The hardware on the 4G can't support iOS 7.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory. The 4G only has 256 MB
Also, you are not addressing Apple here. We are all just users like yourself.

If you have the iPod Touch 4th generation then i'm sorry to say that your out of luck. It can only be downloaded on iPod Touch 5th gen. If you have the 5th gen iPod Touch then you go to settings > general > (second one from the top) Software update. and click instal for the one that says iOS 7!

ITunes Fails To Download iOS For iPod Touch In Recovery

I have an iPod Touch 5 (without camera) that was messed with by someone and ended up disabled for 45 years. As waiting 45 years until I can put in the pass code is not practical, *snickers* I put the iPod into Recovery Mode and went to restore it on iTunes (latest version running on Windows 8), and it wants to update the software to the latest version with the restore. All is well and it starts downloading the around 1.4GB software download. My internet is fairly slow currently. It will get awhile in (about 70-80mb) and a message pops up saying that the internet connection timed out or some similar message appears. When I try again it completely restarts the download. I have tried about three times. I have also restarted the computer. How can I get it to download or even skip the update completely? I have 45 years but id like to get it fixed sooner. lol

Due to my brother locking me out of my ipod touch I had to wait an hour to log in again. Unfortunately when I did this, I, again put in the wrong password twice more, each time locking me out for a further 60 minutes. On my 3rd attempt to log in the wrong password was entered again. This time though instead of logging me out for another 60mins it now tells me to "connect to itunes" but I have no idea how to do this and I am now unable to use my ipod. Please help.

“SUCCESS!!! I took my iPod to a friend who is a computer programmer/genius. He turned off his wireless, hooked the ethernet cable directly into his computer, and the download went through without a hitch. YAY!”
Here is my original post explaining what I had already tried:

It has the 2.1.2 ios on it, but after I paid for the upgrade to 3.1.1, I keep getting an error message (8288) saying there was a problem with the network connection. I have called customer service, and they suggested I try on a different computer, and if that didn't work, try connecting to a different network, and then trying the update. None of this has worked. It seems that tech support is clueless with this issue.
I have installed and unistalled iTunes 10.5, 10.3, 10.4, and now I am back with 10.5. I have tried looking up the issue from several search engines but no one seems to have a universal solution and I have tried several.
I really want to have this thing updated for himw hwne he opens it, but I am starting to worry that my purchase was a bust.
