• WEB SERVICES with XML

Hi friends,
Kindly let me know whate is web services, how to start work on that.
My client requirement for couple of objects is:
1. Create a web service which can perform the following actions:
a. Read the XML input file.
b. Perform the action defined in the XML file and create/update/query the business objects in SAP. The service should be scalable for change in data model, if the xml file contains different attributes, it should interpret and perform the appropriate actions
c. Output the required data as xml file based on the definition, which is defined in XML file or template

• JAX-WS PL/SQL Web Service with JDeveloper (Weblogic problem)

Hello,
does anyone know how to create a JAX-WS webservice based on a pl-sql package using JDeveloper? Maybe it is possible with a newer version of JDeveloper 11.1.2.3, currently I'm using 11.1.1.6 which only offers a JAX-RPC for PlSql Web services.
I'm facing a problem right now trying to deploy an jax-rpc web service on Weblogic 10.3.4. Actually it seems to be an WebLogic problem because weblogic doesn't support the older standard (JAX-RPC). So I've extended the weblogic domain using Fusion Middleware Configuration Wizard like described for example here . Unfortunately it doesn't help. Deploying my applicaiton on a forms11g (11.1.1.4) domain (which goes hand in hand with the weblogic domain (?)) is successful. But anyway I can't call the WSDL or test the web service using weblogic console. Other services (jax-ws) work without any problem on the same forms domain.
I would appreciate any hint, how to automatically produce an jax-ws web service from an plsql package or how to run a jax-rpc web service on weblogic 10.3.4. It's Weblogic Basic Server actually, but I'm of the opinion it doesn't play a role in my case.
Thank you in advance for your hints.
Kind regards,
Anton
Edit: I would appreciate any hint how to check if a weblogic domain supports jax-rpc (if extended correctly). Thanks.

• VB Web service with arrays as variant type - access from java

Hi, I have a VB service as an activex.dll running on IIS. My first experience with VB.
The input type is variant, as VB will only handle arrays of that type. All works well with
a VB client. It takes 2 arrays in and returns an array. The WSDL file using a complex
type of
<complexType name='ArrayOfanyType'>
<complexContent>
<restriction base='SOAP-ENC:Array'>
<attribute ref='SOAP-ENC:arrayType' wsdl:arrayType='anyType[]'/>
</restriction>
</complexContent>
</complexType>
I take this WSDL file to the client side, change the type to
<complexType name='ArrayOfinteger'>
<complexContent>
<restriction base='SOAP-ENC:Array'>
<attribute ref='SOAP-ENC:arrayType' wsdl:arrayType='integer[]'/>
</restriction>
</complexContent>
</complexType>
and then generate the Java proxy using jdeveloper 9031. All is good and I call the service
and get a response, which in turn gives me a result. the result.getvalue fails with a caste
exception, [LObject[] to Integer[]. The return value is there, but it's type is Object, which I can
see by inspecting response in the debugger. I am getting
pretty sure it is not a Java Object, but a dom or sax Object. The DOM DocumentBuilder
works for String to get the values, but not for this Object type. Does anyone know how to
parse out an Object Type with DOM or SAX?

A java type "Object" is parent class of all java instances - to parse it with DOM or SAX requires you to cast it to the required object type by that parser api - eg "Document" - check out the DOM and SAX api docuemntation.

• PL/SQL Web services working with synonyms but not parameters Collection

Hi
I am Using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0
i could able to test successfully the PL/SQL web services with the synonyms.I created the PL/SQL web services in 'MKI' schema and then i dropped the objects from the MKI schema and launched the same in 'BAS' Schema and given grants to MKI schema and Created the Local synonyms in Schema 'MKI' and now when i test the PL/SQL web service, it is working successfully.
There was problem with passing the collection types as parameters in web services in that case it is giving the following Error
"Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handling request: java.rmi.RemoteException: java.sql.SQLException: Internal Error)"
Could any one suggest me the reason for the above error?
Regards
Malathi

Just a clarification about the problem.
Even though, if an exception is raised, the Connection object will be eventually closed(), it may take a while and if there are lots of users getting exceptions at the same time the connection pool can quickly run out of connections (correct me if I am wrong please.)
That is why we think the Connection object should be immediately closed in the case of an exception is raised and we are looking for a fix for this.
Thanks

• Accessing external web service with non-constant URL

Hello, all
I am looking in the documentation on accessing external web services, but either I am looking in the wrong place, or the documentatoin is lacking info.
My clients have several web services in the local network (regular services, not DB-based), the have the same interface, but different URL's.
Versions of the DB are 11, 12, and 16.
First of all, I do not see in the specs an option for a non-hardcoded URL. The logic says that this has to be possible, but I cannot find it.
Second, I need to see an example of accessing an XML or JSon based service, I cannot find it in the specs either.
Can anyone point me to a document with examples?
Thank you
Arcady

