23. Daudtrey - Over You
24. Kelly Clarkson - Walk Away

  • Playlist Sync Issues with new iPod Touch 8G

Hi Guys - This my first post. Just got an iPod Touch 8G for Christmas, and I'm
having some issues with Syncíng it and would appreciate some guidance.
I previously used a Sony PSP as my portable music player, and so my music
is organised into folders, with a .m3u playlist for each folder.
To get the music and the playlist onto the iPod, I tried to use the followqing procedure:
    1. Downloaded and installed iTunes
    2. Registered my iPod and signed up for the iTunes Store
    3. Added one of my folders to the iTunes Library
    4. Synchronised with my iPod (I selected Manually manage music and videos)
Checked that all the songs were downloaded successfully to the iPod, and
    play on the iPOD.
    5. Imported the .m3u playlist into iTunes(File->Library->Import Playlist).
Checked it had all items and could play the tracks from the library.
For some reason, the tracks from the folder now appear twice in the
    Library after this step.
    6. Attempted to sync the playlist to the iPOD. The playlist has 249 tracks,
but for some reason the sync operation fails with error message "Attempting
to copy to the disk 'Joseph Olajubu's iPod' failed. The disk could not be
    written to or read from".
The playlist is partially copied, with between 49 and 208 entries (depending on the sync attempt). Playing the songs from the ipod or creating the playlist directly on the iPOD works. Any idea what's going wrong here? I've tried this operation on 2 different computers with similar results. The iPOD has around 4.5G memroy free. Alternatively, is there software like Anapod available for the iPod Touch if this is an iTunes bug?
Thanks in advance for your help

  • Recently Played playlist syncing issues

    Hi Apple friends,
I've noticed some odd behaviour with my iPhone 4 since either iOS 5 or my purchase of iTunes Match (I can not recall which is accurate).
I've read a lot about playlist issues with iOS 5 but I have not heard a mention of anything similar to my situation. I usually sync the default playlists of Recently Played and Recently Added with my iPhone 4 running the latest iOS 5.0.1. I am familiar with the Recently Added bug of reversing the order of the playlist and I thin I can live pretty comfortably with that.
Recently Played however will not sync at all. iTunes says it is syncing and in fact it even names newly played files that are syncing over, but they never appear on the phone. In fact, the recently played playlist that is synced successfully at first will slowly get smaller and smaller as if it was actually keeping a count of recently played songs on my phone (which is obviously played less often) when it is supposed to be a count of recently played songs on my iMac.
Even opening up the playlist viewer of what is on my iPhone in iTunes shows the playlist as the proper size of ~200 tracks but then in reality, Music.app shows ~90 tracks at the moment. iTunes never reports an error during sync and a restore to defaults worked with the first sync but it has since gone back to this behaviour.
I had a bunch of 3G problems (Rogers, eh?) with iTunes Match, so I have long had it disabled for months now on my phone. I don't think this can be the issue, although iTunes Match did have a lot of playlist problems when I had it enabled, but many forum posts have shown me that a lot of people had those issues anyways.
I have also tried switching between USB and Wi-fi Sync with no success... Has anyone else seen a similar issue?
My Recently Played playlist uses this filter:
    1. "Last Played" is in the last "2 weeks"
    2. "Media Kind" is "Music"
    3. Match only ticked items
    4. Playlist is live updating (Could this be it?)

Delete the rule saying "Playlist is Music" and see what you get.

  • Playlist Syncing Issue

I recently set up a smart playlist in itunes which keeps track of the 100 most recently added songs to my library. So, when i chose it as a playlist to sync on my iphone it should place the same content from the smart playlist and then place it on the iphone. Well, when i went to listen to it today it had a completely different set of songs which most certainly aren't the most recently added nor are they even songs that were also being added to the iphone through other playlists and things. They are even songs that are unchecked in my library and thus shouldn't even be considered in syncing or playing.
any thoughts? is this an itunes issue or iphone issue?

    Welcome to the forums!
Well known issue -- make sure you add "and is music" to that playlist. Also, another thing that helps is to create and sync another playlist that simply has that first smart playlist as the condition (like "is playlist recent added"). One or both of those things should fix the problem.

