Placing an image exactly into the page size everrytime, can it be done?

hi,
I know a bit about in design however was wondering:
can I place an image exactly into the page size everrytime so it copies the exact measurements?
helen

Depends on the version of InDesign. Starting in CS3, if memory serves, you can put a frame on the master page and pre-set the fitting parameters, or assign an object style that includes the fitting options.
Anything you place into such a frame would honor the fitting options you set.

    I am using a Mac and just bought Photoshop Elements 13. I have been given a 28 page Pdf and have been asked to optimize the item to reduce the file size. Can this be done in Photoshop Elements? if so how?

    No the pages will open as separate documents in Expert Mode. You really need Acrobat or possibly you could copy and paste the contents into MS word. Then re-save as PDF.

  • Why can't I set the page size in centimeters?

    Am I missing something?
    In Preferences it allows me to use centimeters (I wish there were millimeters), but when I try to change the page size I can only use inches.

    You missed the fact that the print dialog aren't belonging to Pages but to the operating system.
    So, it's unaware of the unit setting done in the application.
    On my French system, Pages is set to use points as units for the rulers but the Print Dialog is using centimeters.
    As far as I know, you may force the system to use centimeters.
    With 10.4.11 we do that in the System Preference Pane entitled International. I forgot its new name.

  • Extract the Page Size from the Document Properties

    I have multiple drawings of various sizes and need to extract the page size from the document properties of each drawing.
    this.info object can be used to extract the title, author, subject etc of a document but there is no property shown for extracting the page size.
    Can any one please advise a way of extracting the page size from the document properties of a file?
    Any assistance will be most appreciated.
    Once the page size can be extracted I will be using a script to place a stamp with onto the drawing depending on the page size.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for your help George.
    I have used the getPageBox script as follows:
    var aRect = this.getPageBox("Crop");
    var width = aRect[2] - aRect[0];
    var height = aRect[1] - aRect[3];
    console.println("Page 1 has a width of " + width + " and a height of " + height);
    The console reports back - Page 1 has a width of 1162 and a height of 814.
    The actual drawing shows in the document properties page size as 40.988 x 28.713 cm.
    Can you please advise why the getPageBox measurement is not reporting correctly?

    Are you trying to Print to PDF or are you trying to Print a PDF file to a physical printer?

I've also tested this problem by making a new larger document size and dragging in the same render. It snaps again. I don't want to re-size from the canvas dimensions, I want to resize from the render's original dimensions.

  • Why is there a scroll bar though I set the background image to "scale to page size"?"

    Why is there a scroll bar though I set the background image to "scale to page size"?"

    The current build of iTunes may occasionally draw the scroll bar off the edge of the screen. It should be possible to resize the window to reveal the scroll bar.
    You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
    Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
    Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar.
    Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
    Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the previous search behaviour.
    You can also open the menu bar temporarily by pressing Alt.

  • Embedding the page size into a document (envelope)

    Hi all. I'm new to this forum and sort of a newbie
    In indesign I created and envelope and actually had to use custom paper size of 9.5 x 4.125 inch. Print setup in indesign is set to Envelope Com10 for paper size.
    when I create the pdf using adobe acrobat and then I look at file properties, I see that the page size is indeed 9.5 x 4.125 inch
    then in adobe reader, if I go to print, it wants to print to a letter. when I click on file printer setup, it says letter in there.
    is there a way that the printer setup can be embeded in the document. So that I don't have to change it every time I open the document.
    thanks a bunch

    I do not believe it is possible because the method to do so depends upon the OS.

  • How do I make selective screenshot images in cells the same size?

