Someone know an alternative of SCSM portal ? We like Service Manager 2012 but the portal is very poor and the display with Sylverlight do not function correctly. The end users don't want use it.
I have read that the portal with SCSM2012 R2 don't support Sharepoint 2013 and is identical.
I have found :

Something to note is that Eupsco portal is for Orchestrator to surface Runbooks only. This does not tie directly into Service Manager so you will not be able to take advantage of things like data in the CMDB.
Also there is another company called Gridpro. They have a portal called Webfront by Gridpro. This is for the analysts but keep an eye on them. You never know they might make a end user portal in the future. Here is a link to their site:

Sponsor Portal Alternatives

I'm currently using ISE 1.2 to administer policy for two SSIDs. The first SSID is basically for domain devices only, and we utilize 802.1X and AD. Works great.
The second is currently utilizing the Sponsor Portal, and basically gives Internet-Only access to anybody with an e-mail address and who has a sponsor. In this way, we limited access and knew who was on our network, even though it was Internet Only. This access was intented for temps, contractors, and others who worked with us, but did not require access to domain devices or data.
Well, that's what the intent was. It seems that every once in a while, somebody with an AD computer from some other domain comes in and they are unable to utilize our SSID, because our requirement for a credential and their home domain's AD group policy are incompatible. Presumably, the policy in question is a restriction banning the ability for a computer to join an unknown infratsructure network, hidden deep inside Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Wireless Network (IEEE802.11) Policies.
I can't really tell others that their GP is too restrictive, and I can't really feel good about having a completely open SSID.
Is there some middle ground? Am I overlooking something?

I totally understand your point when you say that "it becomes your problem" :) Nobody likes security but everyone wants it. Now with that being said, if the SSID is "Open" can these laptops connect to it? If yes, I believe that there is a setting in GPO that can prevent users from connecting to any other SSIDs besides the ones configured in GPO, thus you would still face the same problem. Also, the "not advertising" the SSID will not provide you with any additional security measures. The word will get out and you will see how everyone now is starting to use it :) Perhaps what you can do is make it less attractive by throttling the bandwidth and/or use some sort of a web filter and block sites like facebook, youtube, etc.

Skills Profile and Profile Matchup - Manager Notification

In the Skills Profile and Profile Matchup (service EMPLOYEE_SKILLSENHPROFILE_SERVICE_13) when an employee updates one of their skills there is a message written to the screen that "Your manager will then be notified of the changes.". I do not see any notification being created or a standard workflow for this. What needs to be done to 'activate' these notifications?

In order to realise this requirement you need set up workflow
For Skills you should use workflow WS1200124 - I believe this
is provided by application componenent CA-GTF-QR
The function module, which creates the event is
HR_EVENT_WF_SUBPROFILE_DEFICIT.
This should be defined in table T779W
as follows

Workflow is activated in transaction PFWS
It should also be mentioned that the standard workflow defaults
to the inbox of the employee- additionally

be changed from Expression 'Employee' to 'Superior of workflow
initiator (rule) in the workflow builder for this template.
Afterwards it is necessary to activate the event triggering in your
workflow template and deactivate it in delivered template WS01200124.
The whole steps are
Copy workflow
Deactivate even triggering in delivered template
Change Step 004 expression
Save and Activate
Test in ECC
Test in Portal
Alternatively please consider removing text either via Personalization or
NWDI - if you do not wish workflow

Alternatives to WAD for displaying BI Queries / Views in Enterprise Portal

Hello experts,
we have been using WAD 3.5 extensively for displaying BI Querys in a web-capable form within our Enterprise Portal.
Since our users are not BW-familiar in general, we have the requirement to provide a very easy GUI and navigation.
Actually in 3.5 we are able to fulfill this requirement by extensive use of Javascript to modify the look & feel and also the behaviour of the Web applications.
In WAD 7.0 this is not any longer possible, as SAP restricted the Javascript usage, in 7.0 it is impossible to change the HTML code by accessing the DOM, which is very uncomfortable for us, since our users are familiar with the our (javascript-driven)convenient BI Web interfaces.
My question now: are there any alternatives for displaying BI content (queries / views) in the portal apart from using WAD web templates?
I read that the Visual Composer is now capable of processing BI content. Does anyone have experiences with this? And if yes, how does this compare to the WAD?
I also read that there is a BI Java SDK which contains an API to the OLAP processor. Is the BI Java SDK an alternative to WAD? And if yes, is it possible to integrate Java SDK with Web Dynpro or is it plain Java requiring the usage of Servlets / JSP to render the UI?