  • "Most Recently Added" Playlist syncing issue

I add music to my iTunes library pretty slowly, so I created this smart playlist to replace the default Recently Added playlist:
    http://www.cubeupload.com/files/45a800smartplaylist.png
In iTunes, this shows me the the 90 most recent Music items I added to my library. On my iPod Touch 2nd Gen, however, it shows me a seemingly random list of songs in my library which were synced to the iPod.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Corey,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The conditions for your Smart Playlist are specific to the following:
iTunes will pick "90" items, with the parameter of *"most recently added"* - the "most recently added" condition is based of date, too my knowledge it does not encompass time though. - So, if you added more than 200 items and they all share the same date, then iTunes will choose 90 of those 200 items randomly.
Other than that, there may be a metadata error in your files which is causing this issue.
    Regards,
    Peter.

  • Playlist syncing issues

I have itunes 5.2 on my Mac OS 10.6.8.  (a note:  I've downloaded the itunes 6.3 update several times but it doesn't take).  I have an ipod touch with 5.1 on it.  My problem is that all the songs in my playlists which are created in itunes do not show up in the playlists. I have found no rhyme or reason as to why certain songs do not synch up.  I have tried many remedies which I have seen on line but none work.  I have itunes set to automatically sync all songs.  I even tried changing that to checked songs and just making sure they are checked.  That didn't work either.  I have reset the itunes cache.
One other thing I noticed which might be a clue:  I decided to delete one of the playlists from my ipod thinking it may help to get a fresh copy of it.  So, I deleted it from my Ipod.  Then I synced my ipod thinking that a fresh version of that playlist would show up on my ipod.  Unfortunately, after the sync, that same playlist deleted off itunes.
I also have a bunch of songs grayed out here and there.  No exclamation marks.
I really do not want to reformat my ipod as I'm nervous about loosing all my pocket informant data and calendar dates.  I really do not want to redo itunes as I have thousands and thousands of songs uploaded from my cds and purchased and I've read that others have gone through the hassle and it only helped immediately after reformatting but then the next time they synced it was all a mess again.
And WHY ISN'T APPLE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!
    Whats a girl to do?

1st thing I recommend is run Software Update from the Apple menu.
Restart the computer then run it again.

If they are in your playlists, how are they not in your playlists?

  • Same computer same music files reformated playlist syncing issues

i have alot of music which i have collected for along time: most of the music files that are on my ipod now exist on my newly reformated (toshiba restore to out of box state; repaired using utility through holding f8 on boot- i did this as i had BSOD error screens constantly)i copyed what i belive to be most of my files that are on my ipod and were on my old itunes libary to an external harddrive and are now on the same physial hardrive just fresh ( there will be some files missing i belive) i have playlists set up on my ipod some have many songs in a particular order the way i like it. what i want to do is order my itunes libray the same way my ipod is set up; which is the hole syncing idea.
is it posible to put the playlists which are on my ipod onto my computer and arrange the files that match into these files AUTOMATICLY- i have that many songs it would be impractical and overwhelming to do this manualy (sorry for the discriptions and puncuation this is a hard question to ask and its not my style to paragraph etc...

alternatively is it possible to add new songs and enable some type of synce system or am i stuck and forced to manual synce for the rest of my life

  • Lost playlists-sync issues

I accidently deleted some of the playlists and songs while freeing up space on my PC hard drive. If I sync my Ipod 60 to re-charge it, will the sync automatically delete those playlists and songs that are still on the Ipod but no longer on the PC? Is there any way to transfer the playlists and songs on the Ipod that are no longer on the PC back to the PC?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can use something like this...
    YamiPod
You can also manually update and delete things on
your computer, and they will stay on the iPod...
    Transfer music manually
    btabz
    Thanks
After being unsuccessful with downloaded versions of yamipod and some other file transfer downloads, I decided to see what the apple and big box stores had. Apple had nothing. I found Tune Tools for Ipod by valusoft.com for $20 at a big box. I only copied playlists from the Ipod to ITunes on the pc. It was intuitive, had drag and drop and did not crash my pc. Did the job.

    Hello surig84,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing when syncing your iPad.  I recommend reviewing the following article specifically the section titled "Authorize using the correct account name."

