Placing YouTube video on a page

Well, I hope I'm not loosing my mind. Here is the thing - I want to put this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkopkUPF-M8 on my page via iWeb. Here is what I'm doing
1. Drag and drop the widget
2. Copy and paste the video link code
3. Click on Apply
4. Publish site (locally as I really don't want to place the site pages into a folder, I love it in old fashioned way - all files in root folder and so I publish pages with CyberDuck)
5. Publish the page with CyberDuck
6. Result - locally I can see the video, online - not. When I open the page source code here is what I see - for some odd reason the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkopkUPF-M8 has been transformed into http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/TkopkUPF-M8 - No Wonder browser do not want to interpret this link

I've been having the exact same problem trying to post this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Elh3yWTlcUw - on my website. I'm following the exact same steps as AriteD, and when I publish the video using CyberDuck, all I see is a gray box where the video should be. The source code is there, and it looks exactly the same as other iWeb sites I've seen that use the widget to add YouTube videos, so I have no idea what is wrong. I also tried modifying the html file directly to get rid of the extra backward slashes, and that didn't help. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. The website page is: http://www.seas.upenn.edu/~josephcw/Joe_Weinhoffer/Projects.html.

  • Error with embedded Youtube videos on website pages

On websites that have embedded Youtube videos, I no longer see a still shot of the video , nor do they have a button to allow me play them. Instead I see I message in the box where the video should be, that says "a plugin is needed to display the content". This must be related to a setting I messed up, because a few days ago I didn't have this issue. I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks

  • Save youtube videos and web pages

9650 verizon, os 6. Need to be able to save videos web pages. Zero...repeat zero...access to a real computer, so I need to find programs to download directly to my device to enable this.

As far as I know you can :
download a video file that the web server allows you to download
stream a video file from Youtube or any other RSTP server using cellular network or Wi-Fi
download an audio file that the web server allows you to download using cellular network or Wi-Fi
stream an audio file from any RSTP or shoutcast server using cellular network or Wi-Fi
upload videos or audio files from a computer using Bluetooth or USB or Wi-Fi
upload HTML files to your BlackBerry from a computer using Bluetooth or USB or Wi-Fi
    bookmark a webpage
but those are not the features you are looking for (at all).

  • Embedding youtube video on .html page

Everything I read about this says it's very simple - just copy embedding code, paste onto page, and voilà. But it isn't working for me. All I see on the (show design view) page is the code. What am I doing wrong?

It is simple if you work in code view.
Delete the code you have inserted in Design View.
Switch to Code View then paste your code where you want the video player to appear on your page.  Hint: it goes between <body> and </body> tags
    Does this help?

  • Social Widgets Insert two youtube videos on same page

    and muse dies 4evah.
Not incredibly familar with what to do about removing a page when merely having muse generate a thumbnail for it causes the designer to die a quick death.  Or even how to ask about it.  Would strongly prefer not to retreat to a back up copy if at all possible.

Well, I did see the other people who are having this same issue.
In case it is at all helpful to someone else...  If you're better off with the file you have instead of a prior version,
this is what I did in windows.
    Restart
Bring up muse and let it explode.
Bring it up again and it will ask you if you want to recover your file
    Say no.
It will be your file without all of the changes made since the last save.  In my case, that was lots better than retreating to a backup copy.

  • "Activity window" in Safari no longer works to download YouTube videos. Why not? Workaround?

