POP3 access problem

hi,
imsimta version is
Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-5.02 (built Oct 12 2007; 32bit)
libimta.so 6.3-5.02 (built 17:15:31, Oct 12 2007; 32bit)
SunOS P1192FLPLN 5.9 Generic_118558-02 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire
We have a mailbox allocated to a user who uses pop3 service.
Our server has been pointed to an external gateway ,but the user has configured his pop3 client to send mail via another gateway.
He is experiencing slow delivery of mails.
Is their anyway we can check the logs for his mails been sent.
Also is their any command utility with which we can monitor the messaging server continuously
I am quite skeptical in our case that we will able to find any log for our case, so posting this query
thanks in advance.

Our server has been pointed to an external gatewaySending (SMTP) and accessing email (POP) are two completely independent operations.
What is this 'external gateway' you are talking about - is this for POP access (some kind of proxy/MMP) or for SMTP access/outgoing relay?
,but the user has configured his pop3 client to send mail via another gateway. Who maintains/runs this 'other' gateway? Does this mean the customer is not uploading/sending emails to the Sun Messaging Server that they have their account on?
He is experiencing slow delivery of mails. Does this occur if they send emails via the Sun Messaging System, if not how is this a Sun Messaging Server problem?
Also does 'slow delivery' mean it takes a long time to upload (send) or a long time to be delivered into their account?
Is their anyway we can check the logs for his mails been sent. Only if the system being sent to is owned/maintained by yourself. If the customer is sending emails to a third-party then it won't be logged since your system knows nothing about it.
Also is their any command utility with which we can monitor the messaging server continuously Monitor what exactly?
We provide an SNMP interface for monitoring various parameters about messaging server (queues, processes up/down that sort of thing).
I am quite skeptical in our case that we will able to find any log for our case, so posting this queryWell if they upload email via a third-party how is this your problem/fault? You could check the received headers of a 'slow' email to determine where the delay may be.

Shane.

When the installation is done according to the documentation,
web access does not work because the scripts that add entries to
the jserv.properties file add duplicate references to
    wrapper.env and wrapper.classpath. Look at the jserv.properties
file below and look at the remarked-out (#) lines of the
duplicate references. For example, look at the references to the
    wrapper.env=LD_LIBRARY_PATH
Oracle, please note this bug so the web access problems are
minimized when the product is intstalled.
    Thank you,

  • RE: Database (SQL-SERVER) access problem

Have you used NT Control Panel/ ODBC to set up the ODBC data source name?
You have to define the data source (database) SecTrade as well as the
driver to be used (SQL Server). This can be done by selecting the Add
button on the Data Sources screen in Control Panel/ ODBC.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Forte-Users,
We have a setup a Sql-Server database on a NT server. In the Forte
    EConsole,
    we have
setup a ODBC-type Resource for this server, named SERVER2_ODBC. This NT
    server
is configured as a Client Node in the active Forte environment. Note
    that
    Server2 is not
the Forte server, but has Forte installed. There is another NT server
    which
    acts as the
Forte server. NODEMGR and Sql-Server are running on SERVER2.
In our application, we have a DBSession SO with the database source
as SERVER2_ODBC, Userid=ForteInstructor. When running the application,
    Forte
throws an exception, the gist of it being as follows:
USER ERROR: (This error was converted)
Failed to connect to database: SecTrade, username: ForteInstructor.
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no
    default
    driver specified
    We have tried
    1) Installing ODBC drivers on the NT server (Server2)
    2) Accessing local databases from Forte clients which works fine
    3) Accessing the Sql-Server database through Isqlw (Sql-Server Client
    s/w) -
    It works.
Could someone suggest what we should try to get rid of this problem?
    Thanks for any help,

  • Write access problem with external Storage Device Connected to macbook

    Hi All,
I have write access problem ( gives only read-access, but no write access) with an external HDD device (NTFS formatted ) connected to my macbook.
Could anyone suggest me a file system ( apart from FAT32) which is compatiable with both Mac OS as well windows ;also this file system should allow me to create partitions of size more than 100 GB
(My external storade devcie capacity is 500 GB )
    Thanks
    Nelson

    Hi Nelson,
simply said there is no such file system.
Regardless what you choose, only FAT32 is fully read-/writeable from both Mac OSX and Windows.
Third-Party helper for access to certain file systems are:
MacDrive (for Windows using HFS+, the OSX file system)
MacFuse with 3G (for fully usage of NTFS in OSX)
Paragon NTFS for OSX (also for fully usage of NTFS in OSX)
Only MacFuse is freeware, the other two are Commercial apps.
And just in case you are thinking of any Linux file system, like Ext3 or ReiserFS, you will at least need driver for Windows if not also for OSX (not sure about that).

