Please help...syncing? Streaming?
Hi Gang,
My ATV is acting kinda weird after the 2.0 update. Everything was fine with the original firmware. Here is my situation:
I only have an Airport Snow. Because it takes so long to sync movies, etc., I was hooking the ATV to my laptop via Ethernet cable. Sync was fast! So...now 2.0 firmare....
When I plug in the Ethernet cable, it appears to stream instead of sync because when I shut off the computer, all of my ATV content vanishes.
The only way I can get it to sync is via my slow Airport connection.
So my question is:
How can I get my laptop to sync ATV via Ethernet?

Factory restore to the previous version on your AppleTV it will work fine after that.
I have tried several installs of version 2 after factory resets, and no matter what combination of things done (i.e clean install with no synced library on ATV hard drive, upgraded with a synced library on ATV hard drive) same results.
I have restored to Version 1.1 and my AppleTV works fine. AppleCare are investigating for me (woo - hoo I'll hold my breath and see how purple I go before they get back to me with a solution - the last time AppleCare said they were investigating it took 8 months to get a reply - quality customer support - why do I keep buying their products? Unreliable, lousy back up service, awful phone support (when you get bumped to the call centre in India - oh joy of joys there) add to that unreliable software updates.
If I wanted this experience as an end user, I would have stuck with Microsoft

Hi so my problem here is really difficult to resolve. I got a brand new iPhone 5, and my computers usb ports are BOTH broken so i was hoping to sync my music within wifi sync, cuz i heard that works really well, but then i heard i need to plug it in in order to start wi-fi sync so im kind of stuck here, what should i do to make itunes recognize my brand new iphone wirelessly.... PLEASE HELP ME FIND A LOGICAL SOLUTION.
Ahh the plot thickens You wont get a usb card for the mbp im afraid.
The best bet would be to have the Mac fixed if you want to use the itunes on this computer.
Only other way it to set up on another computer but this will be messy.

I have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro (see profile for full details). I'm new to having a laptop AND a desktop... whenever I go on trips I need to use the laptop but then come back and use desktop. Ideally, a good idea, but...
What I'm missing is how to sync the files??
I have files on MacPro not on MBP and files on MBP not on MacPro. It's becoming a mess. Right now I'm doing transfers manually and it's horrible! Esp. cuz I have to transfer all from one comp to an external drive and then onto the other computer. Time wasting!
There must be an easier way?
Plus, the real issue is _I don't want to sync all files_. Just essential ones. Main big file system stays on Mac Pro, smaller travel needed files need to be on MBP.
Please help?

No one has answered it still! (Did I post in wrong section?) Hence reason why I cannot leave out the 'external drive' part because all files when I transferred came up with MINUS signs and I can't access them (unless I copy them THREE times to THREE different locations - makes NO sense to me!!)

The problem still would stand though, as to how I sync files after I use migration utility, if I try it again. Is migration utility supposed to be used every time I sync? I thought it was just for my initial set up.
Fortuny - I have heard of ChronoSync and had been planning on looking into it for backups. I didn't know it could be used to sync laptop to desktop though...
Can I use ChronoSync to sync user files? I am wondering if I could just avoid the migration utility all together and use this ChronoSync instead and not get all these weird permission issues... Maybe? -

I got a wrt54g v 5. I have tried to stream web-TV at 800 kb/s from my internet connection of 3.5 Mbps. When I connect my computer straight to the modem by wire, the streaming works perfect. When I try to stream the same on the WLAN it freezes afther just some seconds. I have also tried to measure the speed with wire and wireless, and it gets the same result about 3.5 mbps. My computer is also the only one on the network.
Why does this happen? I have updated the firmware, tried different MTU values and also tried some other different things like turn of the cryptation, have the computer right beside the router and different wireless channels. It still freezes. I am starting to get frustrated.
So what can I do to get a 800 kbps stream to work with this 54 mbps wireless network??? Is it possible? Or is not the router good enought? If it don't work: ehy cant a router send a signal that is 60-70 times slower than 54 mbps?

