PL/SQL report running slow even with Shared_Servers set to 10

I am running into a problem with a PL/SQL query that displays in the Report region. I have changed my Shared_Servers parameter and that has not helped. There are less than 10 users on the system. I ran debug and the app is running a long time (10 seconds) in "rows loop: 20 row(s)" where 20 is the number of rows displayed per page. If I run the query in regular SQL, then the results are displayed almost instantaneously. Any ideas?

I figured out my problem. My statistics were out-of-date on one of my tables. I re-analyzed the table and that solved the problem. Now the results display within milliseconds. What a huge difference that made.

  • Why is my macbook pro running slow.  It runs slow even if only one app is open, especially if it's a browser.  I don't know how to read Etrecheck, but was hoping someone who does can help me out.  Would be super grateful.  :-)

Hi.  This is my first time posting.  My Macbook Pro with Os X Mavericks has been running super slow since before I installed Mavericks so I'm pretty sure it's not the OS that has the problem.  It runs slow even if only one app is open, especially if it's a browser, particulary google chrome.  If mail is open...forget about it, down to a crawl.  I don't know how to read Etrecheck, but was hoping someone who does can help me out.  Would be super grateful.  :-)
P.S. - Also, it sounds like something is loose inside my mac.  How should I proceed?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Strange problem... Query runs faster, but report runs slow...

    Hi Gurus,
We are using Report 10g on 10g Application server and solaris. we created a report on a table which has 10,000 rows. The report has 25 columns. when we run this query in Toad it took 12 sec for fetching all these 10,000 rows
But when we run the report with Destype = 'FILE' and Desformat = 'DELIMITEDDDATA', it is taking 5 to 8 minutes
to open in excel ( we concatenated mimetype=vnd-msexcel at the end of the url if the Destype=FILE). We removed the layout in the report as it is taking 10 to 15 mins to run to Screen with Desformat=HTML/PDF(formating pages taking more time). We are wondering why DELIMITEDDATA format is taking long time as it runs only query.
Does RWSERVLET take more time of writing the data to the Physical file in the cache dir? Our cache size is 1 GB. we have 2 report servers clustered. Tracing is off.
Please advise me if there are any report server settings to boost the performance.
    Thanks alot,
    Ram.

  • My macbook air running slow even on recovery mode

My macbook air running slow even on recovery mode when I press Alt + Power it takes me to Mac os Utilities the mouse barely moves, I erased every thing on the hard drive so I can install a fresh copy of mac os but I couldn't because every time I try to boot up from the USB that got the mac os it takes for ever to load the OS for installtion, and some times every thing freeze when I'm on the Mac os Utilities mode. Any ideas of what's going on ?

Contact AppleCare or make an appt with your local Apple Store Genius. I don't think this is a problem we can help with.

Found this solution in another thread, what you want to do is go into the Nike Fitness thing, go to run, go to Spoken Feedback and set it to off. This should fix your problems.

  • SSRS reports running slow while fetching data from SQL server DB

We are currently facing issues with lots of our SSRS reports running very slow. Approx they are taking around 15-20 minutes compared to earlier which was 2-3 minutes.
Also, the SSRS reports which fetch their data from a Database is acting as Subscriber for a reporting server. That is we have an OLTP DB server whose Database say 'A' is getting replicated onto the server where say Database 'B'. On this B we have our SSRS
reports fetching the required data and are reported to be running very slow.
As a start I have checked for Index and stats to be properly updated and yes they are.
I am not sure now, from where to start analysing the issue.
I believe replication, not to be the issue as earlier also we had replication set up and never saw the slowness.
IS memory or IO causing a problem, please help as i am not sure on how to find a fix for this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
You need to first find out what all are slow? Is it that the whole instance is slow? How about other queries /replication etc against those databases? Are they slow?
Check the reports which are slow, try to find the slowest reports and then start looking at execution plans. Check if there is any kind of blocking happening during the time the reports run. Also try running the reports manually and see if there is a difference
in execution time. Take a look at the waitstats during the time the reports are running.

