Planning object structure

Dear friends,
in a new APO system i want to create planning object structure. when i tried to create planning object structure i got an error saying Invalid planning object structure. its just not letting me create POS. pls guide.
Thanks

Hi Vinay,
Please check on the following
1)  Check the naming convention for the POS that you are creating, like whether it has any special characters etc.,
2)  Check whether the sap notes 1106607 & 1098568 are relevant for you

  • APO DP - product characteristic in planning object structure

I am using APO DP V5.
In my planning object structure I am using a bespoke characteristic ZPRD for product. I have navigation attributes for this characteristic, which is why I am not using the standard 9AMATNR characteristic. So, in my planning object structure, I assign ZPRD as the product chaarcteristic (via Edit > Assign prod/loc).
I have defined ZPRD as character 40, with conversion routine PRODU - so that it is consistent with 9AMATNR.
In my solution we are integrating APO DP with a SAP ECC system, where of course the product is defined as character 18.
So, my question is: does ZPRD <u>have to be character 40</u> (to be consistent with 9AMATNR), or could I defined it as character 18?
    Thanks,
    Bob Austin, Atos Origin

    HI,
You can define the product out put lengh in customizing setting of APO.
And also this setting is independent of R/3 system.Kindly refer
the following help information on this customizing setting:
'Specify Output Format of Product Number
    Dependencies
Effects on SAP R/3 systems via SAP APO Core Interface (CIF):
The settings made here are independent of the SAP R/3 system and only
influence the conversion of the internal SAP APO display to external SAP
    APO display.
As with conversion of SAP APO data, there is also a similar conversion
of the internal SAP R/3 display to external SAP R/3 display. So that the
numbers also appear immediately on the interface, it is recommended that
you use a corresponding conversion in SAP APO and in SAP R/3.
If the SAP APO is planning for several SAP R/3 systems, it may be
necessary to make the identical numbers from different SAP R/3 systems
unique in SAP APO. It is usual to use a prefix or suffix to do this. In
this case, the internal SAP R/3 display and the internal SAP APO display
are different. The conversion between the internal and external SAP APO
display thus also differs from the conversion in SAP R/3.'
    Hope this will helps you.

    Sunitha.

  • Planning object structure name 9ADPBAS is invalid

i am trying to access the DP planning book but then it pops up with this error "Planning object structure name 9ADPBAS is invalid".
can anyone tell me as to why is this happening and is there a way to resolve it.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Somnath,
We are on SCM 5.0 and face a similar issue
After the installation the standard MPOS - 9ADPBAS and the Planning Area 9ADP01 are not initialized.
This is even before the custom planning areas and MPOS is transported.
Is there an installation issue here or is it normal for this to remain inactive after the installation ?
I also read a previous note by you on a similar issue ( 9ADPBAS) that said -
Can you check what is the entry against your user name in transaction Assign User to Planning Book (/SAPAPO/SDPPLBK). Make sure that against transaction /SAPAPO/SDP94 the planning book and one of the data views of the planning book are correctly mentioned. If not add the entry and save while exiting. Next time you open Interactive Demand Planning the error should not come.++
This is assuming that the planning book / data view you are trying to access is not linked to Planning Object Strcuture 9ADPBAS "
Is there a way to rectify this while setting up the system ?
    Or
Should we go by setting up the user in the trasaction (/SAPAPO/SDPPLBK)
    Or
    Is there any other option.
    Please advice.

    Liz

  • APO DP - deactivation of a planning object structure

I am using APO DP V5.
When trying to deactivate a planning object structure, I get message /SAPAPO/TSM792, and cannot deactivate.
    Any ideas on this?
    Thanks,
    Bob Austin.

    Hi Bob
Please check whether your planning area (planning area used to POS) is
    linked to consumption group.
If Planning area is linked to consumption group, you might get such a error
    message.
You can check whether your planning area linked to consumption group or not
    in following menu.
    IMG->APO->SCP->DP->Basic Setting->Consumption->Maintain consumption group
if it is related, please cut the link and try to deactivate again

  • Characteristics in Planning object structure

    HI,
When we create any Master Planning object structure ( MPOS)we see characteristics at right side of MPOS from where we have to select the required characteristics to left side and then these characteristics would be a part of our MPOS.
My question is from where these characteristics comes from. I looked at RSA1 and it seems they comes from there but some of them comes from unassigned nodes and some from Info providers.
Could any one tell me the logic of the characterists that appears while creating MPOS.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards, Mukesh

    Hello Sujay,
    Thanks for your help.
I just want to understand the differences in characteristics that I see in RSD1 and I see in RSA1 ( assigned and un-assigned nodes both).
In RSD1 do we all characteristis that we see in RSA1.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Planning Object Structure not getting saved.

    HI,
I had deactivated the PA and then the POS. I had included a new chara and then when I try to save, it gives the following message.
Planning object structure ABCD not saved
    Message no. /SAPAPO/TSM173
I had done the same steps for other POS and it had worked correctly. but for this getting a strange error.
Can someone help me out in this....
    Thanks
    Aswath.

    Thanks Datta for the reply.
When I run the cons. check for the POS after adding the new Chara. it says " No error".
We are using the consumption groups and i am not sure if that could create any issue, these are the steps I follow.
Deleted transaction data. - BM, BR FC, FA,
changed or deleted the Consumption group.
deleted the time series for PA.
    Deactivated the POS.
After adding this new chara. its not getting saved.
But when I come out, without adding any chara. and right click,  activate & POS gets activated.
I had gone and checked the Chara consistency in the cube. there also it says no error....
    Thanks
    Aswath.

