Plant specific fields in the material master for product move

Hi, SAP gurus,
My scenario is we are moving a existing product in US plant to Brazil plant. What are the fields in the material master that are specific to a plant that will change. For ex MRP controller will change from plant to plant. Like that can anybody please provide me a list of fields that i need to be looking at?

Hi Anusha,
First of all, list down all your materials those you want to extend to new plant.
a) Secondly, pay attention to those fields you will find "filled" in those materials at plant level.
b) MARC comes handy for you to analyse which fields are at plant level.
Intersection of fields with values between a and b are the ones you need to work out.

Tax classification field of the material master - Mandatory

At the "Sales: sales org. 1" view of the material, there exist the tax classification field of the material master. How can I make this field mandatory?

Go to T-code OMSR
Select Field name MARA - TAKLV and click on the arroow sysmbol on the right against that line.
For Field Ref MM01 - select the radio button "Reqrd Entry".

How to include field Internal order in the material master for SD orders

Hello,
I would like to know how I can bring the field "Internal Order" to the material master, so I can create materials with assignments to internal orders.
We want to create Sales Orders where when we enter on order item with a material, the internal order is derived automatically from the material master.

I am not familiar with the field "product attributes" in relation with entering the field "internal order"...
Could you be a little more specific on how product attributes can be used to enter the internal order number in the material master?

Error Field selection in material master for Tax

While creating material master MM01 in Sales orgn tab when I am trying to save HST tax for Canada, it is disappearing. Although I have classified customer tax & material tax in IMG-Sales & distribution as 1 & 0 both.
In MM I can see HST either 0 or 1 when pressing F4
I tried Log General/Material Master/Field Selection/Maintain Filed selection for data screen
I tried 0001 group but when opened it gives various numbers for optional/required/supressed/display entry
Which number is used for TAX? I could not identified.
Can any one tell me what is transaction code for field selection group for material master for making Tax Required Field?

Hello,
Tax problem is resolved by me only.
In Tax classification IMG/Sales & Dist/Taxes/Define Tax determination Rule
HST number was 4 I made as number 1 followed by CTX1 as 2 CTX2 as 3.....so on
So it picked up HST now as this was number one. Now in MM Tax is mandatory as I put 1 & in pricing it picked up.

Query regarding fields in the material master

Hi Gurus,
We have a requirement where client wants to know the relevance of u201CBasic data textu201D and u201Cinspection textu201D tabs in material master (these appear when we click on additional data tab in material master) and also if we maintain text in these fields for a material where it will be reflected? for e.g where/in what transactions can we see these text appearing.
Please let me know the relevance of these two fields and where these can be reflected. It would be nice if you can also tell me the tables and fields for these two.

This text are maintained in tables STXH and STXL.
For fetch this texts use FM READ_TEXT with parameters:
ID = 'GRUN' - for Basic data text
ID = 'PRUE' - for inspection text
and for both texts
LANGUAGE = sy-langu
NAME = material number (with leading zeros)
OBJECT = 'MATERIAL'

Fields to be activated from Material Master for product costing.

our MM person is creating BDC for uploading master data.
we have to do product costing in second phase.
what fileds we have to activate now, from accouting & costing view???
is it necessory to activate LIFO/FIFO relevancy indicator for product costing??
will it affect to inventory valuation directly???
can we actiavte the fileds afterwords???

Do u mean which's in Costing 1 view?

Later on also u can activate.I mean during material creation itself if u ensure these checks,this will help you in taking the cost rollup smoothly.
Or else you have to correct those errors at the time of costing.

Updating the Price Determination Field in the Material Master (MBEW-MLAST)

I'm doing a material conversion into an existing SAP system and the program to load the materials didn't load a value in the price determination field (MBEW-MLAST). Normally this field is required but because the conversion BAPI doesn't do as much validation as MM01 it was possible to create the record without a value. The field is not open to input when I use MM02, and even though it appears to work, when I do MM17 mass change the field is also not updated. Finally I tried transaction CKMM - Change Material Price Determination for Material Ledger but it required an entry in the Old Price Determination field and it won't let me enter blank.
We've since corrected the program but my problem is that I've converted about 5000 materials without a value in the field meaning the FI guys can't release cost estimates which is causing a bunch of problems for the testing that we want to do in this system. We've taken about 3 weeks to do this conversion so going back and doing it again is a terrible option. Does anybody know a way to get a value into this field other than what I've mentioned above (MM02, MM17, CKMM)?

