PO text using lsmw MATERIAL MASTER

Hi , how to upload PO text trhough LSMW as its only loading 132 char, if i have 400 char how to load.
there is a structure in lsmw BMMH7, but what to pass in tdformat and tdline and TDSPRASISO

thanks for the reply, but is there any other way by which I can upload PO text as I have potext in one column and line. I am using LSMW , where it concatenates to 132 character, but i have to upload full say 400 char text.

Dear Deepak,
there is standard direct upload i believe
go to lsmw
Execute 1st option
then inLSMW:Object Attribute screen
in standard batch/ direct input
firsr radio button
select object 005
and method 003
Program name RSTXLITF.
Then go by normal process i.e source field , field mapping...
In this way u can also upload Text in the Material master.

New sales text ID in material master

Hi,
Before posting this query i have searched the forum but couldnt find any suitable answers for my query.
Our requirement is we need to have 3 new sales text ids created for material master with the language "EN".Per sap Standard we have a text id "0001" in material master which can be maintained once per language.Our requirement is to have multiple text ids with one language. Is this possible with standard sap configurations? where we can define a new Sales text id for material master.

Since there is already one text type , so the best choice is to create another 2 text types with say 'ZA' and ZB
and use them.
Try coping the Langauge EN and create another 2 as per your requirement say A and B. As of my knowledge you can have only one text per language , please check it once again at your end.
So you have to copy the EN and create another two.

Authorisation object for "PO text in the material master"

Hi,
My requirement is as below:
"All users can see the Purchase Order Text as usual, but only a few users should be allowed to create / change the PO Long Text.
For other users, the same should appear in display mode only (both in creation & in change mode, MM01 & MM02)."
Please let me know, How to map this.
As per my knowledge thsi is possible only thru authorisation. But I want to know what is the authorisation object for "PO text in the material master" (Pl note that only for PO text in the material master field). we want control on "PO text of material master"

Authorization group in the material master are maintained at the material type level.
SPRO->IMG-> Logistics - General-> Material Master-> Basic Settings-> Material Types-> Define Attributes of Material Types
List of authorization roups can be found in table T134-Material Types
this filed is a free defined 4 charcter field.

Adding a new long-text type to Material Master

We need to add a long-text type to Material master, in addition to Basic, Inspection and Internal comment texts.
What would be the best way to do this?
Is there configuration that will allow the generation of a new tab in MM01 - Additional data screen, along with Basic, Inspection etc or should we create a new Screen exit for the new Text type to be edited?
If a screen Exit is available could you please name it?

Hi,
You can add your own tabstrip in material master and put your long texts on it.
Please have a look at transactions OMT3C, OMT3B, OMT3E.
All customizing for material master extention can be found in SPRO -> Logistics - General -> Material Master -> Configuring the Material Master.

Maintain Text Types in Material Master

Hi,
Is it possible to maintain different text types in the materials master "Sales text" tab just like we can maintain at the sales order header and item levels.
In VOTXN there is no option for configuring text types for material master (text object MVKE) so I was wondering that if it is possible at all. Please let me know if you have any idea on the same.

Hi Deepak,
In Material Master you can maintain the "Basic data text". It can be maintained in Basic data 1 view by selecting the Additional data. This text can also be fetched according to your requirement with the help of developer.

Upload Material master with long text using LSMW

Hello,
i want ot upload material master data via MM01 using LSMW in following views: basic data 1 ,2, purchasing, purchase order text, plant data 1,2.
i have to upload long text in purchase order text with length more then 132 char. (approx 700 char long text). and i have text file in which long text is maintained in a single row. then how can i do it without formating text file or anyother possible solution.
please help.

Guideline for Using 40 Char in Short Text Field of Material Master

Dear Experts & Forum Members,
In MM01 while creating a Material Master record (spare part) we need to fill in Basic Data. It has a field known as "Short Text Field " This Field has limitation of 40 characters. This is the same field which has Searched associated with it. This description is what we see when we look for Stock Overview of Material in the Stores through MEMBER.
To use this 40 characters efficiently people usually come up with a guideline so that maximum and meaningful information crucial information for identification of spare part/material is VIEWED when we see it.
For example for an AC Motor the description may look like
*MOTOR AC SQ 100KW 1500 RPM 8P CLA FRXYZ
which describes AC Motor, Squirrel Cage Type, 100 KW, 1500 RPM, 8 Pole, Class A, Frame Size XYZ
Request the forum members to provide / share any guideline they might have come up with to use these 40 characters to describe different spare parts.

Hi Vinay,
We are also doing the same activity and we are arranging the material description in a manner which is almost simlar to you.
But, except one thing which is Classification. We have classification feature mapped with material master for the details of Dimension,Brand,Color and Orgin.

