Port Forwarding - DSL-2750B router

Anyone know how to set port forwarding on the Verizon D-Link DSL-2750B router?  The menu is very different from the other modem/routers.

#3 Record down that IP Address.
#4 In the router go to System -> Monitor -> Network.
#5 In there, make sure that one of the IP Address(es) in there is the same IP Address that you recorded at step 3.
#6 In the router go to System -> Universal Plug and Play (UPnP™)
#7 If you do not have at least two special computers that support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) where you can not define the ports that they use, turn off UPnP in the router.
A perfect example. At least two game consoles. Any two (Two Xboxes, two Playstations, One Xbox and one Playstation).
#8 If you have at least two special computers that support UPnP where you can not define the ports that they use: Do only use one at a time OR are there times when at least two are on?
#9 If you have at least two computers but you don't know if you have at least two special computers that
support Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) where you can not define the ports that they use, describe your network to me including the brand and model of the device(s) from your modem combo (Zyxel P-2602HWT-F1) inwards (away from the Internet).
Note - by brand and model: This assumes that you did not build your own equipment...
For example, there are people who buy the parts for their computer(s) and then build their computer(s).
More info is online about what parts to buy and how to assemble a computer, if you don't want to buy a computer.
That info could be found with Google (or your favorite search engine) with the search for build own computer.

#3 The other end of that wire is connected to the uplink port of my Dynex DX-EHB4 ver 3.0
#4 No other wires, other than a power supply line and a phone line are connected to the my Westell 6100F.

  • Port Forwarding Comcast Modem/Router for enabling ...

The process of port forwarding seems long and complicated. Is the Freetalk Connect Me phone adapter, which is no longer offered by Skype, worth it? I'd like to begin using my Skype service and use Comcast only for internet. The modem/router I use now has two phone ports. Will default settings in Skype allow me to use this modem?

Skype's standard service doesn't natively support SIP, only through the use of the connect service which is pricier.  The failure was my experience,  it may not be the same for you, whatever software or hardware issues create the problem might be addressed in the newer releases.  I guess I will find out over time.  I'm still slowly trying to figure out if they are repairable and I've been partially successful.  One other similar device is the Soundwin SP110.  Someone posted what I think is the most reasonable price I have seen it for.(http://global.pchome.com.tw/english/?m=item&f=exhibit&IT_NO=DSAD04-A64453055).  It's getting better with firmware updates, but I personally don't own one.

  • Port Forwarding in WRT54GL Router does not work

When i forward ports in the firware it does not work correctly. I tested it using http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and it still said that the port was closed.

Who is your ISP. When you do port forwarding make sure you have entered the IP address of the computer for which you need to enable port forwarding. Under "Security" Tab uncheck "Block Anonymous Internet Request" and click on Save Settings. After this try testing if that port is opened or not. What ports numbers you are trying to open on your router.

  • Port Forwarding on a Router

I'm getting quite frustrated with ARD 2.2. I'm trying to use ARD over the internet to teach my parents how to use their iMacs. I have all of the Network and Sharing settings turned on at their end, which isn't easy to accomplish since they are novice users 1500 miles away. I can use ARD to access and control the macs on my local network, but every time I input my parent's IP addresses, I get the message "Verify Failed", and it can't be because I have the wrong User Name or Password.
I've read a lot about port forwarding for macs behind a router and I may need to do it. But it seems like everyone but me knows how to forward a port and nobody has given step-by-step instructions on how to do this. So I have some questions.
    1. I have a Linksys router on my end and a MacSense router on theirs. Do I need to enable Port Forwarding on both routers?
    2. When I enter their IP addresses, their computers are "seen" by ARD. How can it "see" these computers if the port forwarding is not enabled?
    3. My Linksys router has a web page that controls it, but nowhere is there a "Port Forwarding" option. Where is this located? Is it called by another name? Does it have something to do with NAT? How exactly do you "adjust" NAT settings to open a port?
All the macs in question are using OS 10.4.5 or 10.4.6. My version of ARD is 2.2. Here is the line of connection between their macs and mine:
Parent's iMac : MacSense Router : Cable Modem : INTERNET : Cable Modem : Linksys Router : 4 Port Hub : Airport Extreme Base Station : Powerbook G4.
I would appreciate any suggestions at this point. Thanks!

