PLEASE HELP! My iPod is stuck on a black screen but everytime I restore it through iTunes the screen comes back for a short period of time!

I own an iPod Touch 4g 8gb. Ever since Wednesday August 12th 2012, the screen has had a problem -- it is black. Pitch black. I can tell that it still works -- by sliding my finger down to unlock it I can still hear the lock sounds. My online research told me to reset it and put it in DFU Mode -- but that didn't work. So I connect it to iTunes and restore it to iTunes and after the restoration, the screen comes back -- for a few miniutes. I did this twice and the second time was longer than the first. I have not adjusted any settings that could have anything to do with this.
So... What to do here? Can someone explain exactly what the problem and it's recovery-processes are?

I'm not a fan of DFU mode because I've never seen it recommended by Apple.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

    Well my itunes doesnt even read my nano. Right now all I want to do is just restore it but...it keeps saying "Firmware update failure. Disk write error." So how do i restore my ipod if i keep getting this error?
    Oh yeah, the reason my nano is in disk mode is cause my pc restarted while i was uploading music into it.

  • Please Help My iPod is stuck

    I connected my iPod nano to my macbook, iTunes was open. The spinning wheel spun for a minute or so, then a widow appeared saying that I ejected my iPod incorrectly. The iPod never appeared in the source list. I tried resetting the iPod. I unplugged from computer and tried resetting, nothing. I plugged it back in to the computer and looked for it in Finder, it's not there. I still have it plugged into my computer and it still says Connected, but it isn't recognized by iTunes or my Macbook. I would greatly appreciate any help.

    It actually fixed itself. I unhooked the iPod from the computer, and it was still stuck on and said that it was Connected. I had to go out for a few hours. When I returned home the iPod screen was blank, I tried to turn it on. A yellow triangle with a white exclamation point appeared on the screen- and it said to connect to power. I plugged it in, a few seconds later my iPod was back. I checked to see if my playlists were still there, they were. I also picked a random song to listen to, it played. Maybe someone out there will experience something similar, I'd tell you to let the battery charge drain and then plug it in to a power source. Hopefully it will work for someone else.

  • Good afternoon. since installing 8beta the icon for download helper disappeared from the toolbar. a previous helper had me turn off other plugins and restartr, but i lost here and still have the same problem. thanks for your assistance.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer                            
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    ok. so i tried to turn on my ipod touch and when i pressed the button on the top and the little square one on the bottom it didnt work. it was just a black screen. i tried holding down each button (seperatly and together) but it still didnt work. so i thought maybe plugging my ipod into itunes would work. but when i plugged it into itunes the ipod didnt even come up in the side bar thing, like it usually does. and the screen was still black.

    try putting your ipod touch into dfu mode by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 10 seconds, then let go of the sleep/wake button (make sure it is connected to your computer) and continue to hold the home button for 10 to 15 seconds or until itunes reads it as an ipod touch in recovery mode that needs to be restored, if you need more help on this just go to youtube and type in dfu mode in the search field

Then was prompted to go back to OS X Utilities menu and select reinstall OS X Lion but it says it needs 2gbs data after trying to reinstall.
