Please help !!! iPod malfunction, very frustrated

I got the black 30g vid iPod and everythime i connect it to the cp, its has no reaction:
-the do not disconnect screen does not come up
-it wont charge and the battery is dead
-not in iTunes
-no update
The main reason is that when i plug it in the cp it says
"one of the usb devices has malfunctioned, and is not recognized by windows, please click the messa..."
and then it stops charging from there.
I can only see it in device manager as a unknown device
it is not recognized when i go to the iPod updater or iTunes. So that wont help
i tried updateing to everything from iTunes and so on, no solution, and apple makes it to confusing for me to find a solution,
anyome else have this problem or have an idea of what to do? Please help
Or do i have to return my iPod back and if so how do i do it?

make sure all of your windows
make sure you have the latest version of the iPod software

try restoring the iPod

if that doesnt work.. try multiple usb ports... a different cable... and possibly even a different computer to determine whether the problem is within the computer or the ipod itself....

    Try different ports on the computer (especially those on the back of the machine) and see if the error persists.

  • Please help...Very frustrating issue with ipods (shuffle and nano)

    I'm not the most computer literate person around, so maybe someone here can help.
    I have an IPod Shuffle, my daughter has an Ipod Nano. We seem to be sharing an itunes account, although there's separate links to my Ipod and hers.
    The problem is, I can't seem to find my songs. The board comes up blank. When I downloaded one of the songs again, it said it was still there, but I never did find it, or any of the others.
    My daughter's songs are all there, and her list is growing bigger with her songs, which is fine.
    She says she's not deleting my songs, and I believe her.
    I tried to re-install the IPod Shuffle CD/program, but my computer's not having any of that.
    Any ideas/tips/suggestions on how I can get my songs back, or at least create a separate account on the same computer?

    i am new to ipods. i am trying to sync my ipod to computer and transfer music. itunes website states to look on left side of screen under devices. there is no column of left side labeled as devices at all. what should i do? i just want my music i already paid for and downloaded to be on my computer.

    First, you have to down load and install iTunes.
    When iTunes is installed you can connect your device to your computer and iTunes will automatically launch.
    When iTunes launches, the left hand column starts with Library.
    Under Library you will find Store.
    Under Store you will find Devices.

  • Please Help!! Very Frustrated with IOS 7 Issues

    First of all I couldnt sign in to imessage after updating to ios 7.  Error said "check your network connection and try again".  Course my network connection was fine and I signed in with my appleid to everything else required such as icloud just fine.  Then in troubleshooting I saw that I had to have location services enabled and Date and Time set to automatically.  So I enabled location services and Date and Time is stuck with the spinning wheel "spinning".  Imessage wont let me sign in correctly until I get this Date and Time to set automatically.  Its been spinning for the last 30 minutes so obviously it is not going to work.
    I have gone as far as to Erase all Content and that still did not fix the issue.  I chose restore from the backup I had.  Next step would be to reset and select set up as new but darn that would take a long time.  Can anybody suggest anything else that I could do.  Probably not but I am on the verge of trashing this Ipad 4 and going back to my ipad 2 which I have not updated yet and works fine.

    iMessage, Facetime and the iPad app store have all had issues lately
    No idea if it's iOS7 related or if it's something on Apple's end, or it could just be too much bandwidth still being used to update devices and it's affecting other services.

    Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves that error.

I’ve tried the usual recommended steps: deselecting calendar and contacts in the iCloud control panel and then re-selecting, signing out of the panel and back in, and repairing the Outlook installation in control panel.  I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).

    You are right, Adobe does not support CS5 because it is no longer sold.
    Simply download the trial version of CS5 from this Adobe web site and input your serial number.