Things have taken a turn for the worse. After my last solution, we found that my Mom's iMac could not send email. She could receive mail and surf the internet, but not send. The problem showed up as soon as I mucked about with the router ports. She has a .Mac account, btw.
To complicate things, my ARD connection shows my Dad's iMac, not Mom's. I could connect to Dad's iMac through ARD but not Mom's. Only if we shut down Dad's iMac could I connect to Mom's. The odd thing was the connection I was getting to Mom's iMac was listed as Dad's computer!
I have read that ARD can only connect to one computer behind a router. No biggie, I'll just have them turn one off when I use the other. But how to solve the send email problem?
I decided to use the DMZ (De-Militarized-Zone) setting of their router to open all ports on one IP address. When I did this we could finally see my Mom's iMac with her proper name in ARD. But joy was short lived because my control and observe attempts failed. I get the message "Connection Failed to XXX" where XXX is the name of Mom's iMac. Adding insult to injury, the mail still won't send.
ARD shows the Current Application, Current User and Status (Available). I can send messages through ARD and they are received successfully (they can see the messages on their end).
If I can get this far, why can't I observe? And what happened to the sending of email? Help me Obi Won Kanobi - you're my only hope!

  • Cannot Port Forward RV042 in "Router" Mode

I use an RV042 exclusively as our VPN host to our main network for branch office connectivity. The RV042 is configured in Router Mode and does not provide Internet / NAT access to the LAN. I would like to add an additional role to this unit by having it Port Forward web requests to an internal Web Server. It appears that the router cannot do Port Forwarding while configured in Router mode; can you confirm this to be true? Is there a work around or an alternate configuration that would allow me to port forward web requests from the Internet to my Internal Web Server and still keep the RV042 in Router only mode?
    Thanks

    Mike,
The port forwarding feature only works in the context of NAT. This is true for all small business routers.

  • How to DHCP port forward on Dlink Router

    Greetings,
I have 3 computers on a LAN. Powerbook G4 (Mac OSX Server 10.4.11), Macbook Lepoard (OSX 10.5.2), and Windows XP. I have Dlink Wireless Router (DIR-625). My Powerbook is connected to router via ethernet cable. the others connect wireless.
i want to use Powebook G4 running server to act has DHCP Server, and NAT. Currently, I setup Dlink to act as a Wireless Access Point by turning of router's DHCP server. I assigned Powerbook a static IP address then turned on DHCP server with DHCP ranges. (no overlapping). Then I assigned Dlink a ip address outside of the range. I turned off everything. Then turned on devices in this order.
    1. Router
    2. PowerBook
    3. Other computers
When I check my Macbook connection. It self-assigns IP and does receive DHCP from Server. I checked all settings. But no luck. Is there another way to do this? should i be port forwarding instead?
    Confused
    Thank you

  • Can implement port forwarding using win2003 routing and remote acccess?

    I have a sql server 2005 with a  internet ip address b and a computer onwindows 2003 with a internet ip address a .
Now I want to use address "a" 's 14330 port to access sql server 2005 on ip address "b" with port 1433.
I use router and remote access to implement this, but fail.
in every server only have a adaptor and a ip.
    How to do it?
Please tell me how to implement it from "routing and remote access" in detail.
    I dont want use netsh.

    Hi,
I think this will not work. As we know, when a source computer send a request to SQL server, the packet should contain the following information.
Source IP and port number (this port is a randomly generated)
Destination IP and port 1433 (SQL by default)
So we cannot control which port to use when connecting another service.
    Hope this helps.

