PMT Terms with Cash Discount

FI Experts,
I created a new payment term with a 1% discount if paid whithin 10 days. Can some one give me some steps as to what else needs to be configured in order to have this difference deducted at the time of payment run. I know have to set-up an account but not sure what fields I have to check in order to make it work.  
1- Create new payment terms
2- I defined a G/L account for cash discount
Can some one tell me when I set-up the account if I have to set-it up a certain way? in FS00.

Good to know that it is working.  When you maintain payment term in vendor master, it SHOULD get defaulted when you perform FB60 for that vendor in that company code.  Payment term for vendor cannot be maintained in General Data section, it is in Company code segment.  Are you sure you are performing FB60 for the vendor in the company code in which you maintained payment term for that vendor in vendor master record?  Please recheck.  Also, if you have payment term in Purchasing Organization segment in vendor master record, it would not get defaulted in FB60.  Here is what SAP help says on payment term field in vendor master record.
In most business transactions, the system defaults the terms of payment key specified in the master record of the customer/vendor in question.
In some transactions (for example, credit memos), however, the system does not default the key from the master record. Despite this, you can use the key from the customer/vendor master record by entering "*" in the field.

    FI Gurus,
    I recently created  a new payment terms with a discount of 1 percent if paid within 10 days. Payable net if paid after. Everything has been going fine, up until I had a payment with a invoiced ate of Nov. 2008. I have the configuration to calculate the discount based on docuement date and not posting date. When I entered the invoice I even got a warning message that the discount for this invoice was expired. Which it gave me the confidence that I was on the right track. Then I went into the line item details and saw that the discount did not take place. But then when I went to pay the invoice thru BF system deducted the 1 percent. I then went to the account details and there was a discount showing. Did I missed anything during configuration?
    Your suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

  • F110 incorrectly grants cash discount to direct debit customers

    Hi,
    I am running F110 to execute direct debits for certain customers in Europe. Everything works fine except for one "error"
    it consistently include cash discounts on customer invoices which are way past net due date. F110 run date = 8/10/10, next run date 09/10/10. And yes, additional logs in the F110 parameters are set. See excerpt from display log below:
                Due date determination additional log
    Document 8130000238 line item 001 via EUR          300.00
    Terms of payment: 07/01/2010   10  3.000 %   30  0.000 %    0
    Customer receivable is payable on 07/11/2010 with cash discount terms 1
       Include customer items due by 09/10/2010
    Item should be paid now
    Item is due with 3.000 % cash discount
    All other invoices are calculated correctly. For the above, the cash discount base is set correctly What could be wrong?

    Posting date is todays' date (e.g. August 10th, 2010).
    This is a large Retail implementation with very fragmented areas of responsibility. I have checked all known posts and blogs and come up with nothing. Payment terms and payment methods are both present in the customer master record. When I run the Payment Proposal today with only two customer invoices to be paid, I have the following settings:
    1. invoice with 2.5% cash discount - 10 days / 30 days net. Invoice, posting and baseline date = 08/12/2010. $13.32. The system
        correctly calculates 2.5% cash discount for this item
    2. invoice with 3% cash discount - 10 days/30 days net. Invoice, posting and baseline date = 08/01/2010. $100, no VA. The 
        system incoorectly gives this customer a cash discount of 3% for this invoice - see below
    Parameters in F110: Posting date = 08/16/2010, next payment run 08/26/2010, Docs. entered up to = 08/16/2010, Customer items due by = 08/26/2010, this one cust. is psecified, payment method = E (direct debit) etc.

  • Cash Discount if F110 being considered even after expiry of due date

    Hello SAP Consultants,
    I have setup a payment term for client which is 1% disc if paid within 10 days of invoice date. On running automatic payment program F110, irrespective of no. of days, the payment program generates discount of 1%. (I am using standard payment method C-cheque)
    My doubt is why SAP is applying cash discount in F110 even when the payment is being made after 10 days say after a month.
    I have cheched the setting in FBZP in All company Codesfor Maximum Cash Discount. The tick is not there means it is not activated. Still we are getting the above error in F110.

    Hi Abhishek,
    The problem you're experiencing is caused by your payment term configuration, which probably has 1% 5 days but does not include how to handle cash discount after that date e.g. 0% 6 days. You can test this quite simply (presuming you have access to a test system) by changing the payment term configuration to include 0% for 6 days then post a vendor invoice with the same details provided in your message and process for payment. Alternatively find an existing vendor invoice with payment term you mention and double click into the vendor line item and add 6 days to the Cash discount days 2 field but leave the Cash discount percentage 2 field blank (see example below) then process for payment. I have also pasted the text from OSS note 48384 below which refers to this issue.