BI SDK is a Java library without UI support. Think adout it as a JDBC-type API with multidimentional data support. It's the way to go if you need to get to the data itself but it is not appropriate if you want low-effort reporting solution.

The general idea here is to use alternative SAP-independent frontend technology and use SAP BPM for process control "only".

HTTPS/SSL and portal-based apps -- alternatives to 'all or nothing' ?

I've been told by oracle support via metalink that it is not possible to have one or two pages in a portal application accessible though HTTPS and all the others through HTTP. They said that Portal as a whole must use only HTTPS or only HTTP.
This is frankly quite unbelievable, but I double checked two or three times, and they assured me that this is the case. Having just one or two pages in a large site be SSL -- for credit card submission or whatever -- is obviously an incredibly common real-world use case, and others must have already faced this problem and come up with alternatives.
We thought about going outside portal for the two pages that we need to be SSL, but this isn't possible because the processing that needs to occur on those pages is too dependent on Portal.
What have others done to get around this problem and use HTTPS only for select pages?

I have to do the same thing : only protect certain URLs of my portal with SSL.
Checking my.oracle.com, you can see they do this :
1. Home page in HTTP mode
2. post login/password in HTTPS
3. login successful page in HTTP mode
Opening the source, you can see :

My portal middle tiers are in 10g , but the infrastructure database is installed on a remote host and is a 9.0.2.3 iAS release.
my.oracle.com seems to be full AS 10g :
My question is : does this procedure exist in a 10g portal schema.
Or is this procedure a special patch for my.oracle.com portal.
I'm blocked again today as i want only protect 2 or 3 pages but to the whole site.
This shows there is a hope for what we want to do.
Hope too my.oracle.com or Portal security/Login Server specialists will answer....

This is not possible.
If you want to call backend transactions you will need to use the ITS: ITS 6.20 for backend releases with kernel 6.20 (and lower) or the Integrated ITS with kernel >= 6.40. SAP notes 709038 and 325616 can give you more information.

Need an alternative to portal

Hello experts,
If you run a query from BI 7.X query designer it is defaulted to open from portal. Is there any alternative for this? Can't it open from BW server itself like in the 3.x version ? Please let me know if there is anything else also around this area.

When you run query from Bex then it will always use java stack to run the query.
But you can still run in 3.x version from rsrt tcode. There is an button named "ABAP Web" and "Java Web". Click on ABAP web to run your query in 3.x version.

Using alternative(anonymous) bex service for web app in portal

We are trying to create a situation where certain web applications that will be rendered in the portal use an anonymus logon as opposed to the standard /sap/bew/bex service. We still wnat to use the standard service for the great majority of the time. However, we have special cases where we want all users to be able to view results of some very specific web applications.
We have created a new service (ZBEXA) by copying the std bex service and entering anonymous logon informatoin. For the most part, this is working fine.
However, we cannot seem to get this working thru the portal without 'hardcoding' the new bex service as part of the URL iview. (i.e. http://..../sap/bw/ZBEXA?....
We do not want to do this, as we want to be able to trnaposrt these iviews between systems. Thus, we want to create them as BW Report iviews (or BEx web application ivews) and use the web aplication query sting in the form of "CMD=LDOC&TEMPLATE_ID=Zxxxxxxxx", thus making it possible to transport this to other portal environments.
We have tried creating a new 'system' in the portal for the BW instance and changing the WAS path to /spa/bw/zbexa, but this does not change the behavior. Seems the system always wants to use std bex service.
Any ideas?
BTW - we are on NW2004s EP (sp8?) and BW3.5.

