Planning Disaster Recovery Site for SAP ERP ECC 6.0

Dear All,
I am planning for DR ( Disaster Recovery ) Site. Our current environment is
Production Site
OS        : AIX 5.3
DB        : IBM DB2      version 8.2
SAP      : SAP ERP 6.0 ECC 6
Disaster Recovery Site
OS        : AIX 6.1
DB        : IBM DB2      version 9.5
SAP      : SAP ERP 6.0 ECC 6
I have following confusion in planning the solution.
1 - If I export the data at db level from production site and import that data in DR Site ...  than DR Site will be equivalent to Production Site or not.
2 - if answer of point 1 is yes then for SAP DR ...  HADR is the best solution or there is any other better solution exist.
regards
Syed Saifuddin

Hello Syed,
If you export from the prod db and import into the disastor recover db then they will be the same provided that SAP environment is all the same. I would recommend that you update the prod side to the same db2 release and fixpack level as soon as possible though as 9.5 (or even better 9.7) has some advanced features that make administration alot easier and save much space.
HADR would be the best setup for disaster recovery in db6 environment.
Check the following documentation which should answer most of your queries.

and Windows"

Please update if questions remain unanswered.

  • Disaster Recovery server for SAP and HACMP Cluster script for SAP ECC 6.0

    Hi,
I need  document for Disaster Recovery server for SAP? I have to configure the DR Server If you have, please share this document if possible.
Have you any cluster script ( HACMP Cluster script for SAP ECC 6.0 ) ?
    Thanks & Regards,

Hello, I'm doing a "Plant ECC6 to do a test disatre / Recovery.
During the installation, I would use the same <sidadm> existing as it is in the PRD.
If I tell you to install it during the same <sidadm> it will overwrite what already exists, or do I just enter the password of existing <sidadm>?

  • Best Way to setup a disaster Recovery site for a logical standby database

I have a logical standby DB (L1DB) as a reporting db on the same machine as the primary (P1DB). We are planning on building a disaster recovery site with similar hardware and potentially have disk mirroring of atleast the redo log files.
The DR site can hold an additional physical standby (S1DB) for the primary (P1DB). I am trying to understand what would be the best way to setup the Disaster Recovery site for the L1DB logical stdby. Ideally, when the disaster happens, and I no longer have P1DB and L1DB, I should be able to switch to S1DB as the new primary. But how do I setup to have a L2DB that takes the place of L1DB and has its contents and can be setup as a logical standby of S1DB?

If you already setup one logical standby, then you know how it works, so not sure what question you are asking ?
Personally I would setup L2DB as a standby of the original primary P1DB. Having downstream standby databases complicates things, and adds additional lag between primary transaction time and L2DB apply.

  • DATEV Interface for SAP ERP/ECC

    Dear all,
hopefully someone can tell me how to export data for DATEV based on account movements. I am searching for a solution within SAP ERP/ECC. Currently I do not know if SAP delivers an interface in standard. If not: does someone has knowledge about the easiest way to do it?
For Business One it looks much easier because a special add-on exists, but this is not an option.
    Thanks in advance
    Alexander

    Hi,
there is a Datev Interface package provided by SAP. It is a SAP Partner development.
Package /SME/DEX. But I don't know how to get it.

  • Disaster Recovery site for Exchange 2013

Hi, I have to build DR site with Exchange 2013 environment and unable to see document for Exchange 2013 perspective.
In new environment will contain 10 CAS/MBS co-located servers in primary datacenter with two mailbox copies and disaster recovery site with 5 Exchange 2013 CAS/MBS co-located servers with one database copy in blocked activation mode. Any document related
to this screnario would be helpful. The required solution is when all the servers in PDC goes down then DR site would be activated at DMZ level and Server level. Can I use same IP subnet/Site for the DR site?