For years I have used Apple's recommended standard technique whenever I wanted to download a Flash video embedded in a YouTube page to my hard drive:
    - Open a YouTube page and click on the video's "play" button to get it started;
    - Press command-option-A to then open up Safari's "Activity Window" which lists all the components of the page;
    - Find on the list the component for the loading Flash video, which is usually much larger (measured in MB rather than KB) than all the other components, and also is usually still in the process of loading, so it's easy to spot;
    - Double-click the component's name on the list in the Activity Window, and voila, the video downloads to my hard drive.
This "trick" is described everywhere as THE standard way to download YouTube videos (and similar page components); and I have used it successfully for many years.
HOWEVER, sometime very recently (not sure when, exactly -- a few weeks or months ago) YouTube has changed the way its pages are coded, so that this technique no longer works. When I open the Activity Window, instead of seeing one large loading video file that's easily identifiable, I see a whole series of large files, all exactly 1.7mb big (no matter how large the file size of the actual video in question is), and they constantly increase in number -- at first there are two such files, but over the seconds and minutes more and more appear. Furthermore, many files with no named size are constantly loading and then disappearing. And here's the whole point: I've tried double-clicking on ALL of these files, dozens of ways on dozens of YouTube pages, and none of the are the video file I seek and none of them cause the file to  download to my hard drive.
If I click on one the mysterious 1.7mb components, I indeed get a ".flv" downloaded to my hard drive, but it's not actually a Flash video; clicking on its downloaded file icon just brings up a blank box or an error message saying that it's not really a video file at all. I think it's some sort of "decoy" file or something to do with streaming Flash code.
To see what I mean, just go to YouTube, load any random video page, and then open Safari's Activity WIndow and try to download the video that way.
This happens on an iMac running Safari 5.1 on OSX 10.6.8, and also on a MacBook Pro running Safari 5.0.2  on OSX 10.6.5, and on a few other new-ish Macs I tested it out on, but failed to note their version numbers.
I'm presuming that this problem is not specific to my computer, but is caused by the way that YouTube altered the background code for their pages. I don't know if the glitch is an intentional attempt by YouTube to prevent downloads, or if it is an accidental "bug" of the new code. Either way:
How can I fix the problem? Is there some other lesser-known built-in way for Safari/Mac to download the new kind of YouTube videos? Or is there some reliable freeware or shareware or plug-in or extension or whatever for Safari that would enable YouTube downloading?
I tried a freeware program called "Evom" that was highly touted, but it too was thwarted by the new YouTube code and failed to extract any videos from the YouTube page, even though that's what the application was designed to do.
As a side note, I will say that I also have (though rarely use) FireFox for Mac, and the "Unplug" plug-in installed on it, and that ALSO "broke" recently and no longer has the capacity to recognize or download YouTube videos, even though previously it worked fine. This is why I think the issue is not specific to my set-up or computer, but is due to a change in YouTube's underlying code.)
Any help with an explanation, solution or workaround would be much appreciated (by me and by millions of others who I assume are facing the same problem!).

    Carolyn:
I just now did exactly as you recommended. Result? No change.
Even after trashing the files and restarting and everything else, the Activity Window and YouTube behave exactly as they did before.
(I had actually previously tried something very similar to your recommendation, and it didn't have any effect then either.)
In case it's helpful, here's an example of what one of the mystery components that load endlessly in the Activity Window is listed as:
    http://s.youtube.com/s?rendering=software&lact=102489&decoding=&rt=112.382&et=11 0.829&tsphab=1&st=69.939&tspne=0&tspfdt=262&nsiabblmin=62945.000&nsidf=2&tabsb=1 &ad_flags=0&h=360&nsiabblmean=72646.865&md=1&docid=zPxFu7taftE&bc=15194849&csipt =watch5ad&ad_event=3&el=detailpage&hasstoryboard=1&vid=72A5TVVpDgRoXDV3HvMeKPjLx BFdU61DC&fmt=34&cr=US&sd=BD075E8E6HH1336502192683396&vtmp=1&nsiabblmax=79054.000 &hl=en_US&ns=yt&nsivbblmax=774478.000&referrer=None&sidx=0&hbd=7790924&w=480&hbt =2.751&cid=6&sendtmp=1&sst=0&cfps=25.974025974025974&screenw=1440&mt=0.6&vq=auto &playerw=640&playerh=390&slots=sst~0;sidx~0;at~2_3&scoville=1&at=2_3&volume=100& art=1.842&mos=0&plid=AAS_iqoqfi0mjNc0&fs=0&nsivbblc=208&nsivbblmin=561638.000&bd =931267&allowed=1_1,1_3,2_1,2_3&bt=7.441&fvid=bNz97ILtwqc&screenh=900&len=127.92 &vw=480&nsivbblmean=668895.024&nsiabblc=208&vh=360&fexp=912001,914050,913539,919 306,907217,901802,906507