    See if any of the following fix it.
    Try logging out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and tap 'Sign Out' on the popup and then log back in.
    If that doesn't fix it then try closing the iTunes store app via the phone's multitasking bar and see if it works properly when you open the app : double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag iTunes from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and the click the home button to close the taskbar.
    A third thing to try is a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

    Did you get any error messages?  What happens when you try to restore from backup? Error messages?
    If music, the apps themselves and some other items were not in yur iTunes library when you did the update they will not be on the iPod after the update.  This is because the apps themselves (app data is in the backup), music and some other items are not part of the backup and are synced to he iPod during a latter stage of the update.

  • Please help. ipod will not show up and i have tried everything

    i got my ipod two days ago. ipod nano 4gb.
    when i plug it into my computer it comes up with 'do not disconnect' and occasionally a small circle icon in the top left-hand corner. the computer recognises that there is a 'mass storage device' connected, but the ipod doesnt appear in itunes or my computer.
    when i unplug the ipod it displays the apple symbol and then goes to the language selection menu. after i disconnect it i also get a message saying that the file could not be saved to the drive because it was interrupeted or something like that and i should try storing it somewhere else.
    so thinking that maybe this was it being updated, i let it plugged in all day while i was at school because surely that would be plenty of time for anything to load onto it. But when i got home today it did the same thing.
    I have two computers and the same thing happens on both.
    I have tried it using my sisters usb cable, still nothing works.
    Any ideas? Oh on one of my computers it doesnt let me uninstall itunes as well.
    And when I try to open the updater to restore the ipod it freezes the application and i have to do controlaltdelete and close it.
    I am SO angry about it right now.
    Since i only bought it a few days ago do you think i could get a repleacement from the store where i got it or will i have to go all the way through apple.
    I havnt been able to use it once and it is making me very frustrated, please help me if you have any ideas.

    OK since you using 2 computers, we will first focus on the one that will not uninstall iTunes, afterwareds we will get the ipod working on one PC first.
    On the PC that will not uninstall iTUnes, goto control panel>add and remove and try if you can to uninstall iTUnes AND quicktime. Then go here and roll down to "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
    Once done disable any antivirus or security programs, then goto apple.com to download and install the latest iTUnes.
    Also on BOTH pcs make sure you have "ipod updater 06-28-2006" you can download and install it here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
    Once iTunes is properly installed on this PC, you need to only connect your nano to the main PC you use for now so we can get it working, then we'll focus on the other PC if needed

    I'm new here because I have a bit of a problem. Please forgive me for my lack of general computer/Ipod knowledge...
    I purchased my MacBook about 4 1/2 years ago. I'm not sure exactly what model I have, but the age should help you determine that.
    I also purchased my Ipod about 5 years ago. I think it's the first "video" Ipod that came out. It's 40 Gig, white, and pretty basic.
    I've taken exquisite care of my Ipod because I'm just interested in putting my new CD's on it, and taking it with me in the car so I don't have to lug around 40 CD's all the time.
    Anyway, for the last 2 years or so, my process of putting new music on my IPod was as follows:
    1. Open Itunes
    2. Import CD
    3. Hook Ipod up to the USB port (my Ipod is not synched)
    4. Click and highlight the new CD and drag it to my Ipod
    5. After updating, disconnect my Ipod
    6. Delete CD off of Itunes libary
    This has gone off without a hitch for quite some time.
    The other day, I went through this exact process, as I've purchased a new CD, but I had an issue.
    After I plugged my Ipod in, Itunes recognized it, as usual. But, on the Ipod screen, it continued to flash "do not disconnect." After a half hour of waiting, it didn't go away. I tried to drag the new songs to my Ipod like usual, and then disconnect, but to no avail.
    In the past, when I hooked up my Ipod, after about 20 seconds, the "Do Not Disconnect" screen would disappear, and take me to my main menu (on the Ipod).
    Now, that screen doesn't turn off, and I can't get new songs onto the device.
    Please help...I'm not very good with any of this, and would very much like to hear my new music.

    hold the menu and middle buttons down together until the screen on the ipod goes blank. that restarts it then try your normal process again
