Please try installing again....errors installing OS X

I have erased my hard drive. I am using the original OS X discs to boot and install.
No matter the choices I make the process gets to "Install" on the listing on the right of the installer window....then it dumps:
"There were errors installing the software" (reports along the top just under the title bar)
"Please try installing again." (reported in the window)
I am completely stuck. PLEASE HELP!

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the Erase tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion hopefully you'll be able to install.
How to format your disks...

(To Install OSX on an IntelMac the Drive it needs the GUID Partitioning scheme mentioned at the bottom.)

  • Generic Installation Error - "Please try installing again."

I have tried installing iWork '06 on my computer about 6 times now. Each time it goes through the whole installation process and then at the end it says there was an error, with the message, "Please try installing again." I have come across other posts in this forum about installation errors, but nothing like this one. I am running OS X 10.4.4 and everything else is updated. I did not have iLife '05.
It should be noted that even though it says there was an error, it does seem to install iWork. The problem is that when I open Pages and select a template, it unexpectedly (or should I say expectedly) quits everytime. So basically, it installed it with serious problems.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Lea

    Hi Lea,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions.
What we're discovering (since the release of Pages 2.0) is that there are a lot of install discs that simply aren't working correctly. Mine is one of them. It would install to 98%, then tell me the install failed. I haven't reinstalled because Pages seems to be working fine, although I've opened up only one template. The only thing you can do is to call Apple tech support (they're very aware of the problem), and they'll walk you through the process of reporting all the necessary information. They'll call you back in a few days, and then probably send you a new disc.

    Hi  Serpent,
    Try the following Steps:
open activity monitor and close all Adobe related applications
    navigate to: /Library/Application support/Adobe
In that directory you will see a folder named OOBE - Rename that folder to OOBEold
Navigate to: MAC HD /Application/Utilities directory
In there you will see a folder called "Adobe Application Manager" - delete it

  • 'There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again.'

Can anyone provide a solution for a sudden problem I've encountered. It began when trying to install Backup 3.1 and has now been repeated with OS X 10.4.5.
When trying through Software Update I'm told The update [packagename] can't be installed. Sorry, an unexpected error occurred. The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder.
When I try opening the Installer packages from the Finder the Installer reaches the stage of 'preparing target volume' and then displays this error: There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again.
Installer's Error Log says: Install failed: The following install step failed: run preflight script for [packagename].
    Console.log contains this:2006-02-15 21:07:27.431 Software Update[331] session:product:061-2046 didFailWithError:NSError "Error SUSessionErrorDomain 6" Domain=SUSessionErrorDomain Code=6 UserInfo={errorCode = -2; }
Unsuccessful steps I've taken to resolve this issue have been: (1) I trashed com.apple.installer.plist, (2) I repaired disk persmissions; (3) I repaired the disk (when I did so, Disk Utility reported that no repairs were necessary); (4) I restarted in Safe Mode; and (5) I tried installing using a different User account.
    Anyone?

Since first posting, I learned of further updates being available in Software Update (all the iLife '06 suite, basically). Horrified, I suspected that my Installer problem would rear its ugly head again with these, and sure enough that's precisely what happened. As a test, I unchecked all but one of the new items in Software Update and tried installing that. The exact same problem reoccurred.
Fortunately I also have an iBook G4 on which I had earlier run a successful upgrade to OS X 10.4.5. I ran Software Update on that machine, installed everything successfully, and then used Target Disk mode between iBook and iMac to first install 10.4.5 on the iMac and then to copy over the new versions of Backup, iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto, iTunes and iWeb. So my iMac is now up to date, but only by intervention of another machine. My original question remains: what could be causing the problem with Installer?
Thanks Jpfresno for your response. The only part of it which I had not tried was disconnecting my external Firewire HD before running Installer.

when I try to iTunes Match I get 'Please Sign In Again' error, I cannot access the songs which are visible in the iCloud in my music library on both iPad and iPhone

Did you try setting itunes to run with administrator privileges?

