Portal Business Services
Hi,
Installing WLP 10.3.2 for the first time, I saw this in the splash screen - "Portal Business Services simplify building custom portals by providing integrated services."
What is "Portal Business Services" a reference to? Can you please point me to the specific package/class in WLP API through which such services are exposed?
Prashanth
You can refer to this for an overview:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14241/toc.htm#i1008335
The details are spelled out in the rest of the documentation around each area, such as Content Management, Federation, Security, etc. APIs and RESTful interfaces are also detailed in the respective Javadoc, etc.

Logical system for business service!!!!!!!!!
Hi all,
I send a file from filesystem to XI which inturn converted to IDOC and posted to SAP system. Filesystem i've added as a business system(which has a logical system in R/3).
now i've added the filesystem as a business service(assinged to a party). So if send the file i'm getting the error as "Unable to convert sender service to an ALE logical system".
How can i resolve this problem?
can we assign the business service a logical system name ?(as business system)
What could be the procedure for processing this kind of b2b scenario where we dont have information about systems or sevices in SLD?
Thanks in advance for your replies........

Logical system with business service
hi,
can we have a logical system with business service just like we have with business system?? If yes,how can we create logical system for business service??
Ratna.Hi,
If you intend to use it with IDoc adapter it might be also necessary to set up corresponding Logical System (tcode: BD54) in adequate backed system.
Refer conversion routine (logical system vs. service) in this presentation [Using the IDoc-Adapter|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b2b4035c-0d01-0010-31b5-c470d3236afd] - page no 6.

Basic Auth and business services
Hi,
I have enabled "Basic Authentication" for a http based proxy service(a restful web service implementation of http methods).
In the proxy service flow I am trying to print and extract the username/password from $inbound/*:transport/*:request/*:headers/*:Authorizationson so that I can form a SOAP Header with wsse tokens for calling a back-end secured web service using a business service. But I found nothing out of $inbound/*:transport/*:request/*:headers/*:Authorizationson"
Is this something possible or is there another right way of doing this.
Thanks,

Business Service , Service Group and Provider System for CE 7.2
Hi
I need documentation about Business Service , Service Group and Provider System for CE 7.2.
Att,
MarcoDid you get one? I need too.
In SAP Help Portal there are a large quantity of documents, such as:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce72/helpdata/en/88/a552908d4c44dc99b3ec247069921e/frameset.htm
But the content is so much and I do not know with which part I should start.
In the web blog of Ms. Stefanie Bacher:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50d70a19-45a3-2b10-bba0-807d819daf46?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
she has mentioned how to create a service group shortly. But I cannot follow it in my NWDS CE7.1.
Anyone could give me some tipps, how to resolve authorization problem of consuming web services.
Thanks and regards

Difference Between Business service & Business System
Hi Guys,
I am new to SAP XI Any one pls Explain me with some basics like.
What is the difference Between Business system & Business Service.
Party & Service without party.
Thanks In Advanece
Regards
Kiran.B<b>Difference in Party & Service without party</b>
A party "with a service" can be equivalent as a company reference. You use a "services without party" when there is no company linked to the service.
>>Party
Is used to represent a business Partner ( who dosen't belong to the Current company's landscape). It is generally defined in a B2B scenario's. So All the systems/services accociated with the Party are referred only as Services.
Generally Service with Party is used for Cross Company processes or B2B integration
Service without party is mainly used for A2A communication.
You can find multiple answers in this thread:
Process Integration (PI) & SOA Middleware

>>service without party
It is used to represent any service within the landscape and is used in A2A communication.

