So far I have; Changed burn speed, purchased a brand new stack of CD-R media, re-downloaded and installed itunes 6, and AND Purchased a brand new CD BURNER!!!!! I have been on the phone with itunes support for over an hour just to be cut off while on hold. I have searched and searched the internet for a clue as to what is going on but I still have HORRIBLE static on cd's that I am burning from itunes v.6. These are songs that I purchased from the itunes music store. They sound fine when played from my library but on a cd they sound awful. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
If you need me I will be under my bed pulling out my hair and crying.
Itunes v.6   Windows XP

I am having the same problem...have you been able to
fix it?
Not really....I ended up buying a new Sony burner which solved one problem but the higher number tracks have static in the playback....frustrating....but no help from anyone at Apple if that is what you are wondering. Thanks for the reply.

  • Static after burning a CD

    Lately, I have been having a problem with my iTunes program.
    I will burn a CD, it will pop out and when I put it into my car stereo (or DVD player) there will be static on it. Also some parts of songs have been like, cut out. More recently, I havn't been able to play my CDs in my PS2 (which I could do before).
    My main complaint though is the static. It just sounds bad. I have tried burning the same thing with different CDs, changing CD brands ect but NOTHING works.
    Any ideas???

    I have this problem too, it's quite recent. I find CDs are okay unless they're over about 50 minutes, after which tracks just sound horrible. I always use Sony 80 minute CD-Rs, always have, and have never had any problems before.

  • Static on burned cd's

    Here's an odd one. I download a talk show that typically has its programs divided into separate mp3's for each hour. The first hour on the disk is always fine but during the second static occurs. I've tried this on several different shows. It always happens during the second hour. My self-burned music cd's seem to be fine. Static is only on the talk files. Anyone heard of this? Thanks.

    Slowing down the burn speed fixed it.

  • Static on burned music CD

    I have tried repeatedly since purchasing the new CoreDuo to burn a CD. While the CD burns, all that plays back is static.
    Thanks

    Just in case this hasn't yet come across entirely clearly, if the downloaded tracks are from the iTMS, you can only burn them onto audio CD with iTunes--no other software will decrypt Apple's DRM. In the past, for a very short time, Toast was able to burn audio CDs from iTMS purchases, and when this functionality suddenly vanished due to an iTunes/QuickTime update, a huge number of users reported problems like yours--CDs being burned but playing back only silence or static.
    If you continue to experience problems, please provide some additional details, such as which software you're using (even if it's iTunes), the kind of computer and/or optical drive you have, whether the "downloaded" music is DRM-protected, etc.

  • Does gapless playback relate to burned CD's as well?

    Will the new gapless playback work when a playlist is burned onto a CD or is this just for iTunes play?

    I'd like to add my own experience here ... I've had relatively few problems with iTunes 7, unlike many of the posters to these groups, so I don't know how many may find this useful.
    Here's what I've learned about burning gapless CDs in iTunes 7:
    First, a bit of background: I've never bought music from iTMS - all my music is from CDs. And, my preferred audio format is MP3/320kbps (call me fussy, but I can hear the difference
    Now that I've upgraded to iTunes 7, music that I had ripped using iTunes v6 plays back "gaplessly" in iTunes 7. Burning these tracks back to CD, I get gapless audio CDs (Dark Side of the Moon as it was meant to be heard, thank you, Apple .
    Music that I had previously ripped using a LAME encoder also plays back gaplessly in iTunes 7, too, but when I burn these tracks to a CD, there's still that *&^% gap, even when I set the "gap between songs" to none.
    When I select the LAME-encoded tracks and select "Convert selection to MP3" from the "Advanced" menu (this recodes the LAME mp3s as iTunes mp3s), and burn the resulting tracks back to disc, the result is a gapless CD.
    [[If you see a "Convert selection to AAC" or other non-MP3 menu item, go to iTunes preferences, click the advanced icon, and then click "Burning". The music format you have selected here is the one that appears on the "Convert selection to ..." menu item.]]
    I have used this only with MP3s ... don't know how it would work with AACs or other formats.
    credits: I've lost track of the original article, but the idea of reconverting MP3s in iTunes came from the author of that post. Thank you, whoever you are

  • Incorrect chapter playback after DVD burn

    Hi, I'd appreciate some help with solving this issue. Thanks.
    I created a movie using iMovie 6.0.3 on my older PowerBook G4. I burned 2 DVDs using iDVD 7.0.4 and everything was perfect. A week later I wanted to burn more DVDs of the same movie using iDVD without changing anything! But when I play the movie after it was burned it starts playing from Chapter 5 (I have 10 chapters in the movie)!
    Why would it do that?
    I didn't change any settings anywhere. I checked the project in iMovie and everything looked right. I also checked the DVD Map and I think all was right there too. The burned DVD will play from the beginning only if I click on Chapter 1.
    Thank you,

