Poor Image Quality when Printing PDF from Office 07 using Acrobat 9 Pro Ext

Hi there,
Hoping to figure out why my images (jpegs, gifs, pngs, etc) seem to print in very poor quality when printing from Powerpoint and Word 2007?
When I actually print out the pdf onto paper, the images seem fine. The image quality is also good in Word and Excel
I did not have this problem using Office 2003 products.
Is this a common problem? I realize that the problem maybe Office related but any help or information appreciated.
Thanks

If the images' file format is PNG or TIFF you could play with the compression settings available in Acrobat's Preferences.
Edit > Preferences > select the Category "Convert to PDF".
In the"Converting To PDF" pane, select PNG or TIFF.
Then, click on the Edit Settings" button.
For either image format you could try one of the Lossless compression routines.
Be well...

  • Poor image quality when viewing PDFs in Digital Editions

I recently bought a digital copy of a book in the .acsm file format.  The site I bought it from recommended using Digital Editions.  I am on a mac, OS X 10.6.3.  When viewing this book, there are various screen shots that are essentially illegible in the single or double page format.  If I use the zoom feature they become more legible but still of low quality.  At first I thought it was the ebook I bought but I think it's Digital Editions, actually.  As a test I opened a plain 'ol PDF in Preview that had some screenshots in it - and those looked good.  Viewing the same PDF in Digital Editions though, the images were again of low quality.
Digital Editions doesn't seem to have preferences (like most OS X apps) that might allow me to tweak this.  Is there something that can be changed in terms of settings to make the images clearer?
Also, as an aside, Digital Editions on the Mac seems to have some delay when I try to copy things from the text.   I have to hold the command + c keys longer than I would otherwise in order to get the highlighted text to be copied.

In iTunes with you iPod connected select the Photos tab and check *Include full-resolution photos* and re-sync.

  • Poor Image Quality when printing in Pages

I created small (150 x 100 pixel at 72 dpi) images for printing on a one-page flyer in Pages. I dragged and dropped them into place, and things look great on the monitor. But when I print (using a Canon MX310) all-in-one, the images look bad - they are not looking crisp and sharp like they should. I have done everything on my printer settings I can - setting it to FINE quality, photo paper, etc. but they still look bad. Any ideas? I had tried this same thing in InDesign but there I got definitely jagged images on output. The images are TIFFs. I tried a different Canon ip3500 desktop printer, but to no avail.

    You need +at least+ 200dpi.
300dpi is recommended to get fine detail.
The size of the image has nothing to do with it, it is how many pixels you have per inch on the page.
Obviously 72dpi has chunky pixels that you can see with your naked eye.
The other thing is where did you get the images from? If they came from the Web then they are probably highly compressed and have compression artifacts which are painfully obvious when printing.
Just changing formats is not going to do anything. What's that they say about a sow's ear…?

  • I'm getting poor image quality when rendering PDF grahics

I have a PAL 1920x1080 50i ProRes 422 timeline, when I add PDF images from a Power Point I have to enlarge them about 100% to fill the frame adequately. When these clips are rendered they end up with the text loosing definition and showing jpeg like artifacts. They are 1006x760 pixels. Is there a solution? Should I go back and try to get hold of the original slides?

Thanks everyone for the help, in the end I bought a PP/PDF converter and made TIFFs from them. (Tinyware PDF Converter)  Not great but better than before. It was the fact that the image appeared fine in the canvas until I rendered it, it was only then that the text looked bad. This extractor seems to work ok, the methods on various blogs only worked if you have Office for Mavericks, Page extracts PPs but not to image files.
    Thanks again.

  • Has anyone had issues with poor image quality when using lightroom to process raw images from Canon 7dmk2

    Hi everyone..
..I have been having image quality issues when using Lightroom to process raw files from a 7d mk2... They are all soft with poor clarity.....tonight in despair I tried processing them  using  canon's software and they are totally different..."much better"
    anyone else had similar problems....Andy

I have a 7D2 and have not had what I interpret as poor image quality that has anything to do with the camera.
Can you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing and what specifically you don’t like?  Maybe there is something you can do differently or at least there may be an explanation for what you’re seeing.
And if you have a raw image that you wouldn’t mind sharing in a public forum, upload to http://www.dropbox.com/ then post a public share link to it in a reply, here.
In other words post a screenshot of what you see in LR, another of what you see using DPP, and a link to the raw file you’re processing.

  • Really poor image quality when watching DVDs

    Hi,
I was just wondering whether anybody else has experienced really poor image quality whilst watching DVDs on their MacBook? For me, the image is really grainy or blurry. I am pretty sure it cannot be the DVDs as this problem is happening with every film I watch!
Is this a common problem? What can be done (if anything) to resolve this?
    Many thanks,
    John

    Hi John,
open system preference>display, and check if your color depth is in millions color.
try other dvd player like VLC for mac:

  • Error when print report from apex using apex listener 2

    Hi
    Apex 4.2
I want print report to pdf from apex using apex listener 2.
The print server 'Oracle APEX listener' has been defined at the instance-level.
    ACL has been configured.
I attempt to download a report in PDF mode, it appears that it downloads,
but when I go to open it up I get an error that the file is of the wrong type or possibly corrupt.
Upon opening the file in Text editor, there is an error as below
    %PDF-1.4
    1 瀛楄妭鐨?UTF-8 搴忓垪鐨勫瓧鑺?1 鏃犳晥銆?