You can make an assigment between the profit center and the plant in Customizing (SPRO) in two steps (through the company code), under the following menu path:
Step 1:
Enterprise Structure
Assignment
Financial Accounting
Assign Profit Center to Company Code
Step 2:
Enterprise Structure
Assignment
Logistics - General
Assign plant to company code
So, first you assign the profit center to the company code, then you assign the plant to the company code.

Or you can use the Enhancement MGA00001 for implementing your own check in function module EXIT_SAPLMGMU_001.

Discontinuation process of the material master for archiving

Hi,
The material(ex:100) has the stocks in the Inventory.There is a PO with open quantity for the material(ex:100).In such case we can not archive the material.
So we have to do the discontinuation process.Is it right! or the discontinuation process is only for the retail industry (fashion).
Please let me know discontinuation process in detail.
Once the discontination process is done ,we can archive the material.
Note:I know the Archiving process using the Transaction SARA.I want to know only about the discontinuation process.

Did you run MRP already, so that system can transfer the remaining dependent requirements (after available for planning stock of discontinued material is set to 0) to the follow up material?

MRP TYPE for Periodic planning in the material master.

Dear gurus,
i need planned the materials in the periodic modality, are there the type MRP in the material master for create the planned file ( table MDVM) one once a month or in the specific period chose ?
Example :
I need that the material master don't create a file planned ( MD20- TABLE MDVM) for a change of the requirement situation new , but i would like that the flag in the table ( MDVM) or file of the planning MRP created when the today date is in the period specific.
31.3.2011 (or period 1.4.2011- 10-4-2011)Date for the create a file MRP and after when run MRP planned the material, for others scenary the system must not planned the material.
Are there the MRP type for my problem? Or the customizing setting?

Dani,
Not sure if MRP type or customizing can help here. And even if we are able to achieve this requirement it will be applicable at plant level.
However, try exploring option of periodic lot size (weekly, monthly, etc). This will work according to period you've set and should give you the results you are looking for.

Can you advise of the transaction that would be used to find out what plants a specific material master is used in. I would liek to make some changes that are plant specific but cannot if another plant is using the material master.

When you want to make some plant specific changes why you bother whether other plants are using that material or not. because what ever you change it's appplicable only for that specific plant and it doesnt impact the other plants?

Extending material master for different sales org/plant combination

hi ,
1 ) a material can be sold from one plant by many sales organisations. so we map this scenario in enterprise structure by the config step "assign sales org--dist channel--
plant ". (let's say sales org A and B selling from plant 1 and also sales org A selling from plant 2)
when we have defined the above config step, then why we need to have material master extended for different combination of sales org and plant as in stpe 1 ?. we can just create one material master with one plant and sales org combination and based on config as in step one, we can sell material from any sales org from a plant ?
2) we can extend material master for any combination of sales org/plant .....is it also possible to extend material master to different storage locations !

There are several reasons why you should extend the materails to different sales organizations and plants.
a. The materials are normally valuated at the plant level. So, you can have different valuations at different plants.
b. You can have different quantity stored in different plants. How do you know which plant has what quantity.
c. You can have materail not to be sold from one plant, but you can have the same materail sold from the other, how do you block it? at the plant and materail combination, you can do it.
d. For different sales organizations, you may want the cost and the price to be posted to different GL accounts. You can control it at sales org level of the materail.
e. You may just want the material to be purchased but not sold, then you may not even create a sales org view for the material. But say, in future you will like to only purchase a materail from a plant and consume it for some other purpose but not sales (which u did previously), then you can block it at sales org and dbr level.
So, these are a few reasons. But there could be many. You can have a look at the fields in the material master at sales org level and plant level and you can find it for yourself howmany parameters are there to control...

Change description of MVKE-PRAT7 field in SD material master

Dear,
Unfortunately I have issues with a translation of field PRAT7, but only in German Language.
I've did the translation via TCode CMOD - Goto-Text enhancements-Keywords-Change.
In our development and test system, the translation is shown correct. But if I check the material master in productive system, it still shows the old description in the German language. The English description is correct?
Do you have any ideas what the reason could be?

Service Level in the Material Master

Hi -
Can the service level field in the material master MRP view be used to drive additional demand independant of safety stock? Meaning, is there any way I can enter a service level and have it increase demand even if I am not using it to calculate safety stock?

I do not think this is possible. Service level is usually used for safety stock planning.