    Thank you very much! Problem resolved.
    I had my movie already saved up on iDisc as a QuickTime file (with all chapters already marked). I downloaded it to my MacBook Pro then imported it to iDVD and burned from there with no problems.
    This time I wasn't getting the message "Update or Cancel" after returning to iDVD for some more burning later, where iMovie 6 on my older PowerBook G4 was giving me that message and even when pressing the "Cancel" button it would still not allow me to burn the DVD without the updates.
    Cheers,

  • Playback level after burning a cd in waveburner

    after reading a number of posts concerning lower volume levels after burning a cd in WB:
    just tested this.
    from what i can see and hear: there is no difference between the levels in the original WB file and the resulting cd.
    anyone getting a lower level is doing something wrong.

    just thought i'd lay some rumors to rest.
    plus the files look identical to the naked eye.
    and when needed, they are as loud as f*ck.

  • PROBLEMS WITH PLAYBACK ON DVDS - BURNED WITH iDVD8

    Can anyone tell me what is the best speed to use when burning a DVD. I have been using the maximum speed (which I believe my computer defaults to). When I play back on a DVD player it will freeze in certain parts. When I have finished burning the DVD I have noticed grease marks and other small marks on the disc. I have been told it is because I am burning them too fast. I have since tried using 2X and am having the same problem. I am using IDVD8 and DVD-R discs.

    It may be the brand of disc. Try Verbatim DVD-R or Verbatim DVD+R DL.

  • Strobe Media Playback + Static plugin

    I'm trying to load plugins into SMP statically instead of externally, what is the preferred method of injection? I can't find a single example.
    Thanks in advance!
    Casey

    I duplicated StrobeMediaPlayback and renamed it for my project, then I made a small edit like this:
    Find these lines inside onChromeProviderComplete:
    var pluginLoader:PluginLoader;
    factory = injector.getInstance(MediaFactory);
    After them add:
    //injecting plugins statically
    factory.addEventListener(MediaFactoryEvent.PLUGIN_LOAD, onPluginLoad);
    factory.addEventListener(MediaFactoryEvent.PLUGIN_LOAD_ERROR, onPluginLoadError);
    var youtubePluginInfoResource:PluginInfoResource = new PluginInfoResource(new YouTubePluginInfo());
    factory.loadPlugin(youtubePluginInfoResource);
    //end plugin injection
    The listeners are optional:
    protected function onPluginLoad(event:MediaFactoryEvent):void
    trace("The plug-in loaded successfully.");
    protected function onPluginLoadError(event:MediaFactoryEvent):void
    trace("The plug-in failed to load.");

  • Playback quality poor when burning files to DVD

    I am burning quicktime files to a DVD. (I want to keep them as quicktime files so the recipients of the DVD's can manipulate the files if needed.)
    After burning the file (2.81 GB) to a DVD-R (4.7 GB capacity) The playback of the burned DVD file is odd. It seems to have all the information (video and audio) But it will freeze on the first video frame while the audio keeps going. Not sure why this is happening.
    Does anyone have any ideas of how to prevent this? OR, possibly a different file format to use? I don't want the files in a an iDVD menu because then you can't extract the files and manipulate them with ease.
    If anyone can help... THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE

    I'm thinking you burned the dvd as a data dvd.
    Your mac can't keep up with a video that is burned as a data dvd. You need to copy the DVD content to your hard drive to be able to play the video with no problems.

  • 160GB Classic 50+ hours of playback

    I'm not sure what other people have been getting for music playback times on a single charge, but I wanted to burn-in a new pair of headphones, so I hooked them up to my 160GB Classic, selected a playlist and then just let the iPod run at approximately 65% volume level until the battery gave out. Then I charged the iPod and repeated the process. Both times I got over 50 hours of continuous playback. Granted I wasn't using the menus and the screen for the most part was on the screen saving time/battery display mode, but its nice to see that it got well over the estimated 40 hours of playback.

