I have a Director Shockwave movie with a Quicktime movie

Quicktime within the Director Shockwave to play in Dreamweaver and

Difficulty Running Director (dcr) Shockwave in Dreamweaver CS4
I am running Director 11.5, Dreamweaver CS4, and the latest version of the Shockwave Player. My operating system is Vista Ultimate; Browser Explorer (latest version). Movies made in Director 11.5 (dcr) format will not play in the browser when placed in a new page created in Dreamweaver CS4. Movies made with several previous versions of Director will play. The movies created in 11.5 will play when opened with explorer or when opened from inside of Dreamweaver when right clicked (outside of a Dreamweaver page) They also play as part of the publishing sequence from inside of Director 11.5. The message I am getting when I make the attempt to play the dcr movie in a Dreamweaver page is "The page that you are trying to open contains a movie that is referenced to an incorrect version of the Shockwave Player". I have used all of these programs for several years and this is the first time I have had any trouble creating movies in Director and running same in Dreamweaver - any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks; O'Ceileachair.II found the answer to this problem in a Director white page Entitled "Director 11 and Shockwave 11 Release White Paper" It involves two lines of code which must be included in the Source Code of Dreamweaver in order for the shockwave player to be recognized in a HTML page created in Dreamweaver.

Crash browser after QuickTime in Director
We have used Director for many years but have a recent
problem with QuickTime 7 plug in. If we play a Director Shockwave
file with a QuickTime movie in it in either the FireFox or Internet
Explorer browsers, the next Shockwave file we attempt to open
crashes the browser. It doesn't matter whether we attempt to open
the same SW file or another file with or without a QuickTime movie
in it, it still crashes the browsers. We even stripped all other
Lingo out of the Director file to make sure it was QuickTime that
caused the problem. If we go back to QuickTime 6.5.2 plug in, the
problem does not appear. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.Hi Jim.
We are repurposing previously created CD-rom projects for the
web via Shockwave. I have noticed that exiting the browser tab
after playing a QT video or jumping to another link within the
Shockwave file has caused crashes.
I posted a similar question to these boards regarding
Director crashing on me when accessing a QT file within Director.
Someone suggested I turn down my graphics hardware acceleration. I
did that (turned it very far down) and I am now able to view, play,
work in Director without a problem. I am also able to view the QTs
online within my Shockwave file without the whole thing crashing on
me. I haven't done extensive testing just yet to see if it's the
total fix for me. It doesn't answer the question as to why this is
happening though. Is it only my computer? Will others have this
same issue? Is it only computers with additional multimedia
production programs? Is it fine on "general user" computers?
Upon doing some more digging I found this...
Here's a link to notes about a QT Xtra update that seems to
address our exact problem:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_19353&sliceId=2
Scroll down to where it says "Bug fixes for Director and
Shockwave version 10.1.1.016"
I'll have to ask the guy who Shocked my files if he has this
"new" Xtra. Perhaps it's our answer....

Problems putting published director files into dreamweaver
Hi, Im a recently graduated Graphic Designer and I'm on my
first job creating a website for a printing company. Anyway the
issues im having are, ive created a small interactive director
movie to go on the home page, it has the same kind of feel to the
flash on the home page of www.samsung.com. So ive published it and
put it into dreamweaver and previewed it, and it worked fine. but
when my boss tried it on his computer its not working due to the
fact he needs to download the most recent shockwave software, but
he doesnt want to do this and argues that he never downloads
software updates, and if he doesnt then its most likely his clients
wont either. I need to know if theres a way of gettin it to work
anyway. I have flash on the site and that works fine its just the
director stuff that wont. Ive tried creating it in flash but im
having problems, with the rollovers it wont do the same things
director will, and i dont know how to use the actions buttons
properly.
Any help anyone could give would be very much appreciated.
Thanks From NikkyHi Nikky,
The Shockwave plugin is required for viewing Director content
on the web. And so if
someone doesn't have it and doesn't want to download it, that
person won't be able
to view the content.
The Flash plugin is installed on a far greater amount of
computers. Recent stats
say that something like 97% (or thereabouts) of web users
have the Flash plugin
while only 50% or so have the Shockwave plugin. So, designing
with Flash is easier
in that respect.
Director Shockwave is used more for specialised purposes on
the web rather than an
all purpose site. So, if the plugin is an issue for your
project and you can
achieve the same things in Flash, then Flash should be your
tool to use. If you're
doing something that's just not possible in Flash, for
example real-time 3D, then
you'd argue that the Director is required and the price to
pay for having that type
of content is that your visitors will need to download the
plugin to view it.
Whether you're using Flash or Shockwave, it's a good idea to
warn your visitors
before they enter that page that the plugin is required and
that they may need to
install a newer version. People will be more suspicious and
hesitant to install
something that seems to be forced on them rather than offered
in softer manner.
Hope that's helpful. Good luck with your project.

I have a Quicktime VR in shockwave

you have to click on the tin to open it then click through to

It used to work now all i get is the quicktime play bar but

it seems to be a windows security issue as it worked until i
did an update
if i ftp to the page it works no problem
anybody know how to fix this ?Please compare your page with a .qtvr movie (which works for me) to this one:
http://web.mac.com/orzewalla/iWeb/Test/Movie.html
which does not work.
The original file works just fine. The odd thing is, with your site, I can look at the .js file referenced in the source, find the link to the .qtvr file named ToadsLairVR.qtvr, download it, and it plays. But if I download the .qtvr file from my site, Quicktime complains: "The file is not a movie file." It seems strange that I can break the file by round tripping the file through iWeb onto the website and back onto my desktop. The filesize remains 2.2 MB (2,292,184 bytes to be specific).
I also notice, when opening the info panel for the original and round tripped files, the original file contains movie info: Dimensions, Codecs, and Duration. This info does not exist after round tripping the file.
Is it possible the software used to generate the VR file attaches an obsolete resource fork to the file, which gets lost when uploaded to a server?
Like I stated in an adjacent thread, I used ArcSoft PanoramaMaker 3 to make the file. -
I can no longer play quicktime mov files from a canon firestore
I can no longer play quicktime mov files from a canon firestore from an HDV camera that play on other macs and play in vlc. It happened all of a sudden. Files that I could play before no longer play. It seems to be something wrong with the quicktime codec management because the files do not play in premiere and final cut pro. In FCP it says: File Error: 1 File(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown. These files work on other computers. I have four drives and it doesnt matter which file i attempt to open on each drive, these files are unreadable on this system. Please help. Possible issues might be a corrupted index, but i dont understand how that can go across four different drives.

