Playing music from a playlist

I'm wondering why my iphone 4 has now decided that when I'm in a playlist to play random songs. It seems like it is on shuffle but I have not picked that option. Is there any way to fix this problem? It is really starting to be annoying

I figured this out. No worries now. I did some research on here in other discussions and discovered that if you are having the same problem as me. Well, just go into your playlist pick a song to play, while it is playing just touch the album cover background and a little screen at the top will appear There are icons on both the left and right sides one for repeat and one for shuffle option well if it is orange you need to touch that icon to make it not shuffle Worked for me.....hope it helps someone

You can start the playlist playing in the iPod app and then switch into the Photos app and start your (non-music) slideshow - as you've found out you can currently only select a single track in the Photos app. Whether that will change in iOS 5 I don't know, but you could try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

How to set alarm on iPhone 5 to play music from a playlist?

I'd like to set alarm on my iPhone 5 to play music from a playlist or from a album in Music, i.e. when alarm goes off, it will play more than just one song like songs in a playlist. This setting option was present in my old iPods (iPod Classic and iPod 5th generation), but is not present in both new iPhone 5 and new iPod Touch. Or, does anyone know how to work around it? It would be nice to be woken up by one of my favorite playlists rather than having to listen to just one song over and over. Thank you. piamsakp

As far as the app goes, I don't Know, as I don't use it. Just know you need an app to do playlists.

ITunes 7.6 Bug: Does not play music from Intelligent Playlists

Since I upgraded to iTunes 7.6 I can no longer play music from my intelligent playlists. Whenever I try it will remove the song from the playlist instead of playing it.
Has anybody else experienced this and maybe found a solution?
And if not, how can I downgrade to iTunes 7.5?

... and one other thing: I had to re-activate my computer repeatedly to be able to listen to the music bought in the iTunes store. After several vain attempts it finally worked when I accessed the piece directly in my music library instead of from a playlist. However, my computer was re-activated as a new pc although it had been activiated already before the upgrade.
And as to changing the infos - in my case to Soundtrack - this works only as long as the intelligent playlist tries to actually play he song. Then the info changes back automatically to the former status - in my case the German "Filmmusik" (meaning soundtrack in German).
So it seems that this is simply a localisation (or purely German?) problem with iTunes getting mixed-up with the non-English and English definitions. I now have changed all genre infos to "Filmmusik" instead of Soundtrack, and voila, it is working. - Very strange, indeed.
Anyway, for the time being I will not mark this thread as solved as I am not sure that this is the permanent solution.

Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on and everything should copy back onto it.
Working now !!!!!

How do you play music from a playlist on an iPhone without using WiFi and iCloud?

I travel in a RV and frequently park in campgrounds that do not have WiFi. I've been told I can copy iTunes playlists (selected from my copied CDs on my Mac) onto my iPhone 5S. I can then, using a mini stereo jack go from the output on the iPhone to the aux input on my DVD player and thereby play my playlists of copied CD music on my RV sound system. All well and good except I tried my Music app on my iPhone and could not find a play function. I found the iTunes Radio but that only seemed to work with a WiFi connection. What am I missing?
As you can tell, I am not experienced with the iPhone although I've used a Mac for years. Is there a basic tutorial on how to accomplish my stated task or at least use the basic music function? I've tried to find something on the Apple website but haven't been able to find anything yet.

Those 2 playlists were a total of 498 songs. I have just been using the default rate when I load a CD and click on import into iTunes. Is there a better way? My second 2 playlists have about 330 songs plus about another 20 I'm going to load today and then stop and see about syncing them on my iPhone as well. I've gotten about half of my CDs imported. This is obviously a do-as-you-get-time task that will take quite a while. Not so much importing the CD, but listening to at least a couple bars of each song to see which I want to put on a playlist.

Cannot play music from itunes playlist

When I try to play from my itunes playlist I get the following message "The music you selected can’t be found or can’t be opened." This worked fine before I switched to Tiger (10.4.7). How do I fix this?

Do you mean you cannot get a playlist to play in iPhoto's slideshow? Or in iTunes itself?
Your question was posted in the iPhoto discussions, and if it is an iTunes issue, you may get better responses by posting in that discussion forum.
Post back here with more specific information regarding your problem if it is with iPhoto so we can be of help to you.

Front Row Crashes While Attempting to play music from a playlist

So, I launch Front Row, select iTunes, select playlists, select a playlist, the shuffle is the only option....so I select shuffle and get the message a problem has been encountered. I press any key and the program exits. All software is up to date.
I'm stumped and I'll buy a coke for anyone that can help.

How can you create a playlist with music and music video and play those from same playlist through Apple TV?

How can you create a playlist on Ipod touch with music and music video, and play those from same playlist through Apple TV? I can download, create a playlist with both music and music video, stream that through the Apple TV with no problem. The sound and the information show up on the TV, but when it gets to a music video, it only shows the information and "artwork".
I also have a video playlist - videos play fine through the Apple TV, but will not shuffle through all videos - continues to repeat the same one. I have most definitely selected shuffle in both locations - from the playlist and on the ipod video screen while video is playing.

I finally got it... had to sync the photos with the music in iMovie, arrange the voiceover in GarageBand then export to iTunes, and then I was able to put it all together in iMovie and burn in iDVD... had a few glitches along the way but finally finished : )

When you say they are displaying in your iTunes library, are you talking about the Audiobooks section of your iTunes library and not the audiobooks section indented under the iPod in the left pane of iTunes under Devices?
Is the iPod Shuffle configured to sync audiobooks or do you manually manage the iPod's contents?

When I try to burn music from my Playlist to a blank CD, the notification tells me that the list has too many minutes for the CD, even if I try to burn just one song. What's going on?

Katy, you are completely doing things in the wrong order. You can't burn songs if you can't even play them, and iTunes can't play them if it can't find them.
The exclamation point normally occurs if the song file, or one of its containing folders, has been moved, renamed or deleted. So if you encounter a track with an exclamation point, don't do anything else until you find the file. It is usually somewhere else on your hard drive, or else in the Recycle bin. Failing both of those, get it from your most recent backup.
After your restore it, make sure it can play. If it can play you can put it into a playlist. Then you can burn the playlist.

First a curiosity question. Why do you want to play through the computer? Why not use headphones?
Ok, now to your question. I have never done this before, but this intrigued me. I did some experimenting and got it to work. Here is what I did:
1) Connect Touch to computer.
2) Open iTunes.
3) Your device will show up in the left panel.
4) Click the little triangle next to your device to expand it.
5) You now have access to the different content on the Touch.
I have played stuff from Music, Movies and my playlists. Everything works the same way as if it was on your PC.

I got a new iPod Shuffle for Christmas and have put 2 playlists onto it. The 1st playlist is a running one and the 2nd playlist a general one.
Is it possible for me to play songs only from the running playlist when I am running. It currently is playing songs from both playlists?