    This is taken from a FAQ covering headphone burn-in...
    "What is ‘burn in’?
    When speaking of headphones, ‘burn in’ is the term used for the settling of the design parameters of the diaphragms into their intended state. The physical process is that the diaphragms loosen up through use and eventually reach a point that could be considered final. A similar situation is breaking in a new pair of shoes.
    Why do people choose to burn in a new pair of headphones shortly after getting them?
    Fresh out of the box, a pair of headphones may not sound as good as a well used pair, as the designers have intended. Often, people want their headphones to sound the way that they are intended as soon as possible. Most people don’t want to wait for weeks or months of regular use, so the choice is to expedite burn in by getting the process over with in the first week of ownership. Others choose to listen to their headphones as they change over the burn in period.
    How do I burn in my new pair of headphones?
    You can simply play music through them continuously. Some prefer using pure tones, sine wave sweeps, pink noise, or AM/FM static for burn in. Some recommend using bass heavy music. The method of burning in a headphone does not change depending on model or manufacturer."

  • Burning 16 X DVD's on My G4

    I have a Powermac G4 that I bought back in 2001. I still have the original Superdrive (Pioneer 103). I have updated the Superdrive to the 1.9 version.
    My questions is this: Can i burn 8x-R or 16x-R DVD's in this superdirve without ruining it? I have only used 4X-R DVD's - and they are now impossible to find.
    I just wanted to know if I can use the more current products before I do something that I could truly regret.
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi, Paula!
    In my opinion all of the response you've received from our fellow members thus far have a lot of merit. You may use high speed media with a low speed burner, but the incidence of burn issues may tend to increase. Such use should not, however, harm the optical drive.
    If you seldom burn DVDs, my advice would be to go ahead and use the high speed discs. I'd test their playback/readability after burning, though. If, however, you burn a lot of DVDs, then my best advice would be to purchase and install a new, modern optical drive, such as Forrest has recommended. Installation is relatively easy (we can assist/guide you) and the speed of your burns will dramatically increase.
    If you're in the United States, you can purchase a new Pioneer DVR-112D burner here for $36 with shipping already figured in.
    If you burn a lot of DVDs, you might consider bulk-puchasing them, saving money over typical retail store prices. I use Ritek 8x and 16x discs and Taiyo Yuden 16x discs which I usually get from Supermediastore, reliably burning hundreds of these things on a NEC drive and a Pioneer drive over the course of a year. I'd find a specific type and brand of disc that works well with my burner, test the results on different machines/DVD players, and then stick with it.

  • No Pause on DVD Playback

    Hey everyone,
    First time on here. I'm having trouble trying to figure why I don't have the option to Pause during Playback when I burn a Encore Project. I checked the option and noticed it's available and included during the print process but when I click Pause, nothing happens. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or missing?

    I'm going to print a case of 50 regular DVD-R's for people and I just want them to have the option to Pause, FFWD, REW. And from the copies I printed while checking, neither of those functions worked. Maybe it's because I'm using my PS3 for playback?
    So the remote is not working as you want. Yes, PS3 can have limitations, so test your disk on a DVD player to see if it works there.

  • Burning disk Problems. Toast/Compressor

    So I'm burning a movie I made onto a DVD from a prores 422 quicktime file using toast and/or compressor and the disk is always messed up.
    When burning with compressor the disk gets stuck about halfway through playback, after the burn is complete. I can skip past this part on my DVD player using by fast forwarding.
    When burning with Toast the beginning of the movie on the disk skips frames or is pixelated for about 5 seconds. The rest of the movie plays fine and normal
    I'm using a samsung BD/DVD burner.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    This is hard because playback issues can be caused by a variety of things:including the physical media (which might be one defective disk, a batch, or just a sub-standard brand); or the DVD player; or an excessively high bit rate that the player can't easily read, or (less frequently) difficult content that the compression process had trouble encoding.
    I would start by trying another player.
    Since you did two separate burns, it's not a problem with a specific disk. But if switching players doesn't work, try a different brand – say, Verbatim, Maxell, or JVC Taiyo Uden.
    If neither of the above works, then try a lower nit rate setting - say, 7.2 Mbs max, and perhaps put in a compression marker or two at the places in your movie where the playback freezes.
    Let us know.
    Russ
    edit: Oh no…forgot to list the burner as a potential cause!

  • Tag at beginning of dvd burn... but not on the timeline

    I just made my first dvd burn of a fcpx project and when I played back the dvd... it started with the project's video tag.  Yet when I look at the timeline, it's not there.  How do I get rid of this tag being the first video to appear?

    At the beginning of the dvd... on playback of the burn... there is what looks like a (computer/fcpx?) generated graphic.  It has the projects name at the top left and about middle bottom 1/3 is a play button... It looks like something from the event library.  It's there before playing the video and it goes away as soon as I hit play with the remote.  What is it and why is it there?  How do I get rid of it?