Message Edited by sew on 05-05-200710:24 AM54g is not really fast enough, but it can work if you use buffering(WMP or VLC), try something simple like running a batchfile which does a ping in a loop while streaming.
Try also these settings:
Beacon Interval: 50
DTIM Interval: 1

Help with Outlook 2010 sync calanders and contacts by iCloud! please help!
I've got an quesstion:
I got Microsoft office 2010 x86 on my windows 7 PC.
With the iCloud program V 1.0.1
I checked all boxes : mail, contacts, calanders/ tasks, bookmarks, photo stream
Now the question is..
When i open my outlook, i can see my mail from my icloud account..
But is there a possible way, that icloud sync my outlook 2010 with the contacts and calenders to?
Because all i can see is my mail, my calander and contacts are empty?
Isnt that what iCloud stand for, auto sync?
Or is the only way to put contacts by checking in iTunes the contacs and calanders??
So its not possible that icloud sync auto, like it sync from iphone 4s to ipad, to icloud.com...
So what i try to say is if you add contact on your iphone 4s whereever you are.. that it auto sync with oudlook 2010 like it does on icloud.com and my ipad 2

I am trying to stream music from my iMac using iTunes music files to my Cocktail Audio X10 music streamer. I have allowed my files to be shared the X10 sees the files but when I try to accsess them it gives me the message files not mounted. Please help?
No, I have the music I want to move from the laptop to the phone selected. Then I go under file, devices, and try to click sync but it is not available to click.

If you Restore using last computer you synced to the password will be removed and you can restore the last backup on your computer, which includes your camera roll.
If you enabled Photo Stream in iCloud your photos are in Photo Stream.
If you had installed one of the many apps that can upload photos to a photo sharing site and had used it you will have your photos.
If you have done none of these things you are out of luck. The phone comes with many tools to preserve content, but you have to use them. -
Ipod not found - will not sync; restored and lost everything. Please help.

My iPod Classic has worked perfectly for the few years I've had it. I only use it a few times a month on average so it's still in really nice shape.
Earlier today, I went to sync it like I do every couple of weeks whenever I add new songs, and something strange occurred. At first, it seems to say "Syncronizing..." but quickly stops and displays the "Connected" status instead - not long enough to sync even one song.
Sure enough, I checked it and it had not updated.
After using the "Run Diagnostics" option, it tells me "Device Sync Tests Results: No iPod touch, iPhone or iPad found."
Yet - under "Device Connectivity Tests", it does say "iPod Found" and it shows up as a device in my iTunes - but not in my Devices (under Preferences).
I followed every step in the troubleshooting guide that iTunes directed me to, each with the same results. As a last resort, I used a Factory Restore, which was what the website told me to do.
To my horror, the problem STILL persists - and I just cleared out not only all of my songs, but photos that were very important to me that I only had on my ipod. I even tried to do a backup first, but my device would not show up under the "Preferences/Devices" category, I could not even save them before I restored it.
Now I am stuck with an ipod that will not sync with my itunes library, and an ipod that has absolutely nothing on it. At least before I restored it, it had all of my old music and photos on it.
This is very frustrating and upsetting. If there is anything that might be able to be done, please help - and please, do not send me back to the same webpage - I already tried everything there at least twice now.
I also borrowed a different cable to make sure it wasn't my adapter, and there was no difference.
To make matters worse, as I am trying to find someone to assist me, I received this message after entering my serial number;
"It looks like your product is not covered for complimentary technical support, so you may need to purchase a single incident of support."
This iPod already cost me $250.00 and that was steep in and of itself. I really do not feel that it would be fair to have to pay even more just to get some help when it malfunctions.
If absolutely anything can be done, please help me. I would be very grateful.

No iPod, iPhone, or iPad found.This issue has been resolved - my Support Advisor, Edgar, was able to discern what was causing the problem.
It appears that, despite years of never experiencing this, one of the latest ipod updates actually altered my device's personal settings and changed it to "Manual" for all synchronizing; even performcing Factory Restores did not change it back to being automatic.
My ipod is working as good as ever now thanks to Edgar. If anyone else is having this problem, please make sure you check your device's settings in iTunes and see if "Manual" is checked - even if you never changed the settings yourself and have no reason to suspect that to be the problem, as was the case here. If it is checked - uncheck it to enable automatic syncing.
So relieved this was not a much more serious problem. I've missed having my music on the go. Thanks, Edgar! -

Has your carrier been having issues with Call Display? Do the telephone numbers come up when people call, or does it just show 'Unknown Number' or 'Blocked' ?