  • TFS 2013: Access problem when adding a AD group to members

    Hi there!
I have a big access problem. It seems I cant log into TFS if I add a AD group to a collection but I can log in if I add single users from the same group.
EDIT: The group I want to add is from another domain. Maybe thats the reason for the problem?
Any ideas? I dont want to add 150 users one by one ;)

    Hi John
I will try to answer your questions :)
There’s two domains, TFSdomain and Userdomain, right? - Yes
The TFSdomain one way trust to Userdomain? - Yes
If you add a single account(Userdomain) into your TFS Server, this single account(Userdomain) can connect to TFS Web Access or your account can connect to TFS Web Access? Your account and this single account(Userdomain) are not the same account? -
I have two accounts, one User domain accout and one TFS domain account that is TFS administrator. If I use the TFS domain account to add the User domain account as a project group member this user domain account will be able to access the TFS web access
    from the user domain.
If you add an AD group(Userdomain) into your TFS Server, the user in this AD group(Userdomain) will cannot access TFS Web Access or your account cannot access TFS Web Access? Your account and this user are the same account? Or your account included in this
AD group(Userdomain) too? - The user domain:s "domain users" group includes my user domain account. If I add the user domain:s "domain users" group as a project group member in TFS (with my domain user) my user domain account will
not be able to access the TFS web access from the user domain.
When connect to TFS Web Access failed, what’s the error message you received? - There is no error message, I am only asked to log in again.
If you cannot access TFS Web Access, how did you add AD group(Userdomain) into your TFS Server? Or once you added the AD group(Userdomain) into TFS Server, you will cannot access TFS Web Access immediately? Your account is a Userdomain user? -
I added it with my TFS user domain administer account
    The scenario is as follows:
I have a one way trust from tfs domain to user domain.
I add a user domain account as a project group member in TFS. Now this account is granted access to the project using the TFS web access client.
    I remove the user again.
I add the users domain:s "domain users" group (where my user domain account is included) as a project group member in TFS. Now my user account is
not granted access to the project using the TFS web access client.
Hope this will spread some light on the problem.
    Thanks Stefan

  • Magic Mouse accessibility problem

Have discovered an accessibility problem with the Magic Mouse. My right hand middle (right click) finger is heavily bandaged at the moment. Mouse will not accept right clicks, even all the way on the edge. Interprets them as left/single button click. Went to Universal Access in System Preferences, and there is no solution. This seems like an obvious issue for people with prosthetics, so I don't understand why Apple designers missed this.

    yerdle,
It's not the best of solutions but you can hold the Control key down while you click and it will perform a right click.

  • Security Upgrade 2007-002 (PPC) created website access problems?

I recently installed this upgrade, and I think it may be causing interference accessing certain websites, namely motleyfool.com, hotmail.com, and firstrade.com. I'm having this difficulty on multiple machines.
Is anyone else having this same problem?

Yes, and a little relieved to see I'm not the only one. I installed the upgrade 3 days ago, and I'm having major website access problems (including the one from the website co. I WORK for) and it has totally messed up my Entourage accounts. I can't send/receive any mail from one, and only intermittently from the other. Almost 2 hours with an Apple tech earlier to be told that the problem is probably with the upgrade and the only way to fix it is to archive and install. That seem like a nightmare, I'll have to reinstall everything I've installed in the last 2 years and update, customize, etc. Anyone have a better solution? Please, I'm desperate.

