Hi Guys,
In the Manual planning Layout selection, Is it possible to have a range selection as you have in BW User Entry Variable in queries??
Or have a default setting that uses the last used value in the selection field????

Hi Koffi,
it is not possible to create variable with select options in BPS like in BW. The trick from Filip is good when you want to use a range. But often the entries are not well sorted and a range is not suitable.
In some cases it may be possible to use a hierarchy and a hierachy variable as a workaround. The hierarchy can be used as a kind of "predefined select options".
In a planning session you can choose a node of the hierarchy in the BPS-variable and get all entries of this node.
This solution is not very flexible but sometimes useful.

Basically you have 2 options:
- Use the same trick as in the how to paper "How to call a BPS Web Interface with predefined variable values" (see service market place, alias BW, then BI Planning). In the BSP page you do not set a variable value but use the BPS API to execute a planning function (just call the function module API_SEMBPS_FUNCTION_EXECUTE). When using the url parameters in a similar way as in the how to paper you can call different function modules for different web applications.
- You can use the application class in the web interface builder and call the function in the "on load" method. There is a how to paper describing how such a application class can be used (Validate key figure values in manual planning - web). Note that there another event is used and thus a check AFTER input is done.
Well - the second option might be a little more elegant but I think the first one is definitely less complicated and less work...

Retreive the values from a user Input Popup before planning layout
Hi all,
The user run a planning layout and is coming the popup where he can choose :
Cost Center
Currency .
Is there any function module between executing the popup and showing the layout.
I have to create a function module to check the entries of the users.

There are multiple ways to ensure that the values entered by the users are valid. A few of them are:
1. Restrict values for users with in SEM planning area.
2. Write custom code to restrict values in dropdown list.
3. Another way of doing it is by using two sets of variables. One for input by users and the other for passing the values in the planning level. The user would enter a value, the code for passing the value to the planning level, would check the data entered and then either pop up an error message or refresh the layout with the data.
As mentioned, the approach would depend on the specfic need and the design of the planning application.

Problem adding a new field to existing BPS planning layout

I am new to BPS and planning
I have a requirement to add a new field which has values maintained as 0 and 1 to an existing planning cube.The user wants this new field in the existing planning layout where in he can enter the values for this field as 0 or 1.I have created a new field and maintained values for this field as 0 and 1.I have added this field to the existing planning area and have created variable with fixed value with range 0 to1.I have added the same in selections in existing planning level and package as well along with other existing selection conditions.
In additional functions of adhoc package they have made setting as set to all possible char combination.
In this planning area all the selections are locked in planning level and package.
Now when i execute the planning layout to enter data,my new field is grayed out,it does not allow me to enter the values.need help with this as to how can i make this field input enabled.This is an independent characteristic.

Error message when I calling planning layout in the STS
Dear
I'm trying to use Status and Tracking System with BPS ( SEM 4.0 SP10, BW 3.5 SP14 ).
But I got some error messages when I calling planning layout in the STS screen..
I designed 2 lower unit(A,B) and 1 upper unit(C) for the test. and using Bottom-up work-flow.
I did
1. Create Planning Area in the BPS0 ( also Level, Package, Layout ..)
2. Created Web Interface in the Web Interface Builder using the upper BPS Layout .
3. Customizing STS
- Create Sub Plan & Session
- Asssign Hierarchy to Sub Plan
- Determine attribute for created planning session ( Bottom-up, Auto mail )
- Define Header characteristics for planning session to contains the planning package completely.
- Determine Date, Person Responsible and Layout.
4. Send Start mail
5. Open STS Web Start Screen ( using B Unit responsible user .)
When he click "Open Planning" icon in the screen the following error messages were happened...
I've no idea for that because I didn't use any variables or offset settings.
I guess that comes from header settings for the planning session because when I deleted the header settings for the planning sessions, I could see the planning layout.
but I could not use lock processing in the STS.
Could you tell me what's happening to me?

Procedure
Correct the character string, so that it has the correct format. A correct entry on variable and offset has the following form:
<VARIABLE_NAME> [{ + | - } OFFSET]
Examples:
VAR0
VAR1+1
VAR2 - 2.
Also check whether the variable, that you want to use is available in the planning area.Hello,
this seems to be a bug. The error message should include a variable name between ''. Since there is none, the function that raises the error was not called correctly.
It's not likely that this is related to STS since STS does not use variables at all. It's probably a problem with the layout. If you can't resolve it, please open a message to SAP Support.

