Please suggest me the best way to start learning about Oracle Purchasing.

Hi,
I have started reading about Oracle Procurement. I have an over all idea of how ERP functions. Anyhow I am like a fresher to ORACLE APPS. Can you pleasesuggest me what is the best way to start learning about Oracle Purchasing.
Is it is throuhg user guides or some thing else..... can you please specify the references also.......
Thank you so much.

If you have a sponsorship, I would recommend taking classes with Oracle University. The other resources are documentation, functional and technical depending on what your interests are.
If you can load Vision database or access vision database (I think solutionbeacon offers a free account to login and play around), that will be another resource as well.
As you learn, join as much user groups like this one, and review all questions and answers in the discussions to understand and learn more.
Hope this helps.

  • Need Best way to start learning Oracle 11g  DBA

    Hi.This is Tejaswi.
    I want to learn Oracle 11g DBA.I've downloaded all software's and Documentation for Orcl 11g R2. Now. i want to start Learning DBA. Can any one suggest me the best way to Start learning DBA?
    Please suggest me the good books For Oracle Architecture and SQL.......

    Hello Tejaswi,
    The advice you got about reading the Oracle Concepts and 2 Day DBA documentation is very good advice.
    I found that knowing some SQL*Plus and SQL Developer was also very helpful as, they both provide a way to interface with the database and try the things you read about. For SQL Plus, I used the book:
    Oracle SQL*Plus: The Definitive Guide, 2nd Edition
    By Jonathan Gennick
    Publisher : O'Reilly
    ISBN : 0-596-00746-9 I openly recommend it. It is easy to read, the book is very well thought out, it covers what you really need to know (and more too). The author explains the subjects very well. I would definitely learn some SQL Plus and SQL developer before getting into the 2 Day DBA document (make those 2 days about 7 days each if not more).
    To learn SQL, I "sort of" used (I say "sort of" because I only read some parts of it available online and at the local bookstore):
    Oracle SQL by Example
    By Alice Rischert
    Publisher: Prentice Hallit probably has more SQL than you'd need as a DBA but, it is an excellent book you may want to consider.
    If you are starting from scratch, as I did, you'll find that you need to learn multiple things at the same time. I believe SQL Plus is the best place to start, along with possibly the Concepts document. That will give you a base to build upon.
    HTH,
    John.

  • HT4413 I want to transfer about three thousand photos on my MacAir to my iMac. Any suggestions on the best way of doing this?

    I want to transfer about three thousand photos on my MacAir to my iMac. Any suggestions on the best way of doing this?

    Are the photos in iPhoto?
    If they are, you can simply copy your iPhoto Library (located in your Pictures folder) to a thumb drive or external drive and then copy it over to your other Mac. This will only work if the iMac has the same version (or later version) of iPhoto as does the Macbook Air.  Then on the iMac, if you want to combine this new library with the existing one over there, use iPhoto Library Manager (a free download program).
    If you want to copy over only a portion of that iPhoto library, iPhoto Library Manager can create a smaller library containing just the photos you want to include. Then copy that smaller library.

  • The best way to start with JDeveloper

    Can anybody tell me what the best way is to start using JDeveloper? Besides Oracle Manuals, are there other ones? Thanks for responding!!

    It would be nice if you can specify what is your background. Which tools/languages you used before?
    If you don't know Java pick up a Java book that will teach you the basics and the syntax.
    A good free online book is : http://www.mindview.net/Books/TIJ/
    Then use JDeveloper to do the code samples in the book.
    Use this tutorial to understand the basic of the JDeveloper IDE:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/introide/introjdevide.htm
    Then once you got the basics you should probably try out the ADF tutorial to see how you build a complete Web application that interacts with a database:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html
    This page also contains the ADF Developer Guide book.
    In addition the JDeveloper home page has links to more demos tutorials and how-to's:

  • What is the best way to start "fresh" with iPhoto '08?