  • More Aperture/iPad syncing issues

Each time I create a new project or album in Aperture, I have trouble getting the images to the iPad when I sync. I sometimes need to sync several times until the images are recognized and imported to iPad. I do have the albums designated manually, rather than all, which means I have to sync and then sync again after I check the checkbox for the new album. I understand that, but sometimes I have to go back into Aperture to make sure the previews are updated. If I choose to update the previews for a project, Aperture will usually tell me that they're already up to date, but often they will not show up on the iPad, even after I check the appropriate box for the album in iTunes. Sometimes I get good results if I delete the previews and regenerate them in Aperture.
The second problem is the sort order. Even if I have "sort by filename" selected in Aperture, they do not show up in this order on the iPad--despite what the support article says about this. They appear to only show up in Date order. I've tried repeatedly resetting the sort order, but it does not change on the iPad. Sometimes I have to delete the album from the iPad, (uncheck the album in iTunes and sync again), then recheck it and sync yet another time. This does not always work, however.
It is very frustrating. The interface between Aperture and the iPad is very wonky. I often have to sync repeatedly, just to get the photos on the iPad and even then they're usually in the wrong order.
Aperture appears to have two types of previews: "previews" and "sharing previews," but "sharing previews" don't seem to appear in the documentation. I've noticed that, even when Aperture says the previews are up to date, when I exit the program, it will sometimes (but, maddeningly, not always), give the message, "updating sharing previews" before quitting. I cannot figure out how to force this, however. Sometimes opening and closing Aperture several times will cause it to do this, but I can't be sure.
iTunes seems to have its own process in which it "optimizes" images for importing to the iPad. Like Aperture's mysterious "sharing previews," "optimizing" does not show up in the iTunes documentation or help files.
This process either needs to be improved, or at least documented so users can understand how to avoid these problems.

    1. Some people have reported slow syncing with anything but the iPad's own USB cable (e.g. using a US cable from an iPhone/iPod). Try different cables
    2. More work - disable iTunes syncing completely, then re-enable a bit at a time, e.g. one movie at a time, one playlist at a time, one photo album at a time. There are periodic reports of syncing issues caused by a bit of media that's been corrupted, and this (tedious) approach allows you to identify where the problem might be.
    3. If that fails, do a clean restore back to factory settings, then progressively re-enable syncing as above.
    Hope this helps

  • New iPod Touch owner having syncing issues

I just got a new 8GB touch. Everytime I try to sync it, iTunes freezes. I have installed the OS update 3.1.2, backed up my library and uninstalled then reinstalled iTunes. I'm currently resetting the entire device. If that doesn't work, what else can I try?

This is a syncing issue with having 5 authorized computers. My computer crashd ans is in the shop. When I tried to authorize my laptop to transfer my playlists (and everything else) from my touch, the only option I found was to deauthorize all my computers. I now cannot figure out how to get my music library from my Touch into my laptop I-Tunes account. Every options seeems to indicate that the material on my touoch woul;d be erased. I want everything from my Touch to replace what is on my laptop. I am sure I am missing something obvious, but need help.

  • Myriad iTunes sync issues - song cutoffs - artwork problems - yeech!