Dear all,
I have a scenario would like to discuss and share. I have 2 planning folders, First planning folder has the correct volume, where as the 2nd planning folder the volume will get lesser, both also using the same planning version.
when i Click the planning layout in the 2nd planning folder, i save the data in the cube( i dint do anything in the input layout,system seem got some records generated after opening the layout) thus i go back to that bw infopackage, volume got some value has been minus out.
Question:Why the sytem behave in this way?how come i dint execute any planning function there is records generated? can we stop that? if not my volume will vary from one folder to another.
Feel free to give comment or solution,
THanksCheck if in your planing folder there is any function that start automaticlly on layout open or befor save.
Also check if both layout has the same selection condition in planing package an level and if they have same logic (based on existent data or generate all possible combination).

Planning Layout crashes when another excel is open

The planning layout crashes when another excel sheet is open other than BPS layout. It gives me following type of error:
In the initialization phase of the planning function you selected, the system found settings, which could possibly lead to problems and which are not immediately obvious. For example, it could be that the current selection conditions do not match the settings of a data slice.
Have anybody encountered this type of error before? Please reply ASAP as this is very critical issue being faced by the users.We follow up this issue with SAP and we got following reply from them:
it is a general problem from Excel, to be unable to work properly in
2 or more instances in parallel. The problem was already discussed with
Microsoft - the result was that there exist no solution for that. The
problem is a restriction due to the OLE functionality from Microsoft.
More information about you can find in note 176642.
My suggestions:
- Do not use Excel if you are using TA BPS0.
- Could you change the layout from Excel to ALV-Grid?
- It is possible to use Office Web Component (OWC)?
- Create a web interface based application using OWC in BPS_WB.

Could you help me on below process please.
Iam working with BI7.0. I have real time cube (daily sales) and user need to access and update/add records accordingly.
So for this real time cube I have to create planning layout with the data. User can see that data and update/add.
I dont how to create planning layout (i heared that rsplan) how to show the data.
Also I need some help on ABAP, I need to map some fields from a table.
Actually from a flat file iam uploading data into ODS. In ODS has 3 more extra infoObjects.
Ex: Shopping mall code, tenent number and outlet number info i have to pick contract number from table with routine and pass that contact number into ODS one field. It means Contact number will not come from flat file, thats what need table and routine.
So for that I have to create one table (SE11) with all the information. and i have write routine.
I have to read flat file 2 fields( like A and B) and check the value in a table and get the value C and put into ODS one field. I have to do this with routines.
In the table have A, B and C values. Table also I have to create. so also please can u tell me some steps.
Could you please help on this. Also with process chains for this.

If you go to RSPLAN there you can go to Portal link (it must be configured properly in system)
In portal there will be wizard where you can easily go step by step and create planning functions and sequences like below:
1. You choose the appropriate InfoProvider.
2. You create one or more aggregation levels.
3. You create one or more filters.
4. You create one or more planning functions.
5. You create a planning sequence.
6. You test the planning model.

after doing this you can create a query on aggregates you have created above and then make query input ready i.e planning enabled for keyfigures you want like mentioned in below link:

then you can run query in Analyzer and save it as a work book after proper drilldown which can be used as template.

Pre-emption in planning layouts (WebInterfaces)
Very honoured colleagues and colleagues,
during the use of a planning-layout within a WebInterface the following need of us was near-carried - perhaps someone has an idea from this round regarding realization:
A planning-layout (type 'characteristic numbers in data columns') is developed dynamically by the user and filled with (actual) data. I.e. if necessary lines are produced added ('push button f. new line =rue'). The user gives here for example to attach at 10 new lines. From the Workaround it proceeds numerous user in such a way that you fill the three characteristics in the key columns ascending (for example. only if the date is registered in each line, then the manufacturer, then the product-line) before afterwards the quantity / piece data in the data columns is equipped.
Evenly this user wish themselves a Design, in which during (inadvertent) operation of the enter key (or press actualization) the lines are deleted not immediately, in which the key columns filled however still no data in the data columns were deposited.
Us came into sense that we one of the data columns (here number of vehicles), which usually anyway with 1 one fills in the moment, in which new lines are attached with 1 to reserve.
Is someone admits whether and /or how can such a logic to be established? Or does someone have an alternative idea, how automatic eliminating of these lines can be excluded?

I want to know, how to avoid, that new lines (which are added by the user) will NOT be deleted even there are only data in the key-columns and no data in the data-columns.
Within the standard-adjustments every (new) line will be deleted by press the enter-button or refresh-button if there are no data in the data-column.
So there is one idea we will default fill (preallocate) ONE data-column with "1", so it is not possible to kill the lines without delete explicit the former (default-)entry.
But I don't know how to establish such an automatic-function, with produce such default-entries only by press the button "new line"...
Maybe this idea isn't quite clever and somebody has a better idea...