  • POP3 access

    Hi,
I am sadly not familiar with pop3 settings in an exchange environment, so i was hoping someone could help me out a bit :)
We have a client who uses some old software that only supports sending mail thru unencrypted pop3 access. I'm assuming this means that the default port 110 and SMTP port 25 will be used. There are no options in client software to change this.
Since the client would like to use the software to connect to a certain mailbox in the Exchange environment using pop3 access, i would have to enable this on the Exchange Server. The pop3 services are running, and the users mailbox is enabled for pop access.
What i am having trouble with is configuring the following settings:
    -UnEncryptedorTSLSettings : 0.0.0.0:110
    -InternalConnectionSettings: xxx.xxx.xx:110
    -ExternalConnectionSettings: xx.xxx.xx:110
    -Logintype: PlainTextLogin
Now, the -ExternalConnectionSettings is really not important since this is only going to be used internally at the clients site. Put for own testing purposes i would like to temporarily enable this.
I'm a bit of loss of what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First i would recommend running Get-PopSettings | fl and see the pop settings first and alter them accordingly.
Run this command to enable pop Set-CasMailbox -Identity User_Name -PopEnabled $True
Just ensure that is set to -Logintype: PlainTextLogin
and ensure internal connection settings is set to -InternalConnectionSettings: xxx.xxx.xx:110
since you setup is unencrypted internal access  you need not worry about opening any ports in the firewall as you said POP access is for only internal app which connects to few mbx's internally

  • Work around for iPhone POP3 Server Problems

A common problem that people seem to be having (checking other discussion forums) is that once an e-mail account is active on the iPhone, they have real problems sending e-mails for that account from their Mac or PC. I had that problem too. After some technical research, here is the cause:
    1. Your e-mail service provider's POP3 server runs a simple UNIX protocol that only allows a single client to access it at a time - i.e. the PC/MAC mail client or the mobile device, but never both at the same time.
    2. Provided that the PC/MAC mail client and the mobile mail client don't access the POP3 server too often and that they are quick, then it's not a problem.
    3. If they check too often or are slow to release the POP3 server, then obviously the probability of clashes and lockouts increases.
    4. There is quite a bit of discussion on the web that points to the iPhone not releasing the POP3 server quickly - in fact it can hang on for a long time
    5. This results in the PC e-mail client reporting incorrect password constantly, driving you nuts (that's tech talk)
BUT HERE IS A SIMPLE, FLAWLESS WORKAROUND:
    1. You create a new e-mail account for myself (either with your existing provider, or a free provider like gmail)
    2. You configure your main e-mail account to send a copy of incoming e-mails to that new e-mail account (whilst retaining a copy for the main account) - most paid service providers will let you do this.
    3. You do NOT set that new account up on your PC/MAC e-mail client, only on your iPhone. When you do that, in the POP Account Information" panel, you use your main e-mail address and not your new, duplicate address. In the "Incoming MAil Server" section of the set up, you use the username/password of the new, duplicate account. That way you receive stuff from that account, but when you send, it comes from your main account. Cool huh?!
    4. That way, it doesn't matter how long the iPhone hangs on to the account - it's simply a duplicate account that no other client comes along to access. Ever.
    5. Outgoing mail is not a problem, since this fault does not exist with the SMTP server protocol, only with the incoming POP3 server.
    ENJOY!

    Hi Jeff
Well Jeff, I must bow my head in shame.  I've had this love and  hate relationship with Adobe for many years, and don't even mention the name Matrox in the same sentence or I will go off the wall! However, this is apparently operator error.  Man do I feel like an idiot!  (Sorry Adobe for being so nasty with you.  Peace!)
The bottom line is, Black Magic does not, and has never claimed to support Encore.
If I would of read all of the installation instructions I would of seen that.  Here is a list of the 3rd party software that the Intensity pro does support.  I've seen this list several times, but never really looked for Encore in that list of apps.  I guess I just assumed that if it worked in Premiere Pro, that it would also work in Encore especially Since Encore is Married to Premiere Pro.  Then the other thing that helps to confuse the issue is that Black Magic is one of the external options which show up inside Encores Audio/Video output preferences.  One would just assume if it showed up there, that it should work, but that's not the case.

I have a very strange problem with my sharepoint foundation 2010 site.
I have a site which is accessible from outside on https (we have a valid certificate). I configured IIS for http and https.
Also I configured internal and externel access for this site on sharepoint.
But sometimes, the site is not accessible from outside on https with (externe.site.fr), BUT  it will be accessible with public ip !!!
And also accessible from inside. (with interne.intranet.site.fr)
    Any Idea ?
    thanks

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that your site is not accessible from outside using external host name with https sometimes.
As your site can be accessible with public IP, however it can’t be accessible from outside using external host name with https sometimes, the issue could be caused by the gateway server in your environment.
I suggest that you need to check the gateway server configuration.