4 SATA drivesApple kindly updated Quicktime and rendered Firestore files unplayable. I think a recent update of iTunes was the culprit.
Solutions: What I did. Wipe the system disc. Re-install Snow Leopard. Re-install FCP7. Don't update Quicktime or iTunes to anything after Jun 2011. QT v7.6.6 is the last good version. That'll get your files back.
A colleague tried a different approach. For this you need a pre-July 2011 version of the file QuickTimeComponents.component. It is in the system/library/QuickTime folder. Delete your current one and drop in an old one.
However if you're working with Final Cut X, I think you screwed until Focus and Apple work something out. My address is on my contacts page at teevideousadotcom if you need any further help. -
Upgraded to Lion and now I cannot watch QuickTime videos in Safari 5.1. Did not have this problem in Snow Leopard. QuickTime videos do play in Firefox. I cannot even play QuickTime videos on Apple's own website. Any suggestions? I'm using a Macbook Core 2 Duo.
Hi Sami,
I have partially solved my problem. I had software installed for a Twelve South BassJump (it improves the sound of your laptop speakers). When I removed that software, I was able to play videos on Apple's website in Safari. The company has beta software available from their website that is supposed to be Lion compatible but when I installed that the problem returned. But even with that software removed I still cannot watch videos on some sites such as Other World Computing.
I just got a new Macbook Pro yesterday with Lion installed from Apple and all video plays fine. So I believe there must be some compatibilty issues with some plug-in. I have Perian and Flip4Mac installed. I removed 3ivx and the problem still remains. I've read conflicting opinions as to Perian being Lion compatible.
Everything works fine in Firefox at this point so at least I have that to fall back on.
Check your system preference pane under "other" and tell me if you have any of the plug-ins I mentioned installed. Maybe we will be able to see a common culprit.
Let's keep each other posted.
Thanks,

Safari 6.0.1 will not play QuickTime Files
I am having problems with Safari 6.0.1 playing back QuickTime Files. I reset safari and cookies and it will still not play QuickTime movies. To the best of my knowledge, QuickTime is working with all other components of the computer.
Is there a way to redownload Safari or repair it...
I could not find a place on Apple's webpage to redownload it.
I am using Mac OS 10.7.5 on a MacPro (2008).
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
-MFrom your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extension tab.
If there are any installed, turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari.
There are several extensions such as DivX that can prevent QT content from streaming. -
Quicktime 7.2 will not play Quicktime Movies
Ironic isn't it.
I recently purchased Sony's Movie Studio and it required a new(er) verson of Quicktime to import QT movies. So I download 7.2 ( i had 7.01, if I remember correctly) and installed it. I can now import QT into Vegas for editing. Fine. Great.
BUT, and here is the ironic part, Quicktime will no longer play Quicktime movies! Not .mov, .mp4, nothing. Zip. Zilch. But it will play some old avi files for some reason. All I get is the audio and flashing striped colors. Until 7.2 I could load any .mov, avi, mp4 file and edit them without a problem. (I forgot to mention, I had QT Pro) I was also using Any Video Converter to convert old home movies I'd burned to dvd to the mp4 format, and Quicktime worked flawlessly to open them too. Up until this "update" I've been very happy with the performance of Quicktime.
Now, nothing but frustation and the online Support hasn't pointed to a solution. And yes, I have updated my Dell PC running XP to all the latest service packs.
Any ideas? If I delete 7.2 I could probably re-install a version of 6 Pro that always worked, but then Vegas Movie Studio won't work. Kind of a Catch-22. Thank you for any help.It has helped some who have had this problem. Try dragging the QuickTime webplugin folder to the desktop in case you need to put it back and see.

How to play quicktime .mov files on iphone
I would like to be able to play quicktime (.mov) files on my iphone4s but I get a message that my file cannot be played on this iphone.
I created the file in keynote, exported it to a quicktime movie with the manual advance option.
My goal is to be able to use iphone to connect to a projector with a iphone to vga adapter and thus project my presentations from the iphone.
But I cannot import import it using itunes to the iphone.
Wondering if there is an app that plays quick time movies or some other option.
The reason I cannot export from keynote is that it does not give the option for manual advance.
It only provides a fixed time option.
Appreciate any help
thank you

Why won't quicktime player work? I own Mac Book Pro with Retina Display and connote get the quicktime player to open or play quicktime movies?
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update. -

Firefox 4 not playing quicktime properly on OSX 10.6
When I upgraded to Firefox 4 on my iMac, OSX 10.6, it no longer played QuickTime video or audio properly. The symptoms tend to be inconsistent. Sometimes the audio would play but not the video. Sometimes the video would play but blink off and on with a white screen. Mp3 files will not play at all on some occasions and will play partially on others. When I removed Firefox 4 and reinstalled 3.5, everything worked fine again. Anyone have a suggestion?
I see that many have this problem. Does anyone have a workaround or resolution?