  • "Please sign in again" error

MacBook Pro running on OS X 10.7.2
    iTunes 10.5.1
iPhone 4 running on iOS 5.0.1
During the "gathering information about your iTunes library" stage after turning on iTunes Match, getting this dialog box:
    "Please Sign In Again
iTunes Match has encountered an error. Please choose Sign Out and then Sign In from the iTunes Store menu and try again."
Of course, no specific error is given.
So in iTunes/Store I sign out/sign in, then turn on Match again, and the gathering info process begins anew, which takes forever.  This is the 2nd time it's happened, each time about 3/4ths of the way thru the process.
What's up?  I should have known better than signing up for this service this early.

Christ!  I've wasted 2 full days on this and counting.  At least I am closer to the goal by now but still.  Steps 1 & 2 have run their course and now Step 3 is stalling badly (some shy of 5,000 tunes uploaded out of the expected 7,200 or so).  This glacial pace is beyond ridiculous and incredibly frustrating.  As to why Apple released this service in such a state is beyond me.  They are treating users, the general public, as their QA workforce, that's what it is.

Toni_Toaster if you need to locate the compromised file permission location then you will want to review your installation log files.  You can find details on how to review your installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.
In regards to the Exit Code 7 document - Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html.  The error is still possible with CC 2014 if the file permissions under the current User account have become compromised.  The steps to correct the file permissions is also still valid.

  • I got this error message today from Creative Cloud: "Installer was unable to access a critical file/directory. Please try installing again. Error Code: 49"

It was working great up until just last week, now it's not working. What did Adobe change to cause this problem and prevent any further updates after that last update?
When will Adobe fix it, without any action on my part. The whole idea of the Cloud was that this was supposed to take care of itself.

  • Installation error... please try again

I have a swivel screen iMac (800 Mhz) that used to have OS 10.4.9 on it. It began acting up -- applications would spontaneously close while in use. The HD has been erased and zeroed out -- no system of any kind exists on it now.
I tried to install a purchased (full install) version of OS 10.4.3 (the only OS 10x disk that I have) with the idea that I would then update the Mac to OS 10.4.10.
I selected "Erase and Install" and started the install.
During "Installing Essential" about 10 or so minutes into the install session, the install abruptly ends with the message "There were errors installing this software." Below that message inside the large info box is the message "Please try installing again." Many reinstall attempts result in the same message.
When I perform the Apple "Repair" from Disk Utility on the OS 10.4.3 Install disk, I get the message "No repairs were necessary." I have also tried "Erase free space...."
I am at a complete loss on this one. Any ideas on how to correctly install?

i also have same problem, use to have 10.4.9, after update 10.4.10, jus can see the mouse only on the screen. So i decide to re-install mac osx. but after that, i try to update the 10.4.10, this time i choose the Mac OSX 10.4.10 (PowerPc Combo) update, cos my version now is 10.4.2. But after i update it, now become more worst, when i restart my machine, it jus apear the apple logo and just stop there. So i decide to re-install mac OSX again. But still same, just apple logo and stop there.
today i pull out my extra 512MB ram, and try to use utility disk to repair my disk, it come out some eror message, than i try re-install MAC OSX, but it fail to install it. omg, what can i do T_T
Hope some one can help me at here. thank You. btw, hope apple can help me solve this problem, i already few days cant use my ibook,

  • Printing Calendar:An unexpected error occurred.  Please try again later.

I have been trying unsuccessfully for 3 days to print out a calendar from iphoto. I have done this every year for xmas gifts and this usually goes off without a hitch.
I click on buy calendar and it makes me login to my account (account works, I can still purchase via iTunes).
Once I confirm payment (and I have tried changing my payment method) and move past step 3 I get a pop up that says "An unexpected error occurs. Please try your again later"
I tried cards, individual photos and my old calendars. No orders will go thru.
Please help as I need this for xmas.

Let's give the old reliable remedy a try. This might work; if it doesn't, we can at least rule it out. Quit iPhoto and delete your iPhoto preferences. To do this, go to your username> library> preferences> com.apple.iphoto.plist. Delete this file. Then reopen iPhoto; it will create a new preference file with all of the default settings.
From your description, there is something in your Apple account that is at the root of the problem. Go to this site to be able to log into your account and make necessary changes. https://myinfo.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyInfo.woa

I hope one of these solves your problem.