In the Music tab of iTunes, do you have 'Include Voice Memos' checked?

The error message you're seeing is likely the other way around -- i.e. something like "This iPhone has previously been synced with a different computer". There's no problem syncing multiple iOS devices to the same computer.
However, the reverse is not true for the iPhone -- you cannot connect an iPhone to another computer without it being erased, even if you manually manage music and video. So, it sounds like you've been syncing your iPhone to a different computer?
Also, 5.1 (not 5.0.1) is the latest iOS. -
IPhone 4 Won't Sync to iTunes 10.5.2.11 (Please Help - Ty)
I am to my wits end here trying to figure out how to solve my syncing issue with iTunes.
Currently, when I plug my iPhone to iTunes - All I can see is the device name and when I click on it. I see the "set up your iPhone" screen which only allows a restore option but, I've tried resorting. Once the retores over it does not sync my phone with iTunes and then re-shows the same screen when you unplug and replug the device.
- Any help from anyone would be appreciated as I don't what to do at all anymore.
This is the first time that this problem has ever occured. Currently, I'm running iTunes 10.5.2.11 on Win7 64-bit.
These are the following things that I have done which DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE
Used the command prompt solution as adminstrator by typing : "netsh winsock reset" then restarted laptop
Done everything Apple suggested carefully e.g. uninstalling everything i.e. iTunes, restarting laptop and then re-installing and then syncing.
Stoped and Restarted AMDS
Repaired iTunes from the control panel
Re-allocated drivers to "common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers" and to "c:/program files/common files/apple/manually from Device Manager
Tried the safety mode option by clicking the shift+control buttons and then clicking on the iTunes icon on desktop
Entered DFU mode and restored iPhone - no result
Turned off Wi-Fi network then tried to sync
- I don't know what else I can do to solve the problem . Please help me if you have a solution.

I have tried and confimed that you can download the previous version from some web-site about the version 10.5.1.42.
Remove/un-install 10.5.2.11 and restart your computer.
Install the old version 10.5.1.42
and then you can find the "Devices" on the left column and showing synchronizing when you connect the cable.

Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Hello, I wanted to clear out my photo stream folder on my macbook pro, so I copied all the photos to a permanent folder. I then deleted all the photos in my photo stream folder. The photos in my backup folder were automatically deleted and I want them retrieved. They are not in my trash and I can't find them. Are photos autmatically backed up in my phots? How can I retrieve the deleted photos? Please help. Thanks.
You can't currently delete individual photos but you can reset
Step 1: Login to your iCloud account on iCloud.com from a Mac or PC.
Step 2: Click on your name at the top right of the main iCloud page.
Step 3: Click on the Advanced option.
Step 4: Click “Reset Photo Stream.” You will then need to confirm.
Step 5: This Photo Stream reset will not go into effect until you toggle Photo Stream on and off on your devices. In iOS, Photo Stream can be turned off and on in the iCloud settings window of the Settings app. -
Hello everyone,my names Charlotte and I was wondering if someone could help me with my iPod not syncing to my iTunes properly.
Okay well basically,a while ago my laptop caught a virus and in the end I ended up having to reboot the whole thing.
(My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate)
However,because of this,it meant I had to download iTunes again, and so I did.
(I have the latest iTunes and iPod Touch version downloaded)
Then I found a way how to sync all my music from my iPod touch (not the 4th gen) to my laptop, so I did and put all my music and more (from albums I haven't downloaded yet e.t.c) onto my newly downloaded iTunes.
But anyway,back to the original topic. Because of downloading iTunes again and rebooting my laptop, my iPod Touch wont sync to my new iTunes and I don't know what I can do to fix this?
Another thing I did notice was on the 'Devices' option on the sidebar, it now says 'iPod Touch', instead of 'Charlotte's iPod'.
I'm really stuck on what to do because when my iPod does sync to my iTunes it says 'Syncing iPod Touch (Step 1 of 1)', when usually it should be of 4 steps, like backing up data and transferring purchases e.t.c.
Then it just finishes sync..
One thing I did do was de-authorize it and re-authorize it again as I found online that it worked for some people,.... for me it didn't. To be honest I didn't expect it to work as I thought it was just for anyone trying to hack/take away your music...but it was worth a shot anyway.
But please help!