The following will call a web service with whatever URL you pass in as the argument "myurl". I think that is what you are looking for.
CREATE PROCEDURE cli_test2( myurl LONG VARCHAR )
RESULT( httpheaders long varchar, httpvalues long varchars
URL '!myurl'
To deal with the resulting data in XML, use the OPENXML() function.
eg. To turn an XML list of employees that looks like this:
<root>
<row EmployeeID="102" Surname="Whitney" GivenName="Fran" StartDate="1984-08-28"/>
</root>
into a table of results, you would do this (where xmlgetemplist() is the web service call):
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE xmlgetemplist() RESULT( httpheader long varchar, httpbody long varchar)
URL 'http://localhost/demo/xmlEmployeeList'
TYPE 'HTTP:GET';
create variable res long varchar;
-- call the web service
select httpbody into res from xmlgetemplist() where httpheader = 'Body'
-- extract the XML elements into a SQL result set
select * from openXML( res, '/root/row' ) WITH ( EmployeeID INT '@EmployeeID',
GivenName    CHAR(20) '@GivenName',
Surname      CHAR(20) '@Surname',
PhoneNumber  CHAR(10) '@Phone');
To deal with the resulting data in JSON, use the sp_parse_json() procedure.
eg.
To turn a JSON formatted list of employees that looks like this:
"EmployeeID": 102,
"Surname": "Whitney",
"GivenName": "Fran",
"StartDate": "1984-08-28",
"TerminationDate": null
into a table of results, you would do this (where jsongetemplist() is the web service call):
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE jsongetemplist() RESULT( httpheader long varchar, httpbody long varchar)
URL 'http://localhost/demo/jsonEmployeeList'
TYPE 'HTTP:GET';
create variable foo long varchar;
--call the webservice
select httpbody into foo from jsongetemplist() where httpheader = 'Body';
--turn the json result into a structured array of data
-- this step is required because of less structured nature of JSON
call sp_parse_json( 'output_array', foo);
--extract the JSON elements from the output array into a SQL result set
SELECT  output_array[[row_num]].EmployeeID as EmployeeID,
output_array[[row_num]].SurName as SurName,
output_array[[row_num]].GivenName as GivenName,
output_array[[row_num]].StartDate as StartDate,
output_array[[row_num]].TerminationDate as EndDate
FROM sa_rowgenerator(1, CARDINALITY(output_array))
Hope this helps,

• PL/SQL web service - how to use XML schema to define inputs/outputs?

Hello,
let us say I want to publish a PL/SQL web service. The package spec that I want to expose is:

<schema
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:soap11-enc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
xmlns:tns="http://uk/co/weatherbys/aapws/AAPWS.wsdl/types/"
targetNamespace="http://uk/co/weatherbys/aapws/AAPWS.wsdl/types/"
elementFormDefault="qualified">
<element name="loadresultsElement">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<element name="username" type="string" nillable="true"/>
<element name="password" type="string" nillable="true"/>
<element name="resultdata" nillable="true">
<complexType>
<sequence>
<any/>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
<element name="loadresultsResponseElement">
<complexType>

</element>
</sequence>
</complexType>
</element>
</schema>It is specifying that anything at all can be passed in and out from the two XMLType arguments, which is fair enough: it has no way of knowing what I am expecting and what I shall return.
My question is, how do I tell JDeveloper that actually I want either or both of those XMLTypes to conform to a particular XML schema?

You cannot format the date as a string, unless you do the conversion on the PL-SQL side, before you use it in your WebService mapping. It should be handled as a string.
The only way to convert the XML from SOAP, using this encoding, into literal XML is to apply XSLT to the payload. Not sure why you would like to do this, as the payload should be consumed by another SOAP-awared stack.
Hope this helps,
Eric

• How can I return multiple values with PL/SQL Web Services

Hi,
I'm new to developping Web Services. I'm doing some tests with JDeveloper and OC4J on my local machine with a Web Services based on a PL/SQL function within a package. Right now that function only returns one value. So the xml response only has one output.
I'd like to know how can I return multiple values with my PL/SQL Web Service. For example, if I want to return an employee's name and id? And that the xml contains two output : <employee>, <empid>?
Reginald
ps : I have searched the forum and I couldn't find an answer to this question, if that has been discussed AND answered before, can you please post the link? Thanks