    Hi,
Yes, you can use the same subnet for DR site. If you use the same subnet, you need to use stretched VLAN.
Here is a related thread for your reference. (This case is for Exchange 2010, but it also applies to Exchange 2013 DAG deployment)

  • Disaster Recovery setup for SAP Portal

    Hello,
I am trying to setup a DR site for our portal system. We are using EMC Recover Point to do the SAN replication between Production and DR site. We are using MSCS cluster with one CI and DI in Production. For DR, we are planning to go with a distributed installation with one portal and database node.
Can I create the DR system using System copy assuming that the SID is going to be the same, and the host names/IP addresses are different. How can we make sure that the custom applications deployment in production is in sync with the DR site? I don't think replicating the database preserves everything as the Java system persists data in both the database and the file system, for example the Software Delivery Manager (SDM) is persisted in the file system.
So, how can I make sure that the file system is also gets replicated between production and DR site? Should I keep the DR system shutdown and bring it up for weekly sync up or it can run parallel with the production system?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Regarding the system copy, last time I did one myself (its a while ago so I'm not sure if it is still a limitation) it was not possible to have the Target SID the same as the Destination SID.
If this is not a limitiation anymore then yes you can use the system copy procedure as it also takes the SDM with it.
    Cheers,
    Benjamin

  • MaxDB disaster Recovery site setup

    Hello Experts
We are hosting SAP apllication in our datacentre. For one of our customer we need Disaster Recovery site. As planned by our maneegment we are going to have a DR centre at some other location. Our DC and DR are connected by suffcient link.
My SAP Instance is running ion MaxDB database and RHEL5. Can you please suggest me how I should look forward to set up the DR site?
Can I setup a SAP server in my DR site with same SID server will restore the initial backup from DC and then go for log mirroring?  In this case I will have to install SAP system with same SID? IP address?

There are several possibilities to approach your goal, for a start check
Note 952783 - FAQ: MaxDB high availability
It has a nice comparison of the different possibilities.

  • Procedure for Standby Database for SAP ERP 6.0

    Hello All,
We are using SAP ERP 6.0 with Oracle 10g with AIX 5.3.
We are planning to setup a standby database for our SAP ERP 6.0 production system as part of remote DR site using Oracle Data Guard.
I was under the assumption that i can first install an erp 6.0 (ABAP) system using homogeneous system copy from my erp 6.0 (ABAP) production system and then start configuring oracle dataguard.
But the System Copy Guide "System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 ABAP" has mentioned that "You cannot create standby systems with a system copy".
Please suggest the best practise or the procedure for creating standby database for SAP ERP 6.0 system. Iam not looking at the steps for creating a pure oracle 10g standby database, but with SAP instances as well.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Please refer the below mentioned link for configuring data guard.
    http://www.stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/10g/server.101/b10823/create_ps.htm
Below mentioned are the sequence of stpes, which needs to be followed for setting up data guard.
    3.1 Configuring the Primary Database
3.1.1 Enable archiving and define a local archiving destination
    3.1.2 Create a password file
3.1.3 Configuring the Oracle networking files
3.1.4 Set initialization parameters on the primary database
3.1.5 Take Offline/Online backup of the primary database
3.1.6 Create a control file for the standby database
3.1.7 Prepare initialization parameter file for the standby database and start the primary database with the changed pfile.
3.1.8 Copy all files from the primary host to the standby host
    3.2 Configuring the Standby Database
3.2.1 Configuring the Oracle networking files
3.2.2 Create a INIT parameter file for the standby database
3.2.3 Copy the standby controlfile to the appropriate location
    3.2.4 Create Oracle Password File
3.2.5 Start the physical standby database
    3.2.6 Initiate log apply services

  • Synchronizing Disaster Recovery site with the production server

    Hi All,
One of the customer is asking the following query:
"How Disaster recovery site can be synchronized with the production server and how do they switch? Will the web logic server do this for them?"
This customer is having two sites one live and one a DR (Disaster Recovery) site on different location.
    Can somebody answer my query?
    Thanks in advance.,
    Regards.,
    Naveen

    Firstly
Is your Datagaurd Physical( Redo Apply) or Logical( SQL apply)?
    Does it have Datagaurd Broker?
When Datagaurd is setup in your environment - on the primary database( live database) the Datagaurd users LGWR or/and ARCH process to collect redo data and ship this data to standby ( DR site) and the FAL process to provide client-server mechanism for shipping archived logs to standby.
On standby database, The Datagaurd users RFS process to receive redo records from primary database, the MRP process applies redo information to standby database.
If the Data Gaurd Broker is enabled, Datagaurd also used DMON process to manage and monitor both primary and standby databases as a unified configuration.
When there is any connectivity issue to the standby and when connection is re-established, the accumulated archive logs are automatically shipped and apploed to stanby, until stanby is resynchronized with the primary. This process does not require any administrative intervention.
If there is a very large Archive Gap between the primary and secondary due to some major issue. Then the unshipped archive logs need to be shipped manually from primary to standby and needs to be applied in standby to sync up with primary. For some reason there will also arise rare issues like problem with not applying of archive logs though log shipping is success. So some work arround will solve it.
Comming to planned /unplanned outages of production site.
Datagaurd has Failover and Switchover( planned ) methods, These are not automatic, but have to be explicitly initiated by the administrator( So there will be downtime but minimal). Once initiated, Datagaurd automates the processes involved.