    I am putting together a spreadsheet to list the purchasing options for our company from some of the Mac mini models but have a problem with image sizes in spreadsheet cells.
    First I took screenshots of each of the price and spec panels of the self-configured options I was interested in recommending using CmdCtrl+Shift4 to save the screenshot to the clipboard. Next, I highlighted the cell into which the image was destined to go and clicked Cmd+V and the image appeared in the cell (as an image fill for background colour). I repeated this process for six different Mac minis, being careful to start and finish the crosshairs in exactly the same place for each option. Each of these images had been lifted from a separate Tab in Safari 4.0.5 and appeared to be identically sized.
    The problem is, when placed in the spreadsheet cell grid, each image was either higher or lower than the one next to it, yet all cells were the exact same size. Some images appeared to be centred in the cell, others appeared to be top aligned.
    Can anyone help me to understand why this happens, and to give a suggestion on how to avoid it in the future?
    TIA

    OK, my mistake! The images were not the same size because the specs were different for each one, meaning that the info boxes were of different heights. When I copied them again, using the coordinates to ensure the screenshots were exactly the same size this time (rather than adding on a fixed width to the outside of the boxes) the problem was solved.
    Sometimes it's the user not the tools that has the problem!
    Having said that, it would be useful if the images were not background fills, but images that you could highlight because that would show quite quickly the size of each one - and allow you to add a background colour to a column to indicate a category type.
    Thanks for your help!

    Facebook is not loading properly and all my text and images are lined up along the right side of the page. How can this get fixed to the way it use to look?
    Everyone who logs into Facebook on my Firefox has this problem however if we use Internet Explorer - facebook looks normal.

    If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause issues like you described.
    * Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

  • How can I change the page size of a pdf so i can view it on my iphone more clearly?

    How can I change the page size of a pdf so i can view it on my iphone more clearly?

    I think there may be more to this question than you say.
    If your PDF page is say, 8 x 12 inches, and you found a way to scale it to 25%, changing it to 2 x 3 inch, shrinking everything on the page to quarter size - wouldn't it look exactly the same on the iPhone? It's just going to be the same as zooming.
    Or were you hoping for something more like in Word, where changing the page size keeps everything the same size and spreads it over more pages? That isn't something you can do.

  • Hi, I am using Indesign CS6, How to set the page size in Inches.

    Hi, I am using Indesign CS6, How to set the page size in Inches.

    All fields in InDesign can be entered in any measurement system. So, if you want to make an 8"x10" document and go to File>New Document and the window looks like this:
    …you can type either 8 in or 8" into the Width field like this:
    …and when you move to the next field, it will convert the eight inches into the equivalent number in the unit of measure that it is using at the moment, like this:
    … (203.2 milimeters is the same as 8 inches). You can also enter a different measurement unit into other fields once the file is created, such as the width or height of a frame, or the position of an object in the X and Y coordinates.
    If you would rather just work in inches instead of having to type the inches mark or abbreviation, go to InDesign>Preferences>General and select the Units & Increments tab. There you will see Ruler Units for Horizontal and Vertical at the top of the window. Set them to Inches and all of the fields will display in inches. If you do that to an open document, you will change the unit of measure for that document. If you do it while no documents are open, it will change the unit of measure for any new documents you create. To change the unit of measure for existing documents, you will have to open each and make the change.

  • How to reserve the page size when exporting to MS Excel 2010

    Hello. I have a report which exports to MS Excel 2010. I applied the page size as legal in Crystal Report and would like to use the same page size in Excel
    However, MS Excel print preview says the page size is letter.
    How could I keep the same page size in Excel as I applied in Crystal Report. We have a lot of business reports and would like to avoid applying page setting manually in Excel when users print them out each time.
    Thank you.

    Hi Christine
    I am in the process of writing a doc on the different options in CR and the "No Printer" option sis one of those. Seeing this post, made me wonder as this looked like a questionable behavior. My testing does not support your observations. Now, I did a very simple test;
    Created a report, set "No Printer", set the paper size and legal orientation. Exported to XLS - any format, and the export maintained legal paper size in all instance. I did a few other variations, but I can never get the report to export anything other than Landscape.
    Can you  please let me know the version of CR you are using?
    You may also want to attach the report here with saved data (to attach rename the rpt to txt, then in the reply hit on the "Use advanced editor" link and attach.
    BTW.; I am using CR 2013.