  • SQL Developer running slow, possibly caused by Java Virtual Machine

    Dear all
I am currently working with SQL Developer 1.5.1, connecting to an Oracle database 10.2.0.2 and it is taking about 10 minutes for SQL Developer to load. I believe the problem may be due to the Java Development kit. I upgraded to the latest version last week.
The versions running according to Java settings is:
    1.6 1.6.0_15 http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe  true
    1.6 1.6.0_07 http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\javaw.exe  true
1.4 1.4.2 http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\bin\javaw.exe  trueHaving looked at other posts on here I have run SQL Developer with the console and the messages in that are as follows:

I would say the problem occurred within the last couple of months but has got much worse in recently weeks. SQL Developer is also slow at times, mainly when I've used another application and it is just in the background.

    Hi there
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I use GeoRaptor and for what I use it for, I have not come across any errors whilst using it.
I had no reference to the JDK in my SQL Developer configuration file. I did a search on my system and could not located a copy of JDK, or one in my programs installed control panel, so I installed it again. However I then found a copy in the sqldeveloper folder. However that wasn't referenced in my control panel.
However having added a reference to the JDK in my SQL Developer configuration file, pointing to C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_16, it seems to be taken even longer to load.
SQL Developer is using 98,608k once loaded and my system has 1.25GB of memory. Whilst loading I was using 1.38GB. For about a year I've had slightly less memory than I sometimes use. The reason for not having 2GB is due to a previous memory failure. However this did not cause a problem for SQL developer until more recently.
Would it be worth reinstalling GeoRapter?
    Kind regards
    Tim

  • BW report running slow

    Hi,
We have reports build on one multicube and its is running very slow ..after entering selction paarameters it keeps running for long time even when i am running for one cal year/month but earlier it was running fine
we have compressed req of cubes which are in this MP
and moreover we have other reports also based on same MP they are running ok only problem with 1 report
can anyone pls tell what to check for ?also i tried executing in web same report there also it took lot of time
    any quick helpa pprecaited
    thanks
    nilesh

I faced a similar issue once. Upon investigating the execution plan, i found that the query was reading 0VENDOR Text multiple times because we had 4 or 5 different vendor partners displaying text. We moved those vendor partners into free characteristics and asked the users to drill down by those partners as needed instead of having it in the initial report view.
We also had an issue with reading UOM conversion tables and currency conversion tables at query run time. One query which did not use those conversion tables ran fine but one query which used those conversion tables on the same info provider was running real slow. We then moved the calculation in the transformations and then the report ran much faster.
These are couple of things i have noticed on my reports that were running slow.
You can run RSRT in debug mode. Select Query execution plan and Query Statistics. Both of these will give you wonderful insights into what really is happening when the query is executed.
The query statistics will tell you how many fact table records were actually read. The Query execution plan will tell you each table that is being accessed by your query.
    Good Luck.

  • Macbook pro runs slowly even with tons of free memory??

    Hi,
I've seriously tried to follow everyone's advice on how to keep your Macbook running efficiently, even so I have serious problems with it. For one thing, Microsoft Office programs run more slowly on my Macbook Pro than they would on a PC from 1995. If I open Word or Excel, it takes at least 6 minutes to load, and then functions ok (most of the time) but if I try to save a file, graphics wig out and typing the name of the file, it's like each letter is processed 3 seconds at a time after taking a whole minute to understand what I'm even typing in the first place. I use Google Chrome (no, safari doesn't run any faster) and I sometimes have issues with that. Finder also! It takes so long to click around my folders because my computer responds so slowly. It also sometimes wigs out when I try to jump between desktop screens. And actually even the mouse cursor decides not to respond for a few seconds.
I have 411 GB (out of 500) of free memory. I don't run multiple apps at once--usually I will run Chrome and Word, and then if I absolutely must, also Excel or Powerpoint, but I really try to use at most 3 at a time, and then I still have these severe problems. Sometimes I only have Word open and I still have these problems. My desktop is not cluttered; I clean it out regularly so I have like 5 files on there, pretty much all screenshots. My downloads folder does not have a billion files in it; it has accumulated some but I do make an effort to clean it regularly so there really isn't much. I don't have tons of music or movies or pictures or anything on my computer, and I also clean out my deleted files in the trash regularly.
That being said, I'm not an expert on computer maintenance (because I always seem to have these issues), so maybe there are other things I haven't tried that people could recommend? I'm pretty sure that my RAM or CPU (I don't know the difference because I don't know much about computers) are being overexhausted, because sometimes I can actually hear the fan going off because my Mac is trying hard to process stuff (this happened 5 minutes ago when I had nothing but Chrome opened but I restarted and now it's quiet again). But I don't know how to check RAM or CPU usage on my Mac? And since I don't run that many apps anyway I don't know how to resolve this problem.
Is there anything else I can try? Some other folders I should clean out? If so, can you please explain where to find these folders on OS X Yosemite? Because I used to be a  person, but I bought this Macbook Pro a year ago and I still have trouble navigating. Or if you think I should take this into the apple store and have it looked at, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance. \