Alright, I actually found my answer. Since this was asked I think as a followup somewhere else I'll give my answer.
It is very simple, all you have to do is create an Object Type and then Return that object type. After that, JDeveloper will take care of everything and you will have an xml response with multiple values. Here
{color:#ff0000}
create or replace TYPE person AS OBJECT
( id_interv number,
first_name VARCHAR2(50),
last_name VARCHAR2(50),
date_birth date
);{color}
Then your function used in your Web Service should look something like this :
{color:#ff0000}
function info_emp (p_empno IN VARCHAR2) RETURN person AS
l_emp person := person(-1,'','','');
BEGIN
SELECT first_name
,last_name
,emp_no
INTO l_emp.first_name
,l_emp.last_name
,l_emp.emp_no
FROM emp
WHERE upper(emp_no) = upper (emp_no);
{color}
{color:#ff0000}
RETURN l_emp;
EXCEPTION WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
l_emp := person (-1,'n/a','n/a','n/a');
RETURN l_emp ;
END info_emp;{color}
{color:#ff0000}{color:#000000}After that, this is what the xml response looks like :{color}{color}
<first_name xsi:type="xsd:string">John</first_name>
<last_name xsi:type="xsd:string">Doe</last_name>
<emp_no xsi:type="xsd:string">0250193</emp_no>

When I run the ant task, the build complete successfully but the .war file cannot be deployed on the WLS server. Taking a closer look, I see that the required files such as, webservices.xml, weblogic.xml, weblogic-webservices.xml, Provision.wsdl files are not generated.
Following is the build.xml file:

<project default="jwsc">
<property file="build.properties"/>
<property name="weblogic.jar.classpath"
value="C:/bea_jDev/wlserver_10.3/server/lib"/>
<property name="oimclient.jar.classpath"
value="C:/_data/Project_Dc/OIM_jars" />
<property name="com.jar.classpath" value="C:/JDeveloper/mywork/Service_Test/lib" />
<taskdef name="jwsc" classname="weblogic.wsee.tools.anttasks.JwscTask">
<classpath>

<pathelement path="WEBLOGIC_HOME"/>
<fileset dir="${weblogic.jar.classpath}">
<include name="**/*.jar"/>
</fileset>

</classpath>
</taskdef>
<target name="all" depends="clean,build-service,deploy"></target>
<target name="build-service">
<jwsc srcdir="${src.home}" destdir="ear_directory" >
<classpath>

<pathelement path="OIM_HOME"/>
<fileset dir="${oimclient.jar.classpath}">
<include name="**/*.jar"/>
</fileset>
<fileset dir="${com.jar.classpath}">
<include name="**/*.jar"/>
</fileset>

</classpath>
<jws file="${jws.home}" type="JAXWS" />
</jwsc>
</target>
<target name="deploy">

</target>
<target name="clean">
<delete dir="output" />
</target>
</project>
Can you please point out what else is to be done and where exactly am I going wrong in writing the build.xml file.
Let me know if some else information is required.

This is what I get when I run the ant task:
Buildfile: C:\JDeveloper\mywork\ProvisioningService_Test2\Provision\resource\build.xml

Due to some limitations, I edited the path in the build.xml files.
Please let me know what can be done. Thanks.

• PL/SQL web services, removed in JDev 11?

hello,
I cannot seem to find this option anymore.
has it been removed?
I cannot understand why it was removed if it is.
I know quite a few companies who rely heavily on these webservices.
Someone prove me wrong and show me where they are!
Anton

The short answer is yes, we plan to reintroduce this functionality in a way that is compatible with Oracle WLS.
A limited version of this feature is actually still present in JDev 11g, but it's harder to find.... From the DB Connection Navigator, you can right click on a Package and "Publish as a Web service".
Although simple PL/SQL web services are present, and appear to work in 11g, there are some significant limitations of what's there right now. Most notably, there's no way to attach policies.
At this point, I can't guarantee that we'll be able to put the menu item back in the New gallery in a patch release, but I would expect the option to be back in the next feature-bearing release.

• Xml output remove tag begin with LIST_

Hi,
I have a requirement to generate a report with XML output. This output will be used for upload informations to other application. I know names of all tags and I can't have other tags.
I have a xml file for bi publisher and work fine but group element added one more tag who begin with LIST_.
e.g.
<LIST_mygroup_name>
<mygroup_name>
</mygroup_name>
</LIST_mygroup_name>
I want to remove all tags which begin with LIST_.
Any suggestion?
Thanks
Kale.

In reports6i I can you can click on the report properties of the group to remove the list tag.
In data templates just add the property
<property name="include_rowsettag" value="false"/>Don't forget to give me the points!
