Portal 8.1 vs portal 7

Does anyone know taht is there a component in portal 8.1 similar to what portal.wf component does in portal 7. thanks.

Thanks for you all kindly help. however that is not what I am looking for. probably I do not explain very clear about my question. in portal 7.1, the portal.wf like a main controller component which invoke webflow defined in portlets, but also specify the finally exit node is portal.jsp which give developers more flexibility to add some customerize components such as implementing thread management for each web flow (This is not recommanded in bea document, but in some case, we have to do in this way to meet with system performance). so the question I put here is to ask if anybody know in portal 8.1 , is there any similar component like portal.wf in portal 7 ?

Error while accessing a BI iView from the federated portal to the BI portal

Hi,
We got an issue when we execute BI report from our federated SAP Portal.
The user can navigate into the portal, but when he executes an BI iView, sometime he gets the following error message:
"500 Internal Server Error
blabla...
Root Cause
The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:
BEx Web application "xxxxx" does not exist. The application was either ended by a timeout or an error occurred, which was entered into the trace log. See SAP Notes 937697 and 948490"
He can then refresh the page and execute the report again, and it will works.
Here is our lanscape :
Federated Portal EP6 SP18
BI Portal SP20
Iview are created on the Federated Portal and consume BI web template.
I don't think about a timeout issue, since sometime we got the selection screen and once we click on a button (after some seconds) we got the error.
Any ideas ?

Please could you remove the proxy setting and check whether it will give you same error or not.
Even we have faced the similar similar issue and once we have removed the proxy setting and cross checked it , it worked fine and later we came to know that the problem is in network proxy setting application.Check with the net working team for the same.

Hope you are doing good.
Can't you just amend the portal permissions so that this access is not possible.
The PCD location should be:
com.sap.portal.system/security/sap.com/NetWeaver.Portal/no_safety/com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher....

SSo between Portal 6.0 and Portal 7.0

Hi,
We want to enable single sign on between Portal 6.0 and Portal 7.0.
Our scenario is, In Portal 7.0 on click of role or workset, Portal 6.0 have to be opened in a new window without asking user ID and Password.
What are the steps, I need to follow to achieve this.

Portal navigation missing in portal object (java)

hi,
first of all, i hope thats the right forum. i'm trying to write my first portal application/object, but my studio can't find the "com.sapportals.portal.navigation"-package and i cant import and use the navigation classes which i need.. is that a bug? do i need to add additional libraries? i've read and done the following tutorials (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/44/489d45f5ee4e35e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm)

Hi,
you have to import some libraries (in your case it is com.sap.portal.navigation.api_service_api.jar).
You can find it on the server installaton filesystem here:
\usr\sap\EXX\JC0XX\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.portal.navigation.api_service\lib\com.sap.portal.navigation.api_service_api.jar
If you cannot find some classes to import I use this technique: I go to filesystem of the portal to the \usr\sap\EXX\JC0XX\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\ directory (using TotalCommander in my case) and let it search for desired class (in your case it is INavigationNode.class) - you have to set to search also archives (jar files are zipped classes). Now I copy this JAR to my local filesystem and add the library to the project.

How to open NEW PORTAL PAGE from current portal page ?

I'm very confuse with my problem.
I have 2 portal page.
portal page I has 2 portlet : portlet A & portlet C.
portal page II has 2 portlet : portlet B & portlet C.
Now my customer want : start with portal page I, when i submit portlet A, program will open portal page II.
I don't know the way to call new portal page from current portal page. Help me, please.

Problems while migrating PDK applications from Portal 7.1 to Portal 7.3

Hi All,
I am facing a problem while migrating a PDK application from Portal 7.1 to Portal 7.3.
Since Portal 7.3 doesnt support PAR files any more it provided with a tool to convert the PAR to an EAR file and deploy the resultant EAR to the new portal.
I converted the PAR into EAR and deployed the file but the application is not executing. When I looked into the log files i found the following exception. The application is not able to identify the tag "documentBody". I checked the protalapp.xml and the "SharingReference" is properly maintained in the file but the error message suggests that its not able to fine the reference to the tagLib uri maintained in the portalapp.xml
Now my question is why is it not able to obtain a reference to the taglib? Did any one face similar problem previously. Can you please provide me with any document for migrating / developing PDK application for Portal 7.3

Now I am facing another problem. The application did deploy successfully but with a warning. When i checked the warning it says that the deployment was successful but can not be started.
The log file has the following error message.

Error in Maintaining Portal Server setting in portal

Here I am facing an issue in BI and portal connectivity:
Status 3: Maintain Portal Server Settings for Portal
URL Prefix (ABAP) must have domain (profile parameter icm/host_name_full)
Domain of URL Prefix (ABAP) and URL Prefix (Portal) must be identical
The overview of RSPOR_SETUP shows that the comparison of domains on abap and portal is not correct:
Checks for Step 3 - Maintain Portal Server Settings for Portal
1. Compare Domains of URL Prefixes (ABAP and Portal)
   Domain of URL Prefix (ABAP):   bcs
   Domain of URL Prefix (Portal): bi.com
We have been maintaining the FQDN in host file as bcs.bi.com and it pings successfully. Profile parameter icm/host_name_full is set with subsequent system restart.
As of table RSPOR_T_PORTAL the URL is already stated as http://bcs.bi.com:50000.
Please advise how to fix this error.

It is here at this point when I followed the note 983683, logged on to portal with j2ee_admin, followed the path to add necessary permission i.e. group 'Everyone', only to find that on permissions page both "Add" and "Remove" functions (buttons) are grayed out (disabled).
My guess is perhaps it's due to j2ee_admin missing permission. Please suggest how to enable "Add"/"Remove" functions on System Configuration>Permission>Portal Content>Systemlandscape>open permission page.

POrtal application object - Abstract Portal Component, Location dropdown.

I am creating a Portal application project in NWDS.
Inside this project I am creating a POrtal application object -> Abstract Portal Component.
Now, there is a dialigue box which appears, prompting for object name and package.
In the same dialogue box there is an additional dropdown box for Location.
It has two values "api" and "core".
What does these mean.

You can specify one of the following:
■ Core (default): Places the file in the src.core project directory, and makes it private.

Portal Runtime Error after Portal SP21 Patch Update

Dear GURU's,
Greetings!
We have installed and configured SAP Netweaver 2004 WAS Java and have EP 6.0 SR1 - SP9 system on Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2 and MS SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2.
We had connected the server to the backend R3 system and completed all the configurations for an HCM implementation with KMC. We had updated the SP level from SP9 to SP21.
When we were trying to access the portal system today we found a Portal Runtime Error when we launched the Portal URL. The error is mentioned below.
Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing your request
Exception id: 07:02_06/11/08_4102050
See the details for the exception ID in the log file.
We had not changed any of the configurations in the system, we also had experienced the same error in the UWL Administration link in the portal system and our portal consultant was working on the same.
Please help us in solving the error. We would be glad to know the reason of the error and also the measures to avoid the same in the future.

I solved this error.
This is caused due to insufficient permissions that is configured in the security zones of the portal system.
