Playing .exe flash file without flash player

Hi,
We have a .exe flash file generated from adobe captivate. If we have flash player PC,.exe will be played. If we don't have flash player on PC,it will ask for installing latest version flash player,if we give ok and click on .exe file again it will be played.But in installed program list i dont see flash player.Where is flash player installed? And is there any way to play .exe file without showing that message if we dont have flash player?

No i dont see flash player in Add or remove programs. I don't know whether captivate .exe file have some inbuilt capacity to play itself. It is not problem. Our problem is we dont want that message for installation. Can we do installation of flash automatically and play once we click .exe file without showing any message or can we play .exe without flash?

I'll take a look at the GPL sources to see how the firmware encodes the video output, I think the mpeg encoder might be built into the firmware's Linux kernel (instead of a stand-alone encoder program), I see references to the IBM mpeg2 headers but I'm not sure. But honestly addressing this possible bug is not the first thing on my todo list, but I do fidn this report interesting enough to merit investigation.
May I ask what you are using for the Samba server (aka windows shares)? Do you use your desktop PC, or perhaps a NAS server?
As an interim thing to try, I advice you install VLC media player to view the files, or to use VLC to examine the media files properties to see what you can findout.
IF you must use Windows media player, then I suggest you look into the combine community codex package.

My flash template will not play using flash player 7 onwards only 6???

I have a flash template which plays fine when run using flash
player 6.
However when i select flash player 7 or 8 and then run the
template, none
of the menu links on the flash template work???
When i revert back to flash player 6 the menu links work
fine!!!
How do i get the flash template to play using flash player 7
or 8???
Do i have to convert the template to flash player 7 or 8?? If
so, how is this done please?
Can someone help please?

action script in flash 7 and 8 was changes slightly and not
all things
are compatible from flash 6 files.
Go to file - publish setting and under FLASH tab select
version 6 and action script 1.0
This could help. Else you have no choice but redo the
template so it is new player
compatible.

This is what I ended up doing. I put the FLVPlayback inside a movieclip and put this on the first frame:

on the frame that the video plays on I have the video and a close button (which is a movieclip) and I put the following script:

close_btn.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, seekCount);

    e.currentTarget.parent.play();
on the following frame I have this code:
close_btn.removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, seekCount);

and then on the last frame I have this:
gotoAndStop(2);
so that it doesn't reset the vidTime variable to 0.

.exe (flash player 7) doesnt' play in windows XP

Hello Forum
I have received a CD Rom with an .exe file on it. I only have an old Windows XP box (from 2001) but it doesn't play on it. Is that possible? Do I need to find a vista box? Shouldn't these flash exe files be XP compatible?
Sorry we only have Macs here so I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to Windows machines. Could anyone shed some light on this or confirm before I request another disc or purchase a vista CD ROM?
Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

I presume your talking about the Flash Installer .exe? You probably won't be able to install/upgrade to Vista/7 on a 2001 system anyway, so I would advise you to save your money. If your just trying to view an swf on XP, then your probably better off to just download Flash Player directly from Adobe:

I would also recommend updating your OS and browser to the latest version before installing Flash.

FLV files will not play in flash player

I'm an old GoLive user and I'm becoming very frustrated with
the new CS3 software. I am trying to encode a simple quicktime
movie into flash using Adobe flash encoder and then embed it into
my web page. Even when I use all the default settings in flash
encoder still nothing will play the movie even Flash Player 9. I've
posted it to my server and embedded it into my Dreamweaver page,
uploaded the new scripts and I still just get a blank white box
where the movie should play. Has anyone else come across this? I've
followed through the help menu and it appears like everything works
except it won't play.

I finally got some help from another forum and figured out
what I was doing wrong. Firstly to view the flv files on your
machine use VLC player. If they play in their entirety the way they
should there is nothing wrong with the encoding. When you embed the
flv files in dreamweaver be sure to upload the skin and upload the
flv file first and link to its remote http address and not the
local address.

Video player stops after some minutes and I have found no way to continue them.

Chrome has its own embedded Flash Player - the installed version DOESN'T affect it.
HTML5 DOESN'T use Flash (It's MP4 or webm)
Download the Flash Player uninstaller. Flash Player uninstaller
Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by clicking the following links.
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
SAVE all files.
On each workstation:
Run the uninstaller to remove both ActiveX and regular Flash Player.
Reboot and then run the installers to replace both plugins.

Need step by step for video playing in Flash Player

I'm new to Flash Player and wonder if there is are step by
step instructions someplace to help me go from a .flv file to
embedding the video in a Flash Player and then getting it to play
in a page created in Dreamweaver. I've tried everything and all I
get when uploading the files to the server is a big blank white
space.
I have a page at

it in your dreamweaver page - its actually very easy using this
method and flv files don't have to be converted to swf:

3. I'm definitely no expert on the video side but perhaps the
sound issue you are having has something to do with how the file
was encoded?

Swf published from Flash Catalyst not playing in Flash Player

Hi All,
I have 2 issues which I'm not sure may be related or not.
- I've created a project in FC but when I publish it to .swf it does not open in Flash Player. It plays in Chrome but Flash Player 10 gives a blank screen.
- I have FC 5.5 and I want to make the project scale according to the browser size. How can I do this? I have checked the Resize option but when it open in Chrome it just cuts out all that is outside the browser screen area.

I can not recall the minimum Flash Player that is required for Flash Catalyst. I suspect that your version of Flash Player is too low. Chrome auto-updates to the latest version, so that is why it works in Chrome.

Is anyone here currently using flash server 3 to play full screen H264 .mov on their flash players? Its an relatively expensive way to do it, but you can use the exceptional quality of the H264 codec with the broad usablity fuction of flash player 9. You thoughts?

Cant play any flash player content on IE 8 or Firefox

Can't play any flashplayer content, on IE 8 it tries to load but never does on Firefox it tells me to upgrade Adobe flash and when I try that, the installer gets to around 20% to 25% and then times out. I've tred all I know, please help

I'm sorry you're having problems getting Flash Player installed and running properly. Can you try the following steps?
1. Download the stand alone uninstaller
2. Close all your browser windows
3. Run the uninstaller
4. Delete the following folder, depending on your operating system type:
Windows 32bit - c:\Windows\system32\macromed
Windows 64bit - c:\windows\syswow64\macromed
5. Restart your computer
6. Download and install Flash Player located here:
Flash Player for Internet Explorer
Flash Player for other browsers

Failure to play/recognise Flash Player

hi, ok, my flash player is not playing. For example on sites
such as youtube.com when trying to play content I get a message
appear in place of the video window that say: "Hello, you either
have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash
Player. Get the latest flash player. " Yet I have installed the
latest flash player many times and it has all been installed
correctly (apparently) and I have JavaScript turned on.
What else could be stopping the flash player from playing?