If you use Windows the user that runs the reports server is usually LocalSystem. Check this in the Windows Services panel.
LocalSystem has no printer access. To be able to print, you have to use a real domain user that has access to the printer. So, change the Log on properties in the Services panel.

  • Compress tagged PDF from commandline w/ Acrobat Pro X or Distiller

    Hi,
I'd like to use acrobat pro or distiller from the commandline to open a tagged pdf, optimize/compress it, and then close it. It would be helpful to run the accessibility reports this way too, but is not essential. I've read through the distiller API and javascript API and can't find information on how to do this.
    Any help would be appreciated—thanks,

  • Creating PDF from scanner with Acrobat Pro 10

Hello, I'm trying to scan a document into pdf using acrobat pro 10. Whatever selection I make I always get the dialog message "scanning cancelled"! Does anybody have a clue what is going on here.
    I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits.
I also have multiple scanning devices available but it makes no difference which one I select.

Use the software that came with the scanner, save as TIF, then use Acrobat to convert the TIF to PDF

  • How does I resize a pdf file page using Acrobat Pro?

In Acrobat Pro, how can one resize a pdf file page (21.38'' x 26.75'') into one measuring 6'' x 9'', to be submitted as the trim size? Is there a feature that allows this to be done? How does one set all print options from the Application print dialog box to enable one to adjust the dimensions of any customized file page?

I want to scale the 21.4'' by 26.8'' content down to one that can be fitted inside a 6'' by 9'' book.
I have this pdf that was created from the InkFlow app, and I'm using Acrobat Pro to merge three files into one (about 300MB), which I needed to submit to Amazon's CreateSpace, but they needed the trim size of 6'' by 9'', while the pdf is 21.4''' by 26.8'', and I can't amend the source file size of the InkFlow files.
I tried fiddling with the Crop and Print options, but I'm unable to resize the pdf to match the trim size. The problem on my side isn't so much on printing but to resize the pdf file page to 6'' by 9'' to satisfy Amazon's requirement for their trim size. Could this be done with Acrobat Pro? The message that appears is: Full print options of Acrobat Pro, set all print options from the Application print dialog box. Thank for the help.

  • Poor image quality when exporting Solidworks Drawings to PDF

When "printing" to PDF in Solidworks the drawings become very low quality, within Solidworks they look great, printing to a printer...they look great as well. When printed from another computer to PDF the documents look fine.
This door is contained within the drawing I am trying to print (not the actual assembly) THAT is how it turns out in the actual PDF. note how the straight lines are broken up.  I have tried to adjust print settings within Adobe to High Quality and no change. What other settings can I look into to resolve this issue??? It is definitely isolated to my pc alone.

    Hi M0lsen,
What version of Acrobat are you using? Do PDFs from other applications exhibit similar issues? And when you print to PDF from the other computer, is the setup there the same (same version of Acrobat, same version of Solidworks)?
    Best,

  • Poor image quality when displaying OLE Word object in PDF

MS Word 2007 OLE object in Crystal Reports XII R2 designer...looks OK in designer.  When we export to PDF, the image quality has been degraded significantly.  Anybody had this issue before?  tried replacing usp10.dll with one found in CommonFiles folder, that did not help.

It's for CR 9 so you'll have to browse to the CR XI registry structure.
Otherwise try all of the patches for CR XI R2:
Keep your Keycode and then uninstall XI R2, unless you are on SP 4 then just apply SP 5 and 6:

  • Poor image quality when played from dvd just burned

I exported a FCP file from FCP using Compressor using several variations: uncompressed, compressed MPEG2 etc... brought the file into DVDSP and burned it to a DVD. when i play it from the dvd on my computer monitor it has these terrible lines and there are dropped frames occassionally. It doesnt look that way when I play it directly from DVDSP or from FCP only from the dvd. What is the problem here and how do I get a dvd whose quality matches the original?

All video brought into DVDSP for authoring is converted to the same format for DVDs, MPEG2.
Your "terrible lines" are probably interlacing artifacts. Look up interlacing in the manual. they always look worse on a computer monitor since that's a progressive display.
Stuttering can be caused by tons of oddball glitches, no way ot even start guessing from where I'm sitting.
but the whole process of going form FCP to DVDSP successfully is clearly and exhaustively explained in about 100 pages of the manuals and, yes, it really can be that complicated.

  • Poor image quality when scanning coins with officejet pro 8600 plus

I recently upgraded my printer from an HP 2210 to and HP officejet pro 8600 plus. image quality on coin scans is terrible.
I have tried scanning both with the HP software and with windows 7 fax and scan software
I have saved images as BMP, JPG, PNG, and TIFF
I have used resolutions from 300 dpi to 1200 DPI
All give me similar unacceptable results.
Images are better when scanned flat on the scanner than when in slabbed holders, and from this I am guessing that the plastic is somehow interfering wiht the scan. Either that, or there is a very shallow depth of field so that even moving the coin a few mm away from the glass moves it out of focus. But even a raw coin placed directly on the glass has significantly worse image quality than the old 2100.
The first image is  a coin scanned with the old 2100. The second has been scanned in a similar slab by the  8600

    Hi terry_renee,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I am happy to help you with this scanning issue! I did a test with an HP Officejet 8600, at 1200 dpi, and no plastic covering. Just the quarter on the glass, and we cropped it to the quarter. This is the result.
I have a few questions for you:
What Operating System are you using for scanning? Windows or Mac? What version?
What scanning software are you using?
Are you scanning from the computer, or the printer's control panel?
Hope to hear back from you, and have a great day!