    I think first thing you should be looking for is are you following net discount method or gross discount method . As that will define whether the posting of discount will be at invoice or when you post the payment document against that invoice. + you have to configure cash discount accounts before you can post in cash discount.
    Net: Cash discount clearing account and Cash discount loss/gain account (At the time of Invoice posting )
    Gross: Cash discount given and Cash discount recieved account (At the time of payment)

  • Cash Discount in a purchase order

    I have a problem with Cash Discount in a purchase order .
    When I create a purchase order in ME21N , and I need to put a cash discount in the condition of the header of the purchase order or  in item detail, the line cash discount appears automatically when I create a new purchase order with the same material.
    Anybody could tell me why the Cash Discount  appears automatically?

    Hi,
    There is a diference between cash discount and discount. Cash disocunt will never come in PO. It comes only during inoice.
    The discount in PO is based on quantity. In your case it may ot be cash discount but a discount. It may come automatically because of one of the below reason.
    1. If you create a PO wih reference to the PO, which is having discount.
    2. If you maintain in Inforecord.

  • Payment for Cash Discount posted incorrectly

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a issue and wanted to see if someone came across anything similar.
    The problem is with Cash Discount Posting, the cash discount is calculated correctly in pricing and everything works fine when the invoice is created. However when the invoice is paid and posted in the system it splits the amount of cash discount with freight.
    Example:- Invoice XXXX had a cash discount of $347.64 and the invoice was paid, but when the payment was posted, it posted the cash discount as $347.63 and put the difference of $0.01 to freight.
    I'm not sure what's going on, any idea's or suggestions.
    Also, is there an OSS on this issue?

    If you want it to appear on the customer statement it will have to be a customer open item.
    However this would then post to the recon account and not the P&L account which I expect you want.
    Also discount taken is only posted to when the invoice is cleared.
    Therefore you cant get it in a customer statement, you would need to have the information in the Billing doc.
    Remember you are offering a cash discount for early payment, this does not mean the customer is always due it. However there are config settings to say the customer should always take the discount.

  • Vendor PMT terms Not Displaying in FB60

    FI experts, I am entering a vendor invoice thru FB60, but payment terms are no longer displaying, I have verified vendor master data and payment terms is maintained properly. I don't have this same issue with customer invoices thru FB70.
    Can someone assist as to what could have cause for vendor payment terms not to display on FB60 anymore. The problem is that this is causing for vendor invoices to be entered pay immediately and the payment terms in vendor master are not being taken into account.
    The only new thing we have done was create a new payment terms with a discount, which works perfect when you enter the payment terms manually in FB60.

    Hello Frank,
    For SAP standard posting key 31 is for incoming invoices and not payment.
    I am not sure why it worked before to you but this is the standard purpose of this posting key and it will not affect negativately other areas. If you want you can do some tests with integrated process between areas, to be sure but you will be using the standard, so do not worry about it.
    In help.sap.com you will find more information about posting keys but I am providing to you all the information about it. The change that I proposed to you is the right way that the posting key should be configured.

  • Posting_interface_clearing Fb05 transfer posting of invoices with cash disc

    We have a customised program that uses function module POSTING_INTERFACE_CLEARING to do a FB05 transfer posting with clearing of  invoices to a liabaility GL account
    It works perfectly except for the following scenario
    When we have invoices in USD currency posted in a canadian company code with cash discounts, the function module returns a "Difference in clearing" error
    Is there any way we can activate the cash discounts in the transaction?

    When we perform the FB05 transaction, we need to activate the discounts. If we dont activate the discount, we get the same error
    "Difference is too large for clearing"
    I am trying to see how we can change the building of this call transaction to be able to let the function module take care of activation of cash discounts.
    This happens if the cash discount and amounts are in local currency of the company code.
    I am trying to see what is different when clearing invoices in foreign currency
    I am a functional person trying to see where the gap is

  • Payment Term - Cash Discount

    All,
    I think that I have an easy question, but just wanted claridifcation.. I need to create a new payment term with a simple cash discount - just 2% if paid in full within 30 days and if not, no cash discount. Also, this is just for purchasing vendors. 
    Within configuration with the payment terms, is the following correct for what I need to do:
    Term 1. 2%   30 Days
    Term 2. 0%   30 Days (note, that I would leave the percentage field blank for this second line).
    At first I thought that I only needed the first line for it, but after reviewing other posts on this topic I have seen that I would probably need the two terms. However, I am unsure if I need to do anything with the Fixed Date and / or Additional Months field. Or, if what I have listed above should be correct.
    If you could provide any assitance, it would be much apperciated.