    Hi all,
I’m running the latest version of iTunes on a (late 2013) Macbook Pro Retina laptop, and having several different flavors of syncing issues with my two devices –  a 16 gb iPhone 4S running iOS 7.1, and a 32 gb iPod Touch 3rd Gen running iOS 5.1.1.
As best I can tell, some syncing issues such as one of the ones I am experiencing (songs chopped-off when transferred and attempted to playback from the device) have existed in some way, shape or form for nearly 10 years now, so I’m not expecting any grand revelations here - but just looking for some honest advice on how to resolve in the shortest amount of time & with the least pain considering I have a fairly large music library in terms of syncing time required.  That being said, below bulleted-out are my current issues / frustrations / thoughts on where the problems may lie.   I would appreciate any advice:
Purchased iTunes songs (ripped MP3’s from CD’s that I own and tracks from other sources do not seem to have the problem…) play fine in iTunes on my laptop, but when transferred to either my iPhone or iPod, they will randomly (it’s not every track) be cutoff near the end of the song.  Sometimes the song will stop with 2 minutes remaining and go silent. Sometimes it will stop with 15 seconds remaining and go silent.  Sometimes it will stop somewhere in that time range and start the next track on the album while still displaying the info from the previous track.  The only solution I have found to this for purchased content thus far is to wipe everything out, and go back and download the tracks from the cloud.  I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 tracks that fall into this category, so my options to download directly to the device an artist at a time are kind of time-consuming and cumbersome.  Would this have something to do with the file format of purchased tracks vs. ripped ones? I have a lot of older ripped material that was imported as MP3’s or MP3’s converted to M4A’s that never seems to have this problem.  The newer purchased files are mostly ACC’s which DO have the problem.   Also would this have anything to do with the fact that my library (including most of the purchased content) was recently moved over and imported to a new Macbook from a Windows backup?  Most of my iTunes library was Windows / PC for the majority of its existence for the past decade or so; we only recently switched back to Mac.
Discrepancies between deleting material on a device vs. what iTunes recognizes when it is plugged back in:  The other day, being frustrated with the random song chopping, I deleted everything on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen by going into Settings, Options, General, and “Usage” and then “Edit” and selecting to wipe out everything in iTunes. The device appeared to do this, and I was showing 28 gb or so free out of 32 once it completed.  Great, right?  I proceeded the rest of that day to painstakingly download approx. 900 tracks from the cloud onto the device, hoping to correct the chopping issue.  It did this, and I still had roughly 10 gb free. Great, right?  Later that night when I plugged the iPod into my Macbook with the 30 pin to sync, iTunes on the laptop for some reason still recognized the songs which I thought I had deleted hours earlier and showed me multiple copies of everything.  For the ones that had been deleted, when I clicked to play them on the iPod through iTunes, I got the little gray exclamation point - ! – in a circle like when a track has moved libraries and cannot be found.  iTunes then told me my sync could not be completed due to being over capacity on the device by a ridiculous 12 gb or something like that. Huh?? I could have gone through and manually deleted the (by that point more than 1000) duplicate tracks and synced to have made room I suppose – but after accidentally hitting Autofill – iTunes threw up its hands and would not let me do anything further.  Any attempts at that point to delete either pending Autofill tracks or missing duplicate tracks just led to endless spinning on the “Preparing Update” notice on the device which led to me having to kill iTunes.  Can you say big-time frustration?  I eventually opted to restore the iPod to factory (iOS 5.1.1) settings and start over.  That device is currently at home slogging through the process of attempting to re-download 400 some songs from the cloud over wi-fi so that I can avoid the cutoff track problem.  The plan after that is to sync playlists for certain artists over top of the purchased tracks so that my ripped tracks can merge with them to round out the playlist. Do you see how this is beginning to become a marathon?
Last but not least - it seems to be just since the last few iTunes upgrades for Mac, but I’m having a huge problem suddenly with album artwork staying synced properly. After one recent manual transfer session (30 pin between the iPhone and the Macbook) roughly half of the tracks I transferred had mismatched artwork.  Doing this through the cloud (downloading tracks “Not on this iPhone” via the iTunes app) doesn’t seem to have the same problem, but of course this takes longer. Also, what is the deal with “Show All Music” in iOS 7 and playing tracks from the cloud?  This is a really cool feature that allows you to save a ton of disk space on your device, but I have found that when I do this that many tracks have mismatched artwork.  For example right now I’m listening to a Grateful Dead song that is displaying Genesis artwork.  Huh?? Artwork is less of a big deal than the track lengths being chopped off, but it’s still annoying.
iTunes revolutionized the music industry and on the whole has been fantastic.  But it seems as if lately, little irritating problems like the syncing issues are becoming more and not less prevalent, and the problem is they aren't being dealt with.  I got my first Mac in college nearly 20 years ago now, and have been generally entrhalled with Apple products ever since.  But I have to say that this kind of junk lately is more what I would expect in the vein of problems from the shoddy-PC world that seem to linger and never get fixed.  Cupertino folks - what's the deal???

You're not the only one judging by the forums!
Likewise I have been using Apples since the Apple IIe(!) and have found them great in every respect. iTunes however over the past couple of years has deteriorated to th point of being unuseable. Apple has made iTunes the hub of your digital life and so it really has to work seemlessly.
I currently have had to completely wipe and re-install my 64Gb iPhone 4s several times to get my music back on to it. I cannot het any playlists to sync which is really annoying and it generally undermines my faith in Apples software quality.
Please put whatever resources are necessary to fix this soon Apple or you will certainly start to haemorrhage customers to other platforms. After all if iTunes remains broken then what's the point of paying the extra for Apple qulaity? You may as well uplaod ebverything to Google play and be done with it!

  • What is the deal with the ios 7 and sync issues?