Alternative Portal Account

We wish to implement a Portal using LDAP authentication. Unfortunately we have some users who wish/insist on using a different Portal id and password to their LAN id and password. How can this be done?
I can't create a separate account in the Portal for them because they already have an account in AD.

Hi Tom,
Make your LDAP read-only. You can then use the database of the AS Java to create new user accounts from the portal. You would then have to manage your LDAP users with another tool. This seems like it would add to the complexity of your job and require the users to remember multiple account IDs, but if that is the requirement....

BW Workbook as an iView in the Enterprise Portal

I keeping getting a dialog box asking to select the appropriate program to open the workbook. When I select .xls it opens, and it shows the parameters I entered and not the workbook. The customer is on NW04 Stack 11.
I followed ever step on help.sap.com site as listed below.
BW workbooks are MS Excel workbooks with one or more embedded BW queries. You are able to display these workbooks in the Enterprise Portal as iViews.
Features
Workbooks are displayed in a separate MS Excel window. Opening workbooks within the Web browser window is not possible for technical reasons.
BW workbooks require the BEx Analyzer, which requires a local installation of the SAP GUI for Windows with the BW front end.
SAP recommends that you use BEx Web applications in the Enterprise Portal that run completely in the Web browser.
You can use the function Export as Excel 2000 File from the BW Web application context menu as an alternative to using a local installation of the BW front end if you require Excel functions. See Context Menu Functions and Exporting as a CSV File/Excel 2000 File.
An iView with a workbook can be generated using the Portal Content Studio or Role Upload. For more information, see Generating Content from SAP BW for the Enterprise Portal.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
·The System property contains the alias on the BW system (see Creating BW Systems in the Portal).
·The transaction code for every workbook is RRMXP.
·The value WBID= is in the ApplicationParameter property.
You can determine the workbook ID with the BEx Analyzer:
a. Open the desired workbook.
b. In the BEx toolbar, choose ® OLAP Functions for Active Cells ® Properties. The Information tab page contains the Workbook ID (Server).
Note that with BW workbooks as an iView, the AutoStart property contains the value True (process first screen) and the GuiType property contains the value WinGui.

How to set up guest wifi network on 1200 series APs with disclaimer web portal?

I've been thinking about this one for awhile. I want to set up a guest wifi network without any security (AES / TKIP) that allows guests to connect. Ideally, their web browser would be redirected to a web portal containing legal disclaimers, and they would need to accept the terms and conditions to use the guest wifi. I would also like to have them be required to visit the web portal again every 8 hours after that to accept the terms and conditions again.
I have a Cisco 1240AG access point already. What else do I need to make this work?

I don't believe you can do this just with an AP running in autonomous mode you would need to have a WLC to configure the splash page.

We r in the phase of setting the configuration of Portal. We did the the template installer but when iam checking the transactions in Portal ( System Administration--> Support--->SAP Apllication) , it is throwing me the following error.

Under "Personalize > User Profile" the checkbox "Activate Accessibility Feature" must be unchecked!
as, people earlier also faced this issue and SAP provided this solution.
Also an alternative solution for this is like --
Go to:
<Drive>\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<Instance No.>\j2ee\cluster\server<Server No.>\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap\property\Transaction
and see the content of the 'WebGuiSSOLayer.properties' file.
One of the entries is ''ClassName'. The value on a 'valid' portal is: com.sapportals.portal.sapapplication.itsdetection.ITSDetectionLayer
If it's not the case, then go to:
<Drive>\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<Instance No.>\j2ee\cluster\server<Server No.>\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd
rename the file 'com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.par.bak' to 'com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.par' open the par file and edit the file ''WebGuiSSOLayer.properties' (add the relevant entry for ClassName).
Save the file (still with the par extension)
Restart the portal (if everything is OK then the bak extension will be added to the filename).
Just try this, hope it works.
