I upgraded over 200 songs. About half of them replaced the originals, including remembering the play counts, ratings and which playlists they were in. The other half ended up being duplicates with no history and I had to remove the originals manually.

Syncing photos in iTunes with Apple TV and iPod Classic

Hi:
I recently purchased an Apple TV and every since I got it when I sync my iPod Classic and the Apple TV with iTunes, iTunes optimizes all my photos again (3000+ photos). In other words, every time I sync, iTunes optimizes my photos, deletes them and re-adds them again to the iPod and the Apple TV. Any idea why it may be doing this? I mean it’s ok, it’s just time consuming every time I do a sync. This never happened before unless I will add new photos and in that case iTunes will optimize and add just the new ones not all of them.

Ipod Just Show me the Apple logo and iPod Discostic Screen

Hi Again...
I think that my ipod is near its death because just is show me the Apple logo or something weird like a Screen in black and white titled iPod Diagnostic. What' that .. is it?
this mourning i was gonna use the ipod and his battery is very low ... but 30min before was in half.
What is this? my ipod is almost died?

well always i try reset (menu+select buttons), and it works but later the problem continues, and sometimes if i want to pause the song or turn off the ipod (Holding Play) the ipod dont do it, but pausing the song second later it do it after i push the pause button.
Well i think i have to Restored and update.

Problem syncing photos with Apple TV and iPod

Ever since I connected my Apple TV I have had problems syncing photos with both my iPod and my Apple TV.
The Apple TV gives me an error (no desciption) when I try to sync photos. The iPod gives me an error 39.
iPhotos is working fine. I rebuilt the library using the rebuild library feature and this has not fixed the problem.
I also rebuilt my iTunes library without success in fixing the problem.
How does it sync? Is there some kind of syncing file I need to delete that may be corrupt?
Does anyone have any ideas about what I could try?

Old Apple laptops and iPods

I have 5 old laptops and 2 iPod nanos. Is it possible to trade all of them for one unit?

I have an apple computer and ipod touch and an ipod classic when i sink the ipod touch everything sync all is well and then i try to sync my 120 gb classic and all the music syncs but not photo's it comes up saying it can't because itunes file is missing

Macbook pro to macbook air plus upgrade to lion and moving to cloud -- help!

So, I'm getting a new macbook air and I need to transfer stuff (apps, software, data, music, photos, etc.) from my macbook pro (a 2008 unibody w/a full hard drive that's got twice the storage of the air).
Should I upgrade the pro from OS 10.6.8 to lion first?
Should I move stuff to the iCloud first?
Whould I move my media (music, movies, TV shows, photos) to a hard drive first?
I'm clearly nervous about the best order of operations here so that I don't lose any of my data & media, and so I have the least awful transition experience. In the past, I've always upgraded to systems with *larger* hard drives so moving to a system with much less storage is freaking me out.

I took the conservative route when I migrated to the MBair. I made a clone of my source machine, booted that and tailored it down to what I wanted on the MBair. I left the original machine alone (with plenty of backups).
Then when I received the MBair, I connect my tailored, external disk clone and used that when setup assistant asked if I wanted to migrate another Mac to the MBair.

Does iPhone, iPad, apple tv and iPod count against your five computer limit under one account?

I cant seem to find a straight answer anywhere, some say this others that. I have 2 iphones 1 pad 1 apple tv 1imac all under 1 account. would like to get a second imac and want to know if I can keep everything under the same account. Do the phones pads and pods count towards your 5 count?

Converting video files for AppleTV and Ipod

So I have an Appletv AND and 80 GB Ipod classic.
I have some home videos that I would love to be able to play on both my apple tv and Ipod. I currently use ISync, but I have to create a separate file for the AppleTV and the IPOD as using the ipod file on an Appletv is grainy and low quality. Any ideas how I can convert my video file to a file that can be viewed on both my AppleTV and my Ipod?

Totally agree with Jolly Giant. Get Handbrake and use the Universal setting under the Apple presets in Handbrake. I feel it will get the best quality to have one file that works on both.

Shared Lib and iPod Synch

I have an install of iTunes on my office machine which I use to synch my Apple TV and iPod. Unfortunatly, the office machine has issues and frequently losses connection to Apple TV which is annoying.
So, I figured I'd move the library to a new dedicated machine. Looks like that wont be a problem, but as this machine will be tucked away in a closet, I'm wondering if I'll still be able to synch my iPod from the office machine even if the library is maintained on the new dedicated machine?
Also, if I continue to use the office machine to browse the store and purchase, will the files be placed within the library on the new machine auto-magically?

No. You'll have to copy the files over to the new machine. There is only ONE download from the itunes store for music & video. It's a good idea to have backups, in case either machine's hard drive fails. Copying the files to the new machine will take care of having a back up.
Is the new PC physically near the office machine?
What I'm getting at is, whether they are on the same computer network or not. I have no idea if you are talking about a home office in your house, or a closet in your house, or a closet in an office building where you go to work.

You cannot get Leopard from Apple any more. You will find copies from third-party vendors on eBay, Amazon, or Google.

Sign in with your Apple ID on iTunes Store (on iTunes app of her new computer)
Authorize her new computer with your Apple ID in iTunes (iTunes menu>Store>Authorize this Computer)
Check "Share my Library on my Local Network" in iTunes Preferences in your and her computer
Sign in Home Sharing of her iTunes with your Apple ID.
Copy all the Music she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Copy all the apps she wants from the old computer to the new one. (Must be on the same network)
Export all playlist as xml files from the old computer to the new one.(right click on the playlist to export and "File>Library>Import Playlist to Import)
Sync her iPhone 4S with all content she wants from her new computer (all data from the old computer will be deleted)
Are you sharing Contacts or other data from iCloud?

Yes, I do have multiple devices and it appeared to me that every time I tried to sync or log onto iTunes, the password was incorrect. Consequently, I was and am constantly changing it. Wouldn't it be nice if Apple would simply say that you only need one Apple ID and one password regardless of the number of Apple devices you intend to sync via iTunes.
Barring the above, how about a way to merge all of the Apple IDs and passwords into one.

Apple doesn't do trade ins. You can get 10% off your next purchase for recycling your old iPod through Apple.You'd do better to erase your iPod and sell it on ebay, then use the money toward a new iPod. Hope this helps, good luck, Cheers.