  • ActionTec + second router = port forwarding issue

I'm having an issue with port forwarding (or maybe routing) across a pair of routers with different subnets. I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, but I can't figure this out. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable here can assist me.
Here's how my network is currently setup:
    1) Standard FIOS ActionTec MI424-WR Rev D router, using default 192.168.1.* subnet.
    2) Added a second router (D-Link Wireless-N w/ Gigabit Ethernet) using the 192.168.2.* subnet.
    3) A patch cable connects an ActionTec LAN port to the D-Link WAN port.
    4) Most of my computers connect to the D-Link router for faster network speeds (desktop PC, NAS, etc.)
    5) Both routers are running DHCP and broadcasting different SSIDs. This is so I can have a private network for my personal data (192.168.2.*) and a guest network (192.168.1.*) that friends/family/guests can use. Basically, from the 192.168.2.* network, I can access any network resource on either subnet; the 192.168.1.* network, however, cannot (easily) access the resources on the other subnet.
    6) This setup works perfectly and has met all of my needs so far.
Now, the problem I'm running into:
I purchased a security camera to monitor my home over the internet while away. It is connected to the D-Link router and I can access the camera without issue while on the 192.168.2.* network. Everything works fine locally. However, I cannot access the camera from the internet.  For sake of ease, let's use the following example setup:
    Internet IP = 74.1.2.3
    Router 1 = 192.168.1.1
    Router 2 = 192.168.2.1
    Camera = 192.168.2.2
    Camera Port = 12345
Accessing the camera locally via http://192.168.2.2:12345 works fine, but accessing it remotely via http://74.1.2.3:12345 does not. I assume a route or port forward needs to be set on Router 1 (the FIOS ActionTec)? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Patrick
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For future viewers, I will throw this out there. You don't normally want two routers with two port forward rules. The best practice is to give the second router a static ip on the lan of the first router and then put the second router in the dmz of the first router, and then apply port forward uses to the dmz'd router.

    Hi Folks,
Same error here. I can successfully video chat with my mom, who has a G4 iMac, connected from her house via cable modem + Airport Express + iSight. I cannot video chat with my sister (G4 Mac Mini, cable + Linksys WRT54G + iSight) nor with my dad (Intel iMac, DSL + Linksys WRT54G).
Skype video, however, does work with all of them.
    I tryed so many alternatives:
    - changed streaming configuration in quicktime prefs
    - disabled firewall in macs
    - disabled firewall in routers
    - changed local network ip address range in each house
    - there are no iChat add-ons (are the BBB games that came bundled with Intel iMacs iChat add-ons?)
This is so frustrating... no audio or video chats. Text works fine.
Anything else I might have forgotten?
    Thanks!
    Leo

  • Can anyone tell me how to port forward and setup an XBOX 360 using my Time Capsule??

    Xbox 360
When playing the game online, the minimum speed of your network should be 128kbps. The ideal network speed for playing the game online is 768kbps. If you are having a problems with lag check the following:
    Network Troubleshooting:
Disable any firewall or security features on your router.
Set port forwarding on your router to the IP address of your Xbox 360. This game uses port 3074 (UDP/TCP). Additionally Xbox LIVE requires ports 80, 53 TCP and 88, 53 UDP.
Place your Xbox 360 into the DMZ of your router.
Disconnect your router and try the game. If it works regularly at this point something about your router may not be completely compatible with the specific needs of this game. Check with your router manufacturer and Microsoft's Xbox Live Connection Issues page for additional steps that may need to be done to resolve the issue you are having. You can also verify that you have an Xbox Live compatible router.
If you are having issues connecting while multiple Xbox 360 consoles are connected on the same network, try forwarding port 3074 (UDP/TCP) for one Xbox 360 and setting the other as DMZ. There is a chance that this may not resolve you issue,  if it doesn’t then you may want to consider getting an additional public IP address by contacting your Internet Service Provider and assigning it to one of these two consoles.
NOTE: If setting port forwarding or DMZ helps your connection issue, you may want to assign your Xbox 360 a static IP address within your home network. This can help to ensure that the configurations you made do not need to be done again. You can visit PortForward's Static IP Guide for a detailed guide on how to do this.
NOTE: Many broadband internet modems are coming with routing capabilities built in. Please contact your internet service provider to determine if your internet modem has an integrated router. If it does, they should be able to assist you with the steps above for setting up your router.
Once you have verified that your network setup is not the cause of the issue, try the following:
Try connecting to a different server. Some servers may have other players connected to them that you do not have an optimal connection with. In most games this is accomplished by backing out to the main menu and then selecting multiplayer again. From there you can try connecting to another online game.
Run the Xbox Network Self Test to see how strong your NAT is currently set to. Once the test is completed you will be notified if there is an issue with your connection. If you select "More Info" you will be given information about your NAT type and some steps to resolve any issues with your connection.
Moderate and Strict NAT types may have issues connecting to online matches. You may get the error "Notice - The game session is no longer available." If you do then enabling UPnP, forwarding port 3074, or placing your Xbox in your router's DMZ may resolve this issue. Please consult your router documentation for instructions on how to do this.

