. I copied the library from iPhoto 6 and imported it into iPhoto 9. I now have 40,000+ photos in the library. Here is the problem: The photos from the older iPhoto library are grainy and have a lot of pixelation in them. The pictures are grainy on the screen and when I print them. What could I have done to cause this? The pictures were fine before the transfer.

I originally copied the DATA folder
So you didn't copy the whole library? Just the data folder - which is the one with the Thumbnails...
    Anyway:
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network, Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Then use iPhoto Library Manager to merge the two libraries.

  • Pixelated photos

    good evening
I imported a jpg photo in photoshop: dimensions 267 x 401 and size 19.7 KB.
Then I imported in another layer, over the 1st photo, a second jpg file which is bigger in dimensions and size: 9449 x 13386 and 5.84 MB.
Unfortuntaely, the second imported jpg becomes heavily pixelated.
How can I solve the issue?
    Thanks

You are taking an extreemly large image and trying to pack it into a tiny image. A term comes to mind about trying to shove 12 inches of stuff into a 2 inch pipe. It never works out well and is always messy.
In all likelyhood you need to try to open the big image and try to scale it to size first, but with the original being that large its still not going to scale down well from a 9k x 13 k image into a 200 x 400. its simply too much information in too small an area.
Do you need the entire 9x 13 k image ?

  • Lightoom Distorting/pixelating photos

I an shooting Olympus Raw with and E-1 and an E-3.. and I often find when I adjust the exposure I am getting pixelated areas like in the sample photo...  thoughts of cause??
The photos don't come from the camera this way it only occurs when i try to adjust

Please update to Lightroom 2.6. (You are probably using Lightroom 2.5.)

  • How does screen saver smooth pixelated photos?

When selecting an album of photos in Screen Saver preferences, I noticed that a small sized photo within the album appeared quite smooth when displayed via the Screen Saver, but the same photo viewed via Preview at the same magnification appeared highly pixelated.  I would like to know how this is done to make other photos look smooth at high magnification, outside of Screen Saver.

Hello, I believe it's Quartz Composer...

  • Pixeled photo slide shows

I have come to the realization that it is not possible to make a decent looking slideshow in imovie without the image quality going to crap. What proffesional program can I use to make slideshows where I am able to time my music to my slides much like you can do in imovie but not lose any image quality. Please help I am extremely fustrated

I've done many slideshows using previous versions of iphoto, including and up to version 5. However, the most recent version, 6.0.1, does a horrible job. Among other huge bugs in this new version, still photos lose a huge amount of their quality when you import them. You can do a slideshow in iphoto and keep your images clear, but you don't have as much creativity available for music editing and such as in imovie. I find this and the other problems in this new version very very maddening. I have been watching for the patches to come out, but nothing yet. There is no reason that imovie should not be able to do a basic slideshow.

  • Grainy (Pixels) photos In Photos

Imported library into Photos. When you zoom in on the photo in iPhoto the photo is sharp. When you zoom in in Photos the photo is grainy (see picture). I can't figure out why. Do i have to change some settings?

Probably the poor quality is because you're zooming in on the thumbnail rather than the actual image file.
I've noticed the same bad picture quality. In my case the problem is that my iphoto-library does not contain the original picture files. I never imported my original pictures into the iphoto-library, instead i was working with connected files in iphoto. For some reason this connection to the actual picture files got lost when photos imported the iphoto-library. Therefore it seems that -- at least in my case -- photos is zooming in on the thumbnail, because it doesn't know where to look for the original file.
When i double-click on a picture in photos, the app asks for permission to reconnect to the original files. Although photos even makes the suggestion to connect to the pictures folder in your user directory (where i actually have all my pictures stored in their subfolders) that won't do the trick. Unfortunately, i have to reassign the exact same folder the original file is stored in. Which is, quite frankly, a pain in the... well, you know...
Not sure if that helps you in any way...
    Regards, tolam.
