Podcast Channel Artwork problems

I'm using GoDaddy QuickBlogcast to upload my podcasts. So, all I do is fill in where they tell me to in order to have my artwork show up on iTunes. The problem seems to be occurring at iTunes. At least that's what they're telling me now.
Here's our problem: iTunes has our artwork for each episode, but the channel is only showing their generic podcast image as our show when doing a search, when subscribing to the podcast, the artwork shows up as episode or the album artwork, it's the Channel that is generic. What are we doing wrong? Found out that feedburner was making some changs on the feed to make it compatible with iTunes. Since my feed already have iTunes tags, I turned the podcast feature at feedburner off and now everithing is working fine

I'm having podcast artwork problems. Please help!!

I have a podcast in my ipod classic. 45 from the same people. When I click to listen to the podcast, the artwork will be displayed while playing. It's in the main menu (where you can choose from music, video, podcasts) that my podcast artwork won't be displayed on the side. I've tried the cut and paste thing, and it's not working. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Or get my podcast artwork to be shown? Please?

Ok. I checked each podcast, and they all have artwork, the same artwork. And it's still now showing up on my ipod. When I go into my podcast, the little artwork will show and then when I click to listen the artwork will show then, too. It's just when I'm at the main menu. And I pass music, videos, and then when I get to my podcast it just says 1 podcasts.
I don't know. I'm getting really frustrated with it now. I don't know what to do anymore. It's just really bothersome.

Podcast Channel Not Showing Up In iTunes

I submitted my podcast to iTunes 3 days ago and I can manually subscribe to the podcast channel but it is not showing up in iTunes itself.

The feed is fine and the image is correctly embedded in the episode I checked (the latest one); it appears when subscribing in iTunes.
As I don't have an iPhone or an iPod Touch I can't check its behaviour there, and I don't know how these devices are supposed to handle this.
However there are two points about the image which might be an issue, though I don't know: its size is 691 x 691 - it should be 600 x 600: this isn't a problem in iTunes, but as I say I don't know whether it might affect an iPhone. Also the resolution is 180ppi - this is pretty academic on a computer, but normally it would be 72 ppi. You could try changing one of the images - of course you would have to re-upload the media file - and see whether it helps.
If it doesn't your best bet would be to ask in the iPhone Forum where someone would be able to check this for you.
One further point: your episodes are missing the 'itunes:duration' tag which should contain the duration as h:mm:ss - this doesn't prevent the episode from playing correctly, but the durations won't show in the Store or in subscribing (until the episode is fully downloaded).

Ablum artwork problems

First off sorry for the way I'm posting but I can't find the make new thread button for some reasson.
Second, I'm going to be talking about audible files in itunes and ipod.
Itunes have the right artwork in it, but when I bring it up on my ipod it gives me a different one and I go to another one to see and sometimes it the right one and sometimes it not, but then I went back to see if the artwork was fine for the one I just check and it changed to another artwork that doesn't relate to the area at all. Everytime I do this it rotates the artwork or something. The only thing I did differnetly was I enable the disk function on it and it seemed like it froze so I unpluged it. I know that I should have unplugged it but it wasn't working it seemed like and it was late.
Got any ideas how to fix this problem. It only seems to be with the audible files on the ipod. The purchased and podcast files are fine as fall as I can see. Thanks for the help.

If your iPod is set to update automatically give this a try , it usually sorts out wrong artwork problems:
1. Connect your iPod
2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes.
4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
5. Syncronise the iPod again.

The podcast channel on iTunes Store cannot sync the new program with my podcast homepage

I am the owner of a podcast named Sidetalk. Since lat month, the podcast channel on iTunes Store cannot sync the new program with my podcast homepage, and even show the owner as UNKNOWN.
Could you fix it? Or let me know how to modify the information.

Although episodes up to 1 November show when subscribing the feed comes up empty when examined in FireFox, and FeedValidator complains of a problem in line 28 - it's in the space after the comma (or possibly before it) here -

I can't see what this might be - perhaps you managed to get a word processing invisible code character into it: I can only suggest you delete that section and retype it.
It's odd that it's appearing when subscribing but not in FireFox, but it does seem likely that this is blocking the Store from updating.

301 episodes show in the Store; the feed has a further 21 older episodes. You have reached the limit allowed in the iTunes Store - 301 - and when you add any newer episodes older ones will no longer be shown in the Store (though they will show and be available to subscribers). There is no way round this.

Why do my Podcast episodes appear within a few hours on my iTunes Podcast channel, but they sometimes take DAYS to appear in the iTuned PC Client software?

I've got a strange situation where my iTunes podcast channel has published podcast episodes appearing on the website a few hours after release, but the podcast episode does not appear in the iTuned client software on a PC / Mac for multiple days? This appears to have gotten worse in the last month or so
Any comments or suggestions, anyone, other than having Jobs to a ressurection trick ?