    I am running iPhoto '08 on a mid-2007 iMac. When I set up the machine, I moved all the photos from my PC to the Mac retaining the existing directory structure that I had on the PC. I then imported all the pictures into iPhoto with no problems.
    Unfortunately, the other person who uses the Mac needs to be able to use the directory structure as it existed on the PC (that structure involves several subfolders with specific names etc.), and it appears that iPhoto is not designed to work that way. I know the photos can still be manipulated in the folders I imported, but then I run the risk of at best, being out of synch with iPhoto and at worst, corrupting iPhoto completely.
    That said, what I would like to do is delete or remove the current iPhoto library (or whatever iPhoto accesses; not the whole application unless necessary) and then selectively import photos to iPhoto. That way, the other user can access the photos in the familiar folder structure and manipulate them at will without disturbing the iPhoto db and, once photos are edited etc. and ready for primetime, they can be imported to iPhoto to gain the advantages of displaying using Front Row etc.
    My question is what is the best way to achieve what I am looking for? Just backup then delete the iPhoto pkg file in the HD/Library/Receipts folder? Uninstall the entire application and start over?
    All assistance greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    You don't need to re-install iPhoto, just change the library - and you may not even need to do that.
    1. You can easily recreate your Directory structure in iPhoto. Simply start at the bottom of your structure and drag a folder of images to the Source (or left hand) pane of the iPhoto Window. iPhoto will create an Album of the same name. The create your enclosing folders (File -> New Folder) and drag the albums to it. This way you can quickly recreate what you have/
    2. The other user of the files can access them directly via the iPhoto Window or a Media Browser such as THIS. The advantage of this system is that your directory structure is available to them ina convenient and recognisable way. They can then drag the pics from the iPhoto Window / Media Browser to the app they as the need. (A whole lot faster than fumbling around in Folder after Folder etc, plus the advantage of keyword searching.)
    3. Is this necessary for working with an editor? You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. Btw this is the only way that edits made in iPhoto will be visible in iPhoto.
    4. Finally, if you do wish to go as you described: Simply trash the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder. Start iPhoto and it will create an new empty library. If you wish to recover the files from the Library first, then Right Click on the iPhoto Library and go 'Show Package Contents'. Your files are in the Originals Folder.

  • What is the best way to start SAPGUI in a specific transaction

    Hello,
    What I'm trying to do is to run a Java program that will start SAPGUI (in windows format, not HTML) and present the user with a specific transaction with some data already inserted.
    I already managed to start the SAPGUI and I know how to fill in data using the SapJCo but my question is: what is the best way to navigate to a specific transaction? I can activate an RFC of BAPI_CALL_TRANSACTION but it seems like a big overhead. so, can any of you tell me what is the best way activate a specific transaction in SAPGUI using JCo?
    Thanks,
    Uri Lifshitz.

    Uri
      JCO are mostly used to executed a RFM on the Destination.
      I don't think we could call a Transaction using JCO.
    Thanks

  • What's the best way to start this dashboard?

    I have a data set of titles, gender, race, and disability.
    I would like to create a dashboard that will be visually appealing to the end user that relies on this information.
    What would be the best way to visually represent the gender, race, and disability for each title?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Zack H.

    Hi Zack
    Start with a blank piece of paper and draw out what you think will look ok in terms of the relationships between the data sets you have and a basic structure on areas for controls and areas for visualisations.   Then create this mock up using tables/charts etc.  Try to select charts which fit the data you have, see [here|http://media.juiceanalytics.com/downloads/graphselectionmatrix_sfew.pdf]
    Take it to your user group and discuss, and enjoy the many iterations that follow

  • Please help with the best way of adding together numbers like this ..

    Hey.
    What's the best way with J2ME to acheive this .. I have an integer, let's the it's value is "123456" and what I wanna do is to add them together this way: 1 + 2 +3 + 4 + 5 + 6. How would I do that? Thanks in advance!

