Playlist within a playlist

Hi, I just got one of the video ipods and...ok, Im trying to organise the videos so that it has this sort of file structure when I transfer it to my ipod:
Videos
Music Videos
'Artist A' (as an example)
Film Clip A
Film Clip B
'Artist B'
Film Clip A
Movies
I have tried to create playlists and I can make it all work in itunes by creating new folders but I can't work out how to get the ipod to do it. Does anyone have any ideas?

It's not completely obvious but what you want is a folder. File>New Folder. Then, you put your playlists inside the folder. You can also nest folders. The 3rd gen Nano and the Classic recognize the folder structure. Older iPods don't. Also, you can't put individual tracks into a folder, only playlists.

  • A playlist within a playlist...

I have one playlist in iTunes for syncing with a Nano, and all the other playlists for a classic iPod - can anyone tell me how I can create playlists within the Nano playlist?
    Thanks!

  • How can I organize playlists within a folder?

I want to use iTunes to burn an MP3 cd containing a number of albums by one artist.
I name the Folder after the artist, and then create a few of playlists within that folder (into which I import each album.)
But if I name each playlist after the album it contains, the Folder arranges them alphabetically and, for example, "Fourth album" gets placed above "Second album." [F before S.]
And if I name each playlist numerically, it only works to the ninth playlist, eg "9." After that the folder wil place "10." BEFORE "1.!"
What characters can I use to continue my numerically named playlists in order?

    Try 001, 002, 003, etc.

  • How to get 'List' view with playlist within Music

The Music Ap is usually listed along the botton of iPad.
With in that ap we have menus across the bottom of the screen.
Within the 'Playlists' music I have thumb nail icon views only.  See below:
I would like a 'list view' - no icons.  See below
Where do I change this option?
    Thank you

Assuming I understand what you are asking, you can't. What you see is what you get. When you open a created play list however, what you get is a simple list of tracks.
You might investigate some alternate music players in the app store to see if one does what you want.

  • Rearrange Music Within a Playlist

Probably a dumb ?, but after I have added songs to a playlist, how do you change the order of the items within the playlist?

The playlist will be sorted by the column you select in iTunes. If you select the column to the left of the song titles (with the track numbers), you can drag the songs into any order you like.

  • How can i set songs within a playlist, or an entire playlist, so that they are not included when using the shuffle function on IPOD Classic? Is this possible?

    Is this possible?

You can set any song to Skip when shuffling.
In your iTunes Library, highlight the song and right-click/Get Info. On the Options tab is the Skip when shuffling box. Select that and then Sync the iPod with your Library.

Why can't I drag and drop songs within my playlist?

Are you automatically updating your iPod?
Are you talking about dragging and dropping in iTunes?

  • Add to existing playlists within iPod Classic

I know that an iPod Touch can add songs to specific playlists.
Is there a way to add songs to specific existing playlists within an iPod Classic (not an On-The-Go playlist) with out having to use iTunes on my computer?
So far I have been adding them to On-The-Go and whenever I eventually get around to syncing is when the songs finally get allocated into specific playslists.
    Gracias

    No.

That sounds like a good idea.

  • Can you shuffle within a playlist?

    Hi
I have an ipod nano (8gig) and itunes 7.x
I want to be able to shuffle songs within a playlist on my ipod. Is this possible please? If so, how?
Do I need to upgrade to itunes 8?

No response here. After some googling I've found it is possible although the apple menus are very unintuitive

  • Order Within a Playlist

I enjoy listening to history podcasts while going for walks. I line up the podcasts within the playlist from top to bottom in the order that I want to hear them. When I start the playback - the Shuffle perversely begins the playback from the bottom and sequentially plays to the top of the list. Exactly the opposite of what I want! How can I get it to start at the top of the list? I have the switch set to "play in order" but it plays in the wrong order!
    John

This is a laborious, but functional solution. Select the podcast tracks, choose get info, then under the options heading change the track type from podcast to something else being sure also to select remember playback position. Then they will be treated and sequenced like other tracks. You may add them to their own playlist.

  • Shuffle within a Playlist?

So when you set the control to shuffle, will it shuffle within the playlist selected, or just shuffle everything on the unit like the old shuffles do? As soon as someone gets one, or if an Apple moderator is monitoring this, let us know.
    Thanks

Just watched part of the +Guided Tour+ again, because I'm now curious about the answer myself now.
At the part that explains how playlist selection works, the first playlist read by VoiceOver is the current playlist. The second playlist read by VoiceOver is "all music," which I assume means everything on the shuffle and not a playlist called +all music+. Then it reads off all the other playlists.
So the answer seems to be YES, to you original question. You can shuffle within any one playlist or shuffle with all of the music on the shuffle.

  • Shuffling within a playlist

Can you shuffle a single playlist within a group of playlists on the nano? For example, I have three unique playlists and I would like to have one shuffled while I listen to it without having the other two playlists shuffled in.

    Todd,
If you go to SETTINGS > SHUFFLE and set it to SONGS, any playlist, album, whatever you play afterwards will play as shuffled. Is that what you're asking?

  • Choosing artists within a playlist.

    greetings,
Is there any way to choose a playlist, and then be able to choose an artist within that playlist, and then choose the song? I have a 60 gig ipod, and my playlists are unruly.
I made smart playlists titled A-C, D-F, etc... so I could get to the artist I want easier. Though my playlists sort the songs by artist, it still takes lots of scrolling to get past a few hundred Beatles songs to get to Bjork, for example. Less scrolling would be fantastic since I listen to my ipod in the car. I would love to be able to choose a playlist, and then choose an artist within that playlist.
Is there any way to do this or to contact someone at Apple to recommend this feature be added? It seems like an option that could be added to the smart playlist feature.
    regards,
    -T.

but also be able to get to artists in the middle of the alphabet, such as Mogwai, without so much scrolling.
The more you spin, the faster the list goes by.
Shouldn't take more than 10 spins to get top to bottom of any list.
Make sure you have the latest update on your iPod.
    "Scrolling Quickly Through Long Lists
If you have more than 100 songs, videos, or other items, you can scroll quickly through a long list by moving your thumb quickly on the Click Wheel.
    To scroll quickly:
1 Move your thumb quickly on the Click Wheel, to display a letter of the alphabet on the screen.
2 Use the Click Wheel to navigate the alphabet until you find the first letter of the item you're looking for.
This takes you to the first item in the list beginning with that letter. Items beginning with a symbol or number appear before the letter “A.”
3 Lift your thumb momentarily (or stop moving your thumb for about one second) to return to normal scrolling.
4 Use the Click Wheel to finish navigating to the item you want."

  • Can't move songs within my playlists

Tried to move songs within my playlists, but menu button is not working. I just bought the phone 2 weeks ago, never dropped it and the botton works fine in other apps. I took out the battery, but it still doesnt work.

I experienced the same problem with the menu button not working when trying to remove a song from a playlist.  I did come up with a work around though.  Remove the song from your phone, then proceed to delete the song from the playlist.  Note: the menu button will work when trying to remove songs from a playlist which have been deleted from your phone.  Then, if you still want that song on your phone, but not in the playlist, add the song back onto your phone.

I should be able to drag songs up and down - and I can in other lists - but not on a new one I just created. ??

Brandcast, I'd suggest you post in a new topic. Although your question is the same, apparently the answer isn't. Any topic that was originally started over 2 months ago may relate to a different version of iTunes (neither you nor the original poster say which version you use) and who knows what may happen between versions.