  • Master Planning Object Structure

    Hi Everybody,
Can any one please clarify my doubt as to whether the MPOS (or Master Planning Object Structure) has characteristics or key figures or both of them?

    Hi ,
MPOS only have the characteristics value not keyfigures,
The planning area only having your keyfigures values.
The value of the characteristics which is stored in planning area that's why you refencing your MPOS in planning area while creation.

  • Planning object structure name 9ASNPBAS is invalid

    Hi Friends,
We installed a new SCM5.0 but we find that the SAP Satndard POS 9ADPBAS / 9ASNPBAS etc are invalid. Is there any specific settings to activate them?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Sam

    Sam,
Looks like the standard 9A* Infoobjects are missing in the system.
You then need to activate them from business content. Some of them are used in the standard planning object structures and hence, the error message you get.
Please goto rsa1, Business Content and activate 9A* Infoobjects
from the business content or run program /SAPAPO/TS_D_OBJECTS_COPY.
These are worth trying while waiting for SAPs reply
    Thanks

  • Use of Dimensions in APO DP Planning Object Structures

In APO DP Planning Objct Structures, I know that it's possible to assign Dimensions to characteristics.
The standard help documentation suggests this is 'to improve performance'.
Can anyone give practical guidance about how to assign Dimensions to improve performance?
    Thanks,
    Bob Austin

the characterisitcs are grouped logically using the Dimensions
the use of dimensions allows data to be stored in a combination of dimension tables and fact tables
the dimention table consists of the dimension number, a primary key characteristics you assign to the dimension
the primary keys from various dimension tables link up at the fact table and to the values stored in it
so you can think of a star schema of tables with the dimension acting as the link
so when you look for a particular value the dimension table is first quesried based on which the fact table the primary key is linked to is looked up
in order to improve performance, make sure you dont assign too many characterisitics to one dimension
try to logically group the characterisitics - geography for eg can be made of state, region (not material type)
you can also try to match the dimension with the selections you will be using in the planning book,
dimension tables could grow as your characteristic values increase so SAP advices you keep an eye on it (i am not sure of how functionally you can help this but i believe basis will be able to help you with allocating space on an oversized table)
there is a document somewhere in sap marketplace that i am not able to find a link... hopefully someone will link it up here

  • Planning object structure ATP_ALL: "Error occured during activation"

    Hi,
I'm working with pl object structure ATP_ALL in the IDES (SCM 5.0) system. Problem is I get an error saying "Error occured during activation" when I try to activate it.
Reason I was trying to activate it is because I first deactivated it. The reason for that was that it did not work for product allocations in GATP. But somehow it cannot be activated again...
I have checked all objects in the pl object structure using tr code RSD1; they are all active. I have also program  /sapapo/ts_d_objects_copy to make sure that all objects are activated. Trying again I still get the same error.
    Any ideas?
    Best regards,

    Hi Raj,
    Your question is as below:
How the system knows or where i need to tell my demand from demand planning book X need to transfer
    SNP planning book - 9ASNP94
In the release transaction i.e. /SAPAPO/MC90 , we need to give the target version .
Each version is  assigned to exactly one Planning Area( though one PA may have more than one versions. Secondly at a time only one version will be active and in SNP / PPDS the Active version is always '000' which is connected to SAP ERP systems.
Therefore when , we mention the version, system know the planning area.
    Hope this helps.

  • Planning object structure ID 9ASNPBAS is invalid

    Hello,
We have just done a fresh installation of SCM 7.0 and are getting the above error with the standard SAP MPOS.
Any pointers on cause and resolution?
    Regards,
    Shivaditya Singh

    Dear Shiva,
The problem usually occurs if not all InfoObjects Can Be Read. You need to ask your BW colleagues to help to repair the InfoObject for POS 9ASNPBAS:
Repair the InfoObject: From the Data Warehousing Workbench click on the 'InfoObject' pushbutton to branch to InfoObject maintenance (or choose transaction RSD1). Choose the function Extras > Repair InfoObject. Set the processing so that the repair can be executed (default setting is test mode) and choose Execute.
Also kindly review all basis related settings required for fresh installation. I think some settings related to Data warehousing is missing.
    Best regards,

  • Base Planning Object

    Hi Everyone,
Which method do we use in which situation?
    1) Base Planning Object
    2) Cost Estimate with QTY Structure
    3) Cost Estimate without QTY Sturcture
    And check this as well...
If you plan a new product for which there is no master data in the SAP, you can perform initial planning and cost projections by creating a Base Planning Object
What exactly SAP refering 'master data' in the above sentence. That is copied from their reference book.
    Reg,
    Swapna.

    HI,
    1. Base planning object allows you to enter a quantity structure manually, so you can costs without accessing BOMs, routings etc.,  With this you can cost new products (without material master). It is like a master record (with your own name) for which can create a cost estimate. It is excel like sheet where you can enter you costs. You still refer to a Costing variant here which is not the normal cost variant, though.
    2. Cost estimate with quantity structure makes use of quantity structure (BOM, routing etc.,) maintained in SAP. Costing view of material master has reference check to costing with quantity structure.
    3. The material costing without quantity structure is designed to cost materials without accessing BOMs and/or routings. The costing results are written to price fields in the material master. If no BOMs or routings exist, you can create the quantity structure manually and valuate it with the cost estimate.
If you are essentially trying to understand the difference among these in terms of usage, I think this makes it clear.
    Hope this helps.