Whoa....this just went way over my head.... I already have 6.1 installed for my Airport Utility.
Read again what I wrote.. 6.1 is the problem.. or part of it.
You need to install the earlier 5.6 version which I have given you explicit instructions to do.
I have done something now and can not connect the XBOX at all now....unless you can provide me step by step directions I may have to call Apple Support.
This will happen over and over.. just press reset and start again.. you need to learn how to do the setup and using 5.6 utility will help you.. as will using ethernet from the computer to the TC.. trying to fix things over wireless is like sitting on a tree branch you are sawing off. As soon as you update you will fall to the ground.
I am not that sure that Apple Support will have any idea.
Do a google search .. you will find most people struggle with this.. Microsoft made the xbox to use upnp with vista specs.. if you use a router without upnp, ie any apple router.. you will have issues.
Have a go at bypassing the problem.. I have no idea if this will work.. I do not use a TC as the main router because much of my network including xbox and ps3 is just a pain.. I use a modem router with upnp. And bridge the TC.. that is the setup I would recommend.
Try this.. once you have installed 5.6 utility.
Get the IP of the XBox and click enable default host.. and put the IP address in there.. this is called DMZ.. all unassigned packets are forwarded to this ip address.. it is like a port forwarding for all ports.
See if it helps.. If it does you will need to lock the xbox address so it doesn't change.. we can get to that.
Tell me what kind of broadband you have and what modem router first.. none of this will work if you have double NAT.

I understand that I will have to activate Port Forwarding on my Router with Ports 21 and 80 to allow external Internet access to the G3. I will also have to configure DHCP Manually for a Static IP address and probably link up with a Free DNS service to maintain reliable access to the G3.
I have other computers on the network, two Macs (Ethernet / 10.3.9 & Airport 10.4.11) and two PC's (one with Vista, one with XP / both on Airport). Only one of the extra Macs is connected via ethernet, the rest are connected via Airport.
Will I have to assign Static IP addresses to all the computers or just the one I want to use as a server?
And also, can anyone tell me about Port Forwarding via Port 22 to give more security from external observation/attacks? I know nothing about this security measure.
    Thanks in advance.
    Christo.

I am now assuming I will be able to access the 'server' from an external location. Very optimistic! But I can't test that for a couple of days.
Ah, but you've given up too soon! You can access your web server from outside your network real easy: you just need to find an external client you can point back to your site. I like to use the W4C validator to do that. It has the happy side effect of also telling you if your web page markup is valid. So you'd point your browser to the validator page:
    http://validator.w3.org/
I like to choose "More Options" and tell it to show the page source. That way I can also verify that it's seeing the page I want it to see.
If I disconnect the iBook from Ethernet, can it still be accessible from an external location if it is connected to the Router via Airport, or do I have do so something like Port Forwarding with my Airport Express as well? Note the iBook can still connect to the Internet via Airport.
It would depend on how your Airport is set up. I think there are a couple of ways to set them up. One is to make the Airport a DHCP server, which would make the wireless network essentially a separate network. In that case, you'd have to forward throught the Airport, too.
My wireless network, though, is set up to bridge, so it's all one network. In that case, all I'd have to do to forward wirelessly to a client would be to set up the forward on the main router.
Being that persons other than myself will be accessing the iBook via FTP, do I give them the user account password of the Mac, or can I set a password in the Router or something else?
Also, when accessing the iBook on my local network using Cyberduck, I can see the entire directory of the iBook's user account. Is there a way to limit access to just one folder, such as the Public folder, or a self-designated folder?
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about setting up FTP. I would suggest that you look into maybe making an account on the iBook specifically for the FTP user and only give out that username and password. You might want to poke around in the Networking and the Web and Unix discussions in the Mac OS X Technologies area. I've seen a number of posts there about setting up FTP, and you might be able to find your answers there.