ThomasAfter you have released the transport request, the objects of the request are available in the target system and the target clients. If you want to carry out a client copy within the same system, proceed as follows:
1. Log onto the system in the desired target client.
2. Start the client copy (Tools > Administration > Administration > Client Administration > Special Functions > Copy Transport Request; transaction SCC1) and enter the source client and the number of the transport request.
3. Then start importing the objects. -
Freezing Planning Layout Lead Column (Web)

We are currently developing planning layouts using the web view rather than the Excel view.
My question: Has anyone implemented the freezing of the lead column in the web view (similar to the Excel view functionality)?

have you tried using 2 layouts, one displaying only the lead column (no or hidden data column) and one displaying data columns (lead column hidden or minimized - only '.' displayed -).
I haven't tried it yet and it may not lock very nice, but you could hide columns, you do not want to see, with an separate <div> - layer or put the layouts in 2 iframes...
It was only a thought, that came up to me.
One problem would be, if the number of rows exceeds the screensize and the user wants to scroll down...
I hope I could help you to some ideas.

ERP 05 - Segment in planning layouts in Profit Center Accounting
Hello Everyone!
I have now configured the New GL and activated the integration towards CO.
We would like to be able to use the segment field in the PCA planning layouts, but so far the segment field is not available in the standard fields that can be used in the planning layouts (the function area field is available...).
In FI it is available (New GL), but since the planning integration works only CO->FI and not the opposite: if we planned in FI, the figures wouldn't be in CO!
Can anybody tell me why I don't have the segment field available for planning in PCA, and how to use it in PCA planning?

To Identify changed data in planning layout in BPS
We have a planning layout in BPS which user can change data on individual cell. We also have an EXIT function to distribute data to this layout.
User changes data on cells then executes the EXIT function to distribute data. During debugging, we see the changed entry with delta amount in the XTH_DATA table. However, there are many entries with similar characteristics; hence we cannot identify the particular changed data, i.e., the changed sales amount, in XTH_DATA of EXIT function.
Is there any configuration and/or function to show only the changes data? Any comments/hints are greatly appreciated.

When you enter for a particular characteristic and remaining characteristic if you left bank , it will store as # in layout and samething will also in cube. you can check it cube also.
for eg.

if you want to avoid this then you have to enter all characteristic values.

**URGENT** - PRODUCTION ISSUE with Planning Layout
Hi,
we've a manual planning layout that uses both macros SAPAFTERDATAPUT and SAPBEFOREDATAGET with custom code developed in these 2 macros to switch data between "SEM-BPS 1" and "New" sheet.
Layout has 11 characteristics in lead columns and around 40 keyfigures in data columns (dynamic).
Using macros, we are formatting SEM-BPS 1 sheet to display all dynamic data coumns in a single page of New sheet.
for this, our custom macro formats each row of SEM-BPS1 into 10 rows of New sheet by reducing 40 columns into 4 (columns is what matters for our users but not rows).
We tried this for 40 rows of data. (means, 40 rows 40 columns). Our Custom macro formed 400 rows and 4 columns into New Sheet and even switched data between "SEM-BPS 1" and "New" sheet as per our macro coding. here, we can execute all planning functions. fine till this point
Now, we have a problem when dealing with 100 rows. (means, 100 rows 40 columns). <b>Our custom macro had formed 1000 rows and 4 columns as expected with accurare data. </b>
at this point, When we started running any planning function or even when we just click on check button (check button runs both SAP macros, I assume), <b>system is freezing up doing nothing. each time, we had to kill the process. when we looked into CPU usage, we can see that excel.exe process is using 99% of CPU.</b>
Appreciate if any one can share experinces on this.
<b><u>Note: </b></u>
1. By disabling custom macros, we executed 100 rows 40 columns w/o any issues.
2. when executed custom macros outside of SAP for 1000 rows 4 columns, both macros took just 2 seconds to switch data between sheets.Hi there
This is the option Jeff was referring to. I see it in my own RoboHelp version 10. As we aren't seeing it in your screen capture, I'm wondering if this was an option that was added via a service release you haven't installed.
I do suppose another possibility would be that you are using RoboHelp for Word and perhaps that isn't an option with that application.

Step 1 : You are loading data for 2007 for example, do the distributions, everything is ok.
Step 2 : You are loading data for 2008, do the distributions, the data from 2007 are distributed too.
If this is the case just create a data slice gor 0fiscyear, to restrict the data to be affected by the planning functions.
Or is the Step 2 is that you are loading extra data for 2007 ?