  • Problem embedding youtube videos

    Hi,
I'm trying to embed a youtube video into a page, but all I manage to get is a white box (see screenshot below), and no video will play.
I tried both a Web Content overlay pointing to an HTML file containing the embed code (both iframe and object versions) and inserting the embed code (again, tried both versions) using the Object --> Insert HTML.
The Web Content overlay is has both Auto Play and Allow User Interaction checked.
It's a V26 folio tested on an iPad
Any clue will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Assuming the screenshots are of the same page, the one that's taller is either taller because the minimum page height has been changed or due to some page content (that's not marked as a Footer Item) being located in the new space. This may be an empty text frame or the transparent area of a widget, text frame or other object.

  • When I try to add a comment under a YouTube video I'm not able to ... I get a redirected to another page that "flashes" open for a second then closes?

This problem just started about three days ago. Before that I was able to click in the comment box under a YouTube video and leave my comment.

What is this and how do I fix this problem? (BTW: This doesn't happen when I use another browser ... but I use Firefox exclusively and would like to continue.)

    Hi GrizzlyJoe,
This happened a few weeks ago to me. I had to clear the cache and log out then back in. Have you tried this already? [[Remove recent browsing, search and download history]]

  • Can't scroll on page after interacting with Youtube videos

After upgrading to the newest version of Firefox, I noticed issues with page scrolling and Youtube videos (both embedded and on the main Youtube site).
In the past, after watching a video, I would just click somewhere on the page that wasn't the video and would be able to scroll. Now I have to switch to a different tab and then back in order to do so.
I'm not sure if this is a quirk or if there's some setting I can change.

This can be a consequence of running the Flash player in a protected sandbox environment

  • New youtube videos detail page

Last time I generated my app I found the new detail page for youtube videos, with the WP 8.1 player.
Seems cool, but it have many many problems:
    - The layout is different from the rest of the app (small letters in title and description, icon and name of the app
leaning to top, etc) - screenshot 1
    - There is a lot of black space under the video - screenshot 1
    - The fullscreen is buggy - screenshot 2
    - New landscape view show a sidebar with all the buttons, the buttons we haven't turned on in the App Studio don't work - screenshot 3
    (Please see screenshots: http://1drv.ms/1l0HFe3)
What's up? The old player was fine! Now I won't update my app to Store just because of this. Please fix this soon.
    Waiting for your quick reply,

Edit: The new page works very well on Windows 8 but, as I said, it doens't happen in WP. Please fix in WP and answer me!

I think they had to change it because of Youtube integration, they need to respect Youtube policies.
Why did you mark this as answer, App Studio Team? This is not the answer! Of that I know.
I'm not asking for the return of the old model, I understand the Youtube policies.
I'm asking, yes, for a fix for the design bugs in the new model when showed in a WP (why did you forget WP?).
Don't try to escape from the question, please. Please answer me directly in this post.

  • Slow Youtube videos and loading web pages - Tests ...

Hello. I've been having this problem for over a week now. Whenever I try to watch a Youtube video or load a web page it is incredibly slow and most of the time they don't even load. I've phoned up customer service 4-5 times and had several online chat sessions but no one has been able to resolve my problem. It is quite strange as all the speedtests I run show that I'm getting 19-20Mb/s, but I can hardly even load a 144p Youtube video.
I will say that it is not always like this, sometimes throughout the day everything will run fine but mostly it's incredibly slow, especially the Youtube videos.
I really hope that someone here can help me solve my issue as I feel like I've tried everything.
    Thanks

  • Placing a video from URL - Youtube

Youtube converts videos to MPEG-4 H.264 format which is suppose to be supported for the placing a video from url tool in InDesign CS5.5.
Does anyone knwo why this does not work?  I nwo that it can be done by creating a flash player, but not interested in the extra work.

You cannot link directly to the video stream on YouTube - the URLs point to an HTML fragment which in turn loads an instance of their player widget, so InDesign doesn't see it as a valid rich media format.
The only legal way to play YT-hosted videos within a non-HTML document is to implement  their public API within your own Flash project, and embed the SWF as a rich media object. Joel Geraci wrote a SWF wrapper for use in PDF files which does this.