    But just to clarify - the net due date is actually 30 days, and they offer a discount if we pay it within the 30 days - so basically if we pay it on time, there is a 2% discount!
    So setting it up it would be:
    2%  30Days
           30days
    Correct?

  • How can we have cash discount as well as vendor payment terms

    We have vendor payment term of 2% 10 days, net 30. On top of it the vendor gives us 4% discount on certain POs where the total PO amount exceeds 20K. We want to have the 4% discount on the individual line item at the time of the invoice posting and then additional 1% discount from the payment term. We donu2019t want the PO price to change due to the 4% discount.
    In MIRO, it seems we can take either the cash discount (field WSKTO) or the discount from the payment term (field ZTERM).  How can we take both the discounts?

    1 - The 2% 10 days, net 30
               It can be calculated using the Vendor payrment terms.
    2 - The 4% discount which has to be applied on certain POs where the total PO amount exceeds 20K and should not change the PO price.
               I - Create a condition type with the calculation type A - Percentage and select the option Accruals in Control data 2.
              II - In the Calculation schema,
                                         Calculate the 4% value from the total of the PO Price.
                                         Untick the manual.
                                         Mark the condition type as Statistics.
                                         Enter a Condition Formula Calculation Rule (Calculation Type)  or Use the Requirement to activate if the
                                                value exceeds 20K.  
                                         Enter the Accrual key like (FR1, FRE ...) and assign the GL account to that.
                         By Maintaining this way, you affect only the internal price and not the PO price.

    In the Standard SAP System, Payment terms has been define with percentage base cash discount for days ( e.g Within 14 days 2 % Cash Discount).
    As per my business requirement, I want to have  payment terms like " Payment within 4 days INR 3 per Unit Cash Discount ", and INR 3 per Unit should shows during incoming payment from the customer, if customer is making payment within 4 days

    Hi,
    The documents which are already posted can not be changed. Alternatively reverse the posted document by using mass reversal then you post the new documents with new rules for this old transactions.

  • Lockbox Issue with payment on exact day as Cash Discount Days 1 Due Date

    Dear Gurus
    We are running into an issue in as much as when we receive a payment against our Lockbox on the exact day as the Cash Discount Days 1 due date the system posts this as an on account posting as opposed to applying the cash against the open receivable and posting the difference to the Cash Discount Account.
    E.g. Invoice 10000 Payment term 34 days 2% Net 35. I created the AR invoice today with invoice date and posting date of Oct 9, 2009 and posted the same. Received payment $ 9800 on Lockbox file today Nov 12 using the BAI2 format Lockbox file and found that the system did not even show the invoice # on the Lockbox reports but it recognized the customer based on the MICR # and posted an on account payment. It gave the error" F5 263 Difference too large for Clearing"
    The users have prior complained that this situation arises in F-28 as well where they would have to force the discount instead of the system recognizing the same if cash was being applied on the same date as the Cash discount Days 1 due date.
    Any help in this regards will be geratly appreciated and points awarded.

    Please check the net due date of the document which you are trying to do the payment. As it is critical information to calculate the cash discount.

    *Step 1: Create a payment term in Maintain of Payment term
                 On immediate payment 5 % cash discount
    *Step 2: -  Define acount for Cash discount taken
                 -  Define acount for Lost Cash discount
    *Step 3: Assign the payment term to my Vendor
    *Step 4: Post a new invoice
    *Step 5: Clear it with payment immediately
    But I still don't receive cash discount
    Please show me the reason and how to check configuration

    Follow the path
    Financial accounting ->Account receivables and payables ->vendor account->business transactions->outgoing invoice/credit memos->maintain terms of payment.
    In this  percentage coulumn u can maintain discount rates.

    You can achive this with the functionality of cash discount.
    SKTV - Cash Discount before Tax
    SKTO Cash Discount after tax.
    You need not maintain any condition records for this. Based on the payment terms applicable in the order, these discounts will be populated in your sales order.
    In your pricing procedure, You should have SKTV after Net Value and before Tax calculation. use Requirement 14 and Base value 2. sub total D.
    You should have SKTO after Total Value in your pricing procedure. Use Requirement 9 and Base Value 11. Sub total not required.
    You can have both the above condition types or any one of them. That depends on your client's requirements.