I'm afraid I can't advise on Windows software. I can't see any reason why it should behave differently from iTunes on a Mac: it's reading exactly the same data. Sometimes the Store is slow to catch up, so that new episodes can take a few days to appear (though they appear immediately when subscribing) but that isn't the case here as the Store matches the feed.
As this is evidently a problem with accessing the podcast, rather than creating it, you could ask in the iTunes for Windows forum.

Output channel mapping problem for surround encoder

hello, i am trying to mix a movie i made into 5.1. when i open the surround encoder, go to the audio hardware setup and try to set my output channel mapping i only get two speakers. i have a card that supports 5.1, 5.1 speakers, and get surround sound when i play a DVD. yet audition only recognizes my left and right speaker. any help on how i get my output channel mapping set correctly?

My card is a creative x-fi extreme gamer. It has 3 line out jacks and one line in jack. T Oh, here it is in the manual...thats just not good enough.
But what is the surround encoder dialog box doing, if not encoding surround mixes? The manual says I can exportsurround sound from a multitrack session.

Just to be clear about terminology: a podcast is the overall wrapper for a number of episodes. People often refer to episodes as podcasts, and that way lies confusion.
Any one podcast can have several categories in the 'itunes:category' tag, as explained here:

The tag or tags chosen apply to the entire podcast - you can't have different categories for individual episodes - and are more of an aid when searching than anything else. (Though looking at a category brings up only 'featured podcasts', not all of them, so your may well not appear.)
Something you can do, which may or may not help you, is create several separate podcasts (with their own collection of episodes) and then get an 'aggregating' page in the Store which shows them all - see the bottom item on this page.

Exporting AAC m4a podcast mime type problem

Hi All,
I have a podcast that I use GB3 to produce the enhanced podcast with (artwork podcast with links).
When I upload this file to my server it shows up as application/octet-stream for mime type. The extension is still m4a but the desktop icon is now a quicktime movie whereas in the past it was always an iTunes icon, when I used ChapterToolMe, for instance.
As a result my podcast/rss feed on the iTMS no longer updates the more recent shows (i've tried all the tricks to get that end of things working)
I'm guessing there is some setting in GB3 that is changing the mime-type behind the scenes under the GUI. Can anyone suggest anything? Converting in iTunes all over again?

I wonder if you've found a solution yet? I'm having the same issue with my picture and link enhanced podcast. Whenever i post an m4a to my RSS feed, it breaks my subscription in iTunes????
I hope someone has some knowledge on a fix for this.

How to 'group' my many Podcast Channels?

Hi all,
I have so many different Podcast Channels that I'd like to be able to group them so that when I'm in a certain mood (Sci-Fi, Science, Greenie, History, etc), I can click on the 'group's column and it will sort according to that category or group of Podcast channels. I've added a Group tag to each main podcast, but can't seem to view the different Podcast channels in a neat window. Is there a way to do this? It only seems to work by Group in the Music folder, and that's for individual songs/ podcast episodes. I want to be able to select only the History podcasts channels, and quickly browse through what the different channels are doing and what shows are coming.
Grouping individual shows in the Music folder helps you find stuff you've already downloaded.
But being able to sort all your podcast channels by group helps you find the new stuff you don't yet know you want to download, and it would help me find it fast! Does this make any sense?

I'm trying out Safari on my vista pc. However, it won't save my bookmarks. I imported them allover from IE7, but when i close and reopen my bookmarks, they all disappear. It also won'tsave any new ones!

Trying to change Title of my Podcast (Channel) And Add picture

I am trying to figure out how to change the name of my Podcast, Channel, not episodes. And I am at a loss! Also, how do you add a picture for your podcast? If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!

The title of a podcast is carried in the 'title' tags in the top section of the feed (between the 'channel' tag and the first 'item' tag'.
The podcast image is carried in the 'itunes:image' tag in the same area, which should take the format:
<itunes:image href="URL OF AN IMAGE FOR THE PODCAST" />
The URL must be absolute (i.e. include http:// and the server name).
The images which appear when subscribing have to be embedded in the actual media files - see here.

Podcast channel not currently accessible, please help

Hi,
We've submitted a podcast channel a while back but for some unknown reason it give me an error on the store and now we are unable to remove or submit again. This is the link I get on the store channel http://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/peerview-gastroenterol for that particular channel. When trying to access I get a message saying, "The item you've requested is not currently available in the Canadian Store." but we haven't define any restriction and after trying with a US account we get the same thing.

In fact it appears that the Store is using the feed at
http://feeds.feedburner.com/globalhousesessions.xml
However in either case the image is correctly referenced: the Store can be quite sticky sometimes about images and I'm afraid that there isn't really anything you can do except wait. You could try complaning to them at podcasts 'at' apple.com but you'll very likely get a form answer telling you to include an image, which you already know. Might be worth trying, though.

IPOD w/video album artwork problems

Im having trouble with my Ipod displaying the wrong artwork (the artwork of other albums)when I view the artwork in Itunes its fine yet on my Ipod its somehow different.
If anyone else has experienced this problem or knows how to fix it please help.

Anyhow, if you were getting the chkdsk problem, you will want to restore. That should also help with the artwork problem...