For as long as I can remember having ios 7, and maybe even before that, I've had NOTHING but problems syncing my phone to music.  I have been trying tirelessly to add a simple playlist that has a specific set of music that WILL NOT SYNC.  On top of this there is music that I cannot delete off my phone.  I have too much involved in my phone to do a factory reset, and I think it's silly and ridiculous to have to do this JUST to get my playlist issue/music sync issues dealt with.  If apple doesn't start addressing these software issues I will take my money elsewhere and never buy another apple device as long as this crap continues.  The new iTunes set up is garbage as well.  I miss the old iTunes from several years ago where it was so easy to just place music anywhere/everwhere and on my iPhone.

  • IPad syncing issues, please help.

I know this is a long read, I appreciate you taking the time to follow the details to help me figure out what is happening with my iPad.
As a preface, I update the firmware to all my Apple software (including iTunes) and my MacBook OS (Snow Leopard) and my iDevices the day the updates come out, so all these issues occured with the current firmware.
A few weeks ago, I was syncing my iPad earlier to my MacBook via iTunes. The backing up step was going on for about 10 minutes and it only got 1/20 across the status / progress bar. I "X'd" out of that and just synced the rest of it without the backing up step.
Then I disconnected the device and reattached it. I went back and am re-syncing. The backing up step has been going for almost an hour and its only 1/5th across the progress bar. It is moving, but noticeably. If I put my mouse pointer icon on the end of the progress made so far, then come back and look at it 10 minutes later, it has made progress. So, it is backing up, but so incredibly slowly.
Anyone experience this before? Any idea what could be the cause or fix to this?
I left it for several more hours. In fact, I started the syncing around 6 pm, and went to bed around 11. It was only 3/4 to 4/5 done backing up by that point.
I left it overnight, and in the very early morning (6 or 7 am), it had the familiar and comforting "Sync Complete" message.
Still have no idea why it took so fookin long, or it it will happen again next time.
I don't think the problem is the issue pertaining to Zinio disrupting backups, as discussed here: http://imgs.zinio.com/faq/ipad.htm#backup because I already followed those steps.
Now, two nights ago, I updated the firmware. It only took a few minutes. I didn't notice until last night, some of my old movies that I handbrake'd into iTunes were no longer on my iPad. I had to go back into the Time Machine to retrieve them.
I re-synced the iPad. It took about 10 minutes doing step 1, backing up. However, it froze at about 95% complete. I thought it was just going slow again (last time was hours!), so I went to bed. I woke up this morning and it was still frozen. I ejected the iPad from the sidebar window and stopped the sync by clicking the little black "X" in the message window.
I shut down iTunes and restarted my MacBook. I re-synced and it skipped the Step 1, Backing Up and went in to Step 2. It completed the sync moving over the movies, but no photos or music.
I re-synced immediately afterward (after disconnecting and reconnecting the device) and got a message about iTunes not being able to back up my iPad due to another syncing in process. It still synced and this time it moved about 256 photos. Not sure why- maybe I had "Sync recent 1000 events" or something checkmarked in the iTunes Sync window.
I re-synced again immediately afterward (also disconnecting and reconnecting first) and got the same message about iTunes not being able to back up my iPad. It still synced the rest of the sync process, but this time it moved about a dozen songs around. I don't know why I each time I sync it does different things and I get the error messages.
My iPad seems to be giving me issues with syncing, anyone have any idea what is going on or how to resolve it?
    Thanks!

  • Ipod 160G constant sync issues

I need help. For oh the last 7 months or so I have been having constant, chronic syncing issues with my Ipod. I used to love this thing to death, now I want to beat it to death.
At purely random times when I sync my Ipod I will get the infamous -50 error code. Which then freezes the sync process, which then wipes out my Ipod. I restore it, make a new playlist, and GUARANTEED somewhere in the first 5000 songs or so, it will hiccup during a sync, freeze the itunes, empty the freaking Ipod. Contrary to what I've read on here, it isn't always songs I've burned. It can be a podcast, a song I bought from Itunes, or one I burned from my CDs. It can happen a few days or a few weeks after I do the restore, rename, new playlist trick. I have 24000 songs and it's getting way beyond tedious trying to get to the letter E in my collection. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yay, found the source for this problem which drove me nuts. Just had to copy the songs (which caused the issues) from the iTunes folder into an other. Was quite easy, just drag'n'drop the songs into that other folder and let iTunes find them.
-> Problem solved, sync works as intended!