Problem for uplaoding sales text using LSMW

Hi,
I have use LSMW for uplaoding material masters sales and purchase order text , first I have done for purchase order text with object : MATERIAL and ID : BEST it works fine for this after that when I am trying same for uploading sales text OBJECT : MVKE and ID : 0001 it is picking file proerly and till final BDC step it is not giving any error but in material master sales text is not getting updated for that material.
what canb be the problemm
also for pO text for matnr i have given only material code 18 Chr.
and for sales text i hva egiven MATNR + SALES ORG. + DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL as it required for sales text.

Dear Zafar,
I found a similar problem while uploading Porduction order long text. May be this information is useful for you.
The common task of changing the long text of a production orderu2019s operation can bring some surprises.
The first problem that is usually encountered is that after updating the long text with the function SAVE_TEXT, the new text is not visible in standard SAP transactions like CO03. The new text can be read with the function READ_TEXT though. The trick is that SAP uses the u201Clong text existsu201D indicator, the field TXTSP in the table AFVC. To make the text u201Cvisibleu201D to standard transactions, we have to set the TXTSP value to the current language (or the textu2019s language). Unfortunately, this has to be done with the direct UPDATE on the AFVC u2013 there are no known workarounds.
Another problem can be seen when the same order is processed by users that use different languages. While SAP allows to store the long text for the same operation in several languages, actually, only one text object will be active at the same time in regard to standard transactions u2013 the object in the last saved language. That means, when SAP writes the text back, the TXTSP will be overwritten with the current language (say, language A). If the next user is working in another language (language B), SAP will present the text in the u201Cfirstu201D language (A) in the CO03 (even if the text in language B exists!). But after saving, the text will be written in the new language and TXTSP will be set accordingly.
So, when working with long texts directly, you have to read with READ_TEXT using the language stored in TXTSP, NOT with the current language. When saving, you save in the current language and set the TXTSP to the current language. This way you are consistent with what SAP does and this will prevent you from surprises in a multilingual environment.

LSMW- Material Master Performance issue

Hi All,
We are using the prgoram RMDATIND to upload material master through LSMW and having a problem of performance while using this technique.
Have 4Lak records to be uploaded in 10 hrs as it required to upload all views.
Pl advice except separate the records.Is that any option to run the file in parallal views?

I think best option is to break the file up into many chunks that can be processed in parallel. If this is not an option then you need to consider what is on the selection screen of RMDATIND, for example "Create change documents". Is this required for your purposes as this takes a lot of time.
The other thing I would suggest is to talk to your basis team because there are settings and config they can put in place to aid this load.

LSMW Material Master - create several valution types within one Run

Hello @ll,
i created a LSMW for material master migration, and i would like to create up to 4 different accounting views (based on different valuation types) within one LSMW Run.
As there is the Field BWTAR on Structure BMM00, and the accounting fields on Structure BMMH1 i dont know if:
1. this is possible in general with LSMW and
2. if possible where i have to set the "transfer_record" commands...
Does anybody have experience on this?

I never used the standard batch input method, so I cant answer this part. But with IDOC as import method I do this right now and it works without any problem
The transfer record command is set in the section of processing time __END_OF_RECORD__
you can display this section when you are in field mapping and conversion rules. choose from menu Extras > Layout and activate all boxes.

Text linkages from material master to purchase requisition

I already set the text linkage between basic data text in material master with item text in PR. I left fix indicator blank since I want the text to be adopted automatically.
I run MRP and create planned orders. Then I convert planned order to purchase requisition. Material master basic data text is not shown in purchase requisition. I tested using N and * and they both show. With N it shows (reading from material master) and I accnot modify it. With * it shows but I have to adopted to actually store the text as part of this document. With blank is not working. We want the text from material master to be automatically adopted in PR without manual intervention as with *.

If got ur query correctly : you want to make short text field in Preq as Display.
If yes then go to Tcode OLME (or SPRO) -> Purchase requistion->Define Screen layout at doc level->select ME51N--->double click basic data, item and make short text filed as display.

Possible reasons:
a) Wrong program name specified in an external PERFORM or
    SUBMIT or, when defining a new transaction, a new
    dialog module or a new function module.
b) Transport error

This is a standard behivour . No need to worry . it is not an error.It comes because you have to maintain something in sales text view if the sales view is maintained in OMS2 settings.And since it is a finished material then it will come.
It dosent allow you to go to the next view when you press enter .
you have to go to the next view using Mouse .
Just click on the next view you have to create it will allow.
then fill all the views and just save the material you will be able to save

LSMW: Material Master Data migration

I will be migrating material master data using LSMW IDOC.
I also want to migrated associated material class data.
The question is:
How do I extract the material class data so that I can load them with LSMW IDOC CLFMAS after the materials are loaded?

Hi,
You have 2 possibilities.
1. If it is 1:1 transfer for source SAP system to target SAP sytem ( without data modification ) you to establish the ALE interface and distriute by using the prg: RBDSECLF
2. If it is a transfer of CLF data between 2 SAP systems where you need to modify the data based on some rules after you extract the data from the source system, you could extrace the data from Legacy by BAPI: BAPI_OBJCL_GETDETAIL. Once you extract the data, you could process as per the reqmt, & load the data by LSMW either by DI or by IDoc method.