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Oracle 10g Reports running slow

On one server we have an issue with some reports of 2pages taking 2 minutes or more to run, but on another server with the same data transferred across the same report runs in about 3-5 seconds.
The reports we are having issues with contain graphs.
The server spec is better on the slower running report server than the other report server.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi,
did you any exceptions you in the logs of report server??
    Location:
    $ORACLE_HOME/reports/logs/ <report_server> / .
Remove a trace, when your executing the graphical report.
It would help you to finding why the report is taking so much time
please follow the below link for tracing the reports in OAS 10g

  • Financial Reporting batch reports run slow at random

    FR reports version: 11.1.2.1
This is a summary of our environment:
-Linux server where Hyperion batch reports run
-Linux (SLES-11) server where Essbase resides
-Windows 2008 server where Hyperion Print Service and GhostScript reside
This is what we observed this morning:
Batch reports are executed serially by a master shell script.
One of these reports takes 30+ minutes to complete. The exact same report usually completes in less than 3 minutes.
This problem occurs 3 to 5 times each morning, and not necessarily on the same report.
While the report shows ‘Running’ in the Hyperion Batch Scheduler, there is no process present on reports server. There is no active session on Essbase. There is no active print process on the print server.
Eventually, the report completes successfully and the pdf file is present on reports server.
We haven’t been able to determine where the process is during the period that it appears to be stuck. The best we can do is to look at the status on the Batch Scheduler. It is not a practical option for us to schedule everything using the Batch Scheduler on a daily basis.(this is what Oracle is suggesting, by the way).
Has anybody experienced similar FR batch reports slowness?
    Thanks.

  • Firefox 4 constantly runs slow, even after following the solutions

I have tried the solution pages and help, but firefox 4 optimised for yahoo still continues to run slow. I have never had this problem with firefox 3.6 for yahoo. this is driving me crazy, please help!!

try google chrome 10.x, these kinds of problem often happens to some specific websites. so, you need an alternative sometimes. and sometimes it is the problem of the websites, so calm down buddy. during internet rush hours i.e 18:00-22:00 monday to friday, it may make you unpleasant even with some BIG websites, so don't be that fuss to this.

  • My Macbook Pro running slow even after format

Hello guys, I've had this problem with my 2009 unibody 13" Macbook Pro for at least a month. Last month I tried to reinstall OSX Lion which i previously had, but the install failed for saveral attemps (probably for my slow internet). I finally managed to get OSX Lion on and it was increadibly slow even no programs are installed so I reinstalled it again and again but the same problem still comes up. So i went to an Apple Store (Thailand) and the apple guy assisted me by trying harddisk permission repair, reinstalling the os again, none worked, i still get a super slow computer. So I went home and downgraded the os to snow leopard, it seemed to work just fine at first but after i install several (4-5) basic applications, it started to get slow again (still faster than when it was lion). Whenever i open two or three applications at once or even browsing a webpage alone i get the spinning rainbow cursor. Somebody told me its probably the harddrive, who do u think? please help - thanks.

Yes it is your hard drive.
Backup your files off the machine and before you reinstall OS X again, this time use the 10.6 disk > Disk Utility > Erase with Security Option > Zero All Data, make sure your ENTIRE hard drive is slected on the left.
Let that complete and install 10.6, then update to 10.6.8, that should be the fastest OS X version for that machine.
If you go to 10.7, it's going to slow down a little bit again.
If you can't complete the Zero erase (it takes some time to finish) after trying 2x and or still having problems after that, then the drive is causing the defective sectors and needs to be replaced.
Keep your boot drive below 50% filled for maximum performance, but never more than 80% filled.