Calling a Business Service from a Web Template File
I'm attempting to call a Business Service from my .swt
I've tried everything I can think of and can not get this to work for the life of me.
I've looked endlessly for information on this topic to no avail.
the swt call looks something like this:
<swe:case condition="My Business Service Name, My Business Service Method">
</swe:case>
I assume it is something to do with the set-up of my Business Service. Could someone please help me out here or point me to some information on this topic that is actually helpful? (The bookshelf, from what I could find, did not go into setting up the business service for this use at all)Hi Diz,
I tried doing the same thing by following the steps as mentioned by you. Just to re iterate,
1. Created a DC "Portal Application Standalone" project by the name myservice.
2. Created a portal service inside myservice by the ame AmitsService.
3. Exposed IAmitsService.class in the public part.
4 Build and deployed the DC on server and tested it through an abstract portal component and it worked FINE !!
Now..
5. Created anoter DC of type WebDynPro
6. Added SAP_JTECHS -> epbc.prtapi._api as a "Used DC" with dependency build time and runtime
7. Specified the sharing reference in the properties as PORTAL:sap.com/myservice
8. Tried to reference the service using the following code..
IAmitsService portalservice=(IAmitsService)WDPortalUtils.getServiceReference(IAmitsService.KEY);
9.Build and deployed the DC.
10. When I run the application I am getting the following error
Processing HTTP request to servlet [dispatcher] finished with error.
The error is: com.sap.engine.frame.core.load.SAPNoClassDefFoundError: com/sapportals/portal/prt/service/IService
Exception id: [000D6008418B005C0000002C00000D200004163CE6719E1D]

Writing a common business services Interface - J2EE?
Hi Guys,
Tanks for the previous help. The problem here is, if possible I would
like to know some architectural approaches for following design
question:
We are basically building an enterprise application on J2EE Platform.
The database tier underlying the application is accessed by more than
one portal. Some of the portals are external to organization, but share
the data stored in the database.
What would be the best approach to address this problem? The basic idea
is to write a re-usable common business service component in J2EE
application and provide access to database at Application Server level?
How can I make use of J2EE services/components such as JMS, EJB's to
effectively allow other systems/portals to access database via J2EE
container? Is XML a viable solution?
thanks

Thanks for the reply! So this means that application or external portalhas
to make remote rmi:// call to access the session bean and invoke businessYes, if you want secure communications. You may also consider
making your application WebServices enabled. Anyway, you need
a clearly defined business layer. Otherwise your data won't be treated
in a uniform way and you will end up with maintanance burden.
methods? Is JMS is a overkill for this requirement? It really depends on what you should get as a result.
If you need messaging, JMS is a good thing.

Logical Systems in Business Services
Hi
In Business Service creation, for Adapter Specific Identifiers, the parameter for the Logical System. It is only possible to assign one logical system to one Business Service ?.
i.e. to do
MyBusServ1, Z_LS_1
MyBusServ2, Z_LS_1
is not possible ?
When trying to assign Z_LS_1 to MyBusServ2 I get the error that Z_LS_1 is already assigned. Is there a way to circumvent ?, I do not want to create two logical systems in R/3 as the IDOCS types submitted by the Business Services are the same.
Thanks
DamienThanks for the replies
Sarvesh - The Business service is the sender of the information \ IDOC. If I remove the Adapter specific config then how will XI know what Logical system to apply to the IDOC ?.
Jaishankar - I am creating two IDOC's in SAP. MATMAS and PORDCR. The input file are coming from two different source systems. lets say sys1 and sys2. Both of thse for clarity are created in my scenario as Business Services. sys 1 creates MATMAS and PORDCR IDOC's int he syatem, sys2 creates PORDCR IDOC's in the system. As sys1 and sys2 are related in that they created the IDOC's as part od the same project then I would like to collect in the same partner profile in SAP e.g. Partner Profile ZPP_IDOC with IDOC types MATMAS PORDCR that serve as input for both systems. Logically I would assume that I can assing the logical system ZPP_IDOC to both the adapter specific parameter in both sys1 and sys2.
Thanks

How to use a existing Business Service in IDoc-File Scenario
Hi Experts,
I am new to XI.
I am working on a IDoc to File scenario where in i am importing the CREMAS.CREMAS03 IDoc from the R/3 System.
When i try to create a Business Service in Configuration Scenario Object in Integartion Directory, i get a message saying "SAP system ID ER1 and client 800 already exist in service | CLNT800ER1".
Can i reuse this Business Servie in my Configuration Object?
If yes, can you please guide me How to go about it?
Thanks for the effort.
Cheers
Gaurav RaghavU may directly use it.
Just select the business service wherever required. It is not necessary that the Business Service is present in ur configuration scenario. But if u still want it, u may add it using "Add to Scenario" option from other configuration scenario or from Objects tab