  • Tarantella and Port Forwarding

    Hi,
I just installed a Tarantella SGD EE 4.0 Server which will be
established in a firewalled and nat environment.
As the ports 80,443,3144 and 5307 are already captured in this
environment there will be port forwarding as follows:
    30080 -> 80
    30443 -> 443
    33144 -> 3144
    35307 -> 5307
When I now try to reach the Server with a browser and
http://firewall:30080 I'll see the 'normal' screen "Welcome to Your
    Secure Global Desktop Web Server".
Trying to login fails with no significant reason in /opt/tarntella/var/log/.
Next what I did was to scan the machine with nmap, this is the result:
    tarantella:~ # nmap localhost
    Starting nmap 3.50 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2005-04-07 16:22
    CEST
    Interesting ports on localhost (127.0.0.1):
(The 1650 ports scanned but not shown below are in state: closed)
    PORT STATE SERVICE
    22/tcp open ssh
    25/tcp open smtp
    80/tcp open http
    111/tcp open rpcbind
    427/tcp open svrloc
    631/tcp open ipp
    1023/tcp open netvenuechat
    5001/tcp open commplex-link
    8009/tcp open ajp13
Nmap run completed -- 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 1.152 seconds
So far, security isn't configured, so its cear, that 443 and 5307 don't
appear, but what about 3144, why isnt't it open?
Where do I have to check what went wrong?
    Thanks,
    Jens

I don't think this is a Mavericks issue. Read the instructions that came with your camera. Is the camera running correctly? Is port forwarding in your router set up correctly? Does your ISP allow incomming connections to port 80? What ip address are you using from the outside world, you can't use your LAN ip address? The security/camera system must be running some type of web server to allow access. Is this running correctly? Does the camera software work with Mavericks or is it designed for older OSX versions?

  • Combo unix ssh port forwarding + iChatAV + Bonjour question

I don't know which forum is best for this question, so thought I'd try here first.
I've been tossing around the idea of picking up a couple of iSights and running iChatAV. Problem is, if I understand this correctly, iChatAV uses a couple of ports for connections to third-party servers: AOL buddy server or Jabber server, a port for something called snatmap, a port for SIP, and some other stuff. Plus, it requires that you open up nearly 20 ports on your network for the AV traffic! (I get nervous just having my non-standard ports for smtp and ssh open, and my imaps port open (which is another issue -- anybody know how to change imaps port 993 to a non-standard port if running uw-imap server?) It doesn't look like iChatAV can, normally, operate by "calling up" an IP address or hostname...it always has to set up calls using AOL or Jabber...unless, perhaps, the destination iSight/iChatAV is on your own Bonjour-capable subnet.
So, I'm thinking, what if a calling party created a ssh tunnel and port-forwarded the dozens of UDP and couple of TCP ports over a ssh tunnel, as a lengthy list of port forward options like "-L 5297:localhost:5297 -L ...", (assuming that the forwarding host, to whom the caller ssh's, is the same computer that is running iChatAV, hence, the remote host specification in the "-L" option of "localhost"). Would the caller then be able to treat the connection like Bonjour networking and when he calls localhost on his end of the circuit, it "bonjours" to the called hostname's localhost and thus a peer-to-peer connection would be made?
Or perhaps a reverse port forward tunnel ("-R" options) could be set up in advance by the "to-be-called" party, and then the calling party initiates a iChatAV call as a "same-subnet-as-calling-computer-via-Bonjour" type of call?
I'm just kicking around some thoughts here; I don't know enough about the intricacies of iChatAV and Bonjour (and ssh) to really know all the "gotchas" and I'd like to get the planning done with a high degree of confidence of success before I plunk out $300 on two iSights.
If the general concensus of the group moderator and others on this forum is that this question should be posted in another forum, I apologize, and I'll move, but I thought that the ssh tunneling nature of my inquiry (and my unrelated side question about how to change 993 to a non-standard port) made this forum the obvious, and best, choice.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on these issues!

No, you can't do what you describe. You have to use port forwarding on the router for any incoming connections, and each port forward rule can only map to a single server/service.
However, SSH has the ability to tunnel other connections, so it may be possible to remove one or more of the existing port forwarding rules and replace them with a SSH rule, then use SSH tunneling to get to those services. Of course, this will only work for services that only you (or other authorized users) need to access, and not public services such as web/http traffic (assuming you're running a public web site).
The only other option would be to replace your router with one that doesn't have such a strict limit on the number of port forwarding rules.

  • Port Forwarding BEfW11s4 linkstation

I am a newbie with networking.  I set up a home network a few years ago and it has worked ok.  I have to unplug the router from time to time though.  Anyway, I just bought a Buffalo Tech linkstation live and would like to use the web access features.  I tried doing the port forwarding but my router must not be plug and play compatible with the drive.  I tried to do it manually from a website Buffalo suggested but no luck.  Is this something I shouldn't even try being that I have very limited knowledge when it comes to networking?
    Any help would be apprecitated!

What are the different ports you tried to forward on the router let me know,,,