    My solution should keep going until you have all the digits added, regardless of the number of digits. Because it divides the number by 10 each time through the loop, it'll stop when you have divided it enough to reach 0 using integer division. So if your number only has 1 digit, the loop will only run 1 time, and if you have a 20 digit long value (change types to long), it'll run 20 times.
    If you want all of the digits added up, this'll do it. If you want the first n digits, and don't know how many digits(m) there are it's going to need a different approach. If you know how many digits long the number is....
    int number = 12345678;
    int totalLength = 8;
    int usefulDigits = 3;
    int firstDigit = totalLength - usefulDigits;
    for(int i=0; i < totalLength; i++){
        if(i >= firstDigit){
            sum += a % 10;
        a = a / 10;
    }This requires you to figure out how many digits are in the number ahead of time. I'm not sure about the fastest way to do this, but I'd likely do it with a series of if() statements that look for the number of digits in a binary-search style...
    //pseudo code...
    if(num >= 10000){
        //at least 5 digits...
        if(num >= 1000000){
            //at least 7 digits...
            ... fill it in ...
        }else{
            //5 or 6 digits...
            if(num >= 100000){
                //six digits...
                return 6;
            }else{
                //5 digits
                return 5;
    }else{
        .... just like above...

  • What is the best way to switch from Trial to Purchased

    I have the downloaded trial version of InDesign CS3 and will purchase it.
    What is the best way to accomplish this once the credit card has been debited?
    * Delete the trial version and download the purchased file from Adobe? (I would save off any pages created in the trial version of course).
    * Just enter the serial number provided by Adobe into the trial version I have been using and dont bother downloading the link provided by Adobe?
    * Delete the downloaded trial version and have Adobe send me the box version (taking longer obviously)? Once again, I would save the pages already created?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Just enter the serial number.
    Note: if you only downloaded InDesign but bought the full suite, you'll
    need to uninstall the trial and install the suite.

  • What's the best way to start a new, LARGE vault?

    Hi all,
    I have a late 2010 Mac Pro and a 1.8TB Aperture library on a dedicated internal drive. The internal 2TB drive that manages the library has gotten full, so I've just replaced the internal drive to 3TB and copied the library over from the 2TB drive (took about 4hrs to copy).
    Now I've got to replace the 2TB EXTERNAL vault drive, with a 3TB external vault drive. I'm wondering how best to go about it?
    Should I just create a new vault from within Aperture or copy my old vault to the new drive?
    I mentioned I have a 2010 Mac Pro because it only has USB 2.0 (and FireWire 800) ports. I'm guessing it will take days to create this new vault via USB and am wondering if anyone knows the fastest way to go about it ?
    Thanks very much

    1) Physically disconnect the old Vault drive and put it aside as an archival backup, at least until Aperture and your new hardware have been in _perfect_ operation for a few weeks.
    2) Verify that Aperture is working properly and that your Library is fully functional.
    3) Attach your new drive via FW800. If the new drive is capable of external (rather than just through FW) power attach the external power. USB also works but is slower and IMO less consistent than FW.
    4) Use Disk First Aid to verify that the new drive is functioning properly.
    5) Restart the Mac.
    6) Enter Aperture and from within Aperture create a new Vault on the new external drive.
    7) Keep the Vault drive physically disconnected from the system when not actively backing up to avoid damage from power surges as well as from human error. Ideally store it in a vault and/or off site. A vault drive lost to lightning, fire or theft has no value.

    -Allen
    P.S. Personally I recommend against such large Libraries and Vaults. I recommend using a Referenced-Originals Library and backing up originals before entering Aperture. That makes for a much smaller Library and much smaller vaults as well as much safer originals. In databases smaller is by definition better.

  • What's the best way to start over?

    Hi everyone,
    I bought a new internal HDD to replace my main drive that is failing. Other post of mine detail where I have been with issues but anyway...
    Here is my current HDD set up:
    Bay #1: The failing WD 1 TB Green (10.5.5) which is going back for a refund.
    Bay #2: Newly bought/installed WD 1 TB caviar black.
    Bay #3: Back up WD 1TB Green (10.4.10) that serves as a back up but I am using it to perform the formating at the moment since the other HDDs are unreliable.
    Bay #4: Original WD 250 GB (10.5.5) that came with the MacPro but strated showing signs of failure.
    As soon as I started up the Mac I got a message asking what I wanted to do with the newly installed HDD in Bay #2. I obviously pressed Initialize and Disk Utility openned up.
    I chose the Option to name and to zero out the drive 1st with a 1 pass zero out. I am wondering though, would it have been better to Verify and Repair the new Disk 1st before zeroing it out with Disk Utility?