  • Create universe based on SAP ERP (ECC 6.0)

    Hi experts,
I have a short questions which is hopefully easy to answer.
Is it recommended, if I want to create a universe based on the SAP ERP System to directly connect to the underlying database or should I use the Data Federator to connect to a universe?
I have no data warehouse and I dont want to craete one. I`m using BO Edge BI 3.1 and ECC 6.0.
First I only want to build a universe with one data source (ERP). I know that if I want to join several sources I must use Data Federator or Data Integrator.
Can anyone help me with this question?
Thanks al lot and have a nice day
    Daniel

    Hi,
As I said this is the only way to build universes on SAP ERP (ECC 6.0).
This application is currently a prototype but it is planned to deliver an official support of SAP ERP (ECC 6.0) by Data Federator in the coming weeks.
Data Federator will be used for both XI 3.1 and BI 4.x to access SAP ERP data: this access will be provided only for the XI 3.1 release, we also plan to support it in BI 4.1.
    Regards

  • EHP 6 for Sap ERP availability

    Dears ,
I'm planning to upgrade to EHP5 a lot of ECC 604 systems, but I would like to know pratically when  EHP6 should be available.
I would like to avoid to have the EHP6 in GA while I'm in the middle of the EHP5 upgrade of some system......obviously if the EHP6 is available we have to upgrade to EHP6 instead of EHP5.
Anyone know when it's going to be released ?
    Regards

    Dear Roberto,
The EhP6 for SAP ERP 6.0 is currently in Ramp-Up phase, and the completition of this Ramp-Up phase is planned for the second quarter of 2012.
Therefore, the General Availability of EhP6 could be between May and June 2012. Anyhow, this GA date is not fixed and it is subject to change depending on how the Ramp-Up phase is going.
I would recommend you to check the Product Availability Matrix (http://service.sap.com/pam); once that the release date for EhP6 is published you will be able to see it here:
[http://service.sap.com/pam|http://service.sap.com/pam|Link to the Product Availability Matrix] --> in the Search box write EhP6 and click the "Search in PAM" button
There you will find the date when the EhP6 will be released.
    Best regards,
    Manuel Suarez.

  • Catalog views for ERP E-Commerce for MySAP ERP ECC 5.0

We are implementing the R/3 version of CRM-ISA (ERP E-Commerce for MySAP ERP ECC 5.0).
We need to implement product catalog views to allow filtering based on specific attributes.
We have created a custom function module Z_ISA_READ_CATALOG_COMPLETE to replace ISA_READ_CATALOG_COMPLETE and  Z_ISA_CUSTOMER_READ_CAT_VIEWS to replace ISA_CUSTOMER_READ_CAT_VIEWS.
But when we test from ISA the FM Z_ISA_READ_CATALOG_COMPLETE does not get invoked through RFC.
There is an  SAP NOTE 998453 that we checked but it is still a pilot version.
Has anyone implemented the catalog views without the notes? Can we do the catalog views without the note? If so, how can we meke custom FM work? Please advice.
    Thanks,
    VK

    Check the following.
    1. The XCM file modification-config.xml replaces both the function modules
    2. The checkbox to use the catalog views is checked for your webshop
    3. Catalog is published to TREX and you are using TREX catalog instead of Memory catalog.
I don't think these notes work without TREX. I'd be interested in learning if anyone successfully implemented Catalog views with ECC ECO without using TREX.

  • Component Version "SAP ERP 6.0" instead of "EHP 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 /7.0"

    Hi All,
We went to ERP Enhancement Package 4 in ours SAP Systems.
We performed the upgrade (with the SAPehpi tool) in DEV and TEST, the weird part is that in DEV the System Data - Component Version shows "SAP ECC 6.0" and in TEST shows "EHP 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 /7.0".
The 2 systems have the same SP level.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks,
    Juan.

    Hi,
After EHP4 upgrade it should show ECC 6.0 only.