    Hi hatter,
    Ok. So I slept on it...Sometimes a rest, a fresh point of view or a renewal of patience can help not to give up...
    Here is what I did this morning:
    1) Tried booting from last night's Cloned main drive again but OS X 10.5.5 still won't boot from the new WD 1 TB Caviar Black (10.5.5) - Endless swirling wheel and aternating blue and light blue screen.
    2) I did a cold shut down again.
    3) I did a little swich in the drive bays:
    Bay# 1: WD 1 TB Black Caviar (10.5.5 - not booting)
    Bay# 2: WD 500 GB Caviar SE16 (10.4.10 - partitionned in 1/2 to hold Windows XP on the 2nd partition).
    Bay# 3: WD 1 TB Green (10.4.10 - backup boot drive)
    Bay# 4: WD 250 GB Caviar (10.5.5 - original drive that came with the MacPro but started the hole failing issues and was the main drive with all apps and files)
    4) I booted into Windows XP and used WD Lifeguard Diagnostics Utility and it reported that all drives are OK. But they're not !!! Argh !
    5) For the heck of it, I tried booting into the original failing WD 250 GB Caviar (10.5.5) that holds all original apps and folders, and I got in...*** !!!
    6) I booted back into the WD 1 TB Green back up drive (10.4.10) and decided to try and SuperDuper the original failing 250 GB drive to clone it onto the WD 1 TB Caviar Black and erasing the previous trial. It took about 1 1/2 hour.
    7) I booted into the Black drive again and I finally got in!!! Can I trust this?

  • Hi. In simple language, can you please tell me the best way to protect my important and numerous files - music, images and docs - from being lost; in the event the computer crashes and data is irretrievable?

    I have a lot of photos and music, plus important personal files. In simple terms, can you recommend how I should go about backing these up and ensuring they are not lost through some computer malfunction?
    I need to understand the uses and merits of iCloud, Time Machine and on/off site external drives. I don't really want to invest money, time or new external hardware to achieve this. It can't be too labour intensive, either.
    I have an external drive, which I last backed up perhaps two years ago. It is old, it requires wiring, and it sits next to to the desktop, so would be useless in case of fire (god forbid), say.
    At the same time, I am concerned about cloud storage, and putting personal info and files into anonymous server farms, and the hands of anonymous organisations/people.
    Call me a luddite, but I suspect these are fairly standard concerns, and I can find simple answers with a simple Google search.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    This is what Apple has to say:
    Report on Government Information Requests
    "... our business does not depend on collecting personal data. We have no interest in amassing personal information about our customers."
    This one concerns iOS, but its approach to privacy is the same:
    http://images.apple.com/ipad/business/docs/iOS_Security_Feb14.pdf
    A couple stories about one Google alternative:
    DuckDuckGo: the plucky upstart taking on Google with secure searches
    DuckDuckGo: The privacy search ruffling Google's feathers
    NSA scandal delivers record numbers of internet users to DuckDuckGo
    Why Traffic To These Google Alternatives Is Soaring
    One of several concerns about Google Chrome, for instance:
    Chrome Bugs Allow Sites to Listen to Your Private Conversations
    Google's Business Model: YOU Are the Product
    "You are not a Google customer. You are a Google product."
    Those aren't just anyone's worthless opinions. Those are also the exact words of a federal magistrate dismissing a case regarding privacy intrusion involving the plaintiff's Android phone:
    "... With little or no revenue from its users, Google still manages to turn a healthy profit by selling advertisements within its products that rely in substantial part on users’ personal identification information (“PII”). As some before have observed, in this model, the users are the real product."
    I understand you didn't ask primarily about Google, but you expressed the very understandable desire for privacy, yet don't seem to mind using Google for search. Those aren't reconcilable sentiments.
